MCQUAIG, Ronald Wesley With his family by his side Ron passed away peacefully after a brave battle with cancer on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the age of 54 years. Ron was the beloved son of Sadie (Bigelow-McQuaig) Carson, predeceased by his father Wesley and step-father Norman Carson. He will be sadly missed by his sons Shawn (Melanie Sanscartier) and Erik (Marirose Bartolome) and his former wife and special friend Fran Butler. He leaves behind his sisters & brothers Paulette (John Savoie), Linda (Henry Hill), Rick (Wendy), Rita McQuaig-Illingworth (Sean Quinn), Wesley (Dee Dear); step-sister Norma Jean (Brian Wideman), step-brother Elwin Carson (Sharon) and Tim Carson (Debbie Knox). Predeceased by step-sister Marlaine (Sherman Sparling). Remembered by many heartbroken nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Ron was a strong, warm, loving man who had a big heart and a kind and generous nature. He was devoted to his family and friends and was a person who put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Thank you to the staff of the CHVO Gatineau with special thanks to the 6th floor nurses Brigitte and Josee for making his last moments comfortable. Donations may be made in his memory to the Cancer Society. RAMSAY, BETTE (nee Setchell) Peacefully in hospital after suffering a sudden illness one week earlier, and with family at her side, on Saturday, January 29, 2005, one day short of her 82nd birthday. Bette Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Ramsay. She was supported in life and through her last week's journey by her loving sons Bruce and Ian and her grandchildren, Jennifer, Derek, Anna, Suzanne, Erin and Alison, in-law relatives Jana, Penny, Richard, Michael, Susan, Jane, Peter and Ola and step-grandchildren Emily and Xan. She will always be a loving and funny "Poobah" to her great-grandchildren Owen, Abby, Ben and Alex. A Life Celebration will be held at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry on Monday, February 7, 2005 at 6 p.m. Reception to follow. OBITUARY HAROLD LEO BOURKE September 30, 1919 - January 30, 2005 Passed away at the Veterans Hospital at the age of eighty-five. Beloved Husband of Hazel Bourke. Cherished father and father-in-law of Andrea Bourke and Richard Meagher and Susan Bourke and Arash (Eddy) Rahimi. Loving grandfather of Shevonne, Shannon and Arianne Bourke-Meagher, and Sarah and Jessica Rahimi. Dear brother of Betty Kroon and Stan Bourke, he was also uncleto many nieces and nephews, and a life time friend to many. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed. After serving his country overseas in WWII, he brought home his British bride. He joined the family business, Westmount Realties, (founded in 1910), later merging with Royal Lepage. After 35 years as a realtor and manager he retired in 1990. Harold was an icon in the business, respected for his honesty and integrity by all. As a father, friend or co-worker, Dad was always up for a party and his door was always open to those who walked in. He was a true gentleman who never judged a soul. How lucky we were to have had such a kind and simple Dad. His wealth remained in his heart but never lined his pockets. His deep love for his grandchildren enriched his life and theirs. Thank you Daddy and thank you Grampa- you will remain in our hearts forever. May what you have taught us always help us to make the right choices. André Doucette (1920-2005) l'Acadie Nouvelle - 1 février 2005 COLLETTE – Au Foyer Assomption de Rogersville, le samedi 29 janvier 2005, à l’âge de 84 ans, est décédé André Doucette, domicilié au Foyer Assomption, mais autrefois de Collette. Né le 29 avril 1920, il était fils de feu Jérome Doucette et de feu Angeline Gallant. Il laisse dans le deuil une soeur, Regina English (feu Martin), ainsi qu’un frère, Alire Doucette (Rosia). ROACH, Catherine "Cathy" (nee Atkins) Suddenly as a result of a horrific motor vehicle accident in Western New York State on Saturday January 29, 2005 while in the company of the Windsor Wildcat Jr. Ladies Hockey Team. Cathy is mourned by her loving husband Mike of 24 years, their two sons, Danial, Stephen and their daughter Erin. She is also survived by her older brother and special friend Steve Atkins. Cathy will be dearly missed by her mother and father Denise and Ted Pageau. Predeceased by her grandparents Marg and Lou Cusson. Cornelius Pauls July 17, 1918 - January 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) With deepest sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Cornelius Pauls on Saturday, January 29th at the Kildonan Personal Care Home, with his beloved wife at his side. He will be fondly remembered and loved forever by his wife of 56 years, Angela, his children George (Phyllis), Bonnie (Andy), Brenda and Rick (Heather). His grandchildren David (Cora), Matthew, Michelle (Jorge), Scott, Ryan, Larissa and Tyler and great-grandson, Richard. Also left to mourn are his brothers Albert (Mary), Dan (Clara), George (Martha), sister Anna, sisters-in-law Verna and Nancy. He was predeceased by his parents Heinrich and Anna Pauls, brothers Jack, Hank (Emma), Levi, Frank, Peter, sister Eva and brother in law John Pries. Born July 17, 1918 in Montana he was the eighth child born in a family of twelve children. When he was 3 years old, the family moved to Winkler. At the age of 14 he began working various jobs in Winkler, Roland and Morden to help support his family. In January of 1943 he enlisted as a non-combatant in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps and by Christmas of that year he was enroute to Europe. When the war ended, he was stationed in Cloppenburg, Germany where he met Angela. He was honorably discharged as a full sergeant in June 1946 and returned home. He immediately began working on Angela's immigration to Canada. They settled in Winnipeg where he eventually became employed with the Winnipeg School Board as a Custodian. He was very proud to obtain his papers as a Power Engineer and remained employed with the School Division for over 30 years until his retirement in 1983. When the children were young Dad was very involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada and served as District President for the Greater Winnipeg area. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion No.9 where he served in several executive offices. A memorial service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, on Wednesday, February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow The family wishes to thank the staff of the Kildonan Personal Care Home and Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. Lloyd Robert John Clugston November 12, 1915 - January 31, 2005 Peacefully at Mt. Nemo Christian Nursing Home on Monday, January 31, 2005, Lloyd Clugston, formerly of R.R. #1 Freelton, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Mabel Clugston (nee Alderson), 1973. Dear father of Earle and Sharon Clugston of Lynden, and Marlene and Barry Bogle of Safari Road. Loved by his grandchildren Shelley (Brian) Smith, Marsha (Mike) Schoeman, Cheryl Bogle, Kevin (Tara) Clugston, Pam (Ivica) Sunjic, and Brad Bogle. Loving great-grandfather of Noah Lloyd Clugston. Dear brother of Ross (Eileen) Clugston, Ivan (Muriel) Clugston, and Jean (late Alfred) Duerksen. Lloyd enjoyed farming all his life, especially making maple syrup, and was well known for his water divining abilities which he shared with many over the last 70 years. William Malynyk March 09, 1917 - January 27, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) On the evening of Thursday, January 27, 2005, William (Bill) Malynyk, aged 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 1988; brother Nick. Bill leaves behind his son Lyle (Pat); his daughter Brenda; and his precious granddaughter Jessica; brother Harry and sister-in-law Judy, with whom he shared a close relationship. He is also survived by Dick and Bernice Sheppard, his former neighbours whom he considered his greatest friends. He is also survived by his sisters, Lena, Mary and Rose and their families. Bill met Elizabeth while working for her father in Woodridge, and marriage soon followed. He served overseas as a Gunner in the Army and upon his return they built a house and raised a family in East Kildonan, which was home until a few short years ago. His entire working career was spent as an appliance repairman with Eatons. Many conversations were held around the kitchen table about the good old days. Many of his customers shared a special friendship with Bill after his retirement and he cherished those visits and telephone calls. Even after retirement, you could always find Bill in the garage, tinkering and repairing something; turning nothing into something - that was his specialty. Some of his inventions were pretty creative, and we shared many good laughs over them. There was no greater enjoyment to Bill than to spend a day fishing with his wife and family. He was quite the swimmer in his younger years and could out swim his son any day! He was also a great bowler, and for many years bowled on leagues at Billy Mosienko Lanes. His basement was lined with dozens of trophies. Another love of his was ceramics. Bill's entire house was filled with ceramics he made over the years. Bill spent the last number of years residing at Kildonan Personal Care Home due to Alzheimer's Disease. The family would like to thank staff for their kindness and compassion over the years. The family would also like to thank Dick and Bernice Sheppard for all their love and support over the years. Cremation has taken place. She was a faithful wife for more than 3 decades, as well as a dedicated and loving mother to John and Diane Lavallee, Pat and Sylvie Grieve, Andre Lemieux, Chris and Cindy Bondy and had come to think of Donald Tardif as one of her own. She will be met on the other side by her infant daughter Lise. She will always be a cherished grandma to Lawrence, Isabelle, Amy-Lynne, Stephane, Luc, Sebastien and Megan. Great-grandma will be a guardian angel to Felicia, Ryley and all future great-grand children. Ghislaine retired last year after a long employment with Lear and GM Trim.
