Eldin T. Guidroz, 81, a native of Lockport and resident of Mathews, died 9:43 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews, with burial in Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport. He is survived by his wife, Maude Triche Guidroz; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lettie David and husband, Dean David, and Teala Savoie and husband, Oray Savoie Jr.; one brother, Malcolm Guidroz; nine grandchildren, Scott Curole, Cassie and Wade Rogers, Hayley and Ryan Beduze, Kelsey Savoie, Christie and Scott Duet, and Brad David; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Marcel and Carmen Duet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Noelie Comeaux Guidroz; one son, Chris Guidroz; and one grandson, Bradley Curole. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and past commander of Freddie John Falgout Post No. 3665 and American Legion Post No. 83. He was a retired employee of the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sydney Andre Louis LaPointe, 84, formerly of West Haven, entered into Rest in Masonic Health Care Center, Wallingford on Thursday (January 27, 2005). Husband of the late Shirley (Sylvia) Garlonsky LaPointe. Born in Bedford, Canada on July 31, 1920, he was son of the late Hilda Gautier LaPointe, Clark, Wheelock and Andre LaPointe. He was a hockey Player on a Canadian farm team while living in Canada, and later, attended McGill University in Quebec. He enlisted in the Canadian army, and, upon discharge, joined the American Army. A licensed exterminator, he worked for Abalene Pest Control until his retirement. He was a member of the Polish-American Club of West Haven. He is survived by a son, Dr. Thomas (Rose) LaPointe of West Haven; two daughters, Denise (Michael) Berthiaume of North Haven and Maureen (Thomas) Ryan of Wallingford; six grandchildren, Marlo LaPointe of West Haven, Thomas (Terese) LaPointe Jr. of New York, Christopher and Susan Berthiaume of North Haven, Sylvia and Daniel Ryan of Wallingford; and his cat "Leo". Ronald Lee Nadeau, 65, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Lewiston, Maine, and resided in Las Vegas for 40 years. Ronald is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Jenny; brother, Robert; sister, Nancy; sons, Richard, Delmar and Daniel Nadeau, Gary and Shannon Chasteen; daughters, Lisa Chasteen and Brenda Fryer; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He loved his family dearly and he will be greatly missed by us all. Services will be private.

Born at Sussex on June 1, 1950, a daughter of Jean (Rouselle) Richardson of Sussex and the late Murray Richardson. Shirley is survived by her mother, husband Glenn Thorne; sons, Scott and Grant of Sussex; sister, Marilyn Whithers of Black River; brothers, Robert (Mary) Richardson of South Branch and John (Molly) Richardson of Jeffries Corner and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by an infant son Shawn Michael. At Shirley's request there will be no visiting. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Donald James Wry October 20, 1936 - January 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Donald James Wry age 68 of Amherst passed away on Saturday January 29, 2005 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan. Born in Sackville, N.B. he was a son of Margaret (Adams) Wry and the late Marshall Wry. Don was in the Armed Forces in his younger years and later drove transport trucks for different companies in Ontario and Alberta. When he returned to Amherst he was employed with Robb Engineering. Don enjoyed playing cards, listening to blue grass music and watching a good wrestling match. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Marina Vienneau; one sister Judy (Norman) Walsh of Toronto, ON; four brothers Colin (Jean) of Sackville, N.B.; Kenneth (Fran), Bill, and Stuart all of Toronto, ON; sister in law Lois of Picton, ON and many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by one son in infancy and one brother Terrence. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service by the request of Donald. Reginald was the son of Albert F. Smith and Margaret MacDonald (Smith) of Lower Newcastle. He is survived by his wife, Germaine Kelly (Smith), formerly of Suamarez, NB; five sons, Harold Joseph (Chris) of Edmonton, Alberta, Robert Vincent (Paula) of Ferry Road, James Gerard (Cathy) of Calgary, Albert John (Roseline) of Calgary, and Mark Kenneth (Chasity) of Lower Newcastle; three daughters, Linda Theresa (Clarence LeGresley) of Edmonton, Patricia Mary (Roy Heath) of Red Deer, and Kelly Margaret (Eric Johnson) of Allegan, Michigan. Reginald was the brother of the late Rev. James Smith and Sister Alice Smith. He is also survived by three brothers, Hazen (Margaret) of Moncton, Percy (Betty) of Newcastle, and Raymond (Dorothy) of Montreal; one sister, Margaret Howard of Cleveland, Ohio. He will be sadly missed by eight grandchildren, Nathan and Aaron LeGresley of Edmonton, Ryan and Roy Reginald Heath of Red Deer, Michael Smith of Ferry Road, Tanya and Chantal Smith of Calgary and Abigail of Lower Newcastle; step grandson, Bryan MacLean of Calgary; as well as two great grandchildren, Dakota and Julie Rae Heath, along with many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 24, 2004 from St Peter and St Paul's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Walter Lynch officiating. Kathleen (Kaye) Short 1925 - 2004 The death of Kaye Short, 78, occurred unexpectedly at her Dominion Street residence on Wednesday, January 28th. 2004. Born in Moncton on February 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Laurena (Berry) Herman. She was a dedicated certified medical secretary for many years in the office of Dr. Peter Lightfoot. A nature lover, Kaye enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Shediac Cape, loved crafts, cooking, and was known as a top bowler in her league. She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Mitton (Myron) of Sackville; son Gerry LeBlanc of Dieppe; brothers, Gerald Herman, Donald Herman; sister Gladys Baston; granddaughters, Melanie, Jennifer, Kristy, Terianne, Megan, and Mallory as well as several nieces and nephews. OBITUARY BETTY IRENE SHEPHERD PERROW Betty Irene Shepherd Perrow was born December 24, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to John Bassett Shepherd and Roberta Baird Boyd. In 1948 she began studies at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg on an Isbister Undergraduate Scholarship, followed in 1952 by a French Government Bursary to study at the Sorbonne. In 1953 she received a Canadian Federation of University Women Professional Award to study at Oxford. Returning to Canada in 1954, she taught in high schools in Winnipeg, Quebec City and Montreal. Married in 1961, she moved to Connecticut with her beloved husband, William Henry Vivian Perrow, and raised a family. After her husband's death in 1982, she earned a master's degree in education from Harvard University, where she also studied Chinese. She then taught English for a year in Xian, China. In 1988, she moved to Toronto, where she taught French for the North York Board, retiring in 1996 and moving to Quebec. On January 19, 2005, she died peacefully at her home in Mont-Tremblant. She is survived by her three children, Margaret, Roberta and Jonathan, and by her grandson William. Shirley was a very generous and caring person enjoying the simple things in life. She spent much of her spare time on needlework and crossword puzzles. Shirley will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends with whom she enjoyed many teas, concerts, trips and social events. She will also be missed by her many animal friends for whom she provided daily treats. Shirley will be especially missed by her aunt, Georgie and niece, Brenda Lee. Donald Francis Auclair, Sr., 81, of 943 Willow St., Lomira, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at St. Agnes Hospital. Don was born April 4, 1923, at Manitowoc, the son of Charles and Theresa Kohler Auclair. On May 20, 1944, he married Adelia Mae Nichols of Antigo at Baltimore, Md.He served with the 3rd Army Infantry and was involved with the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. He continued to serve in Europe until 1946 and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service. Don was a Master Carpenter and had designed, built and remodeled hundreds of beautiful homes throughout Wisconsin. During his retirement, he continued his love of wood working by constructing remote controlled airplanes, cars, trucks, and many toys for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a guide for many years in the north woods.He is survived by his wife, Adelia (Nickie) of Lomira; children, Charles (Paulette) of Milwaukee, Michael (Delores) of Bollingbrook, Ill., Penny (Donald) Neller of Milwaukee, Pamela (Fred) Brown of Black Diamond, Alberta, Patti Eickermann (Tom Dolan) of Kaukauna, John (Tiia) of Denver, Colo., and Daniel of Lomira; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Griebling of Manitowoc; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many wonderful friends.He was preceded in death by a son, Donald F. FALMOUTH - Henry L. Beaulac, 79, died Thursday at Royal Nursing Center, Falmouth, after a long illness. He was the husband of Katie (Maynard) Beaulac for 34 years. He was also the husband of Mary (Szynal) Beaulac, who died in 1967. Mr. Beaulac was born in Thompson, Conn. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He was an air traffic controller at LaGuardia Airport in New York and Otis Air Force Base. He retired in 1980. After retiring, he worked at Harvey's Hardware in Falmouth for several years. He loved golfing, deep-sea fishing and bowling. Besides his wife, survivors include three daughters, Jayne Sullivan of East Falmouth, Christine Martini of Falmouth and Diane Flanagan of Florida; a son, Ronald Dame of Falmouth; a brother, Leo Beaulac of Webster; a sister, Florence Piper of Thompson, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Broussard was a native of Milton, Louisiana and lived most of his life in Nederland. He retired as a custodian with the O.C.A.W. # 4-23 in Port Arthur after many years of service. He also worked for the Nederland I.S.D. He is survived by his sister, Anna Neunhoffer and husband Oscar of Kerrville; brother-in-law, Clarence Bourque and wife Lillian of Beaumont; sister-in-law, Laura Premeaux and husband Presley of Nederland; nieces and nephews, Diane Hejduk and husband Les, Jim Premeaux, Wayne Premeaux and wife Reba, L.J. "Pop" Broussard and wife Jeanette, Laris L. Broussard and wife Betty, Elaine Brewer, Mike Broussard and wife Vickie, and Joan Broussard. Also surviving are several other nieces and nephews.

AURORE LACASSE -- CLAREMONT, N.H. — Aurore LaCasse, 89, formerly of 156 North Street in Claremont and more recently of Silver Maples died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in Valley Regional Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in St. Adrien D'Irelande, Quebec, Canada, Feb. 27, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Elmire (Hamel) Garneau. She had been a resident of Claremont since 1946. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Parish and was also a member of the St. Anne Society. She was the widow of William J. LaCasse, who died in 1986. Members of her surviving family include a daughter, Monique Minckler and her husband, Kevin, of Claremont; two sons, Richard Pierre LaCasse and his wife, Linda, of Shelburne, Vt.; Robert “Frenchie“ LaCasse and his wife, Christine, of Perkinsville, Vt.; five grandchildren, Chad, Brandi, Claudine, Chelsea, Bryana; and one great-grandchild, Alicia; a sister, Rev. Sister Cecile Garneau, Sisters of Providence, of St. Laurent, Quebec, Canada; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Omer Garneau and Adrien Garneau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Piwowar, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. GENDRON, FRED L., JR. -- Fred L. Gendron, Jr., a Rye resident for 52 years, died on January 28, 2005 at King Street Nursing Home in Rye Brook, NY. He was 85. Mr. Gendron was National Credit Executive for P.R. Mallory Corp. in Tarrytown, NY. He was with the company for 14 years before retiring in the late 1970's. He was a member of the Presidential Trust and the Republican National Committee. Mr. Gendron was born May 21, 1919 in Winchendon, Mass. to Fred and Cora Roy Gendron. He was educated in Winchendon and graduated from Murdock Academy in 1937. He took courses at the University of Southern California immediately following WWII. Mr. Gendron served in the US Army Air Corp. from 1941 to 1946 attaining the rank of Master SGT. On November 21, 1942 he married Doris McNamara in New York City. Prior to living in Rye, Mr. Gendron resided in Mamaroneck, NY. Mr. Gendron will be remembered for his love of woodworking. Mr. Gendron is survived by one sister, Gloria Ludlam of Marblehead, MA, a son Lee of Brewster, and two grandsons Dennis and Andrew also of Brewster, NY. Mr. Gendron was predeceased by his wife Doris in 2001. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 31st from 10 to 11AM at the Graham Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11AM. Connie Kent Dixon Lafayette, 65, of St. Amant, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was a native and longtime former resident of Baton Rouge. She was born Sept. 15, 1939, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and Christian example. She was a retired loan officer for American Bank with 30 years of service and attended LSU for three years. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul V. Lafayette Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Donna Lafayette; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzi and Joe Hutchinson; a brother, Richard E. Dixon; five grandchildren, Victoria Lafayette, Miles Hutchinson, Morgan Hutchinson, Amy Childers and Amanda Creel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas J. Dixon and Rosalie Dyer Dixon; and her biological father, Stanley Eugene Kent. LOWELL - Aime J. Labrecque, 85, a resident of Andover, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, at a health-care facility in Lowell after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Germaine L. (Fournier) Labrecque.He was born in Manchester, N.H., Feb. 28, 1919, son of the late Joseph and Eva (Goudreault) Labrecque. Mr. Labrecque was an Army veteran of World War II.Before his retirement, Mr. Labrecque was a self-employed general construction contractor in the Lowell area for many years.His survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Daniel Brady of Nashua; two brothers, Rene Labrecque of Haverhill and Leo Labrecque of Sanford, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.He was also the brother of Yvette Varezeele, who died in 1984. Joseph G. Labrie, 87, of 100 Pinard Street, died January 29, 2005 at the Elliot Hospital.He was born in Manchester on February 18, 1917, the son of Francois and Clara (Lavoie) Labrie and had been a Manchester resident for most of his life. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star. After his honorable discharge as a Sargent Major, he worked for Associated Grocers for seventeen years. After that, he owned and operated his own real estate company for over ten years until his retirement. He was a parishioner of the Church of Transfiguration. He was a member of the American Legion Sweeney Post #2 and the VFW Post 8214. He had a great love of life and enjoyed socializing and being around people. He loved to travel, dance and took pride in his garden where he grew tomatoes and roses.Family members include his wife of 62 years, Sadie (Bouley) Labrie; and many nephews, nieces and cousins, grand and great grand nephews and nieces.In His Life: He and his wife enjoyed spending time with their close friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bertrand Tardiff, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Babei and their children whom he considered his nephews and nieces as well as the Lagasse family.
