Woodrow P. Naquin, 61, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano. Religious service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery. He is survived by his mother, Hilda Williams Naquin; three brothers, the Rev. Earl Naquin, Richard Naquin and Richard Naquin Jr.; and one sister, Laura N. Billiot. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Naquin; two brothers, Lester Naquin and Wilton Naquin; and one sister, Esther Terrebonne. He was a musician and was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of Full Gospel.

MASSON, JOHN F. John F. Masson of Lake George passed away January 23, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was born at Magaguadavic in 1946, a son of the late Frank and Helen (Holt) Masson. John was a pipefitter by trade and a member of Local 772 as well as a member of Cherry Mountain Masonic Lodge in Harvey Station. John very much enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, bowling and four wheeling. John is survived by his wife, Judy A. (Currie) Masson; a daughter, Lori Hansen (Calvin), Lake George; a son, Chris Masson, Lake George; a sister, Jean Tucker (Roy), Deer Island; four grandchildren, Trusten and Hayden Hansen, Denise and Jake Masson; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donnie Masson and a sister Margie Masson. Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 2 p.m. with Rev. KRUEGER, Lorraine Joyce, Passed away after a determined courageous battle with breast cancer on Saturday, January 22, 2005 with family by her side. Born in Blue Mountain Bend she was the daughter of the late Edward (Perry) and Annie Jenkins. She is survived by her husband Lemuel Parish; five daughters, Leota Lacey of Lloydminster, Alb., Rena Cassista of Blue Mountain Bend, Esther Brewer and Evelyn (Glenn) Knowlton both of Oxbow and Peggy (Hughie) Diamond of Plaster Rock; eight sons, Leonard Parish of Burntland Brook, Wendell (Shirley) Parish of Blue Bell, Perry (Val) Parish of Brookland, Ont., Russell (Shirley) Parish of Two Brooks, Stephen (Elaine) Parish of Oxbow, Brian (Marilyn) of Blue Mountain Bend, Boyd Parish of Saskatoon, SK and Douglas (Sandra) Parish of Crombie; 46 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. GALLANT, DARYL - The death of Daryl Gallant of 115 Woodhaven Drive, husband of Shirley Elliott, occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 23, 2005. Mr. Gallant was born in Souris, P.E.I., a son of Blanche (Campbell) Gallant of Charlottetown and the late Francis Gallant, and had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John, where he was employed with Industrial Security. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Wayne. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Chantelle Gallant (John Brideau) and Cindy (Lee) Seale, both of Saint John; and three grandchildren, Zachary and Taylor Seale and Kyle Rogers. JONES, CORRINE "MOLLY" - The death of Corrine "Molly" Jones of Smithtown, widow of Charles Jones occurred January 24, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born at Saint John, daughter of the late John and Cora (Arbing) Edwards. Molly was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Smithtown. She enjoyed gardening and quilting with the church ladies. Molly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. VANDAL, MARCEL J., 69, of Largo, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2005) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was born in Central Falls, R.I., and came here in 1998 from Cumberland, R.I. He worked as a starter rebuilder for 14 years with Ace Armature Auto Repair Shop in Pawtucket, R.I., and worked 20 years as a press setter for the Woonsocket Call newspaper in Woonsocket, R.I. He was an Army veteran . He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Largo, and an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Beatrice; a brother, Leo, Cumberland; and two sisters, Jackie Fregoole, Bowie, Md., and Rose Laperche, Cumberland. National Cremation Society, Largo.

Mary Etta Day (née Thompson) February 03, 1921 - January 24, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully on January 24, 2005, our loving mother and grandmother passed away at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 83. Mom will be sadly missed by her loving son James (Shirley); daughter Betty (Gerry); grandchildren Scott, Darren (Rebecca), Michelle (Michael), Rodney (Angie), Kim and Kevin; as well as her siblings, Ethel, Frank, Pearl; and numerous other relatives. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Alastair Frances in 1972; parents Alfred and Lillian Thompson of Bagot, MB; and her siblings, Edith, Florence, George and Russel. Mom was born on February 3, 1921 in Bagot, MB where she attended Image Hill School from 1926 to 1934, actively participating in softball and ice skating. During the Second World War, she drove taxi in Portage la Prairie and drove Motor Transport for the Air Observer School Southport. She went through Selective Service in St. Catharines, ON working in a war factory and also driving bus for Niagara, St. Catharines and Toronto railways until the end of the war. Mom returned to Winnipeg in 1946 where she began work with Eaton’s department store and met her future husband Alastair. The next year, they were married and returned to Portage la Prairie where they resided until returning to Winnipeg in 1959, settling in Transcona. Mom would best be remembered for starting the Transcona Driving School in 1964, which she continued to operate until her retirement in 1984. Mary also enjoyed her time gardening and dancing. The family would like to thank Dr. John Foerster, Dr. Dennis Caners and the nurses of the St. Boniface General Hospital and Park Manor for their care and support. WESTFIELD - Della C. (Stadnicki) Roberge, 97, of Westfield died Sunday January 23, 2005 in Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She was born October 1, 1907 in Chicopee, daughter of the late William and Carolyne (Gajda) Stadnicki. She was employed as a stitcher for Spaulding in Chicopee for several years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church of Westfield, and the Hampden Village Association. She was a volunteer at the Chicopee Boys Club Ceramics Program for many years. Della enjoyed giving away hundreds of pierogi's at Christmas time. Our special thanks go to the staff at Heritage East. They did the most difficult jobs with kindness, compassion and patience. She was the widow of Alexander J. Roberge who died in 1999. She leaves two daughters, Corrine S. Dissatti of West Springfield and Ann V. Schultz of Westfield. Della also leaves four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A granddaughter Susan predeceased her in 1989. BUXTON, PHYLLIS BARBARA (nee Craik) Phyllis Barbara (Craik) Buxton of Vancouver and Gabriola Island, BC, passed away on 14 January 2005 at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, BC, at the age of 75. She was the wife of the late J. Douglas L. Buxton (formerly of Minto, NB). Born in South Devon, NB, 28 March 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Irvine and Frances Ethel (Flieger) Craik of Fredericton, NB, and was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Union St., Devon. Phyllis moved with her husband and children to Vancouver in the early 1960s, and lived there for several years before retiring to Gabriola Island, BC. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, her family being her main concern. With her home daycare business, she was Gramma to many. Phyllis was a longtime member of Scouts Canada (39th South Hill) becoming the Assistant District Commissioner for Beavers and was honoured for her long years of dedicated service. She attended St. Mary (South Hill) Anglican Church, Vancouver. Her generous nature and outgoing personality won her many friends; she will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She is survived by daughter Catherine Dianne Lundgren (George), Nanaimo, B.C; son James Douglas Buxton (Judy), Maple Ridge, BC; five granddaughters: Julie Reid, Vancouver (with whom she made her home after the death of her husband); Jennifer Komen, Vancouver; Tanya Buxton and Christine Buxton, both of Maple Ridge BC; Diane Buxton, Squamish, BC; grandson Brian Bjornsson, Richmond, BC; great granddaughter, Amber Komen, Vancouver; one brother, James G. H. Craik (Olive), Lunenburg, NS; three sisters: Helen Furlotte, Oshawa, ON; Marie McNeill (Conrad), of Waterborough, NB; Carol Craik, Vancouver, BC.; sisters-in-law: Phoebe Craik, Newcastle, NB; Dianne (Teddy) Buxton Fenton, Moncton, NB; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four sisters: Joyce Newman, Vivian Weed, Rita Stafford and infant Ethel Craik; five brothers: William, Kenneth (Bud), George, Aubrey and infant Arthur Craik. BRUCE, LESTER ALEXANDER The death of Lester Alexander Bruce of Doaktown, NB, husband of Edna Rowena (Morris) Bruce occurred at his residence on Sunday, January 23, 2005. Born in Taxis River, NB, he was a son of the late Raymond and Gladys (Parker) Bruce. Mr. Bruce was a Veteran of the Second World War and served overseas with the Carleton York Regiment, 1st Canadian Division 3rd Brigade. He was a former member of the Phillips Road Baptist Church, New Maryland, NB. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Frances Alexandria, Elonwi Jean Clark, Sharon Beverly Demoors and Cheryle Lorraine Mayer all of British Columbia; two sons, Earl Harold Bruce and Lorne Robert Bruce of British Columbia; two sisters, May L. Crosby of Toronto, ON and Frances Sleath of British Columbia; two brothers, Allison Bruce of Surrey, BC and Raymond Bruce of Hamilton, ON; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bruce was predeceased by one infant son, Mackenzie; three sisters, Lois, Anita and Joyce; two brothers, Earl and Eugene. WESTFIELD - Patricia Louise LaPlante of Granville Rd., Westfield, MA, passed from this life on January 20th at Northwest Hospital in Randall-stown, MD. Born in Parkersburg, WV, she was preceded in death by her parents, Hazen and Gwendolyn Craven, and a stepbrother, Homer, all of Parkersburg. Following nursing training, she joined the U.S. Navy, where she served with distinction until she was honorably discharged. In 1973, Patricia and her family moved to Westfield, MA from Enfield, CT. She retired from Westfield Medical Corp. in 2001, after over twenty years of dedicated service. She was a compassionate caregiver to all, and a devoted friend to many. Most recently, she served as the President of St. Margaret's Guild at the Church of the Atonement in Westfield. She was married for 43 years. In addition to her husband, Peter, she leaves her two children, Todd LaPlante of Easthampton, MA, and Denise Khouri and her husband, Michael, and their children, Matthew, Alexander, and Quinn of Eldersburg, MD. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Rose Fortney of Witchita, KS, and Jean Swesy of Vacaville, CA. Calling hours will be from 4 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, 1-26-05, and funeral services will take place on Thursday, 1-27-05 at 10 am. Both events will occur at The Church of the Atonement, 36 Court St., in Westfield. Patricia was warmed by the kind thoughts expressed during her illness, and was especially comforted and thankful for the many prayers and petitions issued on her behalf. GIRSTUN, Witold Jan Passed away peacefully on January 24, 2005 with his family by his side at 82 years of age. Devoted husband of Genevieve with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage. Loving father of Irene and husband Gino Morga, and Anne Bernardon. Treasured Dziadzio of Jennifer Morga, Victoria Morga, and Nathaniel Bernardon. Dear brother of Alina Bos of Poland and brother-in-law of Sabina Hillsburg of Perth, Ontario. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Ludwik and Maria, sister Bozenna and brother Zbigniew all in Poland. Witold was born on May 28, 1923 near Wilno, Poland and after the occupation of his homeland by the Soviet Union, he served, commencing in 1942, in the Polish Forces under British command in Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, and Italy where he saw action in the battles at the Sangro and Rapido Rivers, the battle for Monte Cassino, the battle for Ancona, the battle for Bologna, and the Northern Apennines. For his bravery he was awarded the Cross for Valour and the Cross of Monte Cassino by the Polish Government as well as the 1939 1945 Star, the Italy Star, the Defense Medal, and the War Medal by Great Britain. He was honourably discharged in 1946 when he emigrated to Canada. He retired from Dominion Forge after 35 years of service, and was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Church and a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 537. Krista L. MacLeod 1978 - 2005 Krista L. MacLeod, 26, of Moncton and formerly of Ontario, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, January 24, 2005. Born in London, on August 25, 1978. She is the daughter of Jim Rowe and Jill (Turner) Rowe. Krista was a graduate of Riverview High School. She was employed with MacArthur's Nursery on McLaughlin Dr., Moncton and was formerly employed with the Superstore in Riverview and Dewares in Moncton. Krista's friends will remember helping her have many adventures since the onset of her illness. Backpacking across Europe, travelling to Arizona, kayaking, skydiving and the "Wedding Gig". Krista was a great lover of plants, reading and writing. Her favourite holiday was Halloween when she created the most "interesting" parties and costumes. She especially enjoyed the local music scene, her 1971 Moped and riding the roller coaster. She touched everyone who met her. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Eric MacLeod; parents, Jim Rowe of Hanover, ON. and Jill Rowe of London, ON; maternal grandmother, Violet Turner of Johnson's Mills, NB; sister, Ashley Rowe of London, ON; niece, Brianna; local aunts, Judith and Ralph MacCheyne of Johnson's Mills, NB, Barb and Roman Kedzierski of Riverview, and by her cousin, Kate Cober (Steve) of Riverview as well as relatives in Ontario and by her many friends in our area. Alvah Lawrence Larsen PORT ELGIN, NB - The death of Lawrence Larsen, age 85, occurred on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Port Elgin, on September 22,1919, Lawrence was the son of the late Mary (Duguay) and John Larsen. Lawrence was a carpenter and plumber for most of his life. He worked for several employers before beginning his own plumbing and heating business, from which he retired in 1985. He enjoyed sports (particularly hockey and boxing), swimming, skating, driving his skidoo, four wheeler and woodworking. He loved to travel, whether it was by land, sea or air. A loving and caring husband, father, grampie, brother, uncle and friend. Lawrence will be extremely missed by his daughters, Sherry (Malcolm) Trenholm, Belleville, ON, Linda (John) Oulton and Deborah (Richard) LeBlanc, both of Baie Verte, NB, Susan (Stephen) Legere, Amherst, NS and Shannon (Don Love) Larsen, Markham, ON; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Thelma, (2001); brothers, George (1927) and Ronald, (2003); parents John and Mary and granddaughter, Lisa Oulton (1969). His remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin with visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 2PM with Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery in the spring. Gloria was born in Kirkland Lake and had been a longtime resident before moving to Timmins in 1998 after the death of her husband, to be close to her daughter. She was on many boards and community services in Kirkland Lake, involved with the C.W.L. of St. Joachim's church, Ladies Auxillary of the Dante Club and volunteered for the Dialysis Unit of the Timmins & District Hospital. Ken attended St. Joseph's Seminary, graduated from De La Salle High School and Charity Hospital's School of Radiological Technology, received Bachelor of Science Degree from Our Lady of Holy Cross College and a Master's Degree in Health Administation from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He served in the Army Reserves, 4010th USAR Hospital Unit, was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus 1905 Gretna Council, was an active member of St. Martha Church in Harvey, recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion, past president of the Pastoral Council, lector and Eucharistic Minister. He sang with the Mardi Gras Chorus of Greater New Chapter of Barbershop Harmony Society and with the St. Martha Contemporary Choir. Beloved husband of Linda Santangelo Aubert for 39 years.
