Cecil Lorne Moore, 85 Cecil Lorne Moore, died April 23, 2004 at Brockville General Hospital. He was in his 86th year. Mr. Moore was born April 3, 1919 in Prescott to Philander Wellington Moore and Elma Moore (nee Conklin). He attended Prescott Public School, Maynard Public School, Prescott High School and Ottawa Technical College. He joined the RCAF Radar Detachment in 1942 and was discharged with the rank of Flt. Sgt. after World War 2. In 1946, he married the former Maxine Lawrence of Seaforth, Ontario. They moved to St. Stephen, N.B., where he worked as plant manager at Ganong Bros. confectionery plant. He and his family returned to Prescott in 1953. Mr. Moore worked at the new RCA Victor plant. He later worked at the Hershey plant in Smiths Falls and at DuPont Canada. He was a stationary steam engineer at Brockville Psychiatric Hospital until his retirement in 1984. He and his wife sold their house on River Road West and moved to Brockville. He was a charter member of the Augusta Fire Department in Maitland and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in St. Stephen and later in Brockville. He was also a devoted member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Prescott. He was involved in the men's choir, was a member of the board of managers and superintendent of the Sunday school and was also a member of the Session. He and his wife enjoyed 12 winters at their winter home in Sebring, Florida. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, daughter Frances (Mrs. Doug Wright) of Brockville, sons Earle (wife Irene) of Oxford Mills and David of Fort Nelson, B.C., grandchildren Kimberley Wright (Forrest Herbison) of Brockville, Jamie Wright (wife Kathleen) of Oxford Station, Rebecca (Mrs. Mark Redvers) of Oshawa, Lesley Reid of Port Elgin, Trevor Moore of Windsor and Alana and Corbin Moore of Estevan, Saskatchewan and great-grandchildren Jordyn Redvers, Carson Wright and Journey Herbison. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Geraldine Naylor and brothers Mansell and Elmer. Friends and family visited at the Chris Slater Funeral Home Monday, April 26, 2004. A funeral was held Tuesday, April 27 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. The service was conducted by Reverend Ian MacLean; a touching eulogy was given by grandson Jamie Wright. Interment took place at Maynard Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Anderson, Willard Gaylord, Dale Delottinville, Gary Moore, Frederik Gauthier and William Ferguson. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society, Canadian Arthritis Society and Kidney Foundation as well as the St. Andrew's Memorial Fund.

Donald Carl Prosser, 39 After a brief but courageous battle with cancer and his family by his side, Donnie Prosser, 39, entered into rest on September 25, 2004 at the Ottawa General Hospital. Donald Carl Prosser was born on Feb. 28, 1965 at Brockville General Hospital to the former Yvonne Touisant (Couperus) and Carl Prosser. His life began in Cardinal where he attended Benson Public School through his early school years. He finished elementary at Central Public School in Prescott and went on to graduate from South Grenville District High School. Most of Donnie's child and teenage years were spent growing up in Prescott and working at Becker's, Hathaway, and Liquid Carbonic. He later re-located to Ottawa where he pursued a career of self-employment in the professional cleaning business. Through the years he held many interests including his last and most enjoyable endeavour, an apprenticeship in the floral business. Donnie was a warm and caring person who enjoyed spending time with his animals, especially his dog Tiffy who was with him for 15 years. He took great pleasure in visiting the cottage as often as possible and loved entertaining his friends and family with his home-cooked meals and baked goods. Donnie is survived by his parents Yvonne and Stuart Couperus and Carl and Bernice Prosser, his siblings Danny (Anita), Cindy (Francois), Jackie (Clint), Lisa (Jeff), Denise, Michelle (Jeff), Melanie (Kevin), Kim (Tim), and Brian. Also loved and missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and paternal grandparents Angus Prosser (Helen), Mae Jones and predeceased by maternal grandparents, Lillian Touisant and David Touisant. On Sept. 29, 2004, family and friends gathered at the Chris Slater Funeral Home to celebrate Donnie's life. Reverend Ring led the service with the interment following immediately afterwards at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Maitland. Memorial donations were used to purchase medical equipment for the sixth floor of the Ottawa General Hospital in honour of Donnie. Additionally, donations were made towards the Canadian Cancer Society. Although Donnie has left us in body, his spirit continues to carry on through us all. He is and always will be "forever loved and never forgotten."

Eileen Scott, 86 A lifetime resident of the Cardinal area, Eileen Scott (nee Gillmoure) died at Wellington House Nursing Home, Prescott, Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at the age of 86. Mrs. Scott was born Sept. 1, 1917 in Shanly. She was the second of seven children born to John and Mae Gillmoure (Nee Mcfadden). Her brothers and sisters were Desta, Dora, Mansel, Lennis, Jean and Marguerite. She spent her childhood years growing up on the farm in Shanly. Mrs. Scott looked forward to the family gatherings in the parlour on Sunday evenings for musical entertainment where she and her sister Dora would play guitar and the family would sing. On June 16, 1937, she married Donald "Bud" Scott and resided at the Scott family farm north of Cardinal. She raised three children ? Ann, Donna and Jackie. She spent her days on the farm helping milk the cows, sewing and knitting clothes for her children and maintaining a produce garden. She always hosted a corn roast each summer for her sisters and brothers and their families, where she would serve the produce from her garden, including her treasured musk melons. She also enjoyed going to the huckleberry marsh to pick wild blueberries, playing cards, watching hockey on TV and family get togethers. She especially enjoyed the fall trips she took with her husband and children. In later years, she enjoyed trips with Bud to the Maritimes, Hawaii, Florida, Georgia and Moosonee. The sudden death of her son Jackie in 1972 took its toll on her and Bud. Once again, in 1984, she had to face death with the loss of her husband Bud. After his death, she continued to travel, and she looked forward to visits to the Hull casino until she was diagnosed with Alzheimers, and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to the Gillmoure family reunion each year. She took many pictures over the years and managed to have her albums up to date. Mrs. Scott was a hard-working woman and toiled from dawn til dusk and even maintained her garden until her 81st year. After she was diagnosed with Alzheimers, she was able to stay in her home for a year; in Sept. 1999, she moved to Wellington House. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was the loving mother of Ann (Sheldon) Gill of Cardinal and Donna (Bill) Veltkamp of RR 1 Cardinal. She was the dear sister of Desta (Ron) Prosser of Cardinal, Dora Cook of Cardinal, Jean (Clarence) King Jr. of Spencerville, and Marguerite Barton of Prescott. She was predeceased by a son, John Chester "Jackie" Scott, brothers Mansel and Lennis Gillmoure, brothers-in-law Milburn Cook and Earl Barton, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Gillmoure. Mrs. Scott will be sadly missed by four grandsons and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Cardinal, Thursday, March 11. The funeral service was held at the funeral home Friday, March 12 at 3 pm, with Rev. Arlyce Schiebout officiating. The eulogy was given by Nancy Lefebre and Tom Gill sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Interment followed at St. Andrews and St. James Cemetery, Cardinal. Pallbearers were Dale Cook, Richard Barton, Roger King, Howard Gillmoure, John Gillmoure and David Gillmoure. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Veltkamp, Sheldon Gill, Trevor Gill, Doug Veltkamp, Todd Gill and Paul Gill. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Leeds and Grenville, The Wellington House Activity Fund, or Wellington House Palliative Care would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

LEMAY, Pierre 1945 - 2005 À l'hôpital Le Gardeur, le 3 janvier 2005, à l'âge de 59 ans, après un long combat contre le cancer, est décédé M. Pierre Lemay, fils de feu Paul-Emile Lemay et de Pauline Courville. DAUGHARTY, DAVID ALLAN The death of David Allan Daugharty of Fredericton, occurred on Monday, January 3, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born in Montreal, he was a son of the late Glenn and Mary (Holman) Daugharty. Mr. Daugharty was an Assistant Dean for the Faculty of Forestry and Environment Management at the University of New Brunswick. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1969 with a BScF and in 1984 with an MScF and began working at the University in 1972 with the Faculty of Forestry and became Assistant Dean in 1990. Mr. Daugharty is survived by his partner, Carol Johnston; one son, Geoff Daugharty of Fredericton, NB; and one sister, Caroline Silsbury of Toronto, ON. Lana Marie Vail, 54 Lana Marie Vail, of RR#2 Prescott, died July 18, 2004 at Brockville General Hospital. She was 54. She was born July 2, 1950 in Kingston to parents Purvis Stewart and Mary Ann Abel. She married George Vail on July 29, 1967 at Christ Church, Lords Mills. Mrs. Vail was a line worker and machine operator at Black and Decker and also a salesperson at Charm Jewellery and Northern Reflections. Her first and greatest interest was her family and having Sunday get-togethers and being a grandmother "NeeNee" to her two grandsons. She loved to read and do her lawn work and flowers. She also liked to help other people, cook for family and friends and go for Sunday drives in the countryside. She was a very kind person who was loved by everyone and will be missed by her family and friends. She is also missed by her pet of 16 years, her dog Chelsea. She is survived by her husband, her sons Brent (Lisa) and Jeffrey (Karen) and by her grandsons Joshua and Jacob. Visitation took place Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott. Funeral service was held in the chapel Wednesday, July 21 at 2 pm. Rev. Gerry Ring officiated. A committal service took place July 28 at Blue Church Cemetery. Cremation. Pallbearers were David Green, George Willard, Dave McKewen, Jim McKewen, Jerry Hermer and Doug Anderson. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil ses cinq enfants: Louise, Jean-Louis (Johanne), Alain, Luc (Josée) et Brigitte (Érik); quatre petits-enfants: Alexia, Lilianne, Émilie et Nicholas, tous de Montréal; trois soeurs: Laura Cyr (feu Jacques Cyr) de Montréal, Éva Désilets (Sylva Lagacé) de Notre-Dame-des-Érables et Gisèle Brun (Alfred) de Shédiac, ainsi que trois frères: Denis (Yvonne) de Bertrand, Donald (Marie-May) de Caraquet et Camille (Sylvie) de Matane. Deux frères: Médard (feu Gisèle Prudhomme) et Réginald (feu Antoinette Chevarie), l’ont précédé dans la tombe. Une messe commémorative sera célébrée en l’église Saint-Joachin de Bertrand, le dimanche 9 janvier, à 11h.

Helen Liscumb, 72 Helen Margaret Liscumb, of Prescott, died May 21, 2004 at Brockville General Hospital. She was 72. Helen was born Aug. 25, 1931 in Temiskaming, Ontario to parents Claude Burns and Mary Brown. She married Darcy Liscumb Nov. 29, 1952 in Maynard. Mrs. Liscumb was a line worker at RCA. She spent her life serving her community. In addition to her involvement with St. John Ambulance and as a first aid and CPR instructor, she also served with the Spencerville Fair and the Scouting movement. She was also a member of Wellington Rebekah Lodge #108. She is survived by her daughters Darlene (Mrs. Bazel Poulter) and Nancy (Mrs. William Oliver), grandchildren Darcy and Jennifer Poulter and Diana (Mrs. Steve Arbeau), Matthew and Andrew Oliver, sisters Marion Desjardin, Janet (Mrs. Dominic Farella), Elaine (Mrs. Rod Perrier), Linda Lionsdale (Kurt Roduner), Iris Burns and Joanne, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, granddaughter Tara and brothers Bob and Walter Burns. Visitation took place Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott. Funeral service was in the chapel May 24 at 11 am. The service was officiated by Rev. Laurie Milito. Pallbearers were Andy and Eddie Bertrand, Rick Howelling, Sean Thomunson, Allan Liscumb and Rick Tourger. Cremation with interment at Sandy Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent Palliative Care and the Humanitarian Services of Odd Fellows/ Rebekahs.

Dorothy Margaret Quinn, 80 Dorothy Margaret Mary Quinn (nee Mitten) died peacefully at Mayfield Retirement Residence in Prescott Tuesday, March 30, 2004. She was 80. She was born Jan. 29, 1924 in Edwardsburgh Township near Spencerville, the daughter of John Mitten and Helen Delaney. She spent her working years with the Department of Transport in Prescott before moving to Brockville after her marriage to Paul Quinn. They were married Aug. 23, 1952 at St. Laurence O'Toole Church in Spencerville. Mrs. Quinn was involved in the Catholic Women's League, worked as a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul Hospital and took an active interest in a variety of political endeavours. She served in several capacities during federal and provincial elections over the years. Mrs. Quinn was predeceased by her husband Paul, a long-time employee of Bell Canada, and by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Karen of Toronto, her son Wayne and his wife Terri of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and her son Brian of Victoria, B.C. She will also be sadly missed by two grandchildren, Katie and Sean of Dartmouth. She is also survived by two brothers, Peter, a resident of Mayfield Retirement Residence in Prescott, and Frank of Brockville. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mark's Church, Prescott, on Friday, April 2 with Father John Appelman as celebrant. Brian Quinn delivered a touching tribute at the conclusion of the mass. The committal service will be held at St. Mark's Cemetery at a later date in the spring. Pallbearers were Sean Quinn, John and Tom Mitten, Tom, David and Stephen Maville and John Shahan. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Mayfield Residence for their loving care, and to St. Vincent de Paul Palliative Care Unit and the Access Centre for Community Care. The family would like to extend very special thanks to Mrs. Quinn's nieces, Pat, Erin and Shannon Warren for their unending support to her and her children over the past year and a half. Donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Palliative Care Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society.

YOUNG, Walter. Late of Mission, B.C., formerly of LaSalle, Quebec passed away on December 28, 2004 at the age of ninety-one at Grant Street Lodge, Mission, B.C. He is survived by his son Stanley (Shirley) of Mission, BC, brother-in-law Donald (Shirley) Smith and their children of Quebec, nephew George Kelly and family of Ontario, and the Cadieu family in Montreal. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel in 1996. Walter was an athlete and enjoyed many sports. He won the Boston marathon in 1937. He retired as captain from the Verdun, Quebec fire department in 1978. He moved to La Salle, Que. in 1960 from Verdun and after his wife passed away in 1996 he moved to Mission, BC with his son.
