Irene E. Francois (Campbell), age 82, of Green Bay, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Rosiere, WI, to the late Joseph and Mary Charles. On May 1, 1946, she married Melvin Campbell at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1981. On June 22, 1996, she married Milton Francois at The Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2002. Irene was a longtime member of St. Francis Catholic Parish in De Pere, and more recently, The Holy Name of Mary Catholic Parish in Maplewood. Irene enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, sewing and bus tours with friends. COUTURE, Carmel L. -- Carmel L. Couture, 94, died Thursday, (December 30, 2004) at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born December 12, 1910 in Livermore Falls, ME, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Fortier Gelinas. She was a member of New Harvest Church. She and her husband owned and operated Del's Cleaning Service in Collinsville. She was predeceased by her husband, Odelpha "Del" Couture and a brother, Roland Gelinas. Survivors include, a daughter, Joyce Owens and her husband, Gary of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Lucienne Dame and Edwina Moulton, both of Farmington; a nephew, Edward Gelinas of Montreal, Canada; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday at New Harvest Church with Pastor A.J. Baisch officiating. Grand Strand Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family. ALBANY NY -- Alice M. Germain Sano, 94, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born and educated in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Albina LaFrance Germain. As a young woman she worked as an operator for the New York Telephone Company. Later she was a homemaker and worked with her husband in the family business, the former Sano's Grocery on Jefferson and S. Swan Streets. Mrs. Sano was a communicant of St. Teresa of Avila Church where she was also an altar worker. Throughout her life, Alice enjoyed having fun and was a great kidder who was verbally, but lovingly fresh at times. Her favorite pastime was shopping but would never give up a hot poker game if given the chance. She loved to dance and often sang along to the music playing. Alice also took bus trips with friends. Her talents included sewing and crocheting numerous projects and did so beautifully. Wife of the late John J. Sano Sr.; mother of John J. (Bea) Sano of Loudonville, Shirley (Ned) Norton of Albany, Geri Sano of Albany, June (Mrs. Paul Barbagallo) Sano of Bethlehem; grandmother of Nicole, John, Ned, John, Lisa, Paul, Tricia and Tracey; sister of Edward Germain of Bethlehem, Geri Germain of Albany and the late Frederick, William, Francis and George Germain, Margaret Hidley, Agnes Medina and Ceil DeMarco. Carol (Noel) Wisneski passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was born April 23, 1929, in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Matilda and Louis Noel. On July 24, 1948, she married Joseph Wisneski at Cathedral Church in Green Bay. In her younger years she was very active in the St. Ann’s and Mission Society. CHICOPEE - Mary H. (O'Connor) Paradis, age 73 of Chicopee, died peacefully on Thursday December 30, 2004, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary's appreciation of life, her compassion, and humility were a comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Russell) O'Connor and was a 1948 graduate of the former St. Jerome High School. A registered nurse, Mary graduated from the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She was employed at the Northampton State Hospital, Belchertown State School, Monson State Hospital, Worcester State Hospital, and ended her career at the Providence Hospital in Holyoke this past year. She was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association. Mary is survived by her children Patricia McCool and her husband Wayne of Belchertown, Jeffrey Paradis and his wife Colleen of Southampton, Larry Paradis of Shelburne Falls, and Russell Paradis of Holyoke. Nine grandchildren Jessica Paradis, Jason Paradis, Sara Paradis, Brianna McCool, Kerry Paradis, Jacob Paradis, Molly McCool, Katie Paradis, and Aimee Paradis; two great-grandchildren Bailey and Jordan. She was predeceased by her brother John M. O'Connor in 2003. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., followed by a mass in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Jerome Cemetery, all in Holyoke. Born in Pittsfield on May 29, 1925, daughter of Napoleon Pellerin and Grace Couture Pellerin Royer, she attended Pittsfield schools. A homemaker, Mrs. Chojnowski worked at GE at one time. She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and enjoyed growing flowers. Her husband, Louis A. Chojnowski Sr., whom she married June 1, 1946, died April 27, 1996. She leaves a son, Louis A. Chojnowski Jr. of Pittsfield; a daughter, Gracemary O'Connell of Pittsfield; a sister, Rita Pettibone of Southboro; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, she is survived be her husband of 47 years, Raymond W. Benoit, her sons; Richard P. Benoit of Worcester and Mark W. Benoit of Charlton; her daughters; Kristen E. Benoit of Worcester and Tricia C. Benoit of Bellows Falls, VT; her brother, William “Mike” Peltier of Worcester; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael R. Benoit. She was born Nov. 15th 1938 and raised in Worcester. Patricia was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Creighton) Peltier. Patricia’s dedicated service to those in need spanned over 20 years while employed with the Head Start Program of Worcester. Most recently she was employed part time at CVS Pharmacy. She was also an award winning volunteer for Girls Inc. of Worcester. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and cherished friend. Her true happiness was found in her family whether at Monday night dinners or the yearly family retreat to Cape Cod. CHAZY — Hersey Theodore Trombly, 90, of Baker Road died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his family.Mr. Trombly was born in Altona on March 18, 1914, the son of Wilbur and Aurelia (Pombrio) Trombly. He married the former Eleanor Reid at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville in 1942.Mr. Trombly was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy, St. Joseph’s Men’s Club, and an usher.Mr. Trombly was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society and was a life member of VFW Post 125 in Plattsburgh. He also enjoyed gardening and carpentry, building his own home.Mr. Trombly was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre where he was a sergeant in the "Cannon Company," a field artillery unit. He was a machinist at Plattsburgh Motor Service from 1932 until retiring in 1979.Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; two sons, Alan Trombly and his wife, Eunice, of Chazy and Neil Trombly and his wife, Ellen, of Eau Claire, WI; six daughters, Mary Ducharme and her husband, Richard, of Hemmingford, PQ, Lynn Wheeler of Columbia, MD., Rhonda Daley and her husband, David, of Chazy, Janice Rabideau and her husband, Kenneth, of Plattsburgh, Cheryl Weber and her husband, William, of Chazy, and Robin Kiesenhofer and her husband, Klaus, of Ithaca; two brothers, Virgil Trombly and his wife, Sonya, of Norwood and Lyles Trombly and his wife, Helen of Ingraham; three sisters, Beulah Lavarnway of Morrisonville, Alma Giroux of Ingraham, and Rita Fessette of Pt. Gladys W. Desrochers, 96, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at The Birches in Concord. She was born in Inverness, Quebec, the daughter of William and Harriet Little Walker. In the 1920s, her family moved to Barnet, Vt. She received her education at the University of Vermont, Boston University and the Concord College of Business. For 20 years, she taught in local high schools, including McIndoes Academy, St. Johnsbury Academy, Peacham Academy and Woodsville High School. She was a member of the Vermont State Teachers Association and the NEA. She was a lifelong member of the Barnet Congregational Church and the Monroe Grange and a longtime member of the Woman's Club of Concord. In 1940, she and her husband, Herbert "John" Desrochers, purchased the Old Homestead Inn in Barnet, which they operated for 35 years. In 1976, they retired to Concord, where they spent their remaining years. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1982. Four sisters, Sarah, Laura, Gertrude Hoar and Effie Mitchell, and three brothers, William, Harvey and Borden, also predeceased her. She is survived by two daughters, Laura of Concord and Linda Ward of Boise, Idaho; a son, John, his wife, Donna, and their daughter, Abbie, of Essex Junction, Vt.; as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm. at the Barnet Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Barnet Congregational Church, Barnet, Vt. 05821, or McIndoes Academy Association, c/o Carolyn Farman, P.O. Box 24, Barnet, Vt. 05821. On December 26, 2004, Lois Gail Gramchuk age 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a long journey through Alzheimers. She was predeceased by her parents Blois and Gertrude Allen. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Mel; daughter Tracey Gramchuk of Regina; daughter Charlene (Harry) Dahliwal of Coquitlam, BC; brother George (Linda) Allen of Edmonton, AB; and granddaughters: Kayla, Jasmine, and Sabrina; nieces, nephews, and not to forget her beloved dog Brandee and cat Tigger. In 1967 Lois graduated from the Regina General Hospital School of Nursing and worked at the General for 10 years. Lois then moved to the Red Cross where she was to remain for 16 years only to be retired on medical disability. Lois had a special gift in dealing with the public, being a dedicated and compassionate nurse to her hospital patients and Red Cross blood donors. It was said by many that Lois gave a real smooth needle. Lois also shared a role in helping to establish the Plasma Unit. Also, when the weather was overcast or if one had a bad day, you could always count on Lois’s million dollar smile and infectious laughter to calm troubled waters. Lois loved her family very much, especially her granddaughters. Lois’s family wish to acknowledge her many dear friends, especially Darlene Eason and Coleta Hess for their loving care and visits. Also, a thank you to Dr. Imy Ooi (Family Doctor) and to Dr. Stewart McMillan, R.N’s Bill Horbach, Marilyn Black, Jenny Bryson and to all the nurses and support staff at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Main 5, and Unit 2 – 5 for their compassionate care and comfort of Lois. LOIS BENOIT 91, of Juno Isles, FL, died Wednesday, December 29th at Hospice of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach. Born in Caton, England, she was a resident of Juno Isles for 11 years, moving from Webster, MA. She was of the Episcopalian faith and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed sewing. Mrs. Benoit was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Benoit, Sr. and brothers and sisters Frank, Ernest, Rex, Maude and Rona. WITHERBEE — Gilbert Gadway, 77, of Witherbee, N.Y., died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Florida Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, Fla., where he had his winter home.Gilbert was born in Mooers Forks, N.Y., on April 1, 1927 to Mose and Melvina (Brassard) Gadway.Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mary (Wilkens) Gadway; a brother Fred Gadway of Mooers Forks, N.Y.; a sister Ellen DeCosse of Mooers Forks, N.Y.; and two dear sisters-in-law Theresa Gadway of Witherbee and Thelma Gadway of Mooers Forks, N.Y. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brothers William, Arthur, Alfred, Amada, Joseph and Edward; and sisters Edith Noe, Eva Latourneau, Irene Cenci, Nettie Rabideau, Minnie Bobbie, Mary Girard and Bertha DeCoste.Mr. Gadway was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and snowmobiling. He was employed by Republic Steel for 23 years, became a member of Local 106 Operating Engineers and later worked for Moriah Central School for a number of years.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville, N.Y. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in the spring. Donations may be made in Gilbert’s memory to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad or to the American Lung Association.

HOULE, Henry A. -- Henry A. Houle, 93, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, (December 30, 2004). Mr. Houle was born March 30, 1911 in Nashua, NH, son of Amedee and Sarah Regina Houle. He was predeceased by his 14 brothers and sisters, the last being his sister, Alice A. Ferris on May 9, 2003. Mr. Houle is survived by his niece and her husband, Carol Ann and Michael J. Patulak Sr., of Glastonbury; his great niece and her fiance, Debra Ann Lepore and Carmine P. Cermola Jr. of East Hartford; also his daughter, Christine M. Cermola; three nephews, Ronald, William and David Ferris and their wives; along with many other nieces and nephews who will mourn his passing. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, from the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Pauls Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Gerard Lecourt -- He was born in Lowell, on Jan. 21, 1935, son of the late Joseph and Blanche (Carpentier) Lecourt.Mr. Lecourt retired from the Massachusetts Correctional Institute in Concord in 1989. While employed there, he had first been a prison guard and later, a transportation officer. He had previously been employed for 13 years as a loom fixer for the J.P. LEWISTON - Yvette D. Chinque, 86, of 78 Avon St., Lewiston, died Friday, Dec. 31, in her home with her family by her side.Born in Lewiston on July 31, 1918, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Helene Beaudoin LeBlanc. She was educated in Lewiston schools.She retired from Geiger Brothers in 1985 after working there for many years.On Oct. 12, 1946, she married Leon A. Chinque, who died in April, 1970.In her younger years she enjoyed and was an excellent skater and swimmer. She also loved to play beano. Yvette loved being a memere and great-memere to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her greatest joy.She is survived by three daughters, Sue Labonte and her husband, John, of Leeds, Joan Bouchard and her husband, Tom, and Diane Saucier and her companion, Jim Girardin, all of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Michelle Richardson, Richard Labonte, Troy Bouchard, and Kristine Beauchesne; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Spencer Richardson.

LEMIRE, Edward J., Jr. -- Edward J. Lemire, Jr., 83, of Newington, died Thursday, (December 30, 2004). He was born in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late Edward and Dora (Berard) Lemire, and resided in New Britain for several years before moving to Newington in 1950 and was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Before his retirement he had been employed by the New Britain Machine Co. for over 25 years and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Edward was a past commander of American Legion Post #6, in New Britain, the American Legion National Historical Society, a member of the 40 and 8 Snow Shoers, the New England Camera Club, the New Britain Camera Club, Charter Oak Photographic Society, and C.A.P. Inc. Edward is survived by his brother and best friend Roger Lemire and his wife Mary, of Manchester; his nephews Brian Lemire and his wife Linda, and Gary Lemire and his wife Joyce and their children Alexa, Garrett, and Matthew; and several cousins. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Newington Healthcare, especially Chateau East for their compassionate care during Edward's time there.
