Lucille T. (Plourde) Hamilton -- Of Oak Point, Middleboro, died peacefully on Jan. 1, 2005 at her daughter Joan's home in Mansfield, after a lengthy illness. She was 81 yrs of age. Beloved wife of William E. Hamilton, Sr. Devoted mother of William E. and his wife Gail Hamilton, Jr. of Naperville, IL, James P. Hamilton of Dewitt, MI, Joan and her husband Edward Bezarro of Mansfield, MA, Susan N. and her husband James Walsh of Fox River Grove, IL, Claire Hamilton and Staci McClanahan of Norton, MA and the late John Thomas Hamilton. Sister of M. Claire Plourde of E. Weymouth, Irene Nolet Schuler of Pembroke and the late Yvette Slattery of E. Weymouth. Loving grandmother of Billy, Lauren, Joe, Elyse, Kristen, Dalton, Grace and Jennifer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Yvonne Tobin Rossignol, homemaker, died of cancer at home, January 1, 2005. Yvonne was born in New Orleans, LA. She was 67 years old, and the daughter of the late Yvonne Chedville Tobin and William B. Tobin, Sr. A former resident of Jefferson Parish for the past thirty-four years, she was residing in Mandeville, LA at the time of her death. She is survived by, five sons, Earl, Jr., and his wife Michele, Kevin, and his wife Darlene, of Metairie, LA, Keith and his wife Chris, of Pearl River, LA, Michael and his wife Benetta of Mandeville, LA and Scott and his wife Beth of Violet, LA. She is also survived by her sister, Audrey Tobin Parker of Lafayette, LA and brother Patrick Tobin and his wife Barbara of Maurepas, LA. Yvonne is also survived by nine grandchildren, Erin, Randy, Erica, Madison, Tara, Molly, Scott, Jr., Sophia, Yvonne Rossignol and Johnny Ruckhaber and was expecting a new grandchild in May at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl Rossignol, Sr, two daughters, Infant Rossignol and Laurie Ann Rossignol, her brother William B. Tobin, Jr. Mrs. Rossignol was a graduate of Holy Angels Academy and a volunteer for many years at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School. She loved to travel and she and her husband made many trips, including, Hawaii, Alaska and Europe. She loved to fish and loved her camp where she entertained children, grandchildren and friends. She was also an avid dancer, belonging to several clubs, Bar-None Satellites, Schoolhouse Squares and Happy Pairs. Yvonne was an excellent seamstress and made most of her dance costumes. At the time of her death she was working on a quilt for her new granddaughter. She loved to play Dominos. Yvonne was an excellent Gardener and had a green thumb, growing many of her plants from seeds. She had become an enthusiastic bicyclist and rode the St. Tammany Trace faithfully after the death of her husband. She was also a member of the St. Tammany Newcomer's Association. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery), on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 10:00 AM. FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Barbara Jean Torvinen Therrian, 50, of Farmington Hills, Mich., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills. Beloved daughter of Wilfred and Hazel (Coponen) Torvinen of Houghton, Barbara was born on July 28, 1954 at St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock. After graduating from Ontonagon Area High School, Class of 1972, Barbara resided in the Detroit area where she raised three children and worked for nearly two decades as a medical assistant. She had many interests and enjoyed various hobbies, including painting and gardening. WATERVILLE -- Regina Florence Bouchard, 91, of Winslow passed away on Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit, in Waterville following a short illness.She was born on April 25, 1913, in Augusta, daughter of Napoleon and Emma (Landry) Breton, and attended Augusta schools.She married Lucien J. Bouchard of Waterville on Sept. 7, 1936. She was a Waterville resident most of her life, moving 35 years ago to Winslow, where she was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mrs. Bouchard was a devoted homemaker for most of her life and was employed periodically at C. F. Hathaway and Butler's Department Store. She was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne and was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II. Her hobbies included donating many hours of her time as a costume seamstress for several area theater groups, including Poulin Productions, The Waterville Players and the Waterville Music Theatre.She was predeceased by her husband in 1999; a son-in-law, Robert O. Cloutier; and her older brother, Adjutor "Red" Breton. Survivors include a son, Donald and his wife, Ellie, of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Cynthia Cloutier of Portland; and grandchildren Brett Bouchard and wife Anke, and Cristina Dougherty and husband Daniel, all of Virginia, Andrea Loubier and husband James Devenport of Texas, and Stephanie Weiss and husband Carl of Winslow. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Julian, Anson and Sander Bouchard, Henry Devenport, Kylie Dougherty, and William and Nicholas Weiss. She is also survived by a sister, Lydia Duquette of California; brothers Doriat "Jimmy" and Lionel of Augusta, Henry of Manchester, and Alfred "Norman" of Texas; a special cousin, Edwidge Fossett of Gardiner; and several nieces and nephews.At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monument Street, Winslow. EGERS, THELMA MAY The death of Thelma May Egers of Minto, NB occurred Saturday, January 01, 2005 at the Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Minto, NB she was the daughter of the late Walter and Annie (Bustard) Robertson. Thelma was a Retired Teacher and taught School in the Minto area for over 37 years. She had a Master of Education from the University of New Brunswick and was a member of the United Baptist Church of Minto and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Survived by her loving husband Bill Egers of Minto, NB; two sons, Darren W. Egers of Bathurst and Mark R. Egers of Ottawa, ON; a sister Erma Rosbouroug (Allan) of Fredericton, NB; two sister-in-laws Constance Egers of Chipman, NB and Evelyn Patterson (Bryan) of Dipper Harbour, NB; an Aunt Violet Kilfillen of Minto, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by an infant sister Eileen. Resting at the Minto Funeral Home 327-3490 with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and7-9pm. RITCHIE, LORNA JEAN - 80, of North Head, Grand Manan passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1st, 2005. Born in Pembroke, N.S., she was the daughter of late Emery and Elsie Wilcox, of Pembroke. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Doctor Railton G. Ritchie, as well as three brothers Avard, Willard and Stanley. Mrs. Ritchie was a Registered Nurse and worked in the Pugwash Hospital; the Children's Hospital, Halifax; The Infirmary, Halifax; the Red Cross Blood Clinic, Halifax; and then moving to Grand Manan to work at the Grand Manan Hospital. A member of Church of the Ascension, The Ladies Guild of Church of the Ascension, served as Treasurer for several years, both for the Guild and also the Sunday School, a member of the Grand Manan Seniors Club, the Grand Manan Curling Club, and the N.B. Nurses Association. Mrs. Ritchie is survived by three sons John (Holly) Ritchie, Donnie Ritchie, of North Head, Gerald (Gerry) Ritchie of Vancouver, B.C., two brothers Gerald Wilcox (Juanita), Hansport, N.S., Basil Wilcox (Millie), of Pembroke, N.S., and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Church of the Ascension, North Head, on Monday, January 3rd, 2005, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm from where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 4th, 2005 at 1:30 pm with Bishop George Lemon officiating, assisted by Lic. During the Second World War, Winnie was a volunteer member of the Royal Canadian Legion passing out care packages to incoming and outgoing personnel at Pier 21, as well as at Camp Hill Hospital, where she met her husband. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, Halifax; sons, Lawrence F., Fredericton, N.B.; Judson A., Cole Harbour; grandchildren, Ann LeBlanc, Heather, Alex and Ryan Grant; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Katie, Owen and Haley. HENRY L. CHAGNON SR. -- BURLINGTON — Henry L. Chagnon Sr., 80, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, in Fletcher Allen Health Care after a long illness. He was born in Burlington, Nov. 3, 1924, the son of Nelson L. and Delina (Bouchard) Chagnon. Henry served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. After the war he was employed as a professional tractor trailer driver for numerous area companies. He was a life member of the Howard Plante Post 782, VFW. Henry enjoyed many things, especially traveling, sightseeing, card playing and simply being with family. He leaves his wife of 22 years, Diane (Blanchard) Chagnon of Burlington; seven children and their spouses, Robert and Lynn, Henry Jr. and Beverly, Joseph Sr. and Alice, William and Sheila, Randy and Judy, and James and Lita Chagnon, and Kathy and Michael Mayville, all of Burlington; his six step- children and spouses, Diana and Joseph Hyrd, and Lyle Bessette and friend Jackie, all of Winooski, Carl and Sandra Bessette of South Hero, Theresa Bessette and friend Elmer of Burlington, Alan and Anita Bessette of Milton, and Brian Bessette and friend Heidi of Williston; many grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren and stepgreatgrandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Ernest and Lorraine Chagnon of Ocala, Fla., and Chester and Margaret Chagnon of Burlington; his sister, Lorraine Sweeney of Burlington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by several brothers, sisters and their spouses. Funeral services will be held this evening at 8 p.m. in Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Chapel, 97 Elmwood Avenue. During the visiting hours of 6 to 9 p.m. the VFW will conduct a Ritual Service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Eugene Gaudet MONTREAL, PQ - Eugene Gaudet of Montreal passed away in Montreal on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the age of 74. Born in St-Joseph, he was the son of the late Antoine Gaudet and the late Sarah Cormier. He worked at C.P. Rail in Montreal until his retirement. He is survived by his two sisters, Rita (Alfred) LeBlanc and Angeline (Euclide) LeBlanc both of St-Joseph; one brother, Thomas (Rita) Gaudet of St-Joseph and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Germaine Gaudet and Anne-Marie Gould and three brothers, Claude, Raymond and Yvon. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 7:00 pm at St-Thomas de Memramcook Roman Catholic Church, St-Joseph. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.

JARVIS, William Esmond Dec. 10, 1931 - Dec. 30, 2004 It is with great sadness the family of William Esmond Jarvis announces his passing in Kenora, Ontario on December 30, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. Esmond will always be remembered and greatly missed by his loving wife Leona (Seaberg) and youngest son Morgan; and from his previous marriage to Wanda (Thomson), daughter Cheryl (Bob Woods) and grandsons Brenden and Andrew in Ottawa, son Darrell (Jennifer) and granddaughters Emily and Sarah in Toronto, son Dennis (Kelly) and granddaughters Brianna and Paige in Ottawa. He was very proud of the successes and achievements of his children and grandchildren. Esmond was born at Gladstone, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents, Fredrick and Dorothy, brother Jim, sisters-in-law Jacky and Alice and brother-in-law Bert Ridd. He is survived by his sister Kate, brothers Ed (Jean), Alf, Jack (Ella) and Allan (Bea), and sister-in-law Marjorie as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Esmond maintained and valued a close friendship with his graduating class from the University of Manitoba. Esmond graduated from the University of Manitoba in Agriculture in 1955 and from Michigan State University (1960) with a Masters degree. He had a most satisfying career in Agriculture. The first 12 years were spent with the Manitoba Department of Agriculture in varied positions, including as Deputy Minister. In 1967, he joined Agriculture Canada in Ottawa to spend 10 years first as Assistant then as Associate Deputy Minister and also with the Grains Group. In 1977 he moved back to Winnipeg to serve as Chief Commissioner of the Canadian Wheat Board. In 1990, he was appointed Canada's High Commissioner to New Zealand and 5 neighbouring South Pacific countries, and Ambassador to Fiji. Upon his retirement, Esmond remained in New Zealand, returning in 2003 to Canada to live on Lake of the Woods in Ontario. Over his lifetime Esmond received many recognitions. He was awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Gold Medal for General Proficiency upon his graduation from the University of Manitoba. During his working career, he was awarded the Nuffield Travelling Fellowship and in 1981, the University of Manitoba Distinguished Alumni Award. Esmond enjoyed an active participation in numerous agricultural organizations, the United Church and many community groups. He loved sports, travel and outdoor activities and gained great satisfaction from building the lake home. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at St. Alban's Anglican Cathedral, Kenora, Ontario. Arrangements are in the care of the Brown Funeral Home in Kenora. MARTIN (BURNS), HELEN - (1915 - 2005) Died peacefully on January 1, 2005 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Widow of Raymond Martin, Helen is survived by four of her five children, Laurie and Dick of Bridgewater, N.S., Frances (husband Michael) of Yarmouth, N.S., and Rachel (husband Donald) of Halifax, N.S. She was predeceased by her daughter Paula (husband Gordon) of Edmonton, AB. She was "Grammy" to her eight grandchildren (Heather, Holly, Sarah, Georgie, Sydney, Alexandra, Oliver, and John Paul), and "G.G" to her three great- grandchildren (Suni, Henry, and Keegan). She is also survived by her sister, Eileen McDonald of Washington, D.C., her brother Gerard (wife Gladys) of Maugerville, N.B., and four nieces, Mary Burns, Cynthia Anthony, Suzanne Murphy, and Micheline Fortier. Helen was born to Walter Lawrence Burns and May Haughton on March 18, 1915 on the family farm in Maugerville where her brother Gerry and his wife Gladys remain to this day. She had many happy memories of a tight knit family being raised by a widowed father, and she and her siblings remained close throughout their lives. She left Maugerville for high school in Campbellton, and it was there that she formed the roots that would tie her to this community for most of her life. After attending Normal School in Fredericton and short stints instructing in Maugerville, N.B. and Glencoe, N.B., she returned to Campbellton to teach. There she met Raymond Martin, and the rest, they say, is history. Helen continued to teach after her five children had gone to school. They remained in Campbellton until 1991. Throughout these years, Helen was active outside the home serving at various times as District Commissioner for the Girl Guides of Canada, and as President of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Women's League. She made an impact on many lives through this work and was very active in her local church and community. She will be remembered as a loving mother and wife, a gifted teacher, an involved and well-known figure in her neighbourhood, and a warm and caring grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all those who love her. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Basilica, Halifax, on Friday January 7th, at 2 PM. Interment will take place next summer in Campbellton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or other charity of choice. Helen's family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of The Berkeley Halifax, which has been her home for the past thirteen years, Ansom Caregivers, RJF Healthcare, and to the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Program of QEII Hospital.

LEWISTON - Hubert J. Nadeau Sr., 90, of 13 Homefield St., Lewiston, died Friday, Dec. 31, at d'Youville Pavilion.He was born in Eagle Lake, on Feb. 2, 1914, the son of Noel and Derumene (Bosse) Nadeau. He was educated in Lewiston schools and was a lifelong resident of this community.He married Sybil Saucier on June 1, 1935. She died on April 14, 2004.He owned and operated his grocery store in New Auburn, then in his later years, worked for Rolandeau's Restaurant and Nadeau's Bakery until his retirement.He was an avid figure skater and, in his younger years, taught the sport to many local children and adults.He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening at his camp on Tacoma Lake where he spent his summers for over 50 years.Along with his wife, he was a volunteer at d'Youville Pavilion for 20 years.He leaves his four sons, Hubert Jr. of Lewiston, Paul and his wife, Cecile, of Auburn, Maurice and his wife, Diana, of Locke Mills, and Roland of Auburn; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers; his twin, Albert Nadeau of Lewiston, and Gerry Raymond and his wife, Frances, of Lewiston.

BIDDEFORD - Jacqueline M. Callahan, 85, of Simard Ave died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at St. Andre's Health Care Facility. She was born Jan. 14, 1919 in Biddeford, a daughter of Alfred and Lydia Gagnon Boutin and was educated at St. Andre's School and Biddeford High School.She was employed in local textile mills, and later at John Roberts Mfg. for 20 years, retiring in 1981. She then served as a personal assistant and cook in St. Andre's Church rectory for an additional twenty years, retiring at the age of 82. She considered the priests at St. Andre's Rectory to be a part of her extended family and cared for them as her own.Her husband, Robert Callahan Sr. died in 1972. She was also pre-deceased by a son Richard Callahan in 1984, also three brothers, Paul Boutin in 1979, Frank Boutin in 1993, Bernard Boutin in 2002, and a sister Lucille Desroberts in 2000.Surviving are a daughter, Michelle Fecteau and her husband Donald of Biddeford; a son, Robert Callahan Jr. and his wife Patricia of Spring Grove, Pa.; thee sisters, Ruth Shevenell and her husband Bob of Chelmsford, Mass., Paulette Madore and her husband Fernand of Saco, with whom she enjoyed many Sunday afternoons and shopping trips, and Giselle Hoctor and her husband Dick of Kennebunk; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; her life-long friend: Rita Beaulieu of Biddeford; several nieces and nephewsVisiting hours will be 7-9 p.m., on Monday, at Hope Memorial Chapel. McCORMICK, Gerry. Peacefully in his sleep at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, Ottawa on Wednesday, December 29, 2004. Group Captain Gerald Emmett McCormick O.B.E at the age of ninety-two. Son of the late Thomas and Anne McCormick. Predeceased by his brothers Harry, Clarence, Lionel, Bert, Jack, Wallace, and his sisters Vivian, Laura and Mrs. Evelyn Sullivan. Survived by nephews Harry, Frank, Ken, Mike and Doug McCormick also by nephews Jack, Bill and Allan Sullivan. Special thanks to Dr. Fraser and the personal care staff at the Robertson House and Dr. Ritter and the nurses, 3rd Floor at the Queensway, Carleton, Ottawa.
