Arthur Thompson BATHURST, NB - Arthur Thompson, 84, of Union Street, Bathurst, died Saturday, January 1, 2005, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late James Wilford and Ann Elizabeth (Campbell) Thompson. He served in World War II, with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada, Labrador and overseas. In his early years, he taught Sunday School and later became a Church Elder at the First United Church, Bathurst. He worked for the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his wife, the former Lillian Groat; he is survived by one son, Ross Thompson (Karen) of Moncton; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason and Matthew; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Scott. Resting at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst with visiting hours on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Tuesday from the Church one hour before the Funeral. A Legion service will be held from the Funeral Home on Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, January 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick Street, Bathurst. Douglas "Doug" R. Hope 1933 - 2005 "Doug" R. Hope, 71, of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, January 1, 2005. Born in Moncton, NB; he was the son of the late Leslie "Les" and Margaret (Coon) Hope. Doug worked for the CNR for 39 years and retired from the Accounting Dept. He was an avid dart player and played with the Arm Force Vets Dart Team, he was Past President of the 31 Club and Past President of the Intercolonial Credit Union. He also enjoyed playing the guitar. He is survived by his son, Brian Hope of Riverview; two grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) and Trevor Hope all of Moncton; two great grandchildren, Ryley and Brandyn of Moncton; four sisters, Donna and her husband, Bob Oke of Moncton, Joyce and her husband, Llylle Carroll of Ontario, Marilyn Melnyk of Moncton, Cathy Vanbuskirk of Ontario; a brother, Darrell Hope and his wife, Catherine of Moncton and by several nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his wife, Norma (Harris) Hope in 1986. Visitation is at the Riverview Funeral Home, Pine Glen Road, Riverview on Monday, January 3, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. PERKINS, MARY LYNN The death of Mary Lynn Perkins, wife of the late Rev. Gerald Perkins of New Bandon, occurred on Sunday, January 02, 2005, in Carroll's Crossing. Born in Maine, she was the daughter of Mary (Connat) Duncan and the late Cecil Duncan. Mary Lynn enjoyed going to church and spending time with children. She is survived by one son, John Perkins and his wife Rhoda of Carroll's Crossing; one daughter, Joy Long and her husband Halarian of New Bandon; one daughter-in-law, Vickey and her husband Darren Munn of Ludlow; nine grandchildren, Stephen, Rachelle, Mandy, Josh, Kelsey, Jenna, Kyler, Jared, Kaylyn; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by one son, James and one brother, William Duncan. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McNamee Pentecostal Church, McNamee. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, at 2 pm at the church with Rev Cole Price officiating and assisted by Rev Russell Morehouse. Brother to Rene (1984) and Jeannette Trepanier (1980), Anna Trepanier and Clifford (1974), Paul (1973)and Cecile (Rivait), Marie Bezaire and Rosario (1992), Edna Benoit and Gabriel (1995). DOUGLAS SAMUEL SNIDER Douglas Samuel Snider, 63, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004. Doug was born June 28, 1941 in Fort Frances to Dora and Roy Snider. He had lived in Fort Frances all his life. He loved being outdoors and had worked as a logger for many years. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering. He is survived by his sons, Don and John; siblings, Pat (Joan), Bill, Louise Grant, Ralph (Judy), Bev (John) Falloon, Catherine, Lyle (Leathia), and Robert (Rose); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and good friend, Paul. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Dora; brother, James; and sisters, Mildred Zolub and Thelma Snider. At Doug’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held in the spring. If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Fort Frances Community Chest, or the Palliative Care Volunteer Program.

Edith Cormier Edith Cormier, 83, of Kenneth E. Spencer's Memorial Home, Moncton, formerly of Broadway Street, Moncton, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005 at the home. Born April 3, 1921 in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Albénie and the late Delphine (LeBlanc) LeBlanc. She was a caretaker for the handicaped prior to her retirement and was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary Legion Branch #54. She is survived by a daughter, Marie-Thérèse of Moncton; a son, Roger (Annette) of Cocagne Cape; two sisters, Albertina Auffrey of Moncton, Lorraine Shea of Wisconsin and by two grandchildren, Marc and Denise. CHRISTIE, RAY ELTON Ray E. Christie of Temperance Vale passed away January 2, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was born at Temperance Vale in 1918, a son of the late George and Celia (Harris) Christie. Ray was a farmer and a mechanic who operated a service station for several years. He also drove school bus for a number of years. He was a member of the Maple Ridge Wesleyan Church and especially enjoyed the singing at the church services. Ray is survived by two daughters, Celia Sharp (Stephen), Maple Ridge and Pansy Carr (Donnie), Temperance Vale; two sons, Edwin Christie (Linda) and Leon Christie (Judy), both of Temperance Vale; three sisters, Joyce Thornton (Arnold), Waterville, York County, Grace Bragdon, Stairs Hill and Vesta Thornton, Somerville; two brothers, John Christie (Kathleen), Temperance Vale and Fred Christie (Alta), Waterville; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, J. Marie (Reed) Christie in 1978; an infant son, Aubrey; four sisters, Ada Trail, Doris MacDonald, Ella Gray and Nina Christie; four brothers, Robert, Austin, Harold and Perley Christie and a great granddaughter, Kerstin Sharp-Yerxa. She moved to Florida in 1975 from Lewiston. She was Roman Catholic.During her lifetime, she co-owned and operated a small country store with her husband, worked in the woolen mill and as a nurse's aide in local nursing homes.In addition to being an avid reader, she enjoyed sewing, ceramics, music and spending time with her family.She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Mayo, St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughters, Geraldine Vaillancourt of Maine, Dianna Mayo of Indiana, Nancy Fabel of North Carolina, Mary Ellen Wooley and Melissa J. Crone, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, Tim Mayo of California; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Sister M. Ignacita Marcelin, SSF, nee Dolores Cecilia Marcelin, daughter of the late Leopold C. Marcelin and Cecilia Turner Marcelin, died on December 31, 2004 at Methodist Hospital. She was 93. Sister Ignacita was born in New Orleans and lived here for many years. Sister Ignacita entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family on September 8, 1933; professed temporary vows on May 30, 1936 and perpetual vows on August 15, 1942. She was a member of the Congregation for 71 years and ministered to God's people in Louisiana in the following locations: St. Catherine of Sienna and Ascension Catholic in Donaldsonville; St. Francis Xavier, Madisonville, St. Francis of Assisi, Breaux Bridge, St. Peter Claver, Grand Coteau, St. Paul, Lafayette, All Saints, ALgiers, Our Lady of Grace, Reserve, Marksville Catholic, Marksville, St. Mary's Academy and the Motherhouse in New Orleans. She also served in Texas at Our Mother of Mercy and St. Nicholas in Houston, Holy Rosary in Galveston, Holy Spirit and St. Joseph in Marshall. She lived for one year at Marylhurst in Oregon. Sister is survived by nieces and grand nieces. Family members and friends are invited to attend the Wake Service on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 4:00 p.m.. LATHAM NY -- Hubert H. Marsolais, 88, of Latham died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia Volweider Marsolais. Born March 9, 1916 in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Adelard and Anna Marsolais. He was a graduate of St. Agnes Parochial School in Cohoes and the Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes. He attended the University of Maine. Hubert lived in the Woodlawn section of Schenectady for many years before moving to Latham in 1996. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific on the U.S.S. Reynolds destroyer escort. After the war he returned to the family business and retired in 1986. Survivors include his one brother Roland Marsolais of Latham and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several siblings. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 10:15 a.m. from the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Church, Albany Street, Schenectady where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Marie (Augustine) Normandin. Mrs. Souza enjoyed reading the Bible. She loved animals, plants, the outdoors and music. She had a special bond with Kathleen Brennan from St. Anne's Hospital, who consoled her over the past few months. Survivors include a son, Donald Dupras Jr. of Fall River; a daughter, Renee Aguiar, and her husband, Robert, of Fall River; a brother, Dennis Normandin, and his wife, Joyce, of New Bedford; three sisters, Joan Chaves and her husband, Lawrence, of Arizona, Norma Gagne and her fiance, Steven Rivest, and Paula Silva and her husband, David, all of Fall River; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
