Ogden "O.J." Thibodeaux, 73, of Nederland died, Saturday January 1, 2005 at Park Place Medical Center in Port Arthur. A native of Church Point, Louisiana, he lived in Nederland for 41 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus # 5145 in Nederland, and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife Jane, of 55 years. He was a wonderful and caring father to Ronald Thibodeaux and wife Linda, Darlene Bonsall and husband Scott, Brent Thibodeaux and wife Lisa, and Tina Molina and husband Jose. He was grandfather to Ashley, Christopher, Jeremy, and Courtney Thibodeaux, Melissa Edwards, Scotty and Nikki Bonsall, and Mariah and Megan Molina. He was great grandfather to Jessika Edwards and Gavin Thibodeaux. He is also survived by five brothers and three sisters. A truck driver for 35 years, he enjoyed retired life by cooking, working in his shop, and spoiling his grand and great grandchildren. His smile, laugh, and his whistling of Cajun tunes will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A mass of Christian burial will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Rev. Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard's in Nederland. A scriptural rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday evening at the mortuary.

Lavallee, Harriet R. -- December 31, 2004 Harriet R. Lavallee, 71, of Syracuse, died Friday. She was a resident of Iroquois Nursing Home and had retired from P&C Foods. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Alfred G.; her daughter, Lynette Lavallee-Shultz of Yorktown, VA; three sons:Mark of Canastota, Robert of Red Creek and James of Syracuse; four brothers: Gerald Toole, Clifford Toole, John McNamara and William McNamara; and five granddaughters. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late A. Sidney and Elizabeth (Cullen) Brown. He was a retired electrician with CN Moncton and was an adherent of St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford. He was a member of Temple Lodge 57 Mulgrave, the Causeway Shrine Club, Port Hawkesbury and Fidelity Chapter 36 Order of the Eastern Star, Riverview, NB. He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce McCallum; daughter, Carol (Doug Halfpenny), Sand Point; sons, Bill (Kim), Upper Cloverdale, NB, Jim (Vicky), Riverview, NB, Donald (Evelyn), Stellarton; brother, Arthur, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessica, Heidi, J.C., Kevin and Lisa. Kenneth Earl, 97 ATHENS -- Kenneth Harry Earl, 97, of RR 3, Athens, died December 13 at Brockville General Hospital, two weeks after breaking his hip. He was born May 14, 1907, in Soperton to Wellington Earl and the former Margaret Richards. On January 16, 1932 he married Edith Gertrude Brown in Addison United Church. He was a dairy farmer on the Wiltsetown Road, where he lived for 72 years. His whole life revolved around farming. He was still doing the plowing when he was 93 and as recently as this past summer would go out to his shop in the barn and work on various woodworking projects. Mr. Earl is survived by his son Cecil Earl and wife Beverly and his daughter Neita Simpson and husband Merton, all of RR 3, Athens. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kenneth Simpson and wife Jacqueline of Seattle, Wash., and Karen Earl and Robbie Earl of RR 3, Athens; two great-grandchildren, Kaia and Nicola Simpson of Seattle; several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Orma Earl of Winchester. He was predeceased by his wife Edith on March 1, 1997; five brothers, Wesley, William, Clifford, Charlie and Raymond Earl; four sisters, Luella Howe, Alma Alguire, Hazel Fulford and Mabel Haystead; and two grandsons, Ronald Simpson and Kevin Earl. Friends called at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, where on December 15 the funeral was held, with Pastor David Downing of Highway Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial followed at Athens Cemetery. The pallbearers were Bob and Bryce Earl, Howard Morrison, Mark Weir, Keith Brown and Todd Lovelock. The honorary bearers were Karl Wood, Ronald Moulton, Wally Singleton, Allan McCann, Elmer Moulton, Raymond Houle, Wellington Earl and Hilton Earl. Catherine Guitard (1906-2005) l'Acadie Nouvelle - 3 janvier 2005 POINTE-VERTE – À la Villa Sormany, le samedi 1er janvier 2005, à l’âge de 98 ans, est décédée Catherine Guitard, épouse de feu John Guitard, autrefois de Pointe-Verte. Elle était fille de feu Aimé Roy et de feu Josephine Comeau. Elle laisse dans le deuil quatre filles: Jeanine (Conrad Mandala) et Gilberte (Randy Cracknell), toutes deux de Toronto, Denise (Ray Bennett) et Monique (Henry Comeau), toutes deux de Bathurst; un fils, Gilbert (Mary) de Montréal, ainsi que 18 petits-enfants, 19 arrière-petits-enfants et plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines. Deux fils: Roger et Paul-Émile; une fille, Andrea; une soeur, Emerentienne, ainsi que cinq frères: Albert, Célestin, Emile, Hector et Ephrem, l’ont précédée dans la tombe. LISBON FALLS - Ronald R. Soucy, 66, of 26 Center St., Lisbon Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at home with his family by his side following a brief illness.He was born in Rumford, on July 7, 1938, the son of Roland and Simone (Lemay) Soucy.He attended Rumford schools and was a 1957 graduate of Stephens High School.After graduation, he delivered newspapers and magazines to various locations in Maine and New Hampshire.Upon completion of two years in the Army he was a store manager at Farah Brown. In 1966, he joined the Postal Service as a mail carrier in Rumford.On Feb. 10, 1968, he married the former Janice Lenhart. Together they made their home in Rumford, until he was transferred by the postal service to Lisbon Falls, where he delivered mail until he retired in 2001, with 34 years of service.One of his accomplishments during this period that he was proud of, was receiving an award for driving one million miles without an accident.Among his favorite enjoyments were harness racing, Foxwoods, and the Saturday night Yahtzee games with special friends Tina and Byron. He also loved to travel and spend many hours on his computer searching for places to visit. His biggest enjoyment was going to Disney World and Disney Land. He spent many vacations at both parks and had decorated a room in his home with all of his Disney souvenirs.He leaves behind his wife, Janice, of 36 years; a son, Aaron and his wife, Helga, from San Deigo, Calif.; and two step-grandchildren, Rachael and Jerimiah.He was predeceased by his parents, and a baby sister, Claire.

LEWISTON - Fernande J. Masselli, 67, of Sabattus, passed away on Friday, Dec. 31. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving children.She was born on Jan. 8, 1937. She was born and raised in Lewiston. She was of Catholic faith and attended church in the chapel at the convent in Sabattus."Fern," as she liked to be called, lived life to the fullest. She was happiest when in the presence of family and friends, of which she had many.Cooking and entertaining were her passions, followed by crafting. Everyone close to Fern had something hand-made by her. She knitted mittens and hats for the underprivileged. She also loved cross-stitching, rubber stamping and playing cards.Prior to her retirement in August of 1999, Fern worked at Rite Aid delivering medicine, and before that at Saunder's Florist delivering flowers.After her retirement, she enjoyed taking trips, especially to Florida to spend time with her children and grandchildren.She is survived by her beloved companion, Kenneth E. Foisy; her five children, Debra Clarke and her husband, Peter, Carol Roy and her husband, Marcel, Sheila Masselli and her fiancé, Raymond Booth, Lisa Bussiere and her husband, Jeff, Tony Masselli and his wife, Lisa; her nine grandchildren, Tatum and Shelby Reynolds, Pvt. 1st Class, Nicole Roy, U.S. Army, Jennifer Dupuis and her husband, Rory, Jason Wilcox and his wife, Leyla, Danielle Cyr, Tristan Bussiere, Bret and Alex Masselli; and her two great-grandchildren, Hailey Champaign and Jackson Wilcox.She is predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Josephine Vachon; and her siblings, Fleurette, Theresa, Monique, Charlotte, Paulette and Harold.

Born in Sussex, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Rosa (Parks) Freeze. SPARKS, H. ROY - At his residence on Saturday, January 1st, 2005; Howard Roy Sparks, of the Loch Lomond Villa; formerly of Meenan's Cove; husband of the late Nelda (Aubie) Sparks. Born in Saint John, he is the son of the late Isaac and Rebecca (Baggs) Sparks. In earlier years Roy was an Occupational Therapist for the former Provincial Hospital. He had lived a number of years in Saint John and before moving to the Villa; he had lived 22 years in Meenans Cove. He was a member of Quispamsis United Church. A former member of St. Mary's Band having served over 50 years. He had also served overseas with the Royal Canadian Engineers Band during World War ll. He is survived by his two sons Ken Sparks (Elaine) of Rothesay, and Ronald (Marylou) of Ottawa, one daughter Janet Sparks of Calgary, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Roy was the youngest and last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at Castle "Kings Chapel" Funeral Home, 154 Hampton Road, Rothesay, NB (506 -849 - 1702) from where the service will be held on Wednesday, January 5th, 2005 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 12:00 noon until service time at 1:00 pm. Her wonderful way of caring about others was demonstrated both personally and professionally and her compassion, strength, beauty, wit and wisdom touched the hearts and lives of all who knew her. We would especially like to thank Dr. Sharon Morrin of the Queensway Carleton Hospital for her devoted and professional care of Mickie. RYAN, Isobel Mary Isobel Mary Ryan (nee Wadsworth) passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at St. Patrick's Home in Ottawa. Born to Thomas and Mary (nee Longridge) in Kamloops, on February 17, 1918. Isobel grew up in the Okanagan Mission, alongside her cousins Kitty and Joyce Haverfield. She attended St. Margaret's in Vernon, the Vancouver School of Art and the Manchester School of Art in England. At the outbreak of WWII Isobel joined the Canadian Women's Army Corp and as she said, "...spent the war years making coffee and tea." When the war ended Isobel and her CWAC friend Mary Scott along with Geoff Scott set up a restaurant in the Gatineau. She married Ed Ryan in 1954 and they set up house in Old Chelsea. She continued painting and took a great interest in gardening and Canadian history. Predeceased by her husband in 2001, Isobel Ryan is lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Her friends and family will always remember Lid and Eddy's warm hospitality and the beautiful lake and gardens in Old Chelsea where they lived so graciously. The family will receive friends at St. Stephen's Church, Old Chelsea this Wednesday from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Lawrence Joseph ``Larry'' Beaulieu of North Attleboro, a retired plater and veteran, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence after a month-long illness. He was 82. Born in Pawtucket, R.I., Mr. Beaulieu had lived in North Attleboro for most of his life. He served in the Army during World War II as a surgical technician. A plater for the former Mossberg Press Steel in Attleboro and Cumberland, R.I., Mr. Beaulieu retired after 25 years in 1984. A semi-professional athlete in his youth, he enjoyed bowling in his later years. After taking up golf during his retirement, Mr. Beaulieu worked as a starter at the Chemawa Golf Course in North Attleboro for 10 years and was a member of the United Steel Golf League. Mr. Beaulieu was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, North Attleboro. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Annette Marie Theresa (Forand); two daughters, Janet D. Taylor of Pawtucket and Laurie-Ann P.M. of North Attleboro; his brother, Vincent of Providence; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at noon tomorrow at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, North Attleboro. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
