AUGUSTA -- Rita (Giroux) Theriault, age 82, of Chamberlain Street and formerly of Church Hill Road and Lisbon Falls died Dec. 31, 2004, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was born in Augusta on July 17, 1922, the daughter of Thomas Giroux and Clara (Bilodeau) Giroux.Prior to her retirement in 1987, Mrs. Theriault was employed by the state of Maine for more than 10 years. She was a homemaker in her own home for most of her life.Mrs. Theriault was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Theriault, in December of 2000. She was also predeceased by a brother and several sisters.Surviving are a son; a daughter; a sister; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Visiting hours are 3-5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. LaPorte, Sheridan J., age 85 of Hollywood died December 29, 2004. Mr. LaPorte attended Northeastern University where he studied metallurgy. He worked at the William S. Haynes Co., the world's foremost maker of flutes, and during World War II, he used his knowledge of metals at the Submarine Signal Co. After the war, he began his career in the automobile business moving from Boston to Buffalo in 1953 to work for Chrysler. In 1958 he moved with his family to Hollywood, FL to join his father at LaPorte Real Estate Co. Although he enjoyed real estate, he chose to return to the automobile business. He retired from BMW of North America as district manager for Florida. He was a member of Kiwanis. He also was a charter member of the Homewreckers Club. During his early days, Mr. LaPorte sang with dance bands in the Boston area. He continued to sing as a hobby and also enjoyed playing the ukulele, woodworking, gardening and especially watching football games involving the Miami Dolphins and his children's and grandchildren's rival college teams. Mr. LaPorte is predeceased by son David T. LaPorte. Survived by his beloved wife Katherine; sons Sheridan R. and Robert LaPorte; daughters Diane Smith and Jan Edmunds; sister Evelyn Davis; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson. AUGUSTA - Rita Marie (Bonsant) Gaslin, 82, of Willow Street, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 in the emergency room of MaineGeneral Medical Center.She was born in Augusta on June 28, 1922, the daughter of Alfred Bonsant and Angelin (LeClair) Bonsant.Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Gaslin was employed by Kennebec Valley Medical Center for 10 years. She was also a homemaker in her own home for most of her life. She raised a family of eight children.Mrs. Gaslin enjoyed taking care of her grandkids, was an avid beano player, loved scratch tickets, liked playing cards, family gatherings, babies, shopping and she had a passion for desserts.She was involved with the activities at Kennebec Plaza and she was eager to run errands for her neighbors at Kennebec Plaza where she lived for almost 20 years.Mrs. Gaslin was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Arthur Bonsant, Clement Bonsant and Richard Bonsant; and two sisters, Florida 'Babe” Fitzgerald and Yvette Manwaring.Surviving are four sons, Theodore Bonsant of Windsor, Earl Gaslin of Hartford, Conn., Harold Gaslin of Verona Island and Rocky Gaslin of Augusta; four daughters, June Dunn of Manchester, Mildred Tondreau of Sacramento, Calif., Rita Daigle of Plano, Texas and Lisa Greenwood of Vassalboro; two brothers, Gerard Bonsant and Raymond Bonsant, both of Augusta; Theresa Dube of Augusta; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. MORSE, REV. ROGER WARNER - Rev. Roger Warner Morse, 74, of Grand Harbour, Grand Manan passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on Wednesday evening December 29th. He leaves to mourn his wife Sonia, two daughters, Sara (Ben) Nest, Kennebunk, Maine, Johanna Johnson, Oceanside, Calif., one son Gregory (Carol) Morse, Elliott, Maine, and five grandchildren. He was the pastor at the Advent Christian Church, Woodwards Cove for the past fifteen years, he also was a meat cutter by trade and spent a number of years in the meat business. He attended and graduated from the Essex Agricultural College, Middleton, Mass., and later attended the Gordon Divinity College, Hamilton, Mass. He served on the Grand Manan Ministerial Society, the Board of Directors of the Grand Manan Action Ministries, the G.M. Alzheimer Society, and was a very community spirited person and devoted himself to helping those people who needed help, he harvested hundreds of cords of wood, cut, split and delivered to those who needed fire wood. The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Sunday, January 2nd, at 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Advent Christian Church, Woodwards Cove, Grand Manan, N.B. on Monday, January 3rd, 2005 at 1:30 PM, with interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hill Road, Grand Manan, N.B. LeClair, 75, formerly of 43 Highland Ave., Augusta, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at MaineGeneral Rehab and Nursing Care Facility at Glenridge Drive with her family at her side.She was born in Farmington on March 28, 1929, the daughter of Wilfred and Aurora (Morin) Poulin.Mrs. LeClair was a communicant of St Andrew's Catholic Church, a member of the Maine State Retirees Association and the American Association of Retired Persons. She had been employed by the City of Augusta School Department for many years.She was a wonderful wife and mother; she loved gardening and helping out at the Club Calumet when called upon to do so.Her husband, Donald G. LeClair, died Oct. 29, 1988.Survivors include three sons, Michael "Mike" LeClair and Gary LeClair of Augusta and his significant other, Nancy Hall Delaney of Litchfield, and Roger LeClair and his wife, Janet, of Norfolk, Mass.; two daughters, Lisa Blanchard and her husband, Steven, of Sidney and Susan Lapointe and her husband, Dan, of Chelsea; a sister, Gloria Chapman of Augusta; also eight grandchildren, Jason Blanchard and Lauren Blanchard, both of Sidney, Stephanie LeClair, Nicholas LeClair and Benjamin LeClair, all of Norfolk, and Jay Lapointe, Kristin Lapointe and Sophia Lapointe, all of Chelsea; two aunts and an uncle, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. West Warwick -- OLINA A. (SICARD) MAIER, 99, of Legris Avenue, a retired dietitian, died yesterday at the West View Nursing Home.She was the wife of the late Anthony "Arnold" Maier. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Amabel and Elizabeth (Desaulnier) Sicard. She was formerly a resident of the Greenville section of Smithfield and Providence.Mrs. Maier was a dietitian at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence, for 15 years, retiring in 1972.She leaves several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Omer, William, Emile and Ruby Sicard, Angelina Theroux, Clementine Fagnant, Eva Guertin, Cordelia Desrocher and Rose Pichotte.The funeral will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Robert A. BOISJOLIE-Brian Scott Boisjolie, 44, of Hacienda Heights, died on Tuesday December 28, 2004 in Whittier. Mr. Boisjolie, a chauffer, was born on June 4, 1960 in Holyoke, Massachusetts and enjoyed composing music and model train collecting. He is survived by his wife Sandra Boisjolie, his daughter Cassandra Boisjolie, parents Leonard and Dolly Boisjolie, three brothers, and one sister, he will also be dearly missed by his wife's mother, h er sisters and their families. SOMERSWORTH — Rita Anna Lefebvre, 73, formerly of Park View Terrace and Sunbridge of Rochester died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Rochester with her sister holding her hand, her last request. She now goes to the loving arms of her God and will be with all her loved ones gone before her.She was born in Somersworth on Aug. 7, 1931, and was the daughter of Alcide and Alice (Goulet) Lacasse. She was raised in Somersworth and attended St. Martin Academy. She had resided in this community most of her life. Prior to retirement she had been employed with several area shoe shops as a shoe stamper. She was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church.She was loved by many and will be missed by all. QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- Una M. Forcier, age 98, of Centennial Dr. and formerly of Ticonderoga, Port Henry and Plattsburgh, died Friday, December 31, 2004 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law and where she had resided for the past 17 years. Born on October 22, 1906 in Paradox (formerly known as Letsonville), she was the daughter of Samuel and Belle (McMurtry) Letson. Una was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court of Mary Immaculate #479 since 1934. She was an avid bridge player and a charter member of the Monday Bridge Club of Plattsburgh. She continued playing bridge in Queensbury until November of 2004. She was a member of the Mother's Club of the North Country. Una was a loving, caring lady who was generous with her time and talents. She was a hospital volunteer as well as a volunteer of many years to local health drives. She also enjoyed helping less fortunate families, especially at Christmas time. She was a lady of great wisdom and patience. Her family and friends feel truly blessed to have had her in their lives. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Raymond H. Forcier, who died on November 27, 1992; her ten brothers and sisters; as well as one grandson, Scott Monto, and a daughter-in-law, Doris C. Forcier. Survivors include her three children, Gerald R. Forcier and his wife Jean of Westport, N.Y., Patricia M. Monto and her husband Gerald of Oswegatchie, N.Y., Monica A. Grosskopf and her husband Alan of Queensbury; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, Ticonderoga with the Rev. Barry Lonergan officiating. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Wilcox and Reagan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ticonderoga in the spring. LATHAM -- Isabell V. Roy, 79, formerly of Rotterdam, surrounded by her loving family, died Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. She was born January 13, 1925 in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Mikucki. Isabell attended St. Mary's School in Schenectady. She was a homemaker and supported her husband and his business, the former Roy's Garage on Altamont Ave. in Rotterdam. Isabell is the wife of the late Robert A. Roy. She was predeceased by her siblings, Michael, Joseph, James Mikucki and Jean Ross. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Deborah A. Danz and her husband Stephen; her devoted grandchildren, Shawn and Stephanie Danz, all of Latham. She is the sister of Jane Smialek of Schenectady and sister-in-law of Phyllis Mikucki of Norristown, Pa. Isabell is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many kind neighbors that she befriended on her many walks throughout the neighborhood over the years. HARVEY, ALLAN JOHN - Allan John Harvey passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at his home in White Rock, B.C. after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Allan was born in Stanley, New Brunswick on November 8, 1948 to the late John and Betty Harvey (Bird). Allan spent most of his school years in Ottawa, Ontario where he graduated from Algonquin Business College. After college, Allan moved to Toronto and spent many successful years as a senior executive in the telecommunications industry. During these years he also completed the Executive MBA Program at Western University in London, Ontario. In the years following, Allan and his wife of 23 years settled in White Rock, B.C. He spent many years in business consulting as well as helping his wife operate Cyclone Taylor Figure Skating in Vancouver. Allan will be greatly missed for his outstanding enthusiasm, passion for life, his family, his animals and of course.... GOLF! He is survived by his loving wife Deborah Taylor and his two daughters, Tarrah Harvey of White Rock and Julie Stahle (Mark) of Brampton as well as his son John Harvey (Andria) of Mississauga. He will also be greatly missed by his two sisters, Carol Dixon (Ron) and Joan Harvey (Paul Leroux) of Ottawa and Montreal and many relatives living in B.C., New Brunswick, and across Canada. ROCHESTER — Norman L. Marcotte, 76, of 5 Roy Street passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 30, 2004. He was born in Rochester, N.H., on June 4, 1928, the son of the late Leo and Yvonne Marcotte. He attended local schools, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946 and served for six years in the military. After working at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until 1970, he transferred to the U.S. Postal Service in Rochester until he retired in 1988. For the past sixteen years he was a bailiff for the Strafford County Superior Court. He was a member of American Legion Post 0007, Elks, the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Veterans and ACA-Canado.He leaves his wife of 51 years, Stella (Begin) Marcotte; his son, Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey N. Marcotte and his wife, Amy Marcotte; three grandchildren, Lindsey and Leah Marcotte, and Brandi Calaway. He also leaves his two brothers, twin brother Norbert of Rochester and Stuart, Fla., and Roland and his wife, Donna, of Derry; a brother and sister-in-law Roland and Mary Begin of Rochester; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rainville and companion Edmond Turgeon of Rochester and St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. AUBURN - Sudie Lee Vachon, 93, of 81 Paradise Road, Bethel, died Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs' Home in Auburn after a short illness.She was born in Aiken County, S.C, on Jan. 6, 1911, the daughter of Lafayette and Minnie Lewis Gunter. She was educated in public schools of the county and by tutors on the staff of the cotton plantation owned by her family.She established an early interest in plant culture, especially flowers, and in the study of birds, subjects which were reinforced in knowledge during her entire lifetime. Interestingly, this unusual choice of interest provided her first opportunity for gainful employment by appointment on the staff of some of the leading resort hotels in Georgia, New York, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, in charge of flower arrangements. She built a reputation of one who could make anything grow.As the years went on, she shared her talent freely among the institutions, organizations, churches, societies and schools of the community, especially during the many years she was associated with Gould Academy and assumed responsibility for the flower arrangements for the school's special events as the headmaster's wife.With her love of nature, she also enhanced her knowledge of bird life and derived her greatest pleasures from watching them at her variety of feeders, at the bird bath, in their nesting habits and at play. She could identify each specie by sight or by call. It was not unusual to have her interrupt a conversation in the midst of her garden by a comment such as, "hark, hear that cardinal calling" as the bird paused briefly in a neighboring tree to signal a last stop before arriving at the feeder.On June 6, 1931, she married Edmond J. Vachon and together they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 6, 2001. He died in September of 2001.She was very active in community affairs, a member of the West Parish Congregational Church UCC and its Ladies Circle, an honorary and life member of the Bethel Historical Society with 14 years service as chairwoman of the Garden Committee, and an active contributor to the Oxford County Extension Service.In September 1988, the Bethel Historical Society presented her with the Marjorie MacArthur Noll Volunteer Service Award for outstanding volunteer service to the society.She traveled extensively abroad. In 1963, she joined her husband who was already in Europe participating in seminars in Comparative Education sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Together they retraced the steps of the advancing Allied Forces from England to Germany during World War II.She is survived by one son, Paul Vachon, and his wife, Arlene, of Turner; two grandsons, Jason Vachon and his wife, Katy, of Albany, N.Y., and Ryan Vachon of Falls Church, Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

HOLYOKE - Robert R. Archambault, 52, died Friday December 31 at the Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke August 23, 1952, the son of the late William and Claire (Morrissette) Archambault. He was a graduate of Holyoke High School, and was a lifelong Holyoke resident. He was previously employed as a driver for The Republican. He is survived by his brother, Dr. William "Tad" Archambault, and one sister, Suzanne C. Archambault, both of Pennsylvania. RUSSELL, EDITH B. - The death of Edith B. Russell, widow of Murray Russell, occurred at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Thursday, December 30, 2004. Mrs. Russell was born in Kingston, Ont., a daughter of the late William and Anna (Crowe) Sales, and had resided the greater part of her life in Saint John. She had been a seamstress with Dalmey's and House of Fashion until her retirement a number of years ago. She had been an avid walker and was a member of Rebekah Lodge. She was pre-deceased by a grandson, Bruce Clark; and two sisters, Willa and Isabel. She is survived by one daughter Elizabeth Clark (Graydon) of Quispamsis; four grandchildren, Deborah Luttrell (Roger), Brenda Ward (Mac), Richard John Clark (Amanda), and Shelley Barrieau (Steve); six great-grandchildren, Katelyn Ward, Noah Ward, Kyle Barrieau, Amanda Clark, Damian Clark, and Evan Luttrell; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
