Lois Pearl Stewart October 01, 1919 - April 14, 2004 With sadness we announce the passing of Lois Stewart on April 14, 2004 at Deer Lodge Centre. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister Helen; brother-in-law Fred Rew; and nephew Larry. Lois is survived by her niece Linda (Don) Wikander, their sons Clint and Doug (Megan), daughter Karyn (James) Hope and their sons Jordan and Zachary; as well as other friends and family. Lois was born on October 1, 1919 to parents Minnie and Serl Stewart in Marchwell, Saskatchewan. She spent her early childhood in Mt. Hope, Washington until the family settled on a farm in Gladstone, Manitoba. As a young woman, she moved to Winnipeg and began her long career with Hudson Bay, first with the Northern Stores, and eventually as one of the early computer programmers. A long-time member of Knox United Church, she was an independent and caring woman with many friends but always with time for family. “Auntie Lois” will be missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow. Gregory Bernard Grant September 14, 1955 - April 13, 2004 GRANT, Gregory Bernard - 48, Halifax, passed away April 13, 2004, at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Mary Belle (MacIssac) Grant, and the late Duncan Grant. He had 27 years service with the Provincial government as a steamfitter for the Department of Transportation and Public Works. Greg was a strong supporter of minor sports in the community, especially hockey (Halifax Hawks), baseball and soccer. His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Paula A. (Berrigan); daughter, Mary; sons, Gregory, Jerrad, Duncan, all at home. He is also survived by his siblings, Carol Kinghorn (Roy), Halifax; Dennis (Barbara) Grant, Sackville; David (Susan) Grant, Colleen Grant, all of Halifax. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Gail Grant. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Atlantic Funeral Home 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. in St. Stephens Roman Catholic Church, corner of Normandy Drive and Robie Street, Father Lloyd O'Neill officiating. Bruce Colin Lyons, C.A. November 10, 1939 - January 19, 2003 Peacefully, at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, Ontario, on Sunday, January 19, 2003, Bruce Lyons, of Campbellville, Ontario, age 63 years. Beloved husband of Marg (nee Emery) Lyons. Loved father of Karen and her husband Ross Hopmans of Waterdown, and Doug and his wife Vanessa of Toronto. Proud grandfather of Jackson Colin Lyons. Dear brother of Sybil and her husband Ron Hicks of Baysville, Ontario, and Bob and his wife Jo of Burlington. LEMIEUX, Rita (nee St-Jean) In Loving Memory of our mother, Rita Lemieux (nee St. Jean) of Hanmer at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 59. Beloved wife of Wilbert Lemieux (predeceased 2001). Loving MOM to Louanne Lafond and Debbie St. Jean, both of Hanmer. Special Mother in law to Gilles St. Jean and Jacques Lafond. Very proud Memere of Melissa, Scott, Matthew and Jeffrey. Predeceased by her parents Rene and Albertine St. Jean and her sister Colette Gauthier. The heart of Rita's life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. Rita was a fixture at her grandchildren's events, and could always be seen at the hockey arenas and baseball fields. Rita was the Chili Maker for the Capreol Army Cadet Corps. She was always there to cheer on her grandchildren and encouraged them in everything they participated in. When not spending time with her grandchildren Rita enjoyed playing bingo. Rita opened her heart and home to 3 special people: Michel Guenette, Roger Gauthier (predeceased) and Kim Boudreau. They were known as her honourary sons. Rita was born in Sudbury in 1944 and married Wilbert in Longlac in 1960. Along with her husband, Wilbert, they owned many service stations throughout the years. Dear daughter in law to Inez Lemieux (Longlac). Dear sister in law of Fred Lemieux (Marie), Dorothy Sullivan, Cecile Gillespie (Boris), Doreen Enberg (Lloyd), Basil (Pam), Gillis (Maxine), Jerry (Linda), Mona Paulini (Nino), Floyd predeceased (Lucille) and Rita McDougall predeceased. Elle laisse son époux Jean-Baptiste Jean d'Opasatika, sept fils: Jean-Guy de Hearst, Luc (Francine) d'Opasatika, André (Joanne Lemieux) de Mattice, Jacques (Monique Tremblay) et Alain (Line) tous de Kapuskasing, Richard (Josée Lacasse) de Hawskbury, Paul de London, huit filles: Diane Frenette (Roland) de Longlac, Rita Beauchamp (Ernest), Rachelle Rodrigue (Michel) de Hearst, Lucille Shannon (Jim Killeen) de Timmins, Claire Thiffeault (Gérald) de Connaught, Lise Jean (Marc Duguay) de Kapuskasing, Doris Isabelle (Rémi), Hélène Jean (Benoit Martel) d'Opasatika, ainsi que 31 petits enfants et 7 arrière petits enfants. La Célébration Eucharistique a eu lieu samedi le 1er mars, 2003 en l'église St Antoine de Padoue, Opasatika avec le père Adrien Noël comme célébrant. L'inhumation a suivit au cimetière d'Opasatika. Mrs. Jean was born in Hearst on Jan. 23, 1932. She worked as a housewife. She was a lifelong resident of the area and enjoyed playing bingo, cards and loved animals. Mrs. Jean was predeceased by her parents, brother Roland Thibeault, daughter Nicole Savard, son-in-law Roger Savard and grandson Michel Jean. Edward "Smitty" Albert Smith December 11, 1917 - May 12, 2004 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Edward Smith on Monday, May 10, 2004 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. He passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside. Ed was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Theofile Smith; brothers Rueben and Erwin; brothers-in-law Lloyd Easler and Al Holsted, and sister-in-law Betty Smith. Ed will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Pearl; son Ernest “Jack” of Morinville, Alberta; daughters Faith (Don) Putasnick and Donna (Bryan) Orobko; sister Anne Easler of Vancouver, B.C. and sister-in-law Mae Holsted of Barhead, Alberta; as well as his 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ed was born and raised in Redcliff, Alberta where he began working in the Dominion Glass Factory. He met and married Pearl and they moved to Vancouver where he worked in the ship yards. In 1943, he and his family moved to Winnipeg to work at the then Winnipeg Electric as a streetcar driver. Over the next 36 years he drove all types of transit vehicles and worked his way up to a supervisor with Winnipeg Transit, the position he retired from in 1979. In his free time he enjoyed working as a back yard mechanic, bowling, golfing, and playing cribbage. He also enjoyed watching his favourite teams the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Blue Jays on T.V. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Maples Personal Care Home, where he was a resident for 11 months and the emergency staff and 5th floor U2 staff and doctors at the Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care of our loved one. As requested, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 14, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Walter Lisinski February 03, 1925 - November 24, 2003 Lisinski, Walter With all our love, we bid farewell to our father, grandpa, friend, and especially husband and soulmate to Kathleen (Pat Fleming) for 51 years. His angel took his hand and led him home to his Lord at the age of 78. He passed away at home with his wife and family at his side on November 24, 2003. Walter will be fondly remembered by his children Michael, Karen (Chris Smith), Peter (Myrna McKenzie), Paul, John (Karen Wright), Thomas, Connie (R.J. Monica "Maggie" Margaret Fyk (née Bambrick) It is with great regret that the family of Monica Margaret (Maggie) Fyk (nee Bambrick) announce the loss of the matriarch of our family on April 1, 2003, in her 94th year, surrounded by her family. Her loving husband Harry predeceased Monica in 1993. Loving mother of Laura-Grace Nunn of Hamilton and James (Jimmy) Foley. Dearly loved grandmother of Diana-Lynn Contesti of Hamilton and Edward Nunn of Brantford. Nanny will be greatly missed by her loving great- grandchildren, Greg Contesti, Kelly Ann Penfold (Nunn) and her husband Jim, and Ryan Nunn, all of Hamilton. Maggie and Harry both took great pride in Michael Gallant, whom they raised as their own for a number of years. Monica was the last of 15 children in her family and is also survived by countless nieces and nephews. Monica took special pride in all of her family and was always there when needed. She did this without being asked, she was just there. Maggie, as she was known to many friends over the years, always had a generous hand to lend to those in need, and often did without herself to do so. Her humour brought much laughter and joy to those around her and her strength was a lesson to everyone who knew her. A private family service has taken place with interment alongside Harry. Harold Lloyd Nicholson April 06, 1922 - August 04, 2002 Peacefully, passed away in his sleep on August 4, 2002 in his 81st year. Dear husband of Shirley for 50 years. Loving father of Holly (Robert), Warren (Monica), Mark (Jennifer) and Heather (David). Papa will be sadly missed by 10 grandchildren. Harold was a veteran of WWII. Gracia Dupont August 22, 2002 Nous regrettons de vous annoncer le décès de Gracia Dupont jeudi le 22 août, 2002 au Extendicare Nursing Home, Kapuskasing à l'âge de 87 ans. Elle est prédécédé par son époux le Dr. Maurice Dupont, ainsi que cinq frères et deux soeurs. Gracia Dupont laisse deux fils: Marc Dupont époux de Lise de Kapuskasing, Louis Dupont de Kapuskasing, trois filles: Denise Dupont d'Ottawa, Madeleine Charbonneau épouse de Michel de Gatineau, Suzanne Dupont épouse de Denis Lauzier de Timmins, ainsi que onze petits enfants et un arrièrre petit enfant. La Célébration Eucharistique a eu lieu lundi le 26 août, 2002 en l'église Immaculée Conception, Kapuskasing avec le père Gilles Gosselin comme célébrant. L'incinération a eu lieu au Crématorium Hillcrest, Matheson. Les dons à la Fondation des Maladies du Coeur ou l'Association de l'Arthrite seraient grandement appréciés.

Gerald Andrew Nadeau September 21, 2002 Gerald Andrew Nadeau passed away tragically on September 21, 2002. Loving father of Kara, Anika and Sasha, husband of Dr. Michèle Brûlé, son-in-law of Noella Brûlé all of Sudbury. Beloved son of Mrs. Jean Nadeau of Kapuskasing and the late Richard Nadeau, sibling of Christine Fortin (Christian) of North Bay, Theresa Tobolka (Stefan) of Inglewood, Justice David Nadeau (Kelly) of Cochrane, Marie Léonard (Yves) of Timmins and Dr. John Nadeau (Suzanne) of Barrie. Brother-in-law of Hélène Besner (Neil) of Hamilton and Gilles Brûlé (Carmela) of Montreal. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 12 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick`s Church with Father Roger Pronovost officiating. Interment to follow at the Kapuskasing cemetery. Donald J. Vennard Peacefully at the St. Claude Hospital on Monday July 29, 2002, Mr. Donald J. Vennard of Treherne, Manitoba passed away at the age of 80 years. He leaves to mourn his passing one sister Elsie (Len) Wilke of Regina, 2 sisters-in-law Beatrice Henry of Treherne and Irna Moore of Brandon, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Grace (nee Abbott), 2 brothers; Norman and Ray, and by one nephew Alex Vennard. At Donald's request, cremation has taken place. Grandmother of April Hurst of NOTL, John Quail and Ann O'Neil, both of Scotland; great-grandmother of John O'Neil, Kathleen O'Neil, Frances O'Neil and Brendan Quail. Sister of Peggy Barrie and Sadie Linning, both of Scotland. Also survived by her niece Lori Damico, her husband Ralph and daughter Emma, her nephew John Campbell and his wife Linda, and niece Marie Marrs and her husband Rick. Predeceased by her brother John Campbell, and her two sisters Mary Arbuckle and Lizzie Fitzpatrick. Annie was a long time member of the St. Catharines Scottish Club. Mrs. Cosgrove is at the PATRICK J.
