Peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, at the Kingston General Hospital, on Tuesday August 27, 2002. Roy, beloved husband for 42 years of Shirley (Cosgrove). Loving father of: Michael (Viviane) of Belleville, Barbara (Gerry) Dressler of Hartington and Julie (Ivan) Marshall of Kingston. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Christa, Cameron, Aaron and Curtis. Dear brother of Bruce (Iona) Meehan of Hagersville, and predeceased by his four sisters; Leta, Mary, Edna and Jean. Dear mother of Bill Deschamps of Midland, Fred and Charlene Deschamps of Midland and the late Jerry Deschamps. Dear mother-in-law of Therese Deschamps-Schell. Loving grandmother of Sherri, Shawn, Tanya, Jennifer, Patricia, Ashleigh, Freddie, Joey and the late Laurie, Casey and Corey. Great grandmother of Brook, Jacob, Tavis, Brittany, Courtney, Brandie-Leigh and Abbie. Predeceased by her sister Doreen Dankiu and her brother Bill Miller. Rested at the Nicholls Funeral Home, 330 Midland Avenue on Friday, December 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and December 28 from 10-12 noon. Lyle Bertram Hoskin April 08, 1923 - October 04, 2002 After defying all odds in his fight against Prostate Cancer since 1997, he passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his home, on Friday October 4, 2002, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Betty, and dear father of Brenda Hoskin of Copetown, Barbara Nowacki (Mike) of Copetown, Bruce (Karen) of Nepean, and Joanne Dyment (David) of Dundas. Loving grandfather of Nicholas, Loren, Courtney, Kate, Jordan, Amanda, Kendra, Alexandra and Samantha and sadly missed by his brother Clare and sisters Wilma McCullough of Peterborough, Lillian McIntosh (Graydon) of Cobourg and Marion Fahner (Don) of London. Predeceased by his sister Ruby Macklin. Lyle will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered. Lyle was a Special Ed teacher and Principal with the Hamilton board of education for over 30 years, Past President of the Retired Teachers of Ontario, 32nd degree Mason and Past Master of Acacia Lodge and a member of the Hamilton Probus Club. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon and evening from 1-3 and 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Francesco Bozzo July 26, 1918 - October 07, 2002 Surrounded by his loving family, Francesco passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2002 in his 84th year. Recently predeceased by his caring wife Allegrina Bozzo after 50 years of marriage. Francesco was a devoted father and will be deeply missed by his loving daughters Joyce and Jean and sons-in-law Ugo Filice and Carlo DeLuca. A wonderful Nonno, Francesco had a great love and respect for “little people”, especially his grandchildren Daniel, Deanna, David, Andrea and Nicholas. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Paolo and Anna Bozzo of Hamilton, Marietta Bozzo, Gina and Antonio Parise, Anina and Eugenlo Parise and Eda Spadafora of Italy. Brother-in-law of Emilio and Enrico DeCarolis of Simcoe. Predeceased by his brother Eugenio Bozzo and sister-in-law Anina Bozzo and brother-in-law Emilio Spadefora and Francesco Bozzo. He will be remembered by several nieces, nephews and cousins from Canada, Italy and the U.S.A. Francesco (known as Cicillo di Santo Paolo) was the first of several family members to immigrate to Canada from Donnici, Italy in 1948 to start a new life. He helped many relatives who followed him to settle in a new land. Francesco has a passion for nature and proudly grew a beautiful vegetable garden every year. He will forever be fondly remembered for his wit and sense of humour. An honest man who believed in the simple life and wanted nothing more than to work hard to provide for his family. Albert Edward George Cooke April 24, 1911 - December 13, 2002 Of Hamilton, formerly of Dundas, passed away peacefully at the McMaster University Medical Centre, on Friday, December 13, 2002, in his 92nd. Predeceased by his loving wife Mary Muldoon and his faithful companion Jake. Treasured father of Barbara Laforet and her husband Phil of Windsor, Rita Laforet and her husband Richard of Windsor and Mary Jane Aglor and her husband Steve of Dundas. Cherished grandpa of Casey, Amy and Christopher Laforet; Jennifer, Allison and Emily Laforet and Mike and Jeff Aglor. Dear brother of Dora Hoyle (late Bill) and Frank Cooke (late Dorothy) of Hamilton and the late Harry Cooke. Dear brother-in-law of Josephine O'Connor (late Terry) of Dundas and Murray and Barb Muldoon of Southampton. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Albert was retired from American Can Company and as a volunteer from the Dundas Fire Department. He was a founding member of the Box 43 Association, an auxiliary of the Hamilton Fire Department and a long time member of Leander Boat Club and the Hamilton YMCA. Florence "Florey" Degryse (née Nuytten) - Peacefully, on Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Deer Lodge Centre, with her family by her side, Florence passed away at the age of 94 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Agnes Baert; and numerous nephews and nieces. Florey was predeceased by her loving husband Cyril; parents, Adele and Harry Nuytten; two brothers, Adelard and Albert Nuytten; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Elsie Nuytten; and brother-in-law, Ramy Baert. Florey was a passionate Bingo player, a member of the Belgium Club and a member of the St. Francis Catholic Women’s League. She was one great, loving and caring person who will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered in our hearts and thoughts forever. Harvey Leroy Browatzke - September 08, 1923 - June 24, 2004 - HARVEY passed away Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Harvey was born to Laura and Gustave Browatzke on September 8, 1913, one of a family of fourteen children – eight boys and six girls in the Warmley District. He worked on farms all around Kisbey and area. He married Hazel Hunter in November 1935. They raised four children. They lived and worked at farming a great part of his life. His love was working and breaking horses and he had a lot of interesting stories to tell about breaking wild ones. They moved to Regina in 1956 where he worked at Husky Service Station, General Equipment, a feedlot where he took care of 600 head of cattle; earned his Boiler Engineering papers at Braemer Apt; then to City Hall to finish his career. He retired in 1978. He later joined the Legion of Frontiersmen. On August 30, 1994 his wife Hazel passed away. That same day he went through bypass surgery. It took him a number of years to get back on his feet. In October 1997, he married Irene Bolen and had a number of fairly good years health wise. They did some traveling to and from Prince Albert, Swift Current, Edmonton, etc. We celebrated his 90th birthday in July 2003. Over 100 family and friends were in attendance. In this last year, his health began to fail but he was determined to stay in his home which he did right up to the end with Irene caring for him. We would like to thank Kelly, Irene’s granddaughter for being there with Irene, helping her in Dad’s final hours. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel; his daughter, Helen; granddaughters, Kathy and Debra; great-grandsons, Micheal and Dominic; and great, great-grandson Brendan; his parents, Laura and Gustove Browatzke; five brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene; daughter, Joyce (John) Zanger; son-in-law, Abrom Friesen; daughter, Doreen Pickering; son, Jim; foster-son, Ross Dahl; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; eighteen great, great-grandchildren; Irene’s children, Dave, Darlene (Ken), Joanne, Jan (Rob), Dale and Bonnie; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers, Art (Margaret) and Merill (Freda); sisters, Margaret and Gladys (Ben); brother-in-law, David; and sister-in-law, Elsie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting on Thursday and Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Janisse Bros - Marcotte Funeral Home, 1139 Ouellette Avenue (253-5225). Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In kindness, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Lloyd Douglas Elders - May 30, 1925 - May 22, 2004 - Peacefully, with his family by his side, Lloyd Elders died, aged 78, at the Riverview Health Centre. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Bert and Margaret Elders and his brothers Jim and Bob. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Reita, his five children: Harold (Sandy), Ruth Nicholson (Terry Christian), Doug, Jim, and Debora (Scott Medhurst). He was loved and cherished by his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren: Lloyd, Jason, Robert, Lana, Brooks, Christina, Ryan, Stephanie, Jessie, Matthew, Dex, Ash, Emma and Rita-Ann. His only sister, the family’s beloved Millie, and many nieces and nephews are also left to mourn. Lloyd served proudly with the Canadian Armed Forces, a veteran with overseas combat duty in World War II. As a young man, Lloyd was an avid sportsman becoming an accomplished curler, skipping his Air Canada team for many years, as well as enjoying golf and coaching community hockey teams. Immensely passionate and devoted to his children, he supported many of their interests personally and professionally. A lifelong fan of horseracing; later in life, Lloyd enjoyed meeting his friends at the McPhillips Street Casino. Lloyd’s family is extremely grateful for the wonderful care provided by the many health caregivers who helped him through difficult times, including Veteran’s Affairs Canada, Manitoba Home Care, and Riverview Health Centre. In particular, we recognize Marnie Switzer of Manitoba Home Care who treated Lloyd and the family with great dignity and love, bringing comfort to the last months and years. Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2004. If friends so desire, donations may be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Manitoba Lung Association.
