Desiree "Hayley" Nichole Belton On the 27th of March, at the age of 14, our Princess Hayley was granted her wings after a short, courageous battle with Cancer. She has joined her Grandma Margaret Belton (2002). Along with her mother Joy and father Mike, she is survived by her stepmother Ethel, brothers Colin and Aidan, and stepbrothers Matt, Chris, and Luke. PARISOTTO, Luciana "Lucy" (nee Daru) In loving memory of Luciana Parisotto, 65 years of Azilda, who passed away Monday morning, May 3, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital-Laurentian Site. She was born in Rivis, Udine, Italy and married Pasquale Parisotto in 1958 in Sudbury. Lucy came to Canada in 1949 settling in the Sudbury area in 1951. She was a devout Roman Catholic who attended St. Alexander's Church (Azilda) and she belonged to the parish CWL. She had been an account executive at Foot and Goring and then Martin's Insurance having 40 years in the Insurance industry. Lucy was well respected and liked by her colleagues and clients always giving 100%. She often mentored others in the workplace. She had a wonderful gift of music she shared as a member of the Caruso Club Choir. Lucy was an avid gardener whose efforts produced beautiful flowers; she was an accomplished seamstress, and she enjoyed paper tole, the outdoors and golfing. An excellent cook she was happiest hosting family dinners. Her home was the center of the family where everyone gathered to enjoy good food, fun, and fellowship. Always quick to help others she will be remembered as a dynamic woman who generously shared her light with all she met. The focus of her life was her loving family especially her precious grandchildren whom she took great pride and interest in their activities and accomplishments. Lucy is now a beautiful flower in God's garden. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Beloved wife of Pasquale. Loving mother of Larry (Nicoletta) and Roberto (Patricia). Donna Hrytzak June 26, 1951 - March 23, 2004 HRYTZAK – The death of Donna Mae Hrytzak (Oleksyn) occurred suddenly on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 in Saskatoon. Donna was born in Prince Albert SK on June 26, 1951. She received her elementary and secondary education in Prince Albert and then continued to the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. There she received her Bachelor of Education and a few years later, her Bachelor of Arts and Post Graduate diploma in Education. Donna enjoyed a 32 year career in the Saskatoon Public School System. Her positions were varied – Donna began as a classroom teacher and went on to teaching Ukrainian and then she fulfilled her goals of becoming first a Vice-Principal and then Principal. She was currently Principal at James L. Alexander School. Donna loved teaching and especially the children whose lives she touched. Donna was always totally committed to her school communities. She was most proud to receive the highest respect from the First Nations people during her principalship at Pleasant Hill School. Their presentation of an Eagle Feather for her achievements, leadership, protection and guidance was an honor she greatly cherished. Students and colleagues will remember her sense of humor, infectious laugh and the crowns she liked to wear on Fridays. Along with her busy career, Donna found time to volunteer with many community groups. During her lifetime, she taught Ukrainian School and Sunday School at Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of Holy Trinity; was part of numerous education and STF committees; member and President of Nutana Kiwanis; national member, and provincial chair and President of the Saskatchewan John Howard Society; and member of Saskatoon Symphony Volunteers. Donna married her dear husband Don, in July of 1973. They were blessed with the birth of their first daughter, Dara Lindsay in 1980 and a second daughter Desya Ashley in 1982. Both have grown into beautiful talented women and Donna was so proud of their many accomplishments. Dara is currently completing a Master’s Degree in International Studies and is part of an internship program with the European Union in Brussels, Belgium. Desya is attending the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and is studying Sociology. Both girls carry on Donna’s love of life and her strong work ethic. When Donna was not busy with school or her volunteer activities, she loved spending time at the cabin at Anglin Lake. Family and friends were always welcome. We remember the good times and good food that Donna provided. Donna is survived by her loving family; husband Don, daughters Dara and Desya, cherished dog, Wally, sister Lyvia (David) Buck, nieces Erin and Kathleen, sister Roxanne (Phil) Bell, sister-in-law Grace Morgan, nephews Brian, Michael and Gerry, niece Kim and their families, and her mother-in-law, Kathleen Hrytzak. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Sylvia Oleksyn. A Prayer Service for Donna will be held on Friday, March 26, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Taras Makowski officiating. Sonya, Evelyn Caletti - 05/07/2004 We are sad to inform you that after a six year courageous battle with ovarian cancer our Sonya, peacefully in bed at our Bermuda home, which we lovingly built over the last sixteen years, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2004. Stanley John Beardy On Monday October 20, 2003 at the age of 43 years, Stanley John Beardy passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Stanley was formerly of Lake St. Martin First Nation. At a young age Stanley along with his family moved to reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba and has resided in Winnipeg until his demise. He leaves to mourn his passing his aunt; Elizabeth Bruce, who raised him since infancy, his cousins whom he considered as brothers and sisters; Shirley Rintoul of Toronto Ontario, Sarah (John) Donovan, Myrtle (Sonny) Sanderson, Pearl (Chester) Berens, Lucy, Libby (Van) Chien, Percy & Wallace, Langford (Sandra) Bruce, Fred (Kelly) Beardy, Lawrence (Jo-Ann), Robin, Lambert Beardy, Nora, Valerie, Sandra, Dorothy Beardy, Christine, Alex, Norman Omero, George & Lydia Beardy, Victor Beardy of Lake St. Martin First Nation, Manitoba, also their families. His surviving aunt’s MaryAnn Beardy, Rose, Violet, Omero, Shirley Shorting, Beatrice Pruden, and a special person to Stanley was John Omero. Also many other cousins, relatives and friends. Stanley was predeceased by his mother: Clara Bruce on October 9, 1998, his uncle Stanley Cameron October 1990, who raised him, brothers: Lawrence Beardy, December 1977, Rupert Beardy, July 1994, cousins: Doreen Bruce, October 1987, Linda Raven, Uncles Wilfred Beardy, October 1997, John and Harriet Beardy of Lake St. Martin. His friendship with Pastor Darnell Plett & wife Emily, Kent and Sandy Dueck, sister Bernadette were dear to his heart. Stanley loved sports, bingo, his family, traveling across Canada and visiting with relatives. Stan was a very caring person and always has a smile on his face. He loved to tease and tell jokes with his friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and could be counted on for any kind of assistance. At the time of his passing Stanley was employed at Pa Dor Lumber in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Stanley was involved with the inner city Youth Alive for a few years and left an impact at Ross Brook House where he volunteered his time. Everyone who knew Stanley is to consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Many thanks to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre S.I.C.U. Dean R.N. B.N., Dr. Kowalski for their understanding. James Ralph Ridge June 12, 1933 - December 13, 2003 Peacefully at the Henderson Hospital on Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the age of 70. Jim Ridge, beloved husband of Ishbel; dear father of Heather Ridge & partner Gary Bateman; Jim Ridge & spouse Barbara Wilk-Ridge; Brent Ridge; and loving grandfather of Ryan Ghaili & Brandon Ghaili. Jim worked as a real estate broker for 35 years and was currently with Royal LePage State Realty. He was a former Trustee and Chairman of the Wentworth Board of Education and a former Councillor for the Township of Binbrook. Cremation has taken place. Roy McPherson August 14, 1918 - March 13, 2004 McPHERSON, Roy - 85, Halifax, formerly of Cape Breton, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 13, 2004, surrounded by his loving family in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born August 14, 1918, in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Dan and Isobel (Anderson) McPherson. Roy served his country overseas during the Second World War with the Signal Corps. He was chief engineer of CJCB-TV in Sydney and was an employee with them for 25 years. Dad was a long-time Amateur Radio Operator (VEIPS), having talked to friends all over the world through HAM radio and was an active member of the Sydney Amateur Radio Club for many years. He was a gadget man who spent hours building and tinkering with his radio gear. He loved going to a good HAM radio flea market. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Sydney. He was a devoted husband, and a devoted father and grandfather, and friend to Lorraine (Dr. Arthur MacLean), Beryl, all of New Glasgow; Beverley (Mrs. Gordon Laurence), Margaree Harbour; Dr. Troye McPherson (Mrs. Patrick Kyte), Dartmouth; Cindy, Antigonish; grandchildren, Holly (Mrs. David Sommerfreund), Christopher (Jen), all of Australia; James Roy, Korea; Emily, New Glasgow; Nathan, Yellowknife, N.W.T.; Andrew and Courtney, Margaree Harbour; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Rachel McPherson; brothers, James Allistair. Dad was a kind, compassionate, giving person. He is loved and adored by his family and is deeply, deeply missed. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Interment will be held at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Corinne will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 27 years, Walter; her daughters, Cynthia (Frank) and Tamara; her sons, Thomas (Dianne), Christopher, Clarence and Adrian; her recent foster children, Sabrina, Tad and Shaun Cook, as well as many other foster children; her two special precious grand babies, Frankie and Evan; her mother Alma Asham-Hart; her sisters, Sharon (Steve) McKay, Peggy (Larry) McPherson, Geraldine (Bill) Parenteau and Donna (Joe) Clarke; her brother Gerald Hart; her mother-in-law Libby Murdock; her brothers-in-law, Harvey (Arlene), Vernon (Mary), Robert (Shelly), Neil, Dennis, Lawrence (Wilma) and Sam (Lisa); her sisters-in-law, Vina (Kenny), Sandra and Sharon; her special pig players (aunts), Hilda McKay and Janet (Albert) Thompson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Corinne attended school in Brandon, she along with her brother and sisters were taken in by foster parents, Mary and Leonard Ranch. She moved to Winnipeg and then moved to Riverton, where she along with her two little ones, met her husband. Then they moved home to Fisher River. Corinne raised so many foster children, who she took as her own. She always wanted a big happy family with laughter and love. Her biggest gift was watching her two grandchildren being born, with so much love in her eyes we knew she would be the best grandmother there was. Mom was always caring and loving, along with her sense of humour in which she made us laugh through good and bad, even on her last days. We all miss you so much Mom, you raised us good, love from all of us. A wake service will be held on Friday, November 28th, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 29th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Steven’s Memorial United Church, Fisher River, Manitoba, with Rev. Ashley Erin Settee June 03, 1981 - December 27, 2003 Tragically on December 27, 2003 Ashley Erin Settee passed on to the Spirit World at the Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, Manitoba as the result of a car accident. She was 22 years old. Left to cherish Ashley's beautiful memory is her precious son, Jayden Blaze Copenace, her loving mother and brothers, Leona Settee and Scott and Lee Anderson, beloved grandparents, Lawrence and Dorothy Settee, aunts, Jeanette (Allen) Archie and Cathy Johnstone, uncles, Jim (Darlene), Charley and Dan Settee, cousins, Michael, Krystle, Suzie, Craig, Daniel, Melanie, Ambrose, Adam, Kevin and Natasha, Jayden's other kookum, Aunt Dorothy Crate, a large extended family and many friends. Also, Jayden's father, Jackson Copenace and Ashley's stepfather Myles Anderson. She was predeceased by her uncle Grenville in May of 2003. Ashley was close to all her cousins and had many friends. She was however, especially close to Amy, Suzie, Amanda, Michelle, Shaneen, Irene and Allison. Everyone will miss her terribly. Ashley was born in Winnipeg at the St. Boniface Hospital on June 3, 1981 at 3 :19 p.m. She grew up in Elmwood and East Kildonan, attending River Elm, George V, Salisbury Morse Place, John Henderson and Kildonan East schools. She was currently attending the Adult Education Center to obtain her grade 12 with plans of attending university. Ashley loved life! She was so excited and happy about many things. She loved her son Jayden with all her heart and was a wonderful mother to him, including him in all her plans, taking him places and teaching him about life. We will keep her memory alive for him. Ashley had many gifts and talents. She played piano, sang country songs and was learning to play the guitar. On Christmas day she learned the chords for "Midnight Special" from her grandfather and then sang and played it for all of us. She had a special gift for bringing people together and often had friends and family over or took Jayden and went to visit. She kept in touch with her old friends while making new ones. She was a bright, shining star. Ashley had her hard times too and was figuring out her life but she never let things get her down for long. She relied on her family and friends for support. Ashley was very close to her mother and brothers, living in the same apartment building, just one floor down. She and Jayden often came up to visit and have meals or had her family down for her lovely chicken or hamburger soup she had recently learned to make. We miss her so much already but are grateful for the many wonderful memories of our beautiful daughter and sister. She will always be loved and remembered. Thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Percy E. Moore Hospital for their efforts to revive her and those who assisted at the scene. Many thanks to all our relatives and friends for their love and support at this very difficult time. Pallbearers will be her cousins : Michael, Craig, Daniel, Ambrose, Adam and Shelby. Honorary pallbearers will be Amy, Suzie, Amanda, Michelle, Shaneen, Allison, Krystle, Melanie and Kevin. A memorial service will be held at 7 :00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30 at the St. Matthews Maryland Church at the corner of Maryland and St. Matthews in Winnipeg. Ashley’s funeral service will be held at 1 :00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31 at Stevens Memorial United Church in Fisher River, Manitoba. She married Leslie Gittens Barton on June 16, 1956, in Trenton, Ont., and became a Canadian citizen April 18, 1958. She was employed in various occupations, most predominately an employee of various banking institutions and the federal government. She was very active in the community, from Girl Guide Leader, Business and Professional Women, IWK Auxiliary, and the United Ostomy Association of Canada, Metro Halifax Chapter. Within these organizations she held many positions. She was a devote Catholic and belonged to the Children of Mary. Although Eileen immigrated to Canada, she frequently traveled back to England as well as Hawaii, Los Angeles, Bahamas, Florida and Spain. She is survived by her children, Leslie John Garrett Barton, Calgary; Patricia Helen Barton, North Vancouver; Doreen Theresa Barton, Halifax; grandmother to Dominic Michael Patrick Barton, Halifax; sisters, Maureen Thompson, Patricia Turner and Michael Hayes; numerous nieces and nephews of the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. She was predeceased by her sister, Peggy Moloney. Tricia and Doreen would like to extend their sincere gratitude to their mother's friends and support network throughout the years: doctors Mishra Sr. and Jr., Dr. Stone, Dr. Greenlaw, Dr. Chandler, Edie Taylor and family, Plessa Condy and family, Patsy Pelrine and family, the Brinton family, Evelyn and John March, Pauline Sturmy, Maxine Mitchell and family, the Howie family, the Sleigh family, and a special thank-you to Mary Michalik. Kathleen May Jardine ( Sneesby) September 03, 1919 - April 06, 2004 With profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly loved mother. Predeceased by her husband Jack, she leaves to mourn her loss, son David and his wife Joyce, grandsons Wesely and fiancé Andrea, Bradley and partner Kathy; daughter Cheryl and her husband James; son Jim, his wife Jennifer and their boys, Fletcher, Emerson and Rafferty; son David, Jenn; and daughter Finn. She is also survived by her dear sister Thelma and husband Roy Fraser; brother Cecil; sister-in-law Joan; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and helpmate Yvonne. Kay was born in Winnipeg, one of seven children, to May and Joseph Sneesby. As a young woman, she owned a small beauty salon on Main Street. She spent many happy hours at the camp at Ingolf where she met Jack. She took up her second career as wife, mother and homemaker. They lived in several provinces across Canada and finally settled in Woodhaven. Jack and Kay travelled extensively to Europe and down south in later years. She was always full of fun and humour, and her grandchildren loved her. In her later years, her memory loss became such a challenge, but humour sustained her right to the end. She made many friends at Golden West Lodge and the Metro Kiwanis, where she was the life of every party. Special thanks to the nurses at the Grace Hospital for their dedicated care of Mother in the last eight weeks, and the loving support of friends and family at this sad time. A memorial service in honor of Mother’s life will be held on Monday, April 26, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception to follow. Catherine Campbell April 23, 1906 - October 11, 2003 Campbell, Catherine (nee McNeil) 97 years, died October 11, 2003 in Windsor. Beloved wife of the late William. Loving mother of Anna Cox and the late John, Yvonne Reed and husband Allan, and William. She is predeceased by her sisters Sarah Gillis, Marguerite Hall, Mary Boyne, and her brothers Roary McNeil and William McNeil. She will be sadly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Campbell was retired from Henry Ford Hospital after 25 years of service. Maria Pasquala Mazzuocco Her gentle spirit left us on December 12, 2002 at the age of 74. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Paul Mazzuocco and was a dedicated loving mother to Maina (Les) Biggar, Gino (Maria) Mazzuocco and Leno (Jeannie) Mazzuocco. Caring sister-in-law to Joseph and Angelina Mazzuocco, Tony and Lucia Mazzuocco (Italy). Lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews in Canada, USA, and Italy. Maria was predeceased by her daughter Tina in May of this year. Maria will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends. Her faith in God sustained her, she accepted her trials with strength, courage, grace and dignity. She truly was an inspirational person to us all. We are comforted in knowing that she has been reunited with Tina and they are both in the arms of God. It is with great sadness that we bid her farewell. Hugh Jeffery Gray Allan May 14, 1917 - May 30, 2004 Our family is deeply saddened with the passing of our loving husband, father & grandfather, Hugh, on May 30/04. Hugh had just celebrated his 87th birthday. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nora (Guile), son Garry (Sally), daughter Janice McQuarrie (Bob), & his five grandchildren; Allyson, Rhea, Mark, Jeff, & Garth; brother Clyde & sisters Jean Styan, Eleanor McRae, & many, many friends. Special thanks to Floyd & Kae Lovelace & Eric Guile. Hughie was a well-respected photographer with the Wpg. Tribune for 25 years, before starting his own business which he pursued with a passion. Throughout his career, he was an active news & sports photographer, photographing such events as M.G.A. golf tournaments, & M.C.A. bonspiels. He also “covered” the Blue Bombers, the Jets & the Canada/Russia Hockey series. Although modest about his accomplishments & many awards, he was most proud of his inductions into both the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Media Roll of Honour & the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Media Roll of Honour. An avid golfer & curler, Hugh was a man of many talents - artistic, creative and athletic. While a student at Gordon Bell High, he designed the school crest & played goal on the hockey team. At the age 85, he scored a hole-in-one at the Grey Owl Golf Tournament, of which he was a founding member & competitor for 43 years. He had a great sense of humour & loved dancing, gardening & nature. He & his beloved “Molly” enjoyed many wonderful trips and latterly, their home & many friends in Arizona. His grandchildren were the light of his life & many of his talents live on throughthem. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Susan Hauch & the staff of St. Boniface Hospital, Wards 6AS & 4E.
