Jack Anthon Folmes - October 26, 1920 - May 24, 2004 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Anthon Folmes at Deer Lodge Hospital peacefully in his sleep on May 24, 2004. Leaving to mourn his passing are his wife Jennie of 58 years; his children, Linda and Larry (Cathy); his grandchildren Clifford, Ryan and Crystal; his two sisters Sophie Orzech, Bernice (Pete) Abuda; and his brother John (Zenith). He was predeceased by his parents, Tony and Stella Folmes. Jack was born in Arnes, MB on October 26, 1920. During the Second World War, he served in the army and was stationed overseas for four years. He then worked for Canadian Sportswear as a garment designer for 38 years until his retirement. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ryan Folmes, John Kosowski, Ed Kosowski, Paul Stimpson, Jeff Warren and Regis LaBossiere. Molly Durnford Fiander(née Cox) - August 18, 1927 - May 02, 2004 - 76, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2004, in Dartmouth General Hospital, with her loving family at her side. Born August 18, 1927, in Rencontre West, NL, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Amelia "Susie" (Durnford) Cox. Molly loved to garden, cook and bake for her family and also enjoyed a good game of bingo. Molly is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robie Lynton; children, Leonard (Pam), Porters Lake; Susan (Gary) Hunt, Robert (Paula), Sharon (Billy) LeClair, all of Dartmouth; Arthur (Bev), Truro; Roberta Heaslip, Dartmouth; sister, Ada Parsons, St. John's, NL; brother, Reg (Myrtle) Cox, Hermitage, NL; grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, Brian, Jeff, Jamie, Greg, Kim, Erin, Niki, Brad and Erika; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Maxwell Cox. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and funeral service 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Elizabeth "Elane" Jane Faught (née Stafford) May 06, 1947 - May 01, 2004 - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of beloved wife and mother Elane, on Saturday, May 1st. She leaves to cherish her memory-husband, Ray, daughters, Emily and Megan, parents, Ernie and Betty Stafford, brothers and sisters, Colin (Judy) Stafford, Ellenor (Phil) Morris, Richard (Krista) Stafford, Barbara Stafford and their families. Darrell Farquharson - beloved husband of Jackie, passed away on May 19, 2004 at the age of 41. Besides his wife Jackie, he is survived by his brother Chris, his wife Peggy and their children Christie and Carla; father-in-law Joe Botchar; brother-in-law Dave Botchar and partner Teresa. Darrell was predeceased by his father James in 2003; his mother, Mary in 2001; as well as his mother-in-law and sister-in-law Joanne. Darrell had a passion for computers, watching the Vancouver Canucks, and his favourite Nascar driver, Mark Martin. Darrell was greatly looking forward to his second race season as a Formula-Vee driver. Darrell derived a lot of pleasure from racing and the camaraderie of the Winnipeg Sports Car Club. Thanks to Dr. Warrian and the SICU staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Terry Chlysta for his years of excellent care. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Viewing will be held one half-hour prior to the service. Theresa Marie, Margaret Ellis (née Saulnier) March 31, 1931 - April 17, 2004 ELLIS, Theresa Marie Margaret - 73, Hammonds Plains, formerly of Sackville, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Salmon River, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Denis and Laura (Martin) Saulnier. Theresa loved children, crocheting, knitting, cooking and working in the flower garden. She greatly enjoyed decorating for Christmas and loved the coloured lights. If there was a perfect wife and mother, she was it. Surviving are her husband, William "Bill"; daughter, Anne Marie (Robert) Craig, Meaford, Ont.; son, Sean (Tanya), Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Jamie and Nicole; sisters, Angela (Gordon) Boudreau, Lake Doucette; Cerita (Ernest) Saulnier, Salmon River, Digby Co.; brothers, Leo Saulnier, Halifax; Gerald (Annie) Saulnier, Beaver River; Norman (Suzanne) Saulnier, Salmon River, Digby Co.; sister-in-law, Judy Saulnier, Dartmouth. Theresa was predeceased by brother, Roland. At Theresa's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Grace Levins On April 17, 2004 at Oakview Nursing Home, Miss Grace Ellen Levins of Winnipeg passed away. Grace was predeceased by her father in 1981 and her mother in 1986. She is survived by numerous cousins across Canada. Born in Lenore, Manitoba on June 21, 1925, the daughter of Thomas and Annie (Frame) Levins. She moved with her parents to Hamiota where she took all her schooling (grades 1-12). In 1943 she came to Winnipeg where she attended The Angus School of Commerce and worked at National Trust. Later she took a course to become an EEG technician at the Winnipeg General Hospital where she worked for many years. Grace was interested in music all her life. She played violin while at Hamiota and at one time was the youngest student to play in the Manitoba High Schools Symphony Orchestra under Ron Gibson in Winnipeg. When she lived in Winnipeg she took vocal training from J. Roberto Wood and sang in several choirs- Knox United Church Choir, the Philharmonic Choir under the direction of Walter Kaufmann, Young Women’s Music Club under the direction of Berith Berse and Salvation Army Songsters where she often sang solo at Grace Hospital Chapel. Her friends will remember her for her witty, entertaining stories. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 4000 Portage Ave. with Pastor Bruce Logan officiating. Mrs Thelma Marie Eliason (née Doucette) - April 14, 1924 - May 07, 2004 - With great sadness, we the family, announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our loving mom and grandmother (Granny). Predeceased by her husband Edwin Eliason. Survived by her loving son David Eliason; her cherished caring grandchildren Brent (Sheri) Eliason and Cindy Eliason; treasured great grandchildren Keano, Ashley and Tyson. Thelma was born and raised in Big River, Saskatchewan. Thelma and Edwin moved to the Island in 1949 and after spending the first winter here, they were here to stay. She enjoyed helping her husband in building homes. Her passion was taking care of her family. She loved taking the grandkids camping and later in years enjoyed her trips to Reno. Eunice Joan Doyle (née Edkins) - April 28, 1922 - May 25, 2004 - passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2004. Born in London, England on April 28, 1922. Eunice was predeceased by her loving husband Howard in 1985, her oldest brother Edmund (Teddy) in 1998 and her parents Edmond and Rosina. Eunice was an English war bride and with her husband and son came to Canada in 1953 and settled in Shawnigan Lake where she remained all her life. Eunice had one thing that she adhered to all her life, and that was her family; she was unswerving in her love, loyalty and protection of them; her devotion was complete and she will be missed as we try to fill the hole left by her passing. Eunice is survived by her son Alan Edkins (Karen); grandsons Michael and Kevin (Tara); great grandchildren Jacob, Crystal, Kayley, Jackson and Austin; also brother Eric of London, England. Jessie May Devine - It is with great sadness that the family of Jessie May Devine announces her passing at the Grace Hospital Wednesday, May 19, 2004. Jessie was predeceased by her parents John and Martha; sisters Ethel, Elsie, Nora, Grace; brothers John, Thomas and Peter. She is survived by her sisters Alice Snell and Mary Wilson; and lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Jessie was born on February 14, 1907 in Mowbray, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg with her family in 1919. She was a devoted long-time employee of the T. Eaton Co. for 50 years until her retirement. Jessie was a member of the Rebeccah Lodge for many years. A family service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery. Sidney Guy Demond - February 13, 1935 - May 24, 2004 - Peacefully, Sidney Demond passed away at the age of 69 at his home. He was predeceased by his parents Guy and Alice Demond of Upper Cornwall, N.S; two sons, Brian and Philip and two brothers John and William. Sidney will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 46 years Shirley; daughter, Colleen (Bobby) Bremner of Chester, N.S; three sons, Barry of Winnipeg, Todd (Gina) of Vancouver, Shawn (Pat) of Brandon; grandchildren, Sheryl, Ashley, Desiree, Alexis, and Carlos; two brothers, George and Roger of Cornwall, N.S; and one sister Susan of Dartmouth, N.S. Sidney will also be sadly missed by his extended family and many friends. Sidney joined the military in 1952 and served with the R.C.H.A. He served in Cypress, Korea and Germany. Retiring in 1976.Since retirement he worked for Canadian Tire and Powervac for many years. He enjoyed working with his hands and could fix anything. Sidney loved traveling, was very friendly and ready to meet new faces and was always willing to give a helping hand. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception to follow. Florence "Florey" Degryse (née Nuytten) - Peacefully, on Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Deer Lodge Centre, with her family by her side, Florence passed away at the age of 94 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Agnes Baert; and numerous nephews and nieces. Florey was predeceased by her loving husband Cyril; parents, Adele and Harry Nuytten; two brothers, Adelard and Albert Nuytten; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Elsie Nuytten; and brother-in-law, Ramy Baert. Florey was a passionate Bingo player, a member of the Belgium Club and a member of the St. Francis Catholic Women’s League. She was one great, loving and caring person who will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered in our hearts and thoughts forever. In accordance with Florence’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private interment will take place. Ivy Scarr December 08, 1912 - April 18, 2004 After a short illness, Ivy Celia Scarr ( nee Hill), beloved wife of Stanley Scarr, passed away at Oakview Place. Ivy was born in Abergavenny, Wales and emigrated to Canada in 1926 with her parents and siblings. Ivy is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Stan; one son Stanley (Lorraine); three daughters, Bernice Parbery (Gordon), Barbara Picken (Bob), Diane (Becker) Brown (Jack); eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Joan Harris, and three brothers, Derek Hill, Dennis Hill (Alice), and Bernard Hill (Dora). Ivy was predeceased by her father, Rowland Hill (1933); her mother, Celia Hill (1990); two brothers, Alfred and Edward; and two sisters, Grace (Adams) McDowell and Vera Saunders. According to Ivy’s wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations can be made in Ivy’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. Joseph Sherban September 27, 1943 - April 17, 2004 Tragically on April 17, 2004, our beloved Joe was taken from us at 60 years of age. Joe was born in Simcoe, ON and moved to Manitoba in 1980 where he worked for 21 years at Herbsiegwill Dairies in Randolph, Mb before going to work for Invicta Securities where he worked until his death. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Anna (nee Felinski) Sherban, his sister Annie Yurkiw and infant son Andrew Sherban. He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Donna (nee Palmer), two step-sons; Jason (Tammy) McQueen, Steven (Cheryl) McQueen, four step-grandchildren; Shelby, Haley, Aiden, Brody, three nieces and cousin Dianna (George) Lloyd of Simcoe, Ontario. Mrs Margaret (Peggy) Elsie Wright (née Smith) April 08, 1918 - April 17, 2004 WRIGHT- Margaret (Peggy) Elsie, at Oak Bay Lodge on April 17, 2004. Predeceased by her parents Eva and James Smith, her sisters Madeleine Hopkins and Clarissa Wise, and her beloved husband, Stan. Survived by her daughter Dale Miller (Archie) of New Westminster, her grandson Sean Kerr of Vancouver, and friend Bruce Donald of Sidney, B.C. Born in Echo Bay, Ontario in 1918, Peggy married Stan Wright in 1946 and moved to Kenogami, Quebec, where Stan was Mill Accountant for Price Brothers. In 1980, after three years in St. Mary’s Ontario, they moved to Colwood, B.C. After Stan’s death in 1993, Peggy moved to Sidney, B.C. and then to Oak Bay Lodge in 2003. She was widely known for her love of lapidary and fondly known to many as “the tree lady” for the beautiful gem trees she made and taught others to make. Her family is very grateful to Dr. Innes and the staff of Oak Bay Lodge, especially those on 1- Dogwood, for their care and caring, which helped to make Peggy’s last year more comfortable. Her life was also made richer and more enjoyable by her companion, Trish O’Doherty of Cullenswood Companion Care. In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. She will be interred at the Veterans Cemetery “God’s Acre” in Esquimalt beside Stan. If friends so wish, commemorative donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Society or their local Salvation Army Corps.

Grace Cook ( Lounsbury) April 22, 1934 - April 17, 2004 Grace Cook, wife of Basil, of Oulton St. Moncton, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, April 17th , 2004, following a lengthy illness. Born in Sussex, NB, on April 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Myrtle (Brown) Lounsbury. Grace graduated from Teachers College in Fredericton, and taught for many years at the Pleasant Street School in Lewisville. In later years, Grace worked in the family business, Cook’s Building Materials Ltd. Killam Dr., Moncton. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Basil Cook, her daughter Heather Beers (Brian) of Moncton , a son Rick (Chantale) of Moncton, granddaughters Sarah and Katie Beers, sister-in-law, Shirley Cook of Halifax, brother-in-law, Watson of Berry Mills, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Fred Lounsbury. The family will receive visitors at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday April 20th, from 5 - 9 PM. Mrs. Viola Negus ( Jollymore) Viola Jean Negus age 98 of Amherst passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004 at home. Born in Amherst she was a daughter of the late William and Jane (Spellman) Jollymore. Viola worked at Christie Trunk and Baggage and also worked in the woods in her younger years. She raised three families besides her own and was loved by all who knew her. Viola is survived by two daughters Margaret Kasaboski of Renfrew, Ontario and Shirley (Gary) Farrell of Brookdale, two sons Robert and Art both of Amherst, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Horace, daughters Helen Babineau and Audrey Casey, sons Tom, Huddie, Fred and Lawrence in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2004 at 3 p.m. from Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S. Pastor Richard Firth will officiating. Dr. Raymond Crook CROOK, RAYMOND_ It is with great sadness the family of Dr. Raymond Crook announces his passing on April 13, 2004 at the age of 79 years. Dr. Crook is survived by his loving wife, Rachel of nearly 50 years; four children, Yvonne (Orest) Federko, Nigel (Sharon) Crook, Lynn Crook (Neil Devitt), and Sheila (Ken) Burdon; and eight grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsay; Jenna, Elyse; Julia; Michael, Victoria and Andrea. Born in Blackpool, England in 1924 to Leonard and Eleanor Crook, he received his medical training at London University 1943-50. Ray served in the RAF Medical Branch as a Flt. Lieut. and was stationed in Malaysia until August 1952. Upon returning to England to continue his medical training, he met a young nurse Rachel and they were married June 1954. In 1957 they moved to Regina with 2 young children. Ray practiced as an Ear Nose and Throat specialist in Regina from 1957 until retirement in 1990. Ray had a special interest in Scuba diving and attended dive trips and conferences as long as he was able. Ray enjoyed Barbershop singing and was a member of the Regina Chapter for many years. He spent all his summer weekends and vacations with the family at the cottage at Sunset Cove on Last Mountain Lake. He will be sadly missed by his many friends, associates, and family. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Regina Funeral Home Hwy #1 E, Regina, SK, with Reverend. John Haas, officiating. Stanley Glinski March 29, 1917 - March 01, 2002 After a courageous battle with cancer at the Hotel Dieu Hospital on Friday, March 1, 2002. Beloved spouse of Betty Zych, loving father of Tony Zych, Sophia (Mark) Etherington, John Zych (Barb), Joanne (Stu) Wilson. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Wendy, Pam, Cathy, Matt, Amy, Tania, Charlie, Shawn and Jamie; and six great grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Walter (Eleanor) Glinski and his three nephews. Mr. Glinski is at the Patrick J.
