Gertrude May Allan (née Graham), RN - August 16, 1908 - May 19, 2004 - Peacefully at Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg, MB with family at her side. Gertie was predeceased by her husband Leslie Compton Allan in October of 1977 as well as her parents Maude and William Graham. Also by all of her siblings except one sister Pearl (Gordon) Smith of Minnedosa and one sister-in-law Edna (Lloyd) Graham of Holland. Gertie has gone to join her brothers and sisters: Bertha (Albert) Evans, Elsie (James) Donald, Oliver (Gladys), Lloyd, Ivan 'Joe', Ruby (Clifford 'Gil') Gilchrist, Laura (Basil) Pratt, Martin 'Mike', and Emma (Jerry) Mahoney. Gertie was born after Lloyd and Pearl was born after Mike. Gert leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families. Many thanks to all the sincere and wonderful staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for loving and caring for her since June 5,1986, also for the kindness and caring shown to the family members during the very 'trying' last week. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with visitation one half-hour prior to the service. Interment and reception to follow. Alexander "Shriner" Steward George June 21, 1922 - May 19, 2004 GEORGE, Alexander Steward "Shriner" - 81. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Alexander Steward "Shriner" George on May 19, 2004, in Dartmouth General Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was a son of the late Alexander and Freda (Jenkins) George. He was a member of St. Clements Parish, Gaston Road, Dartmouth, until recently when he attended St. Elizabeth Seaton Church, Lower Sackville. He was a long-time active member of Vimy Branch Legion, Cogswell Street, Halifax and was a member of the Vimy Choir. He held various positions in the legion over the years. He was in the Halifax Rifles and a long-time member of the Halifax Rifle Association. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the R.C.N. His passion was the Annual Poppy Campaign and Remembrance Day Service and was on the Visitation Committee for Veterans'. Along with his wartime medals, he was a recipient of the Murmansk Medal. He had worked for C.N.R. and William, Stairs, Son and Morrow as a shipper for over 30 years during his civilian life. He will be sorrowfully missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Edwin) Short-Driscoll, Lower Sackville; sister, Freda (Mickey) St. George, Dartmouth; brother, Edward "Teddy" (Marge), Victoria, B.C.; grandsons, Dennis and Joey Short; great-grandsons, Justin and Riley; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, the former Agnes Shields; sister, Gladys "Neany" Yade; brothers, David and Ernest. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Seaton Roman Catholic Church, Metropolitan Ave., Lower Sackville. Mr. Heinz Gustav Giese February 14, 1921 - May 20, 2004 It is with sadness and joy that the family of Heinz Giese announce his passing. Heinz went to be with Jesus on the morning of May 20, 2004 at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Else; sons Karl (Alma), Bernie (Esther), and Hubert (Julie); daughter, Anne (Andy); grandchildren Tim, Darren (Samantha),Candice, Chris, Michael, Eric, Kristin , Carmen, Evan, Jason (Sam), and Jennifer (Greg). Heinz was predeceased by his daughters Margarete and Susanne, and his only brother Bruno. Dennis "Denny" Petersen July 29, 1930 - May 20, 2004 Peacefully at home on Thursday, May 20, 2004 surrounded by his family Dennis (Denny) Petersen of London at the age of 73 passed away. Denny battled cancer and fought with incredible courage and grace. He retired from Bell Canada in 1987 after 40 years of dedicated service. Dennis was an outstanding athlete all his life and played on two Mann Cup lacrosse teams. Further, he refereed at the national level for 14 years. Denny played hockey for the Peterborough Petes and the London Huff’n’Puffers. He was a consummated golfer and a member of the Ingersoll Golf and Country Club. Beloved husband for 21 years of Linda Petersen (nee Whiteway). Proud father of Bob of Milton and Bradley Douglas and his wife Suzanne of Burlington. Florence Irene Wilson ( nee Keans) July 31, 1928 - May 18, 2004 WILSON, Florence Irene - 75, Dartmouth, passed away May 18, 2004, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John and Rita Keans. She came to work in Halifax in her early years where she met her husband of 50 years, William Wilson, RCN. She later worked for several years for Edward Fine Foods. Florence enjoyed gardening, having lovely rock gardens and climbing roses. As well, she enjoyed cooking, crafts and did beautiful embroidery work. Our mother did volunteer work for the C.A.M.R., working hard for the flowers of hope campaign and annual sales. Her grandchildren were cherished, never running out of hugs or cookies. Her greatest credit was her unwavering devotion to her handicapped son Gary, giving him 48 years of unrelenting love, care and compassion. Our mother will be greatly missed and forever loved. I love you my nanny - Amanda. A special thank you to Steve for all he did for Mom. Osborne A Reggin October 27, 1923 - May 17, 2004 Osborne A. Reggin, beloved husband of Betty H. Reggin passed away peacefully at Nanaimo on Monday afternoon May 17, 2004. Born October 27, 1923 at Calgary, AB. He leaves behind his daughter Christine Ness (Irvin), son Don Reggin (Linda), son Ian Reggin (Jane), daughter Carol Firkus (Darcy). Os is predeceased by his daughter Janice McLeod, on June 29th, 2003. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Os is also survived by his brother Jack. Os contributed greatly to the Calgary construction industry through his company Reggin Industries Ltd. and his participation in many construction industry groups. He was Past President of the Calgary Construction Assoc. and was a Director of Construction Labour Relations of Alberta. Prior to his retirement to BC, Os was an active member of First Baptist Church, Calgary and served on many boards and committees. Upon moving to Nanaimo, BC he and Betty joined the First Baptist Church in Nanaimo of which he served the Lord in various capacities. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at First Baptist Church 1650 Waddington Road, Nanaimo, BC on Sunday May 23rd at 3:30pm. Eva Schmidt (née Wharton) Peacefully on May 19, 2004 at Lions Manor, Eva Schmidt passed away at the age of 84. She is survived by her husband Ron; children Nancy and Tom; daughter-in-law Maureen; grandchildren Rhea, Colin and Phillip; and great-grandchild Ronin. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Doris and her brother John. Eva was a devoted wife and mother, and was very active in Kirkfield Park United Church. She also was active in her community as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Eva was an avid curler and was a former president of the Assiniboine Memorial Ladies Curling Club. John Norman Sutherland November 13, 1916 - May 18, 2004 In his 88th year, on May 18, 2004, passed away in peace surrounded by the family near and by the thoughts of those more distant. Survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Lorraine (Rycroft) and sadly missed by his children, Norman Paul, Donald Ernest (Jackie), Ruth Louise and Barbara Anne (Al). Cherished by grandchildren: Neil Michael, Jay Ryan, Elizabeth Anne and Graham John and warmly remembered by relatives and friends. John was born in Grimsby, Ontario, a UE and was an active member of St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church in Hamilton. For over 50 years, he belonged to the United Association of Steam Fitters, Pipe Fitters and Plumbers (Local #67). He was a veteran of World War II serving in the 47th L.A.A. Battery and a 50 year member of Grimsby Union Lodge No. 7, AF & AM. John was an avid supporter of the City of Hamilton and the Tiger Cats and his absence will be noticed by the season ticket holders at the 50-yard line. Together with his wife, he enjoyed and supported many arts in the city he loved. A toast to a craftsman, a mentor and a true egalitarian! Lorraine Folk FOLK, Lorraine (nee Swystun) – It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine announces her sudden passing on May 17, 2004. Lorraine took great pride in her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and godmother. She had an amazing ability to coordinate her family’s countless activities, guaranteeing that no lesson, practice or game was ever missed. Although she was very modest about her accomplishments, she was a talented artist, seamstress and chef. Predeceased by her parents, Nellie and Peter Swystun, father-in-law John Folk, brothers-in-law, Rick Folk and Blair Mortin, she leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 32 years, Andy; daughter, Candace (Rick) Frasz and grandson, Treyton; son, Trevor (Alexandra Valiquette); daughter, Joette; brother, Brian (Lunette) Swystun; sister, Elaine (Harald) Gohlke; brother Blair (Valerie) Swystun; mother-in-law, Marie Folk; sister-in-law Terri (Rick) Foster; sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Mortin; brother-in-law, Huntz (Brenda Gervais) Folk, and numerous nieces, nephews, and her special friends “The Tea Bags”. Mary Jean Graham (née Dann) October 25, 1921 - May 17, 2004 Mrs. Mary Jean Graham (nee: Dann) passed away on May 17, 2004 in Oshawa Lakeridge Hospital. Born on October 25, 1921 in Fort William, she attended Drew Street School, Fort William Collegiate and Kings Business College. From 1940 to 1943 Mary worked at Can Car and on June 17, 1943 she married William D. Graham. In 1948 they moved to Fort Erie and then to Toronto (Don Mills) in 1961. She was employed for several years as an administrative secretary until her retirement in 1980 and in 1987 she returned to Thunder Bay. Mary was a member of the Knox United Church and was active for several years as a hospital volunteer. She enjoyed camping, boating and playing bridge, although her main interest was her family. Mary will be sadly missed by her son William "Bill" (Denise), grandsons Keith (Elizabeth) Graham, Grant (Allison) Graham and Blair Graham and sisters Kathlee Forbes and Elizabeth Carlson. She was predeceased by her husband William, sons Robert K. Graham and William Joseph Graham, parents Joseph and Lilian Dann and brother William Dann. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2004 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home. Irene Hutchinson December 05, 1932 - May 18, 2004 Peacefully at Henderson General Hospital on Tuesday May 18, 2004 in her 72nd year. Beloved wife and best friend of 52 years to Fred. Loving mother of Sue and Carlo Varrasso, Jim and Edel of Dublin, Ireland. Proud and loving Granny to Eric and Emily Varrasso. Survived by her dear sisters Dorothy and Mabel and brother Edward all of Northern Ireland. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends in Canada and abroad. Irene was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 58. In keeping with Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive relatives and friends at the L.G. Douglas Haig Munroe March 07, 1919 - May 16, 2004 MUNROE, Douglas Haig - 85, passed away May 16, 2004, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. He was a son of the late Cranswick and Lola (Hawes) Munroe (Cansoe). He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 35 years with Keith/Olands Brewery. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Camilla (Harvey); sons, Douglas (Shirley), Kenneth (Nicky), both of Ottawa, Ont.; Harold (Linda), Halifax; daughters, Doreen (Jim), Cathy, both of Halifax; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two grandsons. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22 at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. John William Sampson February 11, 1942 - May 12, 2004 SAMPSON – John William born in Glace Bay N.S. on February 11, 1942 passed away at home with his family by his side on May 12, 2004. John served in the Canadian Armed Forces, particularly in the 1st and 2nd Black Watch Battalions, in Gagetown, N.B. He also served with the U.N. Forces in Cyprus as well as various bases and units in Canada, completing his 26 years of service at Royal Roads Military College, Victoria, B.C. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Celeste. He will be deeply missed by his children, Barbara (Dan), Steve (Roanne) and Nicole (Greg); grandchildren, Justin, Kelsey, Taylor, Shanice, Alethia, Hannah and Aidan. He leaves to mourn, brothers, Fred (Barb), Murdock (Bernice), Aubrey (Jean), Aeldred (Betty) and predeceased by his brother, Harvey (Barb) and parents Fred and Mary. Phyllis Colter (nee Park) March 27, 1915 - May 14, 2004 On May 14, 2004, Allison passed away at the of 88. She was predeceased by her parents, William Ernest and Mary Agnes Park; brothers William”Bill” and Ted; sisters Agnes Fairburn and Rita McMann. She was also predeceased by her daughter Joyce Baker. She is survived by one sone, William Gerald Fizell and his wife Agnes; seven grandchildren, Debbie Fizell, Sheryl Enns, Connie Fizell, Jason Fizell, Brent Rutherford, Pam Lane, Tracy Wolfe and numerous great-grandchildren. Allison was born in Glenella, Manitoba, raised on a farm in Laurier, Manitoba. Mom spent thirty years of her life working for Eatons. After her retirement, she bought a small summer home in Birnie, Manitoba which she enjoyed immensely up until her health started failing. Her yard was always full of beautiful flowers and she had a huge garden that she shared with everyone. Mom was always there for her family and did her utmost to see them through any difficult times any of them may have had. As her health continued to get worse, Mom moved to an assisted living apartment in Selkirk to be near her son. She eventually had to move to the Tudor Home Personal Care facility until her passing. Born in Mulgrave, he was a son of the late Marjorie MacEachern. George was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for DOT and drove a taxi in Dartmouth for 42 years. He was a member of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalo's, Harbour Lodge No. 53, Pride of Dartmouth Lodge No. 54, Eastern Lodge No. 8686, Eastern Passage, Somme Legion No. 31, and a member of the Grand Lodge of Ontario. George was also an avid dart player. Olive Phyllis Perry (née Grant) April 21, 1920 - May 14, 2004 PERRY (Grant), Olive Phyllis - 84, Bedford, formerly of Middle Sackville, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2004. Born on April 21, 1920, in Scotch Hill, Pictou Co., Olive was the eldest child of the late Lillian (Johnson) and Gordon Grant. Following her education in New Glasgow, Olive joined the service in 1942 and served until 1946 in the CWAC. After the war, Olive continued her education in Halifax. Upon graduation, Olive worked at the Royal Bank, followed by a teaching career at the Vocational School and the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology. Olive married her beloved, Leland Perry in 1951. They enjoyed 38 years of married life. In her retirement years, Olive devoted her life to her family and the services of others in the community. Olive's interests included the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95, Bedford, where she was past president and secretary, Meals on Wheels, Senior's Club, Cobequid Multi-Service Centre, IODE Sackville, and Golden Link Rebekah Lodge No. 2 IOOF. In 2003, the Lake District Recreation Association awarded Olive Volunteer of the Year. Olive's survivors include chosen daughter, Lynn (James) Everett and their daughter Julie (Baylor) Crawford; sister, Gladys (Clarence) Porter; brother, Peter (Anna) Grant; sister-in-law, Ina Haas; nieces, Phyllis Porter-Baker (John) and Joan Porter; nephews, Douglas (Shannon) Grant and Scott (Donna) Grant; grandnephews, Joshua Grant and Christopher D'Eon; grandnieces, Melanie Grant, Amy Grant and Jacqueline Grant. Besides her parents and husband, Olive was predeceased by her nephews, David and Alan Porter; grandnephew, Jonathan Grant. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to devoted friends, Lynn and James Everett, Jean Behie, the Bedford Legion, Dr. J. Michael Ross Piercy August 08, 1939 - May 14, 2004 Michael Ross Piercy, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba August 8, 1939. After a lengthy battle with cancer, Mike passed away peacefully on May 14, 2004 surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents, Robert & Matilda Piercy, both of Winnipeg. Mike is survived by his son, Rob (Colleen), and daughters, Jandi (Mark) and Lynanne (Brian). He also leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren: Michael, Brittany, Nicholas and Jacob. The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation for the care provided by the team from Esquimalt Community Health (especially Pat Labourdais) and Juan de Fuca Home Support. She immigrated to this country with her 2 brothers in 1929, soon married Paul, and settled in Rossland B.C. where they started their family, later moving to Edmonton in 1947. Doris Treller Peacefully on May 16, 2004, Doris passed away at the Grace General Hospital. She is survived by her daughters Linda (Jack), Pamela (Stan), Heather, and Valerie; son Patrick (Brenda); her sister Joan (Charlie) and family in England; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Terrence, in 1999. Thank you to the staff at the Grace Hospital, along with all the staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their care and support with mom. Willem van Herk April 15, 1915 - May 13, 2004 Willem (Bill) van Herk passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 13, 2004. Willem was born in 1915 in Nieuwerkerk aan den Ijssel, Holland. He married Marretje van Dam June 20, 1940. After farming for 9 years in Holland, he brought his young family to Canada in 1949. His life's work of farming was his pride and the family farm at Edberg flourished. He loved the land and nature. Everything he did was for his beloved wife and family. Retiring in 1993, he moved to Beaumont and then to Edmonton. Willem was predeceased by a granddaughter, Miranda and baby great granddaughter, Amanda. He is survived by Marretje, his wife of 64 years; children Bill (Jenny), Bertha (Ken), Pieter (Nancy), Aritha (Robert), and Andrew (Mirja); 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family thanks the excellent staff at the Allan Grey Continuing Care Centre and Dr. M. Andruchow for their care. We give thanks to God for the life of our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Glenwood Funeral Home, South of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, Alberta. Michael Salteski April 18, 1917 - May 14, 2004 Peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2004, Michael Salteski passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his brother Peter and Steve and his sister Anne. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne; his sons Robert (Fran), Vern (Linda); grandchildren Dionne (Drew) Kendall, Kristofer , Natalie; great granddaughter Aurora Anne Kendall; and his sister Nell (Robert) Chamberlain. Adorado Cacho Bautista September 22, 1941 - May 13, 2004 ADORADO BAUTISTA Peacefully on May 13, 2004 at the age of 62 years, Adorado Bautista passed away at the Adorado was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Alfredo and Alejandrio. Adorado will be remembered by his lovingly wife Angelina of 35 years and his family, Maricel and family, his niece and Rey his grandson and family, Leo Orpilla (nephew) and family in England, and Nenita, his only sister in the Philippines. Adorado and his wife immigrated to Canada on November 11, 1974. Adorado was employed by the CNR for sixteen years and also by Philippines International Harvester. Lamay will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2004 and Thursday, May 20, 2004 from 6:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Irene May Hadden (nee Breakell) May 24, 1923 - May 14, 2004 Irene May Hadden age 81 of Amherst and formerly of Oshawa, Ontario passed away on Friday May 14, 2004 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan. Born in Bowmanville, Ontario she was a daughter of the late Harry and Ruby (Pym) Breakell. Irene worked for Canada Post in Oshawa for many years. She was an avid cat lover and will be sadly missed by her cat Willie. She is survived by her husband Bill Hadden, one daughter Mary (Bill) Lewis of Pugwash and one son Major Don (Laurie) Allen of Orleans, Ontario, one brother Don Breakell of Belleville, Ontario, four grandchildren Patrick and Andrew (Erin) Lewis both of Amherst and James and David Allen of Orleans, one great grandson Damien Lewis and several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her first husband Roy Allen, one sister Marnie Loney and one brother Bob Breakell. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Honore Haines It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our mother Honore May Haines on Friday, May 14, 2004 at Grace General Hospital at the age of 63 years. Honore was predeceased by her husband William and also her parents James and Dorothy Burns. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Kirby (Susan) Haines; Kimberley (Wayne) Mellor; Kerry (Jonathan) Miller; Kitt (Chris) Boken and Kent Haines; grandchildren Benjamin, Melissa, Amanda, Heather, and Cortland; great-grandchild Kenya. Honore also leaves to mourn her sisters Holly Guenther and Shelley Finnen, as well as nieces Leah (Troy) Sigurdur, Amber (Dean) Gallant; nephews Grant and Chris Guenther and Ashley Finnen; great- nephews Eric, Cameron and Lucas Sigurdur. Honore's life was devoted to her family with their well being at the forefront. Her door was always open for anyone to come share a cup of tea and lean on her shoulder. In compliance with Honore's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a formal funeral service. Joan Jarman On May 14, 2004, Joan passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Center. Joan will be sadly missed by her husband Larry of 60 years; son Rod; daughter Susan; son-in-law Edward; grandchildren Jordan and Whitney. Joan will also be remembered her brother Walt, cousin Jean and many friends and family in England. Joan will also be missed by many friends and extended family here in Canada. Joan was born and raised at Wallcrouch, Sussex. She attended school in Ticehurst. During the Second World War she joined the ATS and was attached to ACAC and the radio location division in Wales. In 1942, while on leave, she met Larry at a dance and on April 8, 1944 they married. She came to Winnipeg as a War-Bride in March 1946, and was active in the British Wives Club for many years. Joan was a homemaker and for 20 years worked part-time for Jack Andrews Pharmacy. After retirement, she enjoyed golfing and bowling. Joan loved to travel and enjoyed an active social life. God looked at his garden, And found an empty space. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest, God’s garden must be beautiful He only takes the best. Ivy Collingwood Cooper (née Richardson) March 15, 1914 - May 07, 2004 Ivy passed away Friday May 7th, at Versa Care. She was born in Newcastle, England March 15th, 1914 and immigrated to Canada in l928. She attended F.W.C.I. and North Bay Normal School. Ivy taught in South Gillies and Morson, Ontario. On April 17th, 1941 Ivy married Francis (Scotty) Cooper and raised their family in Current River. She was a longtime member and Elder at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Current River. Ivy was a member and served as Leader and Commissioner for Girl Guides of Canada and in the year 2000 received an award for 50 years of Long Service. She was a lifetime member of the Ontario Council as well as a member of the Trefoil Guild. Ivy was a longtime resident on Surrey Street. Her home and neighbourhood were important to her and she was able to live independently for a long time. Her family appreciates the many helping hands that were extended to Ivy by the people in her community. She spent her time enjoying summers with friends and family at Warnica Lake, knitting, being involved with the church gatherings, choirs and just keeping life simple by taking time to have a cup of tea. Ivy will be remembered for her playful spirit and her zest for life. She was caring and devoted to her family and truly loved spending time with others. She is survived by her son Alec of Stratford, Ontario; daughter Ellen (Bruce) Hole of Thunder Bay; grandson David (Laurie), great grandson Sean, grandson Scott (Judy), great grandson Jerimiah, grandson Rob (Jennifer), and great granddaughter Aidan. Mr. Fumitaka "Fumi" Kobayashi September 01, 1938 - May 12, 2004 Peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 12, 2004. Dear husband of Betty for 33 years and loving father of Anne and Laura. Brother of Michi (Yuki Koike) and loving son of Yoshie. Predeceased by his parents Chiyo (Tanaka) and Sanro Kobayashi and Muffy. Survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Fumi was retired from the Halton Board of Education since 1996. He was an avid car enthusiast which led him to his “hobby job” in the auto parts department at Canadian Tire in Dundas. Fumi was Past Master (1978) of Seymour Lodge #272 A.F. & A.M., GRC as well as a 32nd Degree Mason with the Scottish Rite. He was a volunteer with the Hamilton Regional Police Services in the Ancaster Division. He was a member of many classic car clubs. In his free time he enjoyed his music, gardening, birds. computers, cross country skiing, trout fishing, building and basically had his hand in everything he would want to try. Above all he was dedicated to his family and touched all who met him. Henri St-Onge October 18, 1912 - May 12, 2004 HENRI ST-ONGE 1912 - 2004 Peacefully, in his sleep, Henri passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 91 years. Born October 18 1912, son of Hector St.Onge and Angelina Campeau. Henri had a brother Roger who predeceased him in 1990 and a sister who died as an infant. He was born and raised on the family farm in Aubigny (Silver Plains) Manitoba on the banks of the Red River where he lived and farmed until he retired. On September 22 1943 he married Alice (nee Marcoux). They lived on the farm until their retirement in 1993 at which time they moved into the Eiffel Towers in St. Boniface. Henri was never happier then on his tractor working one of his fields. God in his wisdom must have given him a bit of Manitoba soil to putter in and plant to wheat the kernels of which will become hosts and consecrated into the body of Christ. As a young man he enjoyed playing the fiddle. After his retirement he loved bowling and playing cards. When his health failed he and his wife moved to Catherine place on Raymond Place. He appreciated the help of the care givers, especially Mary and Roger as well as all the Catherine Place staff for their devotion and kindness. Henri's last four months were spent equally between Catherine Place and St. Boniface Hospital. Besides his wife Alice he leaves three children: Annette, Lorraine (Gordon McAndrew), Marc (Irene nee Touzin) 6 grandchildren: Bridget, Christine (Donald), Jeffery, Michael (Shannon), Patrick, Eric and sister in-law Eva Guillou (nee Marcoux). Henri was a man who took pride in his work and believed that anything worthwhile doing was worthwhile doing well. He loved to talk and meet new people; he always made new friends wherever he went. Pepère was always supportive in the activities and accomplishment of his children and grandchildren, whether big or small. Prayers will be said at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street, with Sister Rose Desrochers, S.N.J.M. officiating. Viewing will be held at 1:30 p.m. prior to the prayers. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 17 in the Saint-Antoine d’Aubigny Roman Catholic Church (Aubigny, MB), with Father Charles Fillion presiding. Viewing will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of mass. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in Aubigny, Manitoba.
