WOOD Marjorie Grace (Dyett) Formerly of Hamilton, peacefully passed away at Tranquility Place in Brantford, Marjorie, age 92. Predeceased by husband Wray. Step-mother of Allan, Bernice, Carl and Donald. Will be missed by Hylda, Doug, Lynda, Liz, Wendy and Gina. Marjorie was a very dear friend of Bob at Tranquility Place. CROSSLAND, Marguerite Hilda "Peggy" CROSSLAND, Marguerite Hilda "Peggy" Marguerite Crossland passed away peacefully at Extendicare- Falconbridge on April 3, 2004 age 95. Born on March 2, 1909 in Yokohama, Japan, Peggy was the daughter of Albert Victor Francis and Catherine Emma Dorrell. She and the surviving members of her family left Japan after the Great Kanto earthquake of 1923 and settled in Vancouver, Canada. While training as a nurse in England, she met and married Charles Wilfred Crossland of Barrie, Ontario in 1934. The couple with their daughter, Dorothy, returned to Canada in 1936 and resided in Ottawa and the surrounding area. Daughters Anne was born in Ottawa, and Madeleine in Belleville. Peggy was an avid artist and studied under the artist Arthur Lismer of the Group of Seven. Her work was displayed in a regional showing at the National Museum of Canada in Ottawa. She sold over 100 of her paintings, and continued painting well into her 80's. After becoming a widow in 1962, Peggy also resumed her passion for travel, and traveled extensively around the world. In 1996 she left Ottawa and moved to Sudbury to be near her daughter, Anne. Peggy is survived by daughters Anne (Paul) Nelimarkka of Mississauga, Ontario, Madeleine (Dr. Herman) Samson of Plaquemine, Louisiana and son-in-law, Michael Bajorek, Ottawa; grandchildren Charles Samson, Los Angeles, Dr. Angela (Samson) wife of Dr. Ray McClure, St. Gabriel, Louisiana, Lisa Samson, New Orleans, Karina Nelimarkka, Mississauga, Ed Nelimarkka, Markham, Dmitri Bajorek, Ottawa, Robert Samson and wife Melissa, of Plaquemine, Louisiana. Peggy had five great-grandchildren as well, Abigail Samson, Carter Toole, Cecile McClure, Brady Samson and Connor Nelimarkka. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Crossland, daughter, Dorothy (Michael) Bajorek, son-in-law Paul Nelimarkka and siblings Doris, Mable, Cyril, Rose and Daphne. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Special thanks go to the staff of Extendicare-Falconbridge for the care and love extended to her during her final years. LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent Street, Sudbury is in charge of cremation. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury, Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 2 p.m. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Barrie. DeCICCIO, Cesare DeCICCIO, Cesare In loving memory of Cesare DeCiccio, 91 years, of Capreol, who passed away Friday morning, April 9th, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. He was born in San Clemente, Italy and married Angeline (Farelli) in 1938 in Sudbury. A longtime and well respected Capreol resident, Cesare had been a road master with the CNR retiring in 1972 with 41 1/2 years service. A devout Roman Catholic he belonged to Our Lady of Peace Church. He enjoyed bowling and in younger days was a keen gardener. An avid sports fan he was a loyal supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. Cesare will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who lived his life in balance and harmony. He was devoted to his loving family and the light of his life will be cherished by all who knew him. Beloved husband of Angeline (Farelli) DeCiccio predeceased 1992. Loving father of Elizabeth "Betty" DeCiccio of Capreol and the late Adeline Carey and Richard DeCiccio both predeceased. HILL, Elizabeth "Betty" Frances HILL, Elizabeth "Betty" Frances In loving memory of Elizabeth "Betty" Frances Hill who passed away peacefully in her 91st year Monday evening January 12, 2004 at Pioneer Manor, where she had resided since June 2002. Betty was born in Prescott, Ontario and spent her early years there. Following her marriage to Thomas B. Hill, they came to Sudbury where she has resided ever since. For a period of time, Betty worked in the office of Mensour Furniture. She was an accomplished pianist, organist and music teacher. Betty was also an ardent bridge enthusiast. Her circle of bridge friends spanned a period of more than 40 years. Her husband, Tommy, predeceased her in 1969. Betty is also predeceased by her parents, one brother and one sister. Betty was a long-standing member of Christ the King Church, and in later years, a regular participant in The Mass for Shut Ins. She was a gentle lady and was lovingly cared for by the staff of Diamond Lane at Pioneer Manor, and the wonderful staff in the Manor's Palliative Care Unit where she spent her last days. We wish also to thank Dr. J. E. Deacon for his compassionate care. Pat worked for INCO for forty years. He was an avid photographer and helped form the camera club in Gold Canyon, Arizona where he wintered for the past seven years. Harvey Wegner With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Harvey on April 9th, 2004 at the Grace Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lee of 56 years of marriage; three daughters, Diana Wegner of White Rock, BC, Debbie Burns (Bruce) of Winnipeg, Shelley Trach (Wayne) of Winnipeg; four grandchildren, Damien, Trina, Jennifer, and Daniel; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Jamie, Gillian, Luke and Cameron; sister Pearl Fraser of Don Mills, Ontario and nephew Brent and niece Kim. Harvey will also be missed by many friends and extended family. Harvey was born in Winnipeg on February 21, 1924 to Henry and Katherine Wegner (Brockie). He enlisted in the Airforce at 18 years of age with the 162 Squadron. He achieved the rank of Warrant Officer and was discharged in 1945. Harvey worked for the Public Press as a bookbinder for 46 years and retired in 1986. During that time he was very active in his union. For many years he was a member of the Valour Road Curling Club and the St. James Legion Billiard Team. Through his retirement, he participated in the Over Sixty Club and continued to pursue his love of golf, curling and billiards. Despite his failing health, Harvey carried on as best as he could and recently celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends. He will be loved and remembered for his quiet thoughtfulness, his warmth and steadiness, and his enduring good nature and good will. The family would like to extend their thanks to the caring and professional staff of the Third Floor North, Grace Hospital. MAY, Leon "Leo" In loving memory of Leon "Leo" May, 75 years of Sudbury, Who passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Extendicare-Falconbridge. He was born in St. Paul, Alberta. Leo was well known through the community as the self-taught inventor of the Miners Lunchbox. He started his hobby around 1956 when he designed a lunchpail for himself that he could sit on underground. His invention worked so well that it quickly caught the attention of his fellow miners and within a short time, Leo supplied most of the workforce in Sudbury, even inventing unique production equipment. His product went on to become famous around the world as the lunchpail that wouldn't quit and he took modest pride in the many annecdotes and testimonials of the lunchpail's durability. After retiring from INCO he never lost a day's work keeping busy with inventions and innovations and always found time for helping his friends with projects. When he wasn't working in his garage, Leo greatly enjoyed his passions of fishing, hunting and gardening. Beloved father of Catherine Langin (husband Dan) of Sudbury and Ken (wife Vicki) of Brandon, Manitoba. Missed by their mother Dell Allen. Cherished grandfather of Kara (husband Alex) Jeffrey, Carla, Kristi and Cory and great-grandfather of Anna, Sophie Shelayne, Kaitlyn and Kaylee. REID, Arthur "Art" Martin REID, Arthur "Art" Martin In loving memory of Arthur "Art" Martin Reid, 66 years, who passed away peacefully Monday, April 5, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site of a brain tumour. Art was a maintenance mechanic at INCO for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the INCO Quarter Century Club and served as a volunteer with the Sudbury Art Gallery where he received a Volunteer Service Award. Art lived an active and full life, he enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, scuba diving, kayaking, and canoeing. He had a great interest in fitness at both The Gym and the YMCA. Art and Doris travelled the world and spent 44 years of true love. Art was the definition of a gentleman, gracious, kind and caring. The priority of his life was his family, a strong pride of his daughters and a devoted love for his grandchildren. Beloved husband of Doris (Pyoli) Reid of Sudbury. STARK, Florence (Flo) - 1930-2004 beloved wife of Phil Stark, formerly of Coniston, ON, passed away in Calgary, AB on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the age of 73 years. Florence was a devoted wife and mother and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Florence loved to travel, especially to Florida. She loved playing darts with the Coniston Senior's Dart League, dancing and singing. She was a role model of goodness and love.
