Mary Lovallo At the West Park Manor Personal Care Home, on March 27, 2004, peacefully in her sleep, after a lengthy debilitation from Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Palermo, Sicily on January 26, 1907. She came to Canada in 1923. Married Sam on July 5, 1930. Predeceased by husband Sam on February 20, 1984. Her whole life was devoted to her husband, children and their families. Mom was the greatest fan and cheerleader as she followed her sons to their football and curling games. For many years she was famous for her Sunday Spaghetti dinners at her home with family and friends. She leaves to mourn three sons, Vince (Gail), Sam (Gladys), and Rick (Vini); two daughters, Doreen (Milt) Brown, Marie Turner (widow of Robert); six grandchildren, Monique (Brian) Light, Dana (Jeff) Vandal, Craig (Jennine) Brown, Cindy (Vince) LoPresti, Dawn Turner, Darren (Shawna) Turner; ten great-grandchildren, Simone, Renée, Aiden and Kieran Light; Kayleigh and Connor Brown; Nicole and Tiana LoPresti, and Devyn and Lindsay Turner; numerous nieces and nephews and special niece, Maria Santangelo. Thanks to the staff at West Park Manor for their kindness and loving care they gave to our mother for the past several years. Elizabeth Ann Willan Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Victoria) WILLAN Elizabeth Ann passed away peacefully in her home in Victoria BC on March 26, 2004 in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband Frank in 1998 and her sister Barbara in 1928, she is survived by her daughter Brenda, grandchildren Graham and Sarah, sister Nannette and nieces Susan, Cathy and Jane. Betty was a graduate of Olds Agricultural College. She was an active member of the IODE in Alberta including a term as President of the Provincial Chapter. When she and Frank retired to Victoria, she became involved in the Altar Guild of St. Lukes Church and enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Thank you Sheila, for making her life easier over these past years. Memorial service will be held in St. Luke's Anglican Church, 3821 Cedar Hill Cross Road on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Venerable J. R. Brown oficiating. Eldest son of Luella and Herb, Delmar was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather, devoted to his beloved wife Maxine, and an inspiration to his children Patricia, Ron and Rick, and grandchildren Adam, Julia, Ember, Meika, Caelum and Thomas. Delmar is survived by his wife, children, sisters Mabel Logan, Florence Holley, Maxine McKay, and Fran Gower, and brother Lester. He is predeceased by brothers Harold and Floyd. Delmar’s huge enthusiasm for life and people was exemplified by his active involvement as charter member of Grace United Church, his contribution to the establishment of the Lambton Outdoor Club, his years as a dedicated and well known Boy Scout leader, his boundless generosity and his passion for outdoor activities, curling, photography, gardening, and oil painting. Although he will be remembered for these contributions, the legacy of Delmar Ellis is his influence on the people who have known him. Del’s World War II army service in the dental Corps, and producing topographical maps with the Royal Canadian Engineers.He was a lifetime employee of Imperial Oil Limited. Kay is survived by her son George of Halifax and daughter Alice McInnis of Yarmouth, one granddaughter Jane McInnis - Wilson of Amherst and one grandson James McInnis of Nappan, N.S., four great grandchildren Jacy, Cheyenne, James and Miranda and one niece Jean. She was predeceased by her husband James and one brother Ray and one sister Thelma. Henry Falk Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2004, Henry passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 75. He was predeceased by father William; mother Sara; step-mother Elizabeth; sister Justina; and brother Dave. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife Kerry; son Dwayne (Lesley) Falk; daughter Charmaine Falk; his very special grandson Nory Falk; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Henry was employed with CN for 42 years until his retirement in 1993. It was through CN that he became an active member of C.B.R.T. and G.W. Local 142 where he served as the local chairman and remained an active participant even after his retirement. He always looked forward to his “Monthly Breakfast” with his union pals and his daily trips to Robin’s Donuts. Henry thoroughly enjoyed all the times spent together with grandson Nory, going to Moose games, Bomber games and always tying his skate laces just right at his own hockey games. He was a fixture at all of Nory’s sporting events and activities and was affectionately known as “Grandpa” to all. Dad was always there when somebody needed him and always willing to lend a hand to his family and friends. “He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.” Visitation will be held on Friday, April 2, 2004 from 7-8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Corinne (Clay), Michele (Ilija) of Toronto and Mike (Katie), her grandchildren Jacqueline, Johanne and Tracy, Bryce, Brett, sisters Doris Scaife (Chris), and Adeline Radcliffe and brother Harold Brown. She was predeceased by her husband Bryce, parents Annie and Harry Brown and brother Allen. Vi was born December 10, 1924 and grew up in Lundar. She practiced nursing until she married Bryce and devoted herself to raising her family. Vi’s faith was her strength; she was very active in her church, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and as a compassionate hospital visitor for many years. Vi lovingly dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was a great listener and she will always be remembered for her generosity and her warmth. A celebrations of Vi’s life will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 Winakwa Road on April 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in her memory may be sent to “Faith Gardens” Building Fund, 1311 Dakota Street, Wpg, MB R2N 1G8. WEAVER, Ethel Gwendolen, M.D., Died at Roseview Manor, Thunder Bay, Ontario on Wednesday, October 6, 2004. Dr. Weaver was born in Toronto on September 10, 1907, graduated from Havergal College and from the University of Toronto (Medicine 1933). She practiced medicine in St. Catharines, Ontario for 50 years, retiring in 1983. Gwen was a member of both St. Thomas Anglican Church and St. George's Anglican Church. She served on the executive of the YWCA for many years. In 1996 Gwen moved to Thunder Bay to be near her family. She was predeceased by her parents Canon and Mrs. R. L. Weaver and her sister Maude Boone. She is survived by her nieces Beth (Ken) Boegh and Margaret Boone, her great-niece Jennifer (Dean) Boese, great-nephew John Boegh g reat-great-nephew Nate Boese and family member Wendy Weaver. Thomas Derwood White Of Sydenham passed away suddenly at K.G.H., on September 5, 2004, after a short illness. He was 58. Thomas was born in Kingston the son of the late John and Edna White, and lived in the Kingston area all his life. He was a labour er at Ken's Vacuum Pumping and had also been a gardener and landscaper. Thomas attended Rideau Heights Public School. Thomas believed it possible to worship without the constraints of belonging to a church. He gave thanks every day for the special gi ft that life was! He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, hunter and enjoyed outings with family and special friends. During the last few years he decided shooting with a camera was more enjoyable than shooting with a gun or bow. Thomas is survived by his brother Robert (Pearl) White, sister Beverley (Ken) Corcoran, brother Don (Debbie) White, son Troy (Lori) White, daughter Steaci (Randy) White, granddaughter Morgan Thibault and grandson Jesse Harper. NEWELL, Edward William "Ted" - Of Peterborough, Ontario formerly of Toronto. Peacefully passed away August 18, 2004 at the Peterborough Regional Health Care Centre. Dear father of Edward Leo and Paul Cluthe Newell of Peterborough, and good friend of Eileen Patricia Newell. Retired chairman of family owned business Dominion Envelope Company; through which he worked diligently with the Workman's Compensation Board, and started profit sharing in his own company. For years Ted was a Director at the National Theatre School of Canada and also a director of the National Ballet Company of Toronto. He was a life patron of the Variety Club International. In his youth he played golf and was an active member of the Mississauga Golf Club and later was a member of for thirty years of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Ted retired and went to live with his sons in Peterborough. He is now resting at the Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, just by the lake. WILHELMY, Monique 1933 - 2004 Le 6 octobre 2004, au CHSLD Vigi Yves-Blais, est décédée Monique Wilhelmy, de Lachenaie. Elle sera grandement regrettée par ses frères François (Aline Dupaul), Jean (Rosanne Lefèbvre), Paul (Gaby Faucher) et sa soeur Thérèse (Robert Giroux). Ses neveux et nièces garderont d'elle le souvenir d'une tante exceptionnelle. Pour respecter la volonté de Monique, des funérailles privées seront célébrées. FAINTUCH, Gloria. After a hard struggle with cancer, Gloria Faintuch passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on the evening of September 18, 2004. She was laid to rest on September 23, 2004, at the Rosh Pina Cemetery. She is survived by her family; husband Arnold, sons Richard, Neil and Evan; grandchildren Jocelyn and Ian Faintuck; mother Mrs. Esther Binder; her sister and brother-in-law Carole and Ron Wolfe; niece Sherry Elazar, nephews Randy and Brent Wolfe and their spouses and children; and many other cherished relatives and friends. She was born in Winnipeg in 1935, and at an early age, moved to and enjoyed the friendship and community life of Rainy River, Ontario. At age 16, she and her younger sister, Carole, returned to Winnipeg to finish their education. Gloria attended the United College (now U of W) and was trained at the Misericordia Hospital as a Lab Technician. During this time, she met and married her husband Arnold, and shortly thereafter, they moved to Sudbury, Ontario, where their first son, Richard was born. In 1957, they went to Ottawa, where her other two sons, Neil and Evan, were born, and where she and her family spent 43 years, enjoying a lively community life with many valued friends. In 2000, the family returned to roots in Winnipeg. In the ensuing 4 1/2 years, she got deep satisfaction from renewing links with old friends, establishing new ones, and enjoying the warmth of extended family. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah-WIZO, and participated with her husband in the many activities of B'nai Brith in Ottawa. Her zest for life was enormous, and those who knew her, or had contact with her, felt and benefited from her approach to life. She will be sorely missed.
