Dear brother of Robert and Shirley Kennedy. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by 1 granddaughter. A private family visitation and service was held from The C. GLENN RALPH GALUSHA Glenn Ralph Galusha, 74, of R.R. #2, Devlin, Ont., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 at his residence in Fort Frances, Ont. He was born Oct. 30, 1929 in Piney, Man. to the late Ed and Nettie Galusha. On June 14, 1952, Glenn was united in marriage to Verva Fearing. Following their marriage, they moved to Devlin, where they raised their family and have lived since. Glenn logged in the area for a time, but his passion and love was farming, which he worked at for many years. Glenn also worked for Hydro and the mill in Fort Frances for a short time. He also was well-known in the district for moving homes. Glenn loved country music and travelled to Nashville twice. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 in Emo. He also enjoyed hunting, and playing cards with his family and friends. He always had coffee on, for friends to stop in and visit, and when opportunity arose loved being a bit of a jokester on his friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Verva Galusha on Jan. 3, 1989; three brothers, Elra, Roy and Jack; and four sisters, Laura, Pauline, Shirley, and Bonnie. Glenn is survived by his three daughters, Glenna and husband, Mark, of Devlin, Ont., Nancy of Ottawa, Ont., and Robin of Devlin, Ont.; five sons, Ted of Devlin, Ont., Steve and Terry of Emo, Ont.; Ralph and wife, Tamara, of Devlin, Ont., Carl and wife, Debbie, of Emo, Ont., and David and wife, Cindy, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and 18 grandchildren, Darrell, Warren, Shawn, Travis and wife, Sara, Adam, Carley, Dwight, Sheri-Lynn, Curtis, Amanda, Tess, Scott, Tressa, Chad, Brittany, Mason, Robbie, and Shelby. He also is survived by two brothers, Jerry Galusha and wife, Judy, of Sleeman, Ont., and Ken Galusha and wife, Lavern, of B.C.; four sisters, Cora Selman, Irene Stromness, and Pat Hughes, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Colleen Johnson of Warroad, Mn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, Ont. Pastor Peggy Mason officiated, with interment in Devlin Cemetery in Devlin. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo. Pallbearers were Shawn Hyatt, Joe Johnson, Pat Steele, Bob Steele, and Rob and Rick Brandrick. Honourary pallbearers were Wallace Hughes, George Hyatt, Norbert Bragg, Roger Allan, Bob Angus, Jack Miller, and Bob Woolsey. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, and his life was his family.

MURPHY, JAMES W. - The death of James W. Murphy, 59, occurred on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at his home in Saint John, NB following a brief illness. Jim was born in Saint John in 1944, a son of the late Frank and Bertha (Greer) Murphy. Jim spent most of his career as a broadcaster with CHSJ and the CBC; more recently, he was privileged to work with the Public Utilities Board. He is survived by his wife, Susan Lambert; his son, James Leo Murphy; two sisters, Carol (Rick) Lord of Bridgewater, NS and Frances (Tom) Clancy of Mississauga, ON; his brother, Gerald Murphy of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. ESTEY, GERALD SINCLAIR - The death of Gerald "Gerry" Sinclair Estey, husband of Marion Frances (Machum) Estey, of Millidgeville, NB occurred on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB a son of the late Arthur and Ensie (Mills) Estey, he was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the North Shore Regiment. Gerry was a longtime employee of Centracare until his retirement in 1985. Survived by his wife, Marion; one son, Steven (Elizabeth) and two beloved grandchildren, Michael and Megan of Saint John West; one brother, Ronald Burton (Loraine) Estey of Hammond River, NB; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters, Bernice Hanson and infant Joy and two brothers, Randolph (Randy) and Glendon. Né à Sainte-Marie-de-Kent le 6 avril 1908, il était fils de feu Placide Girouard et de feu Elizabeth Boucher. Dear Great Grandfather of Kristy, Daniel, Meghan, Jarrett, Seth, Sierra and Jenna. Son of the late Mary Ellen and Albert Kenyon of Montreal, Gerry was brother to Olive, Richard and Betty. Gerry was a proud member of Branch 76 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Holy Redeemer Parish and the former Minnow Lake Community Credit Union where he freely gave of his time. He was a fighter who recovered from seemingly insurmountable health issues in recent years and remained fiercely independent right up until the end. Above all else he enjoyed the company of his family and shared in a cottage reunion at Lake Rosseau only weeks before his passing. PERCY G. WALKER Word was received Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 that Percy Walker, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Walker, has passed away at Fullerton, Calif. at the age of 87. He was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ont., working for a short time at the local Toronto Dominion bank before moving to Thunder Bay, Ont. and later Fullerton, where he was employed as an accountant. He is survived by his wife, Elda (Robertson), formerly of International Falls, Mn.; and four daughters and their families. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Jean and Kathleen; and a brother, Jim. The couple’s last visit to Fort Frances was in 1994 to attend the high school reunion. From that time on, they took a keen interest in the J.W. Walker School, where they have had shrubs planted and contributed to the computer room. Indeed, they kept in touch through e-mail with the principal and students. Local friends had kept them up-to-date on the new addition to “their school.”

Roy Norman Nesby On August 6, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre, Roy Nesby, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Paulette Chartrand (née Poirier) of Chelmsford. Loving father of Sylvie and Eric both at home. Dear brother of Denise Sauvé (Raymond), Claire Girard (Roger), Pierre, Jacques, Louise Montpellier (Denis) all of Chelmsford and Denis (Nicole) of Sudbury. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his 12 nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Léonie Poirier (née Savignac) of Azilda and of the late Roger Poirier. Also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Lise Chartrand of Chelmsford, Joanne Robert (Rénald) of Sturgeon Falls, Lynne Philion (Donald) of Azilda, Réjean Poirier (Patricia) of Sault-Ste-Marie and Guy Poirier of Ottawa. Robert was community minded. He was involved with Sudbury Trail Plan program and acted as a S.T.O.P. officer. He enjoyed music, family reunions, hunting and fishing. A loving husband and father, Robert will always be remembered for his affection and care for his family. The family will receive friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691, Regional Road 15, Chelmsford, Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 pm. Keith Coughlin July 21, 1947-July 31, 2004 The family announces with sorrow his death at the Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury following brief illness on July 31, 2004, at the age of 57. Survived by his daughter Norma Magnan, sister Linda Lavoie (Tom) and one nephew Mark Lavoie, Uncle Lloyd Coughlin - Victoria, B.C. and numerous cousins including Ron Coughlin (Karen) - Ramore, and his beloved dog Snoopy and cat Cuddles. Also survived by step-daughters Tanya Pelkie (Rick) and Shauna Perron (Andy) and her children Jody Young, Christina and Jessica Perron. Also survived by son-in-law Daniel Magnan. Predeceased by his beloved parents Willard and Agnes (Schultz) Coughlin. Keith enjoyed reading, movies, gardening and was a die-hard Star Trek fan, interests he shared with only his daughter Norma. Keith also enjoyed fishing, camping — interests he shared with his step-daughter Tanya and Shauna while they were growing up. Keith resided in Ramore most of his life. LEO ANDREW NOONAN Peacefully, in faith, and surrounded by his loving family, Leo Andrew Noonan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004. He will be dearly missed by wife, Marie-Therese (Blanc); his son, Gerard (Shelly) and their children, Chelsey (Russell), Christopher (Karina), Kathleen (Kevin), Jenny, and Colleen; his son, Paul (Diane) and their children, Michael (Kelly), Christine, and Sarah; his daughter, Bernadette (Brian) and their children, Robert (Jessica), Peter, David, and Matthew; six great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Leo was predeceased by five children, Lorraine-Adele, Michael, Robert, Joseph, and Christine Marie. Leo was born in Perth, Ont. in 1921 to his parents, George and Lorraine, into a family of seven brothers and four sisters, who all predeceased him. He served in the R.C.A.F. from 1942-45 along with five of his brothers. He married in 1947, operated his own grocery business in Perth (1945-51), joined Canada Safeway in 1952, and operated stores in Winnipeg, Fort Frances, and Brampton, Ont. In 1971, he purchased a dining lounge in Fort Frances, which has developed into La Place Rendez-Vous—a 75-room resort facility on Rainy Lake. Upon retirement, one of Leo’s greatest joys and accomplishments was his involvement in CESO projects with First Nations groups in Ontario in the 1970s and overseas hotel projects in Jamaica, St. Kitts, Dominica, Peru, Indonesia, Chile, Guyana, and Guatemala. Leo loved people and was happiest when helping someone—a friend or a stranger. He served as president of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce and president of the St. Boniface Kiwanis Club. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. His dedicated service spanned many years and included various offices within the Knights: Grand Knight (1962-63) and charter member of the K of C Council #3531 in Perth. Leo also was a founding member of The Sunset Country Tourist Board until his retirement in 1985. Thank you to Donna Main and the staff at the Community Care Access Centre for helping to make Dad’s final days as peaceful and comfortable as possible. Also special friends Ron Bernardi and Lillian Newman, and cousin, Jack Watters. Prayers and viewing will be held Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 from 2-4:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Fort Frances. At 4:30 p.m., there will be prayers and presentation by the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion Colour Party. Mass of the Ressurection will be celebrated by Fr. Francis Pudicherry at 5 p.m. Cremation to follow. His ashes will be interred at the foot of his daughter, Christine Marie’s, grave in Holy Cross Cemetery in For Frances. Pallbearers will be his five grandchildren, Christopher Noonan, Michael Noonan, and Robert, Peter, and David Moen; and brother-in-law, Ian Adams. In addition, participating in the service will be his grandchildren, Christine, Sarah, and Colleen Noonan, and Matthew Moen. Honourary pallbearers will be his brother Knights from Council #2766. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Fort Frances Community Chest at 1201 Idylwild Dr., B-2, RR#2, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M3. “To know the Rose Is to know God To know the faced rose will bud again Is to know eternity.”

LACKIE, Myrtle Passed away on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2004 at the Creedan Valley Nursing Home in Creemore in her 100th year. Pre-deceased by her husband Clarence who died in 1976. Survived by her son Bob (wife Georgina) and by three grandchildren Sandra (husband Brian) Daniels, Murray (wife Sandra) and Nora (husband John) Hamilton and by six great-grandchildren ages 8 to 15. One of a family of nine, survived only by her brother Max Guy (age 92). Interred in Barrie Union Cemetery beside her Clarence on Monday, August 9th.
