Mother of Ardyth Elliott and Lynne Bellfoy (Jacques Clement). Dear grandmother of Tanya Desnoyers (Eric) and Shannon Bellfoy (Gilles Beauchemin). Adored "Nanny" to Nicholas and Ashlyn Beauchemin and Victoria Desnoyers. Predeceased by her sister Jean Barnett and nephew Wayne Barnett. GARDNER, Mary Ann (nee Lukie) In loving memory of Mary Ann Gardner who passed away peacefully, Friday, April 23, 2004 at her home, surrounded by family. Born in Grandview, Manitoba, Mary Ann was a devout Catholic who enjoyed the privilege of worshipping in both the Ukrainian Catholic and Roman Catholic faiths. She was a past president of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, and a member of the Royal Purple, Canadian Cancer Society and the Committee Against Obscenity in Literature. Mary Ann loved her gardens, both vegetable and flowers; now she is tending to God's Garden. She was gifted with a special talent for needlepoint. Church was a center piece of her life, she enjoyed all the peoples of Manitoulin Island especially those of the church in Little Current. She will be remembered as a loving and generous woman who had a strong will and a big heart, especially for her family. She shared a wonderful spiritual and family life with George, always highlighted at the cottage or simply fishing. Beloved wife of George Gardner of Sudbury; predeceased by Fred Huska and John Yasuik. Loving mother of Helen (husband Bill Smith) and Molly (husband Michael Guyan) both of Sudbury; predeceased by Anthony "Tony" (wife Anita of Sudbury). Osborne, Barbara Louise After a long and exhausting battle with cancer, Barbara Osborne Johnston passed away April 23, 2004. Barb is survived by her husband Ron Johnston, her five children Bill Osborne of Prince Albert, Sk., Janice Imbeault (Vic) of Barrie, On; Barbara Dziepak (Ed) of Edmonton, Ab; Sandra Laflair and San Poo of Barrie, On; Elizabeth Gammon (Darrell) of Ottawa, On; two stepchildren Donna Jansen (Dale) of Guelph, On; Brian Johnston of Guelph, On; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Robert Sims (Janet) and her sister Mary Johnston (Orville); five nephews and several aunts and uncles. ADRIAN VanROOYEN Mr. Adrianus (Adrian) Zegert Willem VanRooyen, 64, of Cambrian Cres., passed away unexpectedly upon arrival at hospital on Thursday, April 22, 2004. Born Dec. 3, 1939 in Harmelen, Holland, he emigrated to Canada in 1948, where his family settled in St. Catharines, Ont. When he was 19, he joined the Ministry of Natural Resources, which brought him to Northwestern Ontario. Later, he worked as a forest ranger and conservation officer throughout the northwest. He was the assistant superintendent of Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and Quetico Provincial Park, and in June, 1993 he retired as Senior Land Technician. After his “official” retirement, he also worked for Home Hardware and the Boy Scouts of North America. Adrian had a strong commitment to community life and was involved in numerous activities, including the Lion’s Club in Atikokan (past president), the library board, and as a board member of the Economic Development Center and the Barrier Free Committee. Adrian expressed his creativity through numerous indoor and outdoor hobbies, including gardening and sketching. And during the last two years, he found great pride and much happiness in caring for his and Sonja’s bed and breakfast and their extensive travels. Adrian will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and his great love for family and friends. He was predeceased by Lynne, Elizabeth, his wife of 36 years; his parents, Hendrik and Geertruida; and sister, Elly DeRooy (Nick). He is survived by his wife, Sonja Marie; daughter, Gena VanRooyen and fiancé, Jamie Arnott of Hamilton, Ont.; son, Scott VanRooyen (Monique) of Riviere Qui Barre, Alta.; step-daughters, Christie Hartley (Ryan) and Cathie Isaksen (Derek); father-in-law, Carl Nielsen (Annelise); grandchildren, Liam and Keegan VanRooyen, and Joshua and Kamryn Hartley; brothers, Henk VanRooyen (Fya) in the Netherlands, and Joh VanRooyen (Ena) in Barrie, Ont.; and sister, Trudy (Alvin) Smith in St. Catharines. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services were held Monday, April 26, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Matthew Diegel officiating. NESBITT, Robert (Bob) J., Passed away Friday, April 23, 2004, at the age of 68, after a sudden illness. He will be missed by his wife Barb, his four boys, their spouses and his grandchildren, along with family and friends everywhere. Born on Decembe r 7, 1935, in a small farming town in Saskatchewan, he brought the famed prairie friendliness with him when he and his family moved to Ontario in 1972. He held a variety of positions in sales and management, spending the last 16 years of his working life drawing on that experience as a business analyst with the provincial government in the Niagara Region. Bob, as everyone called him, was recently retired, which allowed him to spend more time with people he loved. For leisure, he worked on cars, explored Canada with Barb in a little red convertible, fixed stuff, turned their yard into a showpiece, and in his spare time was a member of his church choir, Chapel Singers, and most any volunteer organization that asked for help. A husband, father , grandfather, friend, volunteer, Bob will be remembered at the Welland Avenue United Church, 5 Henry Street, on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are welcome. Henriette `Hattie` Dionne À l’Hôpital Général de Grand-Sault, le mercredi 21 avril 2004, à l’âge de 86 ans et onze mois, est décédée Henriette "Hattie" Cormier Dionne, domiciliée à la Résidence Dr. Bernard Nowlan de Grand-Sault. Elle était épouse de feu Fortunat Dionne. Née à Grand Sault en 1917, elle était fille de feu Fred R. Cormier et de feu Alphonsine Thibodeau. Elle a été précédée par trois enfants, Jean-Marie, Priscilla et Monique. Elle laisse dans le deuil quatre filles, Fernande (Robert "Bobby" Bellefleur) d'Edmundston, Gaëtanne Dionne de Granby, Québec, Micheline (Aldéo "Babe" Gagnon) de Grand-Sault et Suzanne Dionne de Fort Lauderdale, Floride, un gendre, Robert Duvalier de la Floride, neuf petits-enfants, neuf arrière-petits-enfants, ainsi que nombreux neveux et nièces. Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le samedi 24 avril à 14h, en l’église de l’Assomption de Grand-Sault, et l’inhumation au cimetière Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue de Saint-Léonard-Parent.
