MCADAM, DONALD ARCHIE "DIGGER" The family of Digger McAdam of Wilmot, NS, announce with great sadness the passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. On 25 November 2003 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, following a courageous battle with cancer, in his 69th year. Born 19 March 1934, he was the youngest son of the late Donald and Dorothy (McGuire) McAdam of Fredericton, NB. Spending his youth in Fredericton he was active in the Boy Scout movement, obtaining the exemplary standard of King Scout. He was educated at the Fredericton Business College, before departing home to enroll in the Royal Canadian Air Force. During his military career, from 1952-1976, he saw duty in St. Jean, PQ, Clinton, ON, Comox, BC, Summerside, PE, Shearwater and Greenwood, NS. As a businessman he was the owner operator of the former Meadowbrook Motel in St. Stephen, NB, and the Orchard Queen Motel and Campground, The Art Barn and Frames For Less in Middleton, NS. Following retirement he spent his summers in Wilmot, NS and during the winter he enjoyed the life of a Snowbird in his much-loved second home of Bayshore Windmill Village, Bradenton, Florida. An ardent and accomplished "shuffler", "Digger" was an active member of the Sun Coast District Shuffleboard Association. He enjoyed the spirit and camaraderie of competition, and he won numerous gold, silver and bronze medals for competition in the Florida Senior Games. In March 2003 he attained Florida State Amateur status in competitive play. Digger was a former member of the Greenwood Curling Club, Middleton Curling Club, 107 Valley Wing Air Force Association, and a 48 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was affiliated for 37 years with Kingston Branch No. 98 where he engaged in his love of billiards and friendly competition. "Digger" is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (Liz), his sons Scott (Sharon) of Dartmouth, NS, Pat (Mary) of Fredericton, NB, Jim of Greenfield, NS, daughter Debra (Doug) Lyon of Stittsville, ON, and daughter-in-law Marilyn McAdam of Harrietsfield, NS. He will be sadly missed by his eight loving grandchildren: Ryan, Robert, Jessica, Kathryn, Melissa, Jamie, Courtney and Ashley. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother, and last surviving member of his immediate family, Walter (Ruth) of Calgary, AB; his brother-in-law Frank (Jeanne) Richards of St. Stephen, NB; his nieces, Nancy Gibbs and Susan McAdam; his nephews Mike and Tim McAdam and Stephen and Bill Richards and their families. He was predeceased by his brother Patrick, nephew Christopher, and inlaws Harry and Beulah Richards. His many friends and companions will miss him greatly, but remember him lovingly, as a sociable, friendly, honest, and loyal man with a wonderful sense of humour. He enjoyed life and especially his fun in the sun. Following cremation a Legion service will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 28. Visiting 7-9 p.m. Friday, and a memorial service and reception at 2 p.m. on Saturday all at Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton, Padre Art Crawley officiating. FLORENCE MAY POITRAS (nee SMITH) December 26, 1919-November 23, 2003 Florence passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2003 at the Victoria General Hospital following a brief illness. Flo was predeceased by her husband Edward; a daughter Carol Ann and a brother Sydney. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her sons, Wayne and Roger (Christine); grandsons, Derek and Garth; loving sister-in-law Rita Cherlet and family; brother-in-law Ralph Tofflemire. Flo is also survived by numerous other relatives and dear friends. Outre sa chère épouse Fernande Harbeck, il laisse dans le deuil son neveu Charles Harbeck et sa nièce Suzanne Harbeck, sa belle-soeur Pauline Harbeck et les deux filles de Suzanne, Marie-Laurence et Amélie. CLUFF, FLORENCE GRAY GIBSON - Florence Gray Gibson Cluff passed away in her 90th year on November 19 at the Woodstock Hospital. She was the daughter of the late William A. Gibson and Jessie E. (Gray) Gibson and the widow of Hollis V. Cluff. Survived by her niece Beverley Gibson Richardson (Paul) of Kanata, Ontario, four great nieces and three great nephews. Her sister Janie R. Anderson, brother Howard E. Gibson, nephews Clinton Gibson and Richard Gibson, and two great nephews pre-deceased her. Florence was a graduate of Woodstock High School and the New Brunswick Normal School. She started her teaching career at the age of 19 and taught in several areas in New Brunswick, followed by 12 years in British Columbia where she retired after 47 years in a profession she loved. On retirement, Florence and Hollis returned to Jacksonville, New Brunswick. After Hollis's death in 1986, she was one of the original residents at Windsor Court in Fredericton which was her home for 13 years. During the past few months, she was a resident of Carleton Manor in Woodstock.. Many thanks to the staff at Windsor Court, Carleton Manor, Chalmers Hospital, Minto River Valley Health Centre and the Woodstock Hospital for the care given to her. DALEY, Floyd G. - With family by his side, at his residence, on November 25, 2003, at the age of 83 years. Floyd G. Daley went home to be with his Lord. Loving husband for 51 years to Iris (nee Mooring). Devoted and proud father of Debra Wilson (George), Robin Ane (Phil), Jill Green (Stephen), David Daley, Jayne Cascagnette and Mark Daley (Hilary). Much loved "grandpa" of 14 grandchildren. Brother of Ross Daley (Madelaine). Floyd is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Floyd worked for Ontario Hydro for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He became a Christian in 1957, and has been a loyal and faithful servant ever since. Floyd's love for the Lord could be seen through his love for his family, and through his kind and gentle nature towards others. Mildred "Diddy" Fenton 1919-2003 Mildred "Diddy" Fenton, 84, of Riverside-Albert passed away on November 25, 2003 at the Moncton City Hospital. Mildred was born in Germantown on January 30, 1919 the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Martin) Fenton. She worked for many years as a store clerk and then a postal clerk. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She was a very important part of her family and loved the time she spent with them. Mildred was a beloved sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her sister Marion Black of Riverside-Albert; brother Leonard Fenton (Beth) of Riverside-Albert; step brother Vincent Duffy (Kay) of Hopewell Hill; sister-in-law Ardith Fenton of Moncton and several loving nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her step mother Susie (Dornan) Fenton; an Uncle Arthur; brother Clement Fenton; step brothers George Duffy, James Duffy,Francis Duffy and several nephews.
