He is survived by his beloved wife the former Emilia Ledoux who grew up in Astorville, his stepson Richard Ledoux of North Bay, his dear sister Eva Corbeil of North Bay. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters; Edouard Chenier, Noella Morin, Lucienne Mercier, Aldege Chenier and Roseanne Ranger. Also predeceased by his stepbrothers and sisters Annie, William, Pearl, Duncan, Leslie and Ernest. Abel was a veteran from World War II and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 254 for over 50 years. Friends and relatives may call at the T.L. ARTELLE, Rene Y. On June 20, 2003 Rene Artelle, beloved husband of Julie Laycok-Artelle of Spruce Grove gently passed away at the age of 56 years. Rene was originally from Ontario but moved out west-enticed by the beautiful skiing mountains of Alberta. After a stay in Banff, he moved to Calgary where he was an active member of the Calgary Softball Umpire Assocation. In 1990 Rene and Julie moved to Spruce Grove where he became Umpire in Chief. His biggest regret in life is when he had to retire from Umpiring due to declining helath. Although Rene never became or endeavored to become a Rocket Scientist or famous political figure, he was a well known local character and he and his green van and dogs were a familiar sight in Spruce Grove. Rene loved a lot of things; his wife, his dogs and cats, his home, his handmade shelves, his die-cast cars and his great diversity of friends. He will be greatly missed by all. His ashes will be spread among the many baseball diamonds in Alberta and on a mountain overlooking Kelly Lake, NWT. Vernon passed away peacefully June 21, 2003 in the Pine Falls Hospital at the age of 79. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Markham (Annette) Lee of Conestogo, Ont., and family Jennifer (Ken) Foster and daughter Savannah of Wilmington, N.C., Heather (Tesh) Nielsen of Conestogo, Ont., Sean Lee of Connestogo, Ont; Son Patrick (Lynn) Lee of St. Andrew's Man., and family Jenna, Kelsey and Christa Lee; Daughter Michael Lee of Waterloo, Ont., and Casey Lee, (Tabby Cat, Extraodinaire). Vernon is survived by brothers, Glen (Betty) Lester and Lorne (Anne) Lester; sister Marina (Jim) Chapel and sister-in-law Helen Trainor. She was predeceased by her mother Laela Ateah-Lester, father Albert Trainor, step father Rex Lester, sister Ellen (Walter) Whyte and brother Bert Trainor. Vernon was born in Winnipeg, Man. February 20, 1924 to Laela (Ateah) and Albert Trainor. Laela later married Rex Lester, who continued to nurture and love Vernon, Ellen and Bert trainor along with their own additions of Glen, Lorne and Marina Lester. Vernon was the grand daughter of pioneers Mr. and Mrs.. Michael Ateah of Victoria Beach. She also continued throughout her life as a pioneer. Her achievements are too many to mention. Her kindness, generosity, and her humor will be fondly remembered by her family, friends and the creatures of the woods. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and staff of the pine Falls hospital for their kindness and care. A special love and thank you to Stella, Liz and home care team from the Lee family. ROY David Stewart passed into the presence of his Lord on Sunday June 22, 2003. Dave was born in Victoria, BC on August 29, 1946 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. He left Victoria in 1973 to live in the Lower Mainland area where he met his true love Barbara at Heather Bible Chapel. They were married on October 19, 1974 and within six years were blessed with two lovely daughters, Joanna (Shawn) Hetzler and Rosalee (Ben) Glasstetter. For the last two years of David's life he fought a courageous battle with cancer, and on Sunday, June 22 at 4:53 p.m. his Lord and Savior called him Home! John 14:3. David will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Graveside Service will take place on Friday June 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660-72 Avenue, Surrey. Lucie Trottier, résidente de Kapuskasing Extendicare Nursing Home, est décédée à l'hôpital de Timmins le 20 juin, 2003 à l'âge de 67 ans. Elle est née à Moonbeam le 18 mai, 1936. Elle fut aide infirmière au North Centennial Manor de Kapuskasing et au Cochrane Nursing Home. Elle s'est dévouée au service des autres en accueillant les membres des familles à l'Extendicare de Kapuskasing. Elle était Fille d'Isabelle et membre des auxiliaires du nursing home. Elle est pré-décédée par son mari Jean-Baptiste Trottier, ses parents Aurèle et Aurore Credger ainsi que son frère Gaston (Georgette) Credger de Kapuskasing. She will be mourned by her sister Beatrice (Dube) and her sisters-in-law, Sue and Catherine, and her nephew Gerry Dupuis and other nieces and nephews as well as by all her Sisters of the Holy Cross family. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. and a paraliturgy on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will take place at St. Joseph Pavilion, 900 Cote Vertu on Thursday, June 26 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be received in her name for Holy Cross Missions.
