Passed away on Monday, June 16, 2003. Les was born in Medicine Hat, AB, on April 29, 1925. Les served in the Armed Forces for three years and then followed in his father's footsteps working as a station agent and telegrapher. In 1961 he became secretary of the New Democratic Party and moved his family to Regina. Les was elected to Parliament in 1968 and represented the Regina area until his retirement in 1993. He won seven elections and served his city, province and his country for 25 years. As transportation critic, he earned the title, "Boxcar" Benjamin. Les was predeceased by his father, Arthur, his mother, Edna, his beloved daughter, Shelley and his sister, Margaret. Les is survived by his wife Constance; daughter, Ruth (Don) Kirkpatrick, Keith and John; son, Gordon (Brenda) Benjamin, Blair and Michael; step daughters, Sheila (Nigel) Kinzel, Scott; and Shawna (Mark) Schultz, Rayna and Emma and sister Audrey Alexander. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the H.B. Bell Lobby, Centre of the Arts, Regina. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Laurie, her children Sharon (John) Braun, Randy (Ione) Liberty and Jonathan (Sandra) Liberty, her grandchildren Rose Braun, Evan, Tegan and Anna Liberty, and her siblings Jessie (Marion) Swain, Ron (Jean) Low, David "Mort" (Barbee) Low, Ken (Janice) Low and Eric Low. After returning to nursing and doing training with Dr. Balfour Mount at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Carol started the first functional Palliative Care service in Ontario at the Riverside Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. Passed away peacefully in his residence at Floralies LaSalle, in Montreal in the early morning of June 14, 2003. Bill would have celebrated his ninetieth birthday on July 24, 2003. Predeceased by his wife Eunice Hamilton (1988) and his grandson Jamie Clarke (1992). Survived by his daughter Carol and son-in-law Rodney Clarke of Ontario. Bill was retired from Canadair and was a long time member of the Laurentide Lodge in St. Laurent. VILLEMERE, William "Bill" In loving memory of William "Bill" Villemere, 85 years who passed away 85 years, Thursday, June 19th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital-Memorial Site. Born in Sudbury he married Marion in Toronto, in 1943. He worked as a conductor and trainman with the C.P.R. for over 30 years, retiring in 1979. CARRIER LÉVIS 1915-2003 À Drummondville, le 14 juin 2003 est décédé à l'âge de 88 ans monsieur Lévis Carrier, veuf de Yvette Cloutier, demeurant à Drummondville. M. Carrier a reposé au Centre J.N. Donais, coopérative funéraire, 191, rue Lindsay, Drummondville. Les funérailles ont eu lieu le mercredi 18 juin 2003 en l'église Saint-Frédéric, inhumation au cimetière Saint-Germain-de-Grantham. M. Carrier laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Lise (Jacques Banville), Yves (Jocelyne Houle), Michelle (Georges Bourgeois), Georgette (Clovis Chapdelaine), Denis (Jocelyne Leclerc), Danielle (Marc Essiambre); ses 16 petits-enfants et 14 arrière-petits-enfants; ses beaux-frères et belles-soeurs Carmen Cloutier (Fernand Bussières), Yves Cloutier, Jacques Cloutier, Maurice Cloutier, Robert Cloutier, Amanda Carrier, Lydia Carrier; ses neveux et nièces; ainsi que plusieurs autres parents et amis.
