Roberta Joan Grimson Roberta Joan Grimson (nee Morrison), 57, passed away at Estevan, Sask. on Monday, April 8, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Milton of Estevan, Sask.; son, Chad of Estevan, Sask.; daughter, Tara of Estevan, Sask.; brothers, Doug (Beverley) Morrison of Estevan, Sask., Michael (Heather) Morrison of Big Valley, Alta.; and Pat (Jane) Morrison of Edmonton, Alta.; sisters, Colleen McCarthy of Estevan, Sask., Judy (Dennis) Abbot of Logan Lake, B.C., and Holly (Vic) Frank of Estevan, Sask.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Hughes and Sally Morrison. Funeral services were held Friday, April 12, 2002 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church in Estevan, with Rev. M. Barnabas and Canon David Holmes officiating. Interment followed at Estevan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Regina, Sask., or St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Estevan, Sask.

M. Roger Robitaille est décédé le 23 avril 2002, à l'hôpital Général d'Ottawa, à l'âge de 53 ans. Il était l'époux bien-aimé de Lise Labelle et fils de feu Adrien Robitaille et de feu Lumina Bernier. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Chantal (Martin St-Jean) et Martin; son petit-fils Philippe. (Wing Commander Harry Forbes, DFC, CD, RCAF) With great sadness the family announces his death on April 21, 2002 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Born in Tatamagouche on June 15, 1914, son of the Rev. William Forbes (1870-1918) of Little Harbour, Pictou Co., and of Blanche O'Brien (1878-1957) of Noel. A devoted husband for 55 years, he is survived by his loving wife Evelyn (nee Lawrence), his sister Kay, his children Donald (and Linda), Roderick (and Trudie) and grandchildren Niall, Andrew, and Keldi. He was predeceased by his sister Florence, brothers Donald and William, and grandson Iain. After working in the Bank of Nova Scotia, he enrolled at Dalhousie University in 1939, enlisted in 1940 and served with distinction through two tours as a navigator with RCAF and RAF squadrons. Flying with the Pathfinder Force, he and his pilot Andre van Amsterdam where shot down near Berlin in March, 1945. He remained with the RCAF until 1963, serving in Alaska, on the Korean Airlift, as OC advanced navigation training, and as the Canadian air representative to a NATO organization in London. A second career with CIDA provided opportunities to foster health, educational, and community development efforts in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean and included four years in Jamaica. A bookbinder and collector with strong interests in early maps, geography and language, he completed a BA in Political Science at Carleton University. A much-loved garden in the Gatineau Valley (Quebec) and painstaking genealogical research were among his later interests. A funeral service will be held in Christ Church, Dartmouth, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, with reception to follow. On Monday, April 22, 2002, Andrew David McVey left our world. He died peacefully at home of complications arising from his Cerebral Palsy. He was surrounded by his family and friends who loved and cared for him throughout the challenges of his life. Andrew was the son of Isobel Kay (Larry Fitzpatrick) of Maitland and Geoffrey McVey of Brockville. He will be missed by his twin brother Bradley, grandmother Cathy Kay, uncles John Kay and Barrie Kay (Leslie Truesdell) of Lansdowne, grandparents Gordon and Mary McVey of Kemptville, Uncle Terry, Aunt Lauren, Chris, Sarah and Rachel McVey of Deep River. Surrounded by his family and friends, at the age of 34, passed away peacefully after a short struggle with cancer on Tuesday, April 23, 2002. (nee Pugh) Quietly, on April 19, in the company of her family. Mother of Marilyn and Raymond, predeceased by her husband Malcolm (of Rose Bay, Nova Scotia) and her parents Violet and Raymond Pugh. Doris was strong and determined throughout her life and always cared greatly for children, young people and those in need. She recently celebrated her 79th birthday with pride and will always be lovingly remembered for her unfailing commitment to duty, her kindness and her keen spirit of adventure. During her early years, she took nurse's training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, and after working for a while as an RN she became a stewardess with TransCanada Airlines. Her TCA years following the war included flying out of Montreal, Toronto, Boston, Halifax and St. John's in DC3s, DC4s and Lockheed 10s. One of the Lockheed 10s which Doris crewed is now on display at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa. She was about to sign on for transatlantic service but chose to marry and raise a family instead. A small family ceremony marking her passing was held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, Ottawa this week. A memorial service in celebration of her life will take place in her ancestral village of Nashwaaksis, New Brunswick, in June. In her later years, Doris had a great fondness for watching the wonderous antics of small animals and birds. A small donation to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Wild Bird Care Centre in Nepean would be appreciated. Alternatively, her many friends may wish to remember her by offering an occasional sprinkling of wild bird seed to their neighbourhood sparrows next winter. The Ottawa Citizen, 24-04-2002

LAJOIE, Frère Jean-Luc c.s.c. Le frère Jean-Luc Lajoie, religieux de Sainte-Croix, est décédé au Grand-Saint-Joseph à Laval, le 20 avril 2002, à l’âge de 66 ans, après 48 ans de vie religieuse. Le défunt naquit le 23 mai 1935, à Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu, fils de Irénée Lajoie et de Martine Dauphinais. Novice le 15 août 1952, il prononça ses premiers voeux le 16 août 1953; il fit profession perpétuelle le 16 août 1957. Il avait fait le voeu des missions. Après avoir étudié à l’école de Saint-Denis, puis au Juvénat Saint-Joseph et au Scolasticat, il poursuivra des études à l’École d’agriculture de Sainte-Martine, qui lui valurent un diplôme et des certificats, entre autres en culture ornementale. Après avoir travaillé à des travaux d’entretien au noviciat de Carillon et au Collège de Saint-Césaire, il suivit des cours d’anglais pour se préparer à aller au Bangladesh où il travailla à l’entretien à l’École Saint-Placid, à Chittagong pendant deux ans. Revenu au pays, il travailla aux serres à Carillon et au service de la province. Son emploi principal, pendant une quinzaine d’années fut la fonction de camionneur aux Presses Élite. Ses dernières années de vie active se déroulèrent au Collège Notre-Dame de 1986 à 2001 où, en dépit de son mauvais état de santé, il continua à rendre de multiples services : commissionnaire, chauffeur bénévole, etc. Malgré sa maladie et tous les inconvénients, il fut toujours d’une grande patience et d’un grand dévouement, ne refusant jamais de rendre service. Son talent pour la décoration florale, pratiqué dès les Presses Élite, se poursuivit ensuite en ornant de fleurs le terrain de la communauté au cimetière et les parterres de l’église Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, ces dernières années. En plus des membres de sa communauté, il laisse dans le deuil ses frères Jacques-Aimé (Yolande Charron), Côme (Jacqueline Desrosiers), Jean-Guy (Lise Martin), Gélas (Fernande Bouvier), ses soeurs Géralda (Jean-Claude Jalbert), Pierrette (Réjean Deslandes), une belle-soeur, Agathe Vigeant (feu Daniel Lajoie), plusieurs neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Le frère Réjean Charette, supérieur provincial suppléant des Frères de Sainte-Croix, offre ses plus sincères condoléances aux parents et amis du défunt. ANGERS, Alexandre 1921 - 2002 Lieutenant-colonel à la retraite, Chevalier de l’Ordre de St-Lazare de Jérusalem ainsi que de l’Ordre de St-Jean de Jérusalem. Décédé paisiblement à Montréal, le vendredi 19 avril à l’hôpital du Sacré-Coeur. Vétéran de la bataille de Normandie en juillet 1944 au cours de laquelle il s’est distingué par son courage et sa bravoure. Il est rapidement promu capitaine en juillet 1944 et major le mois suivant. Blessé près de Bourg-Bourg (France) en septembre 1944, il est évacué en Angleterre pour une longue convalescence. De retour au pays, il est promu au rang de lieutenant-colonel et prend le commandement du Régiment de Maisonneuve de 1954 à 1956. Il devient par la suite directeur général adjoint de la Protection civile provinciale. Il termine sa carrière civile au Gouvernement fédéral à titre de directeur des compensations aux provinces en cas de désastres d’ordre majeur. Il laisse dans le deuil ses deux fils Marc et Philippe, son frère Jacques, ses neveux et nièces, sa compagne bien-aimée Dorothy Beaulieu ainsi que ses amis de toujours. Il est prédécédé par son frère Réal Angers. At Quinte Healthcare Belleville General, on Monday, April 22, 2002, Steve Moore, of Ivanhoe, in his 49th year. Son of Ralph and Jessie Moore, Windsor, NS. Husband of Stephanie (Stephens). Father of Christina and Michelle Moore, both of Peterborough; Jamie Mastorakos and Fiancee Katie May and John Mastorakos and wife Tanya, all of Ivanhoe. Brother of Jeanne and Peter Manoussos, Carleton Place; Beth Moore and friend John Corbett, Kingston; and Maureen and Jim Kinney, Texas, USA. Steve was born in Windsor, NS (the birthplace of hockey); graduated from LaSalle Secondary School, Kingston and Algonquin College, Ottawa; was assistant manager with TD Bank for 24 years until his retirement in 2001; and volunteered on many boards and organizations in the community. The family will receive friends at the McConnell Funeral Home, Madoc, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
