Peacefully in hospital on Monday, April 22, 2002, Aline Lecompte, aged 78 years. Beloved wife of the late Stuart. Loving mother of Bill and his wife Julie and Kathleen and her husband Laval Germain. Predeceased by daughter Carol Gamble and son Gordon. Sister of Carmen. Over the past several years, Aline was an active member of the Ottawa West Senior Citizen Corporation, donating much of her time to a worthy organization. Age 61. Of Meadowvale, Nova Scotia. Died peacefully in her sleep at home on April 22, 2002 with her husband at her side. The daughter of the late Joseph Borkovich and Anna Popovich. Joan was born in Ottawa, Ontario. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara, age 12. Joan attended Billings Bridge and Hopewell Avenue Public Schools and Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa and worked for Met Life prior to raising her family. Later she entered the federal civil service with the Department of National Defence. On retirement, Joan and Brad moved to the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia where they commenced the project of renovating their century home. Joan was very active in community affairs, as a member of the executive for Three Rivers Community Centre, a volunteer for the Apple Blossom Festival, the Clean Annapolis River Project, the Middleton Hospital Auxiliary, the Kingston Hospital Auxiliary and was known affectionately as "the muffin lady" who arranged the coffee parties for many years at the Kingston Fire Hall. In addition to her volunteer service, Joan created time and energy to host six exchange students providing a family atmosphere for those away from home. Joan was the recipient of the provincial and county awards for volunteer service. She had an encyclopaedic knowledge of gardening, cooking and sewing and was also an accomplished story teller, a great listener and extremely passionate about the environment around her. Surviving are her husband Brad, son Dean (Lynda) Moore, Prince Rupert, B.C.; daughter Victoria (John Richard), Ottawa, Ontario; stepdaughter Susan (Curt Lariviere), Kingston, Ontario; stepson Michael, Toronto, Ontario; sisters Blanche Borkovich, Ottawa, Ontario; Miriam (Frank McManus), Nepean, Ontario; brother John Borkovich (Gail Christie), Yellowknife, NWT; grandchildren Holly, Amy, Terri-Dawn, all of Prince Rupert, B.C.; Jessica, Steven and Travis, all of Ottawa; Ryan and Caitlyn both of Kingston, Ontario. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Warren T. R.N. (retired) Etta passed away peacefully, at Carleton Lodge on the evening of April 19, 2002, at the age of 87. Predeceased by parents Harry and Elizabeth Forester, sister Phoebe Knox, and husband Lorne. Will be lovingly remembered by her son William, his wife Krystyna and grandchildren Julian and Kyla James of North Gower, nieces Carol Johns, Elizabeth Knox and nephew Ronnie James. Etta was born in Paisley, Scotland August 22, 1914 and went on to nurse in Scotland, England and Canada after arriving here as a war bride. She loved her nursing career, which spanned from being a midwife, and a war nursing sister, to being the first nurse trained for dialysis care in Ottawa. Etta dearly loved her family, and was fortunate to have had many lifelong friends from Red Pine Boys' Camp, St. Paul's Eastern United Church and Bethel Pentecostal Church. Her faith in Our Lord was ever present, even in the later years while suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Greatly appreciated is the wonderful care from the Carleton Lodge staff, Bradson Home Care (Myrna in particular) and family friend Roseann Farrell. No visitation, by request. A private interment was held at Capital Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Church at a later date in May. Arrangements by Ottawa Cremation Service. BONCZAK, Anna (nee Halaschiak) In loving memory of Anna Bonczak (nee Halaschiak), 88 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Saturday morning, April 20th, 2002 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Memorial Site. Anna was born in Poland. A longtime Sudbury resident, Anna had done custodial work at local offices and businesses. She was a very devout Roman Catholic attending St. Casimir’s Church and belonging to the Ladies Auxiliary at the parish. She was a member of the Polish Combatant’s Ladies Auxiliary. A faithful member of the Cardio Rehab Group at the Sudbury Arena, she also had participated in the English lessons by the Sudbury Multicultural Association. She enjoyed gardening and she was an excellent cook. She will be remembered as a generous and trustworthy person who was always quick to help others. Anna was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She lived the lessons of Jesus on a daily basis with love for family and friends. Beloved wife of Paul Bonczak predeceased 1975. Loving mother of Gary (wife Mary Somes) of Peterborough, Adam (wife Shirley) of Sudbury and Stefan predeceased. Cherished grandmother of Sheena and Kayla. Paul LaPierre of High River, Alberta (former resident of Pembroke, Ontario) passed away in an automobile accident on April 17, 2002 at the age of 49 years. He is survived by his wife June, daughter Tracey Anne, son Marshall Curtis Leigh (and granddaughter Madeson) LaPierre. Paul is also survived by his former wife Lorraine LaPierre. He is also survived by his father Oscar LaPierre (Pat); his mother Ann (LaPierre) Pohl (Klaus); his brother Arthur Hawk (Desiree); sister Denise LaPierre; and brother Curtis LaPierre (Teresa). He is also survived by seven nephews, one niece, and many aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held in High River, AB at the Snodgrass Funeral Home on April 20, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Institute for the Blind would be greatly appreciated. HAUCK, Elfriede (nee Nicolai) 1913-2002 - In loving memory of Elfriede Hauck who passed away at the North Bay General Hospital, Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the age of 89.
