Loving father of Colleen and Joseph (Nathalie). Son of the late Peter and Mary McPolin. Brother of Denis, Peter, Frances (Connelly) and the late Margaret (O'Hare). Son-in-law of the late Eleanore and Ed Pritchard. Dear brother-in-law of Nora (late Bruce Veitch), Ted and Dorelle Pritchard, Anne Pritchard, June and Bruce Barker, Paul and Wendy Pritchard, Joe Pritchard, Mike and Jackie Pritchard, and Pat and Cindy Pritchard. He will be sorely missed by his Irish cousins and many nieces and nephews. Owen was born in Willowdale, Ontario and attended St. Michael's College School. JOSEPH ALEXANDER "JOE" MCKELVIE Joseph Alexander “Joe” McKelvie, 79, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Saturday, March 23, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital. He was born Nov. 25, 1922 in Fort Frances. Joe had lived all his life in Fort Frances. He had worked at the local paper mill and was the fire marshal there until he retired. He was a veteran of World War II, having served overseas with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 in Fort Frances. He also enjoyed watching hockey, and was very active in minor hockey in the district. His passion was his family. Joe was united in marriage Aug. 24, 1949 to Irene McCaig, who survives along with their four children, Ellen (John) Reid of Mississauga, Ont., Jackie (Randy) Mosley of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and their daughters, Nicole Mosley and Tanya (Sean) Gagnon and their daughter, Jalen, Rick (Vicky) McKelvie of New Brighton, Mn., and their sons, Ryan, Chris, and Zach, and Sheri (Kurt) Thornton of Surrey, B.C., and their children, Austin and Emma. Also surviving is his brother, Ernie McKelvie of Fort Frances, Ont.; sister-in-law, Sylvia McKelvie; brothers-in-law, Carl Shabatura, Dave (Barbara) McCaig, and Doug (Joanne) McCaig; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Stella McKelvie; brother, Walter; and sister, Ailene Shabatura. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fort Frances, with Rev. Marion McCreadie officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 “Colour Party” will perform their Legion Tribute following the service. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Surviving are daughters, Marion (Henry) Wenting, Whitehorse, YK; Helen Gamble, Perth, ON; sons Donald (Betty), Northport; George (Susan), Hubley, NS; brother Leonard Heroux, Eriksdale, MB; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Percy and the late Bea, Sophie and Irving Burg, Avie and Ralph Shwartz, Irving, the late Saul and the late Sylvia, the late Simon and the late Laura, the late Jackie and the late Flo, Ben and the late Laura Eisenwasser, Morris and Ruth Miller. He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to the Palliative care staff at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Peacefully at home in Stittsville, on Thursday, March 21, 2002, Eldon Eugene Fiegenwald, in his 74th year. Cherished brother of Edward Earl and his wife Connie. Much loved uncle of Leslie, Ian (Claire), Fraser (Jacinthe) and Lori (David). Beloved great uncle of David, Brian, Krista and Ryan. Will be sadly missed by his good neighbours and his many friends at the Royal Canadian Legion, Montgomery Branch 351.
