Cecile-Marie Pepin (nee: Lachance) , of Hearst Death: March 15th, 2002 Hearst resident Cécile-Marie (née Lachance) Pepin, 69, of 48 St. Laurent St. died March 15, 2002 at Notre-Dame Hospital following an illness. Born May 24, 1932 in Hallébourg, east of Hearst, she was described by family as generous, concerned about her children, a woman of great faith with 'une joie de vivre'. A member of the Club soleil des aîné-e-s seniors club, she enjoyed playing cards, carpet bowling, knitting and crocheting, crafts, gardening, reading the Bible, camping and fishing. Predeceased by parents Alma and Ligouri Lachance as well as brothers and sisters, she leaves: her husband Omer Pepin of Hearst; sons Roger of Niagara Falls, and Jean-Guy (Nicole) and Alain (Chantal) Pepin, all of Hearst; and daughters Denise (Jean-Louis) Brisson and Hélène (Paul) Blanchette, all of Hearst, Lucie (Marcel) Gilbert of Amos, Que., and Aline (Michel) Moreau of Madison, Wisconsin. Also surviving are sisters Laurentia Hébert and Bernadette Sigouin, both of Hearst, Dolorès Latulipe of Pine River, Manitoba, and Jeanine Bureau of Jogues, brothers Romuald of Hearst and Laurent Lachance of Val Côté, and seven granddaughters and six grandsons. Pastor Gérard Jolin is to officiate the March 30 memorial service at the Christian Assembly chapel. Cremation was done at Hillcrest Crematorium in Matheson. A memorial service for retired Hearst Ministry of Natural Resource ranger Éloi Bégin, 80, of 11 Tenth St. was held Feb. 26, 2002. He died Feb. 20 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Dec. 28, 1921 in St-Évariste, Quebec, he came to the rural Ryland area west of Hearst at age three. He worked for the Canadian National for 13 years and then 37 years for the ministry. As a ranger, he pioneered what is now Nagagamisis Provincial Park north of Hornepayne and helped develop Fushimi Lake Provincial Park northwest of Hearst. He retired in 1983. A member of the Hearst Knights of Columbus and Club soleil des aîné-e-s seniors club, he enjoyed fishing (one catch included a 10-pound lake trout), playing cards, cars, home repairs and, before his illness, going for coffee at John's Restaurant. Family described him as sociable, quiet and patient. He was predeceased by parents Marie-Rose and Hilaire Bégin, his sister Rachelle Lemaire of Hearst and brothers Patrice of Toronto and Léonard Bégin of Hearst. He leaves his wife Gisèle (née Roy) of Hearst, daughters Thérèse Bégin of Ottawa and Ginette (Ralph) Duperrault of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and sons André (Trudy) of Barrie and Raymond (Sylvie) Bégin of Hearst. Also surviving are his sister Céline (Roland) Doucet of Hearst, brothers Aimé (Noëlla) of Toronto, Lionel of North Bay, Évariste (Margaret Paradis) and Jos (Irène Poulin), both of Hearst, and Évangeliste Bégin of Winnipeg, as well as four granddaughters and two grandsons, and three great grandchildren. Cremation was done at Hillcrest Crematorium in Matheson. Rev. Rémi Lessard officiated the morning service at the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment will be at the Monseigneur Grenier Cemetery.

Jacques Boucher Sr., 2 Kimberly, Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on March 14, 2002. He was 79 years old. Mr. Boucher was born Dec. 6, 1922 in St. Mathieu de Beloeil, Quebec. He was the shop foreman at Val Albert Motors. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading. Mr. Boucher was predeceased by sister Annette and brothers Jean-Paul and Viateur. He is survived by wife Huguette; sons Jacques (Pauline), Robert (Lyne) and Jason (Tammy), all of Kap, Michel of Lasalle and Jean-Pierre (Mariette) of Longueuil; and daughters Claire Boucher (Pierre) of Montreal, Yvonne (Drolet) Baptiste of Val Coté, Danielle Boucher of Longueuil, Lynn (Marc) Sonier of Niagara Falls and Chantal Boucher of Kap. Also surviving are sisters Antoinette Boucher, Pierrette Chartrand and Thérèse Mandeville, all of Montreal and brothers Louis-Philippe of Kap and André of Ottawa. Mr. Boucher had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rev. Louis-Philippe Bélanger directed the funeral service at Notre Dame des Victoires. Mr. Boucher will be interred at the Kapuskasing cemetery.

Passed away Sunday, March 3, 2002 in Port Charlotte, Florida. Vic was born on June 16, 1923 in Kenmore, Ontario. He received his PhD from MacDonald College, McGill University and worked as a Plant Pathologist at the Experimental Farm in Ottawa. Following his retirement from the Federal Government he pursued a life-long interest in automobile collection, restoration and sales. Victor will be sadly missed by his family and close friends. PAMELA PERRAULT In loving memory of Pamela Perrault, 34, who passed away suddenly Sunday, March 17, 2002 at her home in Couchiching First Nation. Pam was born March 8, 1968 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Valentine and Eleanor Perrault. She spent most of her life in the Rainy River area. She enjoyed spending time with her children, family, and friends. She also enjoyed taking walks, playing cards, playing Bingo, and cooking, and she loved to help others. She lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed. Pam will be greatly missed by her children, Hilary Morrisseau, Heather Morrisseau, Shelby Mc-Donald, and Michael McDonald; grandchild, Cailynn Bruyere; and parents, Eleanor and Valentine Perrault. She enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially knitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, quilting with the Edith Clelland group at Westboro United Church where she was a member, and the association of good friends in the Rosemont Rebekah Lodge No. 164 and Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association Camp Argyle No. 26. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert and cherished son Raymond, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. At the young age of forty-nine, he left us suddenly on Friday, March 15, 2002, while visiting family in Montreal. A great loss to all who know him, he is survived by his loving wife Shelly and sons Jonathan, Bram and Jamie. Beloved son of the late Joseph and Sarah Davine of Montreal, and devoted son-in-law of Nat and Rivy Nosov of Toronto. Brother and brother-in-law of Jessie and Harry Abramovitch; Libby and Leonard Slutsky; Steven and Frayda Davine; Susan Nosov and Pierre Dussault; and Jody and Howard Weintraub. A caring and respected uncle to many nieces and nephews who will miss him so dearly. A fun hockey coach and a loyal friend, he will be fondly remembered for his unique personality and zest for life. Was born on March 3, 1929 in Montreal. He died after a courageous battle with cancer in the presence of his family in the early morning of March 18, 2002.
