1929 - 2001 Dans le calme de sa résidence, entouré de l’amour des siens et de ses livres, le 14 décembre 2001, est décédé le Dr Camille Gosselin, chirurgien, amateur d’histoire et époux de dame Lucie Poulin. Il demeurait à Sainte-Foy. Il a pratiqué la chirurgie à l’hôpital Saint-François d’Assise. Il était professeur émérite à l’Université Laval, président de la Société québécoise d’histoire de la médecine, grand chevalier des vins de Sainte-Foy de Bordeaux et médaillé d’or de la Renaissance Française. La famille recevra les condoléances au funérarium Lépine Cloutier Ltée 1025, rte de l’Église Sainte-Foy mardi de 14h à 17h, et de 19h à 22h. Le service religieux sera célébré le mercredi 19 décembre à 14h en l’église Saint-Yves, 2470, Triquet, Sainte-Foy, où la famille recevra les condoléances une heure avant la cérémonie. Peacefully, on Sunday, December 16th, 2001 after a short fight with leukemia. Beloved wife of the late Myroslaw (1993). Loving mother of Peter, Lesia, Michael and Christine. Mother-in-law to Lydia Migus, Michael Joyce, Angie Kolomycky and Matt Rohde. Devoted grandmother to Alexa, Alexander, Liam, Luba, Magdalena, Myllana, Nicola, Olenka, Vanessa, Yarema and Zirka. Predeceased by her sisters Darka and Katrusha and survived by sisters Hania (Fonthill, Ont.), Ivanka (Lviv, Ukraine) and Lydia (Lincolnton, NC) and brother Karol (Berezno, Ukraine). Maria was born on August 18, 1924 to Mykhailo and Kateryna (nee Koretsky) in Stylsko Dubrova, western Ukraine. On March 14, 1942 she was conscripted to serve as a housekeeper for Fraulein Winkler, near Kolberg. In 1945 she escaped from the encroaching Soviet army to western Germany. She met her sister Hania in the Ashaffenberg displacement camp and eventually made her way to Halifax on the SS Merlin, landing on May 28, 1948. Maria arrived in Ottawa by train on June 6th where she worked for Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence for many years, joining the growing Ukrainian community and married Myroslaw on February 20, 1949. A retired Civic Hospital employee, Maria dedicated her life to her family, who could be found at her house for lunch most Sundays enjoying over-cooked roast beef. Sincere thanks to Doctors Buczek, Lacroix and Akbari and the fifth floor staff at the General. Friends may call at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 235 Kent Street, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Panachyda will be at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2001 in her sixty-seventh year. August 5, 1919 - December 15, 2001. It is with deep sorrow that his family announces the passing of this fine, sweet man. Jack was greatly loved by his wife Vera Fawcett and his children Gary (Anna), Kathryn (Don Richards), Douglas (Julie Latreille), and Peter (Janice). He was the cherished Grandpa of Christine, Michael, Robbie, and Jennifer Blake, of Ariel and Noelle Richards, of Arianne and Eric Latreille-Blake, and step-granddad of Chris and Tasha Myles. He also leaves his devoted sisters, Lillian Foyston and Dorothy Cameron, as well as many nieces and nephews to whom he was a favourite uncle. Slipped away quietly early Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Jeanne Barkley, he will be greatly missed by his daughters, Judianne and Elizabeth, and fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Holly and Alex. His indomitable spirit, faith and love of life kept him alive through a long struggle with lupus. He was loved and supported throughout by his family who miss him terribly. At the Elisabeth Bruyere Center, Ottawa, at age 98 on December 13, 2001. Formerly of Nova Scotia, she was predeceased by her husband Edwin, daughter Daphne and son-in-law Paul Brick. She is survived by one son Donald and his wife Lillian of Western Shore, N.S. and one daughter Olive Hansen of Ottawa. Nine grandchildren Maren (Gary O'bright), Edwin (Mireille Cyr), Donna Larocque (Camille) of the Ottawa area, Kirsten Hansen and Pauline DeLory (Steven) of the U.S., Debra Beveridge (Julian), John (Darlene), Douglas, and Peter Brick (Donna) of N.S. Also survived by eleven great-grandchildren. Interment of ashes will be in N.S. at a later date from St. Marks Anglican church, Martins Point.
