Jean was well known for her political endeavors at all levels of government. Noteworthy was her term as Mayor of West Hull (Chelsea), 1968-72. According to records, she was the first woman Mayor elected in Quebec. Commencing in 1964, for 12 years, Jean was co-manager of the Moorside Tea Room in Kingsmere. An accomplished landscaped artist, Jean spent much of her later life travelling the world with Ross, putting brush to canvas to capture memories of faraway places. RCN, CAF, WWII Veteran At the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre in Ottawa, on Monday, December 10, 2001, of cancer, at the age of 76 years. Son of the late E.S. and Ena Fox (Timacheff). Husband of Lillian (nee Theriault) and father of Karen (Chris Stubbs), Brian (Carme Fox) and Meagan. Grandpa of Andrew, Erin, and Jeffrey Fox. Alec was born in Duncan, B.C., March 14, 1925, and joined the Royal Roads Naval College in 1942. He served in HMCS Uganda in 1944 - 45, in the war against Japan, followed by occupation duty. Post-war he became a Naval fighter pilot and flew off HMCS Magnificent and Bonaventure. He was an Empire Test Pilot, introduced jet aircraft and the Sidewinder guided missile to the RCN, and flew on the Grey Ghosts aerobatic team. He commanded destroyers HMCS Athabaskan and Columbia and was Executive Officer of HMCS Bonaventure. He retired in 1980 as a Col. (Pilot), Base Commander CFB Cornwallis, followed by 11 years as a Capt. (N) on the Convoy Commodore list in the Naval Supplementary Reserve, while consulting, then as a manager at Saint John Shipbuilding, Ltd. Predeceased by his older brother John; Alec is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Randell (John), brothers-in-law Lovitt and Clark Theriault, sisters-in-law Rosalind Baxter, Marilyn Banks, Joan Fox and their many offspring. M.A. (Edin.) (nee Malcolmson. 3 Sept., 1918 - 9 Dec., 2001. Beloved wife of Beverly Baily, widow of F.O. Calvin C. Read R.C.A.F. Dearest mother of Barbara Malcolmson Baily of Montreal West and Christopher Dane Baily (Beverley) of Toronto. Granny and Omi to Heather, Alexandrea (the wee "A"), Devon, Jordie and Brooke. Predeceased by her twin sister Muriel and younger sister Sis. Always loved and remembered by her sister Lorna of Falkirk, Scotland. Mums was an ardent supporter of, and volunteer at, the Pettes Memorial Library in Knowlton and the former Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She was also for many years a passionate golfer at Kanawake and curler with the Montreal West and Royal Montreal Curling Clubs. Cremation has already taken place. Her ashes will be interred in Shetland, Scotland, beside the memorial to her father, Captain Lawrence Malcolmson, of the Merchant Navy, who went down with his torpedoed ship in March 1945. In Ottawa on Sunday, December 9th, 2001, at age 60. Daughter of the late Hon. Roland A. Ritchie, C.C., and Mary Ritchie (nee Wilde). Dear niece of the late Charles S. A. Ritchie and Sylvia Ritchie. Elizabeth was born in Halifax and educated at the Halifax Ladies College, McGill University, Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and completed her doctorate in Paris. Her life-long love of art led to a career as an Art History teacher at Ottawa University. She is survived by Nancy Carscallen and her sons Almon and William (his wife Elizabeth) and daughters Mary and Laleah and seven young cousins. Also survived by Jim and Cathy Smellie and their son and daughter; Elizabeth's companion Brian Huggins; and her friend and protege Mederic Borgeaud. She was also greatly loved and cherished by her exceptionally-wide circle of friends across North America and Europe. Through her post-graduate studies in France arose a unique community of friends in Paris, headed by Prof. Jean-Pierre Darmon. She will also be missed by her many friends in Chester, Nova Scotia. Elizabeth was a humanitarian who will be remembered for her loving and understanding nature, her loyalty and generosity of spirit. Robert Ken McKean April 21, 1942 - December 10, 2001 Passed away suddenly at home on Monday, December 10, 2001 in is 60th year. Will be sadly missed by his beloved friend of 23 years Margaret Orr, his daughter Kelly Ann Brodhurst, Deborah McKean and his son John and his wife Rhonda. Also survived by his sister Cheryl Ann and her husband Richard Perras, son-in-law Chris Brodhurst, his three grandchildren Amanda, Alex and Cassidy and his 9 step children, 16 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Ken was an employee of General Motors- Engine Plant for 38 years and retired May 2001. Friends will be received a the Patrick J. RONALD (RON) W. MARTIN Ronald (Ron) W. Martin passed away peacefully in Winnipeg, Man. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001. He was born in McIrvine Township, Ont., in 1918. He had lived in various parts of Canada, including Sioux Lookout, Kenora, Calgary, Thunder Bay, and most recently Winnipeg. Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge #668 of Atikokan. Predeceased by his wife, Mary-Lou in 1989, Ron is survived by his wife, Eileen (Jack) of Winnipeg and his former first wife of 26 years, Geraldeane Mallory of Calgary. He also is survived by daughter, Tannis (Frank) Reinhardt of Windsor, N.S. and son, Lynn (Dawna) of Calgary; three stepsons, Gary Assels of Ear Falls, Ont., Brian (Lil) Assels of Adelaide, Australia, and Marty Anderson of Swan River, Man.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Stan) McLaren of Winni-peg, Man.; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place in Winnipeg, with a celebration of life to be held in Atikokan in May, 2002. In lieu of flowers, Ron requested donations be made to the Salvation Army Memorial Fund, P.O. Suddenly in hospital on December 9, 2001 at the age of 78. Beloved husband and best friend for 48 years of Nancy Goldenberg. Loving father of Janice (the late Howard Spungin), Brian (Diana Love) and Evan. Proud Zaidie of Jonah. Cherished brother of Morton (Sylvia) and Rozlyn (Norman Gould). Adored uncle of many nieces and nephews. Larry was a member of the Real Estate Board of Ottawa-Carleton for over 40 years, President of Mint Realty Ltd. and a member of the first Commerce graduating class of Carleton University. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue. Interment Jewish Community Cemetery, Bank Street, Ottawa. Selon ses volontés, elle ne sera pas exposée.
