1917 - 2001. Peacefully, and with the dignity he had in life, Tom passed away in his sleep on June 25, 2001 at the age of eighty-three. Tom leaves his wife, partner and best friend for over 60 years, Elizabeth, his sons Gordon (Valerie) of Chateauguay and Glen of Mississauga, Ont. Tom will also be sadly missed by his granddaughters Kimberly (Chad) Williams, Shauna Corcoran and his great-grandson Cameron Thomas Williams. ORISE MARGUERITE LANGLAIS In loving memory of Orise Marguerite Langlais, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at the age of 70. Orise was born March 31, 1931 in Pinewood, Ont. She married Leo Langlais on April 19, 1949. Orise is survived by her husband, Leo Langlais; mother, Valeda Larocque of Pinewood, Ont.; and children, Leona (Rick) Mandryk of Thunder Bay, Ont., Claude (Diana) Langlais, Daniel (Anne) Langlais, Richard (Marg) Langlais, Janice Langlais, Colleen (Doug) Skomoroh, Micheal (Cathy) Langlais, Paul (Sandra) Langlais, Guy (Wendy) Langlais, and Leo (Tracy) Langlais of Dryden, Ont. Also surviving are 24 granchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Theresa Tyhy of Red Deer, Alta., Philip Larocque (Marg) of Rainy River, Ont., Elise Boyda (Frank) of Atikokan, Ont., Hubert Larocque (Marg) of Thompson, Man., and Yvette Lauzon (Philip) of Fort Frances, Ont. Orise was predeceased by her father, Leonide Larocque; son, Jerry Langlais; son-in-law, Ken McDougald; and grandsons, Michael McDougald and Ryan Mandryk. Orise was employed by the Town of Dryden Parks Board, retiring in 1996. Orise’s greatest and proudest accomplishment was her large family. She was a very special person who had an interest in all her family affairs. She also was a very talented and artistic person who loved to spend any spare time doing her many hobbies. These included painting, pottery, quilting, and knitting, and she especially loved to refinish antique furniture. Orise had a very special bond with her eight daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law. She will be very sadly missed by her two best friends, Irene and Leona. Our hearts are broken and she will be so missed by all. Visitation was held Thursday, June 21, 2001 from 2-8 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home, Dryden, Ont., with prayers being held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services were held Friday, June 22, 2001 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Dryden, with Father Luigi Filippini oOfficiating. Interment in the Dryden Cemetery followed. Daughter of the late Leon de Bellefeuille and the late Valentine Desabrais, she was the wife of the late Damase Racette and the mother of Louis-Andre (deceased at an early age), Andre (Madeleine Poirier), Marcel and Camille (Roxanne Nelligan). She also leaves in bereavement her beloved grandchildren, Janie, Martine, Isabelle and Nicolas, her brothers Jean and Yves, and her sisters, Anne-Marie Lafrance, Agnes Campbell, Lucile Cecyre and Gisele Pastien, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brothers Conrad and Roger and her sisters Dolores Leduc, Monique Roy and Rachel. Her children want to express their sincere appreciation to the personnel of Heritage Manor for the quality of care she received. Their mother was very fond of her friends at Heritage Manor, and at 800 St-Laurent Boulevard where she lived previously, and in Limoges, her native town. ARLINE MacDONALD Arline MacDonald, 64, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, June 24, 2001 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. She was born in Kirkland Lake, Ont. Arline was predeceased by her husband, Buddy Nelson; father, Roy Robinson; mother, Agnus Rind; stepfather, John Rind; and brother, Malcolm Robinson. She will be lovingly remembered by her special friend, Harvey Parent, and her six children, son, Rick and wife, Terry, of Thunder Bay, Ont., daughters, Shelly MacDonald and special friend, Gary, of British Columbia, Debbie and husband, Shane Svoboda, of Fort Frances, Ont., Donna MacDonald and fiancé, Joe, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Kathy MacDonald and special friend, Tim, of British Columbia, and son, John VanNus and special friend, Melinda, of British Columbia. Also surviving are sisters, Jerry of British Columbia, Helen (Emil) of Vermilion Bay, Ont., and Margaret (Jerry); and one brother, Bob (Rita). Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Amber, Kyle, Leslie, Jennifer, LeeAnn, Nathan, Tara, Justin, Nicole, Danielle, John, Kim, Ryan, Amber, and Brandon. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Peacefully, in hospital, on Saturday June 23, 2001, just short of his 91st birthday. Chairman of Shenkman Corporation until his death, he was a visionary in real estate development, a philanthropist, collector, world traveller and father. Born and raised in Ottawa he was educated at Lisgar Collegiate and McGill University. Following in his father's footsteps he began his career building downtown apartments and soon moved into major commercial, industrial and land development projects throughout the region, Canada, the United States and Europe. He is survived by his longtime loving companion Louise Poepplau and her family. He will be sadly missed by his children Dasha, William (Maureen) and granddaughter Rachel. Also survived by his sister Sadie Burwick and nephew Stanley Shenkman. Predeceased by his brother Samuel.
