Most fondly, Jim will be remembered for his years worked at the Canadian Police College pool. Jim's interest in physical fitness kept him busy swimming, golfing, skiing and weight lifting. Predeceased by her husband Richard Hyslop and by her parents William and Cora (Salter) MacPhie. Cherished mother of Susan (David) Stokes. Dear sister of Velma (Robert) Kitchener and Bill MacPhie (Dorothy). Fond niece of Iva and Lloyd Roadhouse, sister-in-law and dear friend of Betty Hyslop and family. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. (Lennox Antiques) Peacefully at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 in her 79th year. Mary Alice Lennox, daughter of the late Lawrence James and Madeleine Margaret Linton. For 54 years the beloved wife of Donald Haughton Lennox. Dear mother of David Michael Lennox (Elizabeth O'Brien) of Calgary and of Patricia Anne "Patti" Lennox (David Mattey) of Carleton Place. Proud grandmother of Michelle, Patrick and Allison Lennox of Calgary and Ryan, Sarah, Trevor, Llewellyn and Rachel Mattey of Carleton Place. Also leaving behind her sister Jean of Toronto. She was predeceased by sisters Audrey Alison (Ron) of Orillia and Marjorie "Marnie" McCloskey (Larry) of Guelph and by brother Bill (Dorothy) of Hamilton. Mary enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Prior to marriage and for some years thereafter she sang professionally and was a guest artist on several coast-to-coast CBC broadcasts. She became a featured regular on the weekly musical show, McCready's Mansions, and also had her own show, A Song in the Night with Lynda White. As a mother she took a deep interest in her children's education, serving simultaneously as president of two Edmonton home and school associations and reorganizing a school library. She still found time to serve as a president of a university gourmet club and as a volunteer with the Edmonton Citadel Theatre. When the family moved back to Ottawa she became interested in antiques and in quick order graduated from enthusiastic amateur to knowledgeable professional with her own store and many appearances at local antique shows. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her, in particular by her longtime friend Fran Potts and by Jim McCloskey, a very special nephew. LAWRENCE JOHN (LARRY) ROSE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Rose on Friday, May 11, 2001 at Lake of the Woods doing what he loved. Larry was born Nov. 26, 1946 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Jack and Olga Rose. He was united in marriage to Kathy Quigley on June 9, 1978. Larry loved the outdoors, working as a guide for Reel-Em-Inn Lodge during fishing and hunting season, then construction during the winter months. In the evenings, at camp, he loved playing cribbage with Vic. He enjoyed his time spent with his children and loved to take them up to camp, sharing his love of the outdoors with them. He will be greatly missed by his beloved companion, Chico. Larry leaves behind his wife, Kathy, and two children, Patty and Mike, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; brothers, Ed and wife, Valorie, Mervyn and wife, Laurie Jean, and Jim and wife, Charlotte, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; and sisters, Linda and husband, Dave Starling, of Fort Frances, Ont., Kathy and special friend, Arnie Johnson, of Crozier, Ont., and Maureen and Carol Rose of Burriss, Ont. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Selina Quigley of Gilbert Plains, Man.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Serre of Trenton, Ont., and Joyce and husband, Ray Serre, of Yugoslavia, and Debbie and husband, Al Arndt, of Calgary, Alta.; brother-in-law, Owen and wife, Cathy, of Calgary, Alta.; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and his best friend, Vic Beckel and his wife, Jeri.
