My O So Tis I recall the blue bells so well and how when you'd mown the long lawn only a day before, they rose as though a wizard's wand had been waved over the mulch in the night. Some wizard you'd suppose, who was too fond of blue bells to have them rot in the ground solely to push up more of the green lawn. (Or should we say it's just the way of things?) Blue bells I mean, spread wider for being mown than if they'd not been touched by the blade. Standing in a glinting morning dew seeing so much of eyed blue on that field of green I was thinking maybe I'd pick a few (not so easy as you'll know if you try) or more than a few - enough say, when woven to make a sky of garland or cape. I dreamed of laying it upon you then and imagined how beautiful you'd be draped in blue bells. It is with great sadness that we announce that Evan Clifford Purdy slipped away peacefully while at CH de Papineau, Buckingham on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at the age of 67 years. He was predeceased by his father Robert Purdy and his sister Polly Smith. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Florence Purdy (nee Ivall) and sister Viola Arnold. He was a wonderful uncle to nieces and nephews and also to his great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his loss many family and friends. Arpad Gasparik December 24, 1932 - May 03, 2001 Funeral arrangements by Richmond Funeral Home Passed away at the Richmond Hospital on May 3rd, 2001 at the age of 68 years. MARY ELLEN DINN Mary Dinn, 71, of St. Thomas, Ont., passed away at her daughter’s home on Saturday, April 28, 2001 in St. Thomas, Ontario. She was born on Aug. 1, 1929 in Mount Carmel, Newfoundland to the late David and Sarah Power. Born and raised in Newfoundland, Mary was the youngest girl in a family of 13. She was united in marriage to John Dinn in September of 1949. They moved to Nestor Falls in 1980, where Mary started working for Ron and Doris Valliant at the Nestor Falls Motel. Sometime later she worked at Red Deer Lodge. She also worked for Peter and Joyce Albright at Muskie Bay Camp. Mary retired and continued living in Nestor Falls until she moved to London, Ontario two years ago. Mary loved to spend time with family and friends. She loved to knit and crochet. She looked forward to going to bingo, playing cards and she especially looked forward to going out with friends for coffee and lunch. Mary was an avid dart player. She had several trophies for her excellent playing. Mary will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her husband John Dinn on November 3, 1992; and her parents David and Sarah Power. Mary is survived by her three daughters; Ann and husband, Wayne Sandmoen of Nestor Falls, Ont., Caroline and fiancee Kevin Withenshaw of St. Thomas, Ont., and Jaqueline and husband, Tim Lemon of Bognor, Ont.; one son, Hubert Dinn and wife Victoria of Bonneyville, Alta., grandchildren Michael and wife Sonya of Ottawa, Ont.,. Eighty-two, husband of Dorothy (Willis) Bond, of Bathurst, New Brunswick, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 25, 2001 after a short illness. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late S. Benjamin and Cora (Niles) Bond. Besides his wife, the former Dorothy Willis, he is survived by two daughters, Cora Henderson (Douglas) of Cowansville, Quebec, Helen Hicks (Richard), of Belleisle Bay, N.B.; one brother George Bond (Beverly) of Medfield, Massachusetts, four grandchildren Annie Henderson, David Henderson (Nadine Beaudry), Steven Hicks (Jessica Black) and Heather Anderson (Eric); two great-grandchildren Liam Henderson and Heidi Anderson; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Tracy and three sisters: Helen Bond, Mary Hosking, and Lydia Tripp. Funeral was held at First United Church, Bathurst, N.B. on Friday, April 27, 2001. Selon sa volonté, elle a été incinérée et ses restes ont été confiés à la Maison Lépine-Cloutier Ltée qui assure la direction des funérailles. Family and friends mourn the death of Mrs. Beverly Ann Crockett of Oromocto, New Brunswick, who, following a four-year battle with cancer, passed away in her home on April 30, 2001. The daughter of Robert and Laura Frail of Westfield, Nova Scotia, Bev, born on September 24, 1953, survived by her mother, four sisters and four brothers. Bev married Art Crockett in 1977, a member of the RCMP, and with this organization, lived in Ponoka, Assumption and Fairview, Alberta; Coppermine and Gjoa Haven in the Northwest Territories; Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia and Ottawa, Ontario, before moving to New Brunswick. Bev is survived by her husband, their daughter Bogena (19 years) and their son Devin (18 years). Au monastère des Religieux du T.S. Sacrement de Québec, le 1er mai 2001, à l’âge de 89 ans, est décédé le frère Ovila Gilbert, religieux de la Congrégation du T.S. Sacrement. Il était le fils de Léger dit Gédéon Gilbert et d’Arthémise Boucher. Après une première expérience de vie religieuse chez les Cisterciens du S. Sacrement à Val d’Espoir en Gaspésie, expérience qui le laissa insatisfait, le frère entra dans la Communauté sacramentine où il fit profession le 14 septembre 1939. Beauceron authentique, le frère Gilbert était un homme à tout faire: électricité, construction, plomberie, chauffage. À ce titre, il servit Dieu et ses frères en trois communautés: Montréal 1939-52, Québec 1952-56 et Shawinigan 1956-94. Il parlait volontiers des problèmes techniques qu’il avait solutionnés. Mais il était surtout homme de foi et de piété solides. C’est ce sérieux chrétien qui l’avait amené à quitter les Cisterciens. Outre ses confrères, il laisse dans le deuil ses frères: Alphonse, Clément et Roland et ses soeurs Marie, Rose- Aimée et Armandine; ainsi que de nombreux neveux et nièces, cousins, cousines et amis. Les funérailles auront lieu le jeudi 3 mai à 14h, en l’église Saint- Sacrement de Québec. Selon ses volontés, elle a été confiée au crématorium. Viola Joy MacDonald (née Simmie) July 08, 1941 - April 28, 2001 Funeral arrangements by Richmond Funeral Home Born July 8, 1941 in Calgary, Alberta and passed away peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy and courageous battle with Cancer on April 28, 2001. Predeceased by her parents Theta Irene Simmie (nee Armey) and William Gilbert Simmie, son Lincoln Edward deBodt Rosenland, sister Greta Campbell and step-daughter Cathy MacDonald Woznow. Joy leaves to remember her, 7 children Ben, Rachel, Rebecca, Sage, Joshua, Jennifer and Jodi, her step-children Doug, Laura, Rob, David and Steven and 26 grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters Fern, Lois, Judy and June, her brother James and their families. Joy was an active member of her church, fulfilling many rolls over the years and had many, many friends in B.C. and Alberta. A Memorial Service will be held Friday May 4, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8840 Williams Road, Richmond, B.C.
