1964 - 2002 With the greatest sadness we must announce the sudden death this summer of Graham Winston Hancock, of apparently natural causes, at age 38. Graham's bereaved sister Rachel, and his parents Michael and Georgina, were joined July 13th by his beloved daughter Emmie, and her mother Helene, by Madeleine, his close companion of recent years, and by his brother-in-law Bill, together with friends, to pay personal tribute to his memory and to commit his body to the ground, at Capital Memorial Gardens near Manotick. Rachel and Bill's children, Bryce and Lindsay, remember with love their "Uncle Graham" for his Guitar, his Top Hat, and his Hot Wheels. In his heart, Graham remained close to his families in England, where he was born. He was always much loved by his grandparents, Winston and Celia (recently deceased) and Mrs. J. (Gran), now living in Sheffield, by his aunts, Molly and Pamela, Marjorie and Iris, his uncle Terry, and by cousins in Derbyshire and in the London area. Before coming to Canada in 1974, Graham spent his early childhood in North Carolina, and our friends there now also share this heartache. By his late teens, in Ottawa, Graham had become a fine guitarist, whose "High Society Blues Band" remains unforgettable to those who were part of it with him. Continuing to provide inspiration to others to take their music seriously, Graham would urge his students above all, as Kenneth Gifford reminded us at the funeral, to "PLAY IT LOUD"! Throughout his life, Graham struggled always to "be himself" and "as far as possible, without surrender, (to) be on good terms with all persons". He is best remembered, by the people who understood him, as a truly gentle soul who would be your friend for the sake of friendship alone. Our very sincere thanks, and especially to Kellie, to all those who continue to share with us their own sorrow in his early departure from our lives. SLEE, John (Jack) Wesley, After a long battle with diabetes, Jack passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in his 72nd year. He is survived by his seven children: Rick (Francine) of London, David (Robyn) of St. Catharines, Garry, Sonja Cain, Susan (Stew art) Brennand, Diane (Jim) Maves, and Cathy of Niagara Falls; 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother Robert and sister Donna (Jerry) Smolarski; and brother-in-law Lorang (Diane) Jorgensen. Jack will be sadly missed by Ruth Slee. He was p redeceased by his parents William Richard and Merle Slee, brothers Ralph and Harry (Peggy), and sister Geraldine and brother-in-law Chuck Rookley. Jack was a long-time employee of Kimberly-Clark in Niagara Falls and General Motors in St. Catharines. He also served for many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Stamford Centre Longhurst Street Firehall.
