AUBRY, Peter. 1949-2004. Flew away peacefully after a brief and intense battle against a merciless disease. He leaves behind his four beloved sisters, Christine, Linda, Susan, Louise, his nieces and nephews, Tania, Mathieu, Melissa, Daniel, Sarah, his brothers-in-law Gilles, Piere, Marc and all his friends who meant the world to him. He leaves to all of us unforgettable memories, an undeniable "Joie de Vivre" with total sincerity and intensity that no one could ever impersonate. We will never forget. BLUE, Margaret Paton (Nanny, Peg). Born July 26, 1912 in Lesmaghow, Scotland. Miss Blue (Nanny, Aunty Peg) devoted her life to the miracle of life and all its hopes and dreams. Nanny had a tremendous gift of connecting with each baby she took into her heart. An angel of great dignity, courage and tremendous generosity to all who had the pleasure to have known her, and be loved by her. Survived by her brother-in-law, Earle R. Clayson, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, her niece Debbie Hughes of Akron, Ohio, and her nephews Cameron and Corey Clayson, and Faye Lavigne, Special Aunt Peg (Bathurst, N.B.) to many other nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Canada. A very special Nanny to Gail Adelson, Robyn, Maurice and Nicole Schacter, and Sherri, Eric and Michael Peters. McDONALD, Joan Audrey (nee Penny). With great sadness the McDonald family mourns the death of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. At age seventy-one Joan passed away at McMaster Hospital in Hamilton after a very long and brave battle with Crohn's Disease. Lovingly remembered by Don, her husband of 47 years. Sadly missed by sons Stephen, his wife Karen; Brian, his wife Peggy and children Cameron and Jamie; Chris and partner Richard; daughter Penny and her husband John MacLean; sisters Barbara of Santa Rosa, CA, and Lorna of Westfield, NY. VACHON _Sherry Anne, age 36 years. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces her passing. Sherry was born May 16, 1968 in Wakaw, SK to Ben and Mary Nagy. Her growing years were spent fondly on the farm and she took her schooling in Wakaw. After high school, Sherry attended university attaining her Bachelor of Education majoring in Religious Studies, Math and French. After teaching for a short time, Sherry became a full time mother devoting her time to her family. Sherry's great love for her children was evident by anyone who witnessed her life. Her life on earth was Love in motion serving God, family and church. She was involved in children's liturgy, preparation for Baptisms, the Elizabethan Society and had a devotion to the Mission of Oblates. GRATTON, Raymond J, born April 4, 1958 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan is finally at peace following a long battle with liver disease. Ray is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 26 years, Linda Gratton (nee Mollan) of Vancouver; his loving family: Parents, Maurice and Evelyn Gratton; brother, Victor Gratton and sister, Linda McFaul (nephews Seamus, Brennan and Calin), all of North Battleford; sister, Laurie Saccucci (nephews Jessie and Justin), of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Ray was also a big part of his extended family, the Mollans, in North Battleford, from an early age. Ray had many other relatives and friends; we will all miss him dearly. Ray enjoyed nature; talking to birds and watching things grow. The neighborhood birds still come calling expecting Ray to call back to them. He was a great conversationalist and philosopher, and loved to make people laugh. Ray kept his wonderful sense of humor until the very end. His courage and strength have been an inspiration to all who've known him. A BBQ to celebrate Ray's life will be held at the #179 Legion Hall, 2205 Commercial Dr., Vancouver (upstairs) on Sunday, June 20, 2004 between 2:00pm and 6:00pm. All his friends are welcome. A family celebration and the spreading of his ashes will take place in August at North Battleford. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by the family towards a memorial bench for Ray overlooking Trout Lake.

She spent most of her life in Halifax. She was a kind, generous, loving person with a "heart of gold". She will be greatly missed by her husband and family. LENNY, Katherine "Kate" Linda (nee Belisle) 1972-2004 Katherine "Kate" Linda Lenny (nee Belisle) of Nanton, Alberta succumbed to injuries from a car accident at Nanton, Alberta on January 8th, 2004 at the age of 31 years. She is survived by her loving husband and fishing partner Greg Lenny of Nanton, her mother Linda Belisle (nee Popowich) of Sudbury and her brother Ralph Belisle of High River, AB. She was predeceased by her father Barry Belisle of Sudbury. Kate is also survived by her Aunt Joan Addison (husband Stan) of Skead, Uncle William Popowich (wife Jean) of Sudbury, Aunt Debbie Comish (husband John) of Sudbury, Uncle Mark Popowich (wife Corleen) of Walden and many cousins. Kate will also be sadly missed by her God-parents Linda Carry and William "Bill" Gregory, both of Sudbury. Kate was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. She graduated from Cambrian College in Sudbury with honors and scholarships for further studies in accounting. She received her Certificate for Certified General Accountant in September, 1999. She had worked for KPMG Chartered Accountants in Sudbury before moving to Calgary to complete her studies. Kate married the love of her life Greg Lenny on July 26th, 2003. She was working for Malmberg Muth and Co. in High River at the time of her death. Kate loved the outdoors (fishing and camping) and animals especially her two husky dogs, Jewels and Foxy. She will be sadly missed for her loving smile, strength of character and her dedication to her family, friends and co-workers. Funeral Service in the R.J. LAVIOLETTE, Gillian Mary It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gillian Laviolette in January of 2004. She leaves to cherish her memory her two loving children Jean-Michel and his wife Fiona and their child Alexandra, as well as daughter Katya and her husband Francois Morrison. Good friends also mourn the loss of their wonderful companion: Cynthia and Jack Fuller and Terry Usher, as well as many others here and in England. Gillian was born in Southport, England on February 20, 1947 and came to Edmonton with her two children in 1976. She had a gentle, loving and generous spirit that shone when she was at work as an intensive care unit nurse at the University of Alberta hospital and, particularly, as the proud parent of two exceptional children. An animal lover, Gillian loved the arts and was an avid outdoor enthusiast, often taking her bike out for hours at a stretch. KENNETH MAURICE CANTIN 1939 - 2004 Kenneth Maurice Albert Cantin, of McCreary MB, passed away January 10, 2004. "Maurice" was born in North Bay, ON, September 23, 1939, the 3rd son of Lionel and Edith Cantin. He was predeceased by his father in December, 1986 and is survived by his mother, with whom he had been living for the last eighteen years. He is also survived by two older brothers, Rob (Judi) in Los Angeles and John (Siegi) in Kamloops; two younger sisters, Katherine (John) Kaye in the Dugald area and Elizabeth (Gilles) Tardiff, in the Kemnay area and their respective families. Maurice took all his grade schooling in McCreary. He was a member of the Legion Band, the Boy Scouts and later Cadets. After high school he attended the Manitoba Technical Institute in Winnipeg taking courses in the food service industry. He worked as a cook in several towns in Manitoba, and in Winnipeg at the University of Manitoba and at the Hotel Fort Garry. When the pace of that work became too demanding, he worked for many years in the furniture industry. Maurice was a very conscientious worker, who rarely missed a day of work, using holiday time to book medical or dental appointments. Maurice had a life-long struggle with ill health since contracting and almost dying from Spinal Meningitis at a very young age. In spite of the damage caused by the illness, he lived life as fully as he was able and took great pride in doing the most thorough job of which he was capable. Following the death of his father and suffering ill health himself, he decided to retire from Winnipeg to McCreary, where he has been helping his mother run her household and garden. Maurice was well liked by every one who knew him. He was an avid reader, had read all of the Zane Grey novels and knew all of the remarkable stories by heart. While he was physically able, he attended Mass regularly at the Roman Catholic Church, where he had been an altar boy during his grade school days. He also had a keen interest in politics and world affairs, which he enjoyed discussing with his Dad. During his final struggle with the devastating effects of ALS, Maurice often expressed how much he missed his father who had been gone for over 17 years. Just as he stepped in to take his place then, he has now gone to join him, but not without great concern for the well being of his mother. Always a caring and considerate person, he will be missed by his family and community for whom he was an inspiration in his struggle to keep active and independent. Funeral Services will be held at the McCreary Catholic Church, Saturday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m., Rev Father Paul Tinguely presiding. In lieu of flowers, Maurice requested a Memorial Scholarship Fund in his memory. This fund will be used to provide scholarships for deserving students from the McCreary area and to assist with ALS research in the future. You are invited to contribute to the K. JAMES "JIM" MATTHEW HOULE It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Houle announces his sudden passing at Ebb & Flow, MB at the age of 66 years. Jim was born at Westbourne, MB on August 6, 1937. He married his wife Mary C. on August 6, 1960 and together they started their family life. Jim was employed in Thompson in the construction industry and after several years, he returned to Ebb & Flow to work with band housing projects. He also worked for C.N.R for a number of years until retirement and was also a bus driver for the Ebb & Flow School. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, trapping and cutting wood. He enjoyed watching hockey and baseball games with his friend David St. Paul. His grandchildren brought him much happiness and joy. He would take them out to eat and just enjoyed spending time with them. Jim had a great sense of humour. He was always laughing and joking. Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Vital and Maggie Houle; and his brothers, Gary Houle, Gordon Houle and John Gilbert. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 43 years Mary C; his children, Bradley of Ebb & Flow, Wanda (Ivan) Davis of Winnipeg, Shirley (Gerald) Hastings of Ebb & Flow, Brenda (Wayne) Berens of Winnipeg; along with his grandchildren, Pamela, Danielle, Linda, Jennifer, Jaylee, Dylan, Tori; and his special grandson Craig. GALLANT, J. TERRANCE - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Terrance Gallant, age 38, of Saint John, loving husband of Janet (Pike) Gallant. Born on September 17, 1965 in Saint John, Terry was the beloved son of Joseph and Theresa (McBride) Gallant. Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife; sadly Terry leaves behind his daughter Katie; his son Alex; his step-daughters Charlotte and Christine Chase, his sister Karen Gallant; his wife's parents, Donald and Jane Pike of Saint John; brothers Gary Burke and his wife Cora of Quispamsis, Ronald Burke of Saint John; sisters Diane MacKay and her husband Sydney of Sussex, Kim Lane and her husband Dan of Oregon; grandmother Irene Hulme of French Village; sisters-in-law Clara Burke and Linda Burke; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. Terry was predeceased by his brothers Robert Burke and Kevin Burke. Terry was a First Class Firefighter with the Saint John Fire Department for the past 16 years. He was a graduate of St. Malachy's Memorial High School and had attended the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton Campus. Terry was a recent bone marrow donor with the Canadian Bone Marrow Registry, as well as a platelets donor through Canadian Blood Services. He was a past member of the Y's Men organization and was a long time member of the YMCA, an avid athlete, involved with such sports as rugby, soccer and handball. Terry loved his family and his job and was keenly interested in carpentry, cooking, sports, travelling and was a helping hand to others. Visitation at CASTLE "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at St. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. AUCOIN (Desjardins), Florida "Florence" "Flo" - 1916-2004. Born in Magdalen Islands, daughter of the late William Desjardins and Marie Gaudet. Florida was an employee of Immigration Canada and the Department of National Defence, and a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Vimy Branch. A devoted mother and grandmother, who will be missed by her family and friends, she was a parishioner of St. Lawrence Parish, Fairview and a past member of St. Mary's Basilica. The family will always remember the love she showed with her two surviving sisters, Aldora and Donalda, as well as her love of life and her overwhelming generosity, especially the recipients of her delicious meat pies, egg rolls and biscuits. Florida is survived by her daughter, Annette Travis (Bill); son, Jude (Mary); daughter-in-law, Glenda; grandsons, Bill, Eric (Maggie), Daniel and fiancée Triena; granddaughters, Chrissie and Shauna; sisters, Aldora Broussard and Donalda Gaudet; several nieces and nephews. ALEXANDER, Lillian Grace (nee McCorkell) Peacefully, after a lengthy illness and with her friends by her side, Lillian Grace Alexander, just two months short of her 90th birthday. Loving wife of the late Joseph B. Alexander. Sister of the late Joan Margaret Blackwell and the late Lt. Col. E. Bruce McCorkell. Survived by her sister-in-law Kathleen McCorkell of Saskatoon, SK; nephews Dr. Robert McCorkell (Cathy) of Saskatoon, SK and Byron McCorkell (Cindy) of Kamloops, BC; and niece Dr. Barbara Blackwell of Ottawa, as well as grand-nieces Elizabeth, Saralyn, Brielle, Kaet and grand-nephew Duncan. A graduate of McMaster University with a specialty in History, Grace began her teaching career in Windsor, Ontario. After her wedding to Joe in 1945, they made their home in Ottawa, where Grace became head of the commercial department at Fisher Park High School, where she was well loved by her students. Always inseparable, Grace and Joe enjoyed an active social life on Island Park Drive, travelled extensively and they were long-time members of the Rivermead Golf Club and the Britannia Yacht Club. The family extends its appreciation to Dr. Walter Potoczny and Dr. Priscilla Bright for all their personalized care that permitted Grace to stay in the comfort of her own home. Sincere thanks to all her friends and neighbours, who visited her and helped over the last ten years and especially to all the caregivers who have cared for her in these last years. He took part in the Normandy Landing on D Day, June 1944 and served in Holland, Germany and France. Beloved husband of 58 years of Rita (nee Conrad). Son of the late Matthew and Rachael (Davidson) Valiquette. Loved father of Robert (Carole) of Orleans; Paul (Lynn) of North Augusta and Lynne of Ottawa. DeGEER, Hannah It is with tremendous sadness the family of Hannah Grace Stevens O'Brian DeGeer announce her passing. Hannah was born in Hawkesbury on May 29, 1909 to the late Donald and Louise O'Brian. She was an active member of the community and of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Hawkesbury for many years before she relocated to Ottawa. Here she spent her later years and was an eager participant of the Gloucester Senior Centre where she made many dear friends. Hannah was deeply loved and highly respected by her children. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter Vera Schutze and her husband George Lafayette DeGeer. Her children George (Mae) of Calgary, Peter of Ottawa, Donald (Joan) of Edmonton, Grace (Robert) Graham of Alliston, Mary (William Sloan) Smith of Blackburn Hamlet, Anna (Jerry) Manchur of Surrey, B.C., Ada (David) Simpson of Ottawa, Shirley (Bruce) Watson of Memphis Tn. and Dorothi (Luc) Vaillancourt of Belleville mourn her passing. As well, Hannah was treasured grandmother to Allan, Anna, Adrian, Patsy, Debbie, Shelley, Duane, Darren, Kathy, Kerry, Kelly, Colleen, Lianna, Andrea, Andrew, Janet, Cheryl, Brian, Philippe and Claude, and a great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family and was proud of all their accomplishments, loved to travel, read, and lived a full life surviving the hurdles over the years with remarkable grace and dignity. She had a wonderful sense of humour, loved baseball, competed at bowling in earlier years, and in various events at the Gloucester Seniors Centre and Laurier Manor. At Hannah's request there will be no visitation and no funeral service, but a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Hannah has suggested donations to Gloucester Senior Centre in appreciation (in her own words) of all the hands who have helped her.
