MOFFAT CLARKSON, Rose 1912 - 2009 At the Lachute Hospital, on November 1, 2009, at the age of ninety-seven, Rose Moffat passed away. Wife of the late Alexander Moffat, dear mother of Margaret (husband Roy), Robert (wife Marilyn) and loving grandmother of Lynda, Sharron, Robert, William and Michael. Also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, she will surely miss. SLONIMSKI, Agnes Born Agnieska Mazurek on September 21, 1922 in Poland and died October 30, 2009 in Ottawa. Agnes passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Jan (1982). Proud mother of Mary (Michael), Jean, Ann, and John (Karen). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer, Jessica, Savannah and Sierra and one great granddaughter, Arianna. EDGINGTON, Edna Edna's battle with liver cancer ended peacefully in her sleep with her son and caregiver Brian by her side. Edna was born and raised in Craven District, SK and was the eldest of four children. Predeceased by Edna is her husband Bill; son Kevin; parents Bill and Annie Tiefenbach. Left to mourn her loss are her loving sons Ken (Rose) of Winnipeg, MB, Robert of Baltimore, MD and Brian of Regina, SK; brothers Elmer (Eileen) Tiefenbach of Regina and Willy Tiefenbach of Regina; sisters Evelyn Gorius of Langley, BC. Edna was a multitalented woman, from playing guitar and singing on CKRM Radio when she was a young woman to raising and nurturing a family of four boys. Edna will be remembered and loved by all who knew her kind way and loving heart. Her loving hands prepared many good meals that were enjoyed by all. Her biggest ambition of becoming a nurse was never recognized; instead she married and poured her life into raising and maintaining a family often making personal sacrifices for the comfort and well being of her boys. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic for their kindness and understanding. At Edna's request there will be no service but a Celebration's of Edna's Life will take place at a later date. RICHTER After a long and debilitating struggle due to a stroke, our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma Anne Margaret Richter (nee Raaf) passed away on November 1, 2009 exactly twenty-four years after her husband Paul. PEARL ISABELLE RAE (nee Tripp) October 4, 1909 November 1, 2009 The family of Pearl Rae are saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Luther Special Care Home at the age of 100 years. Pearl was born October 4, 2009 in Dunfermline District, west of Saskatoon. She was one of eight children and attended school at Bridgeford and Asquith. She married Umphray Rae on July 17, 1930; they lived in Harwood district for 10 years, moving to Carlton, SK in 1940 and then to Saskatoon in 1957. Pearl resided in Borden Care Home, Borden, SK until August 2006 and finally in Luther Special Care Home. Pearl was predeceased by her husband Umphray October 4, 1962; her parents Sarah and Daniel Tripp; sister Edna, brothers Daniel, Bruce, Herb, David, and Bill. She is survived by daughter Joyce and her husband Harvey Welch; granddaughter Shannon Welch and her husband Jean-Francois Dionne, and great-grandchildren Nadeige and Torin, all of Saskatoon. She is also survived by Sister Hazel Haroldson; sistersin-law Velma and Vera Tripp and numerous nieces and nephews. Pearl was hard working as a clerk and cashier in various stores; working in food services at St. Andrews College and Lutheran Seminary until retiring. She was an immaculate housekeeper, a great seamstress and an ardent painter of landscapes in oil. Above all, Pearl was a fine gardener, delighting in her flower and vegetable garden. Many thanks to the staff at Borden Care Home and Luther Special Care Home for their loving care and patience and devoted kindness to the very end. Fred is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Donella Laura Baird and a large loving family - his eldest daughter Leah and her husband Greg Humphreys (Vernon, BC), their family - Jesse Humphreys and Erin MacNamara, and children Tuula and Marley (Cumberland, BC) and Caitlin and Neil Schwartz (Ottawa, ON); his eldest son Jamie Baird (Abbu Dhabi, UAE) and his son Sam (Victoria, BC). His youngest son Cecil Baird, and his wife Jill and their children Rachel Lynn and Carson Charles (Vancouver, BC); and his youngest daughter Emily Baird and her daughter Isley (Edmonton, AB). Fred is also survived by Alan and Pauline Baird (Revelstoke, BC), Arnold Baird and Gay Nichols (Antigua/Passmore, BC) and sisters Carolyn Sharon (Nanaimo, BC) and Voy Clay (Stockton, CA). Fred is predeceased by sister Francis Fraser and grandson Spencer Mantley. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers of Village by the Station in Penticton, BC, for the love and care they provided Fred for four years. COOPER Joan (nee Woods) Born on August 16, 1918 in Victoria, BC, Joan passed away on October 30 at the Richmond General Hospital, age 91. The youngest and last surviving of 8 children born to Archibald and Alice Woods. In 1974, Joan was predeceased by Jack Cooper her husband of 32 years. She is survived by her sons Ron (Linda) and Brad (Bev); her grandchildren Shannon (Jason), Mathew (Lori), Ryan (Janel), John (Marget), Brieanna (Steve), and Kimberly (Tim) and her great-grandchildren Tylar, Jaedan, Dylan, Madison, Caitlin, Daniel, Avery and Jackson. She will also be missed by friends at Applegreen Park where she has lived for the past 36 years; her sister-in-law and good friend Dorothy Corry; the Bennett/Androsoff family and her many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. You and the staff at RGH for their tender care over her last few days and Dr. Peter Quelch for his care over the past 30 years. A strong, healthy, independent woman her entire life, Joan possessed beauty both inside and out. She enjoyed golfing, bridge and happy hours. GILL Carling Yuk Chun (nee Lam) May 5, 1939 - October 27, 2009 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and friend to many, Carling Gill on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Carling was born May 5, 1939 in Guangdong, China, and immigrated to Canada in 1964. She was a loyal friend to many, giving tirelessly of herself to those in need of a hand. She was happiest in the garden or on a dance floor and her later years were spent happily travelling with friends, being a member of the Macau Club and lavishing affection on her 3 grandchildren. She will be forever loved and remembered by many, including her son Tony, daughter-in-law Kathy and grandchildren Jacob, Anna and Connor. DAVEY, Arthur James Loving husband and father; adored grandad; and loyal friend Arthur James Davey passed away October 30, 2009. Left to share in many happy memories of him are his wife of 60 years Mollie; his beloved children Sharon (Rick); John (Mary) and Corinne; the five grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Chelsea (Nathan), Kayll, Caroline, Heather and Joelle; his sister-in-law Betty Tattam, nephew David, niece Margaret and their families; as well as many friends. He was predeceased by his brother Jack in 1942. Art was born in Victoria on August 10, 1922, except for the 20 years spent in Calgary working with CP Rail, he lived in the Oak Bay area for his entire life. He served in the Canadian Army Signal Corps from 1942 until the end of the war. He was the Dad who attended all his kid's sporting or concert events; the one who was always there to help clear the local hockey rink of snow; the one who drove other kids to the hospital to get stitches when the puck hit them the wrong way; a quiet and gentle man who will be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Art's life will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 1701 Elgin Road on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be sent to either the Oak Bay Lodge Adult Day Center; Broadmead Veterans Center; or the Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation. GRAY, Howard Melvin - Age 84 of Courtright, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at Bluewater Health Mitton Street Site Sarnia on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Margaret for 63 years. Beloved and respected father of Connie and Ross Ptolemy of Sarnia. Grandpa was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Kevin Ptolemy and Robin Meehan and her husband Jeremy. Dear brother of Iris Dunn and Margaret Crawford, and dear brother-in-law of Helen Vandevenne, Dorothy Pettit and Judy Grant. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Jeanette Gray, sister Mina Finch and brother Alex. Howard was born in Ernfold Saskatchewan and moved to Ontario in 1934. He was a retired construction pipefitter and proud member of Local 663 for 55 years. Howard was a faithful member and supporter of Calvary United Church and later Brigden United Church. An avid baseball, hockey and sports enthusiast, he was instrumental in the founding of Moore Sports Complex, and a board member for a number of years. Howard was well known as a staunch defender of his personal and political views, and was always prepared for a heated discussion. LUND, Barbara Jean - At Bluewater Health - Norman Site on Sunday, November 1, 2009, Barbara Jean (Wakeham) Lund, age 74, loving wife of Derek James Lund, of Sarnia. Dear mother of Marina of Chatham, Shirley (Jay) of Nanton, Alberta and Collette (Gerhard) of Parry Sound. Grandmother of Jean and Christine and several great grandchildren. Daughter of Mildred Wilson of Turtle Creek, New Brunswick and sister of Ruth Weir and her husband John of Turtle Creek, New Brunswick and Charles Wilson of Moncton, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her son Stanley Patriquin and father George Wakeham. Barbara had been a Sarnia resident since 1984 and retired from Inglis Ltd., in Mississauga in 1982. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Thursday, November 5th at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
