SCHOLEY, Phyllis (Grassick) April 21, 1916 - October 31, 2009 Phyllis Scholey of Edmonton left us to be with her "Johnny." She is survived by her daughter, Pat (Joe) Meyer; son, Alan Scholey; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Jack; her parents, Alexander and Elizabeth Grassick; her sisters, Elizabeth and Isabelle; her brothers, Donald, Alexander and Albert; and daughter-in-law, Janet Scholey. A special thank-you to the staff of St. Michael's Long Term Care Centre for the loving care given to our mother and nana. At Phyllis' request, no formal service will be held. NINI, Giovanni October 23, 1925 - October 30, 2009 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law that we all loved and admired so much. He passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 55 years by his side at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital. He will always be fondly remembered by his wife Emilia, his daughters Anna (Cosmo), Silvana (Dino), Bruna (Jerry), his grandchildren, Paolo, David, Melissa, Jennifer, Giancarlo, Miranda and Ivana. II Veteran, R.A.F. 1938 - 1945, Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 544, Lancaster and retired employee of the Montreal Transportation Commission) of South Lancaster; age eighty-nine years. Beloved husband of 66 years of Eleanor Waters (nee McCallum). Proud and loving father of Wendy Waters of Verdun. LAWLESS, Sister Marion (S.S. Raymond-Martyr) Peacefully at Notre Dame Residence Kingston, ON, Sister Marion Lawless of the Congregation of Notre Dame, died on Saturday October 31, 2009 in her 92nd year. She is the daughter of the late James Lawless and Mary Elizabeth Pearson. She is survived by her sister Margaret (Conley), and predeceased by her sisters and brothers: Irene, (Jordan), James, Kay (McCoy), Joseph, Kenneth, Nadine (Cady). Marion was born in Kingston and was involved in many apostolates during her long life. Sister taught for many years in schools in Ontario. She was an exceptional artist whose work demonstrates her great love of nature. She will be fondly remembered by her CND sisters, her nieces and nephews and by her many friends and students. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. DEBENHAM, LOUIS ALEXANDER January 9, 1923 October 26, 2009 Alex passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 on Vancouver Island. He is predeceased by his parents Aylmer and Elizabeth, his wife Enid (Broad), also sisters Shirley Debenham, Esther Whittingham, Linda Thiessen and daughter-in-law. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jim (Sharon), Lynn (Allen), Beverley, Scott (Karen), Bonnie (Mike), Gerald, Robert (Karen); and his siblings: Gladys Box, Clarence (Margaret), Margaret (J.D.) FLOREK Pauline June 4, 1919 October 30, 2009 With our love and sorrow we announce the passing of our dearest mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to many nieces and nephews. On Friday, October 30, 2009, Pauline Florek, widow of Adolph Andrew Florek, Glenavon, SK. and of late the Lakeside Nursing Home, Wolseley, SK., died at the age of 90 years. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Glenavon, SK., on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. By Rev. Ed Hengen. Interment in the parish cemetery. Prayers will be held in the church Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Aguinaldo Fermo officiating. Predeceased by parents, John and Anna Koziol (nee Kachmar), husband, Adolph in 1999, an infant son at birth, all twelve of her siblings, (she lived to be the eldest) and son-in-law, Tony Sikora. Pauline is survived by her three children, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: daughter Edna Sikora, Winnipeg, MB., and her family, Carla (Darryl) Mroz, Matt, Drew and Aaron, Beausejour, MB.; Melissa (Jeff) Kowalchuk, Brayden and Ari, Selkirk, MB.; and Sheryl (Peter) Lohaza, Hannah and Tamara, Winnipeg, MB.; son, Bernie Florek, Glenavon, Sk.; son, Edwin (Wanda) Florek, Salmon Arm, B.C.; and their family, Dana (Blair) Bolster, Riley, Levi, Jacob, Logan Lake, B.C.; Jamie (Jessica Frei) Kelowna, B.C. Pauline is also survived by a special niece, Stella Kozal, Edmonton, AB., whom she raised as one of her own, as well as her in-laws, John Bueckert, Mildred and Isadore Florek, Vicky Krupski, Vicky Florek and Anne Florek. Pauline was born and raised in Goodeve, SK. In June of 1943, she married Adolph and moved to the farm in Glenavon where she remained until her stroke three years ago. Following her stroke, she then resided in the Lakeside Nursing Home. Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who put everyone's needs before her's. She loved to have her family come home to visit and loved to hear of the accomplishments of her grandchildren and the antics of her great grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress. She could sew anything from Barbie doll clothes to mens suits. Her passion was gardening and flowers. She had the greatest green thumb ever. In her younger years she was also an active member of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary CWL. Our gratitude to the nurses and staff of Lakeside for their compassionate care in these last few weeks of her life. If friends so desire, contributions to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary R.C. BAIN, Marie Christine (Worden) - March 24, 1910 -- October 30, 2009 After a long, full and healthy life, Marie has been called to be with her beloved husband Bob (deceased 1963) and son David (deceased 1990). Last of her generation of the Worden and Bain families, Marie was born in Preston, the first child of Maria and Joseph Worden. A year after their marriage in 1939, she and Bob moved to Toronto where she lived until 2007. Throughout her life she had a keen interest in music, theatre, learning through various mediums, playing bridge and lawn bowling. She was a member of the Kingsway Women's Club and Etobicoke Lawn Bowling Club. Her large circle of friends evolved from these various activities. Following Bob's death, she worked for 15 years in the credit department of Eaton's before retiring. Predeceased by her brother Peter Worden and sister Lillian O'Connor. Survived by daughter Sandra Evans (Jim) of Kitchener; granddaughters Carmel Evans Martin (Jim) of Waterloo, Lynne Zulian (Adrian) of Barrie; grandsons Ryan Bain of Kitchener and Kevin Bain of Errington, BC, great-granddaughters Emily, Claire and Sarah Martin, and Meghan and Mikayla Zulian; Worden nieces and nephews and their families and members of the Bain family. Marie's faith and strength through adversity in her life are a great part of her legacy. Following a recent stroke, Marie passed away at Freeport Hospital on Friday, October 30, 2009. A Memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 Laurentian Dr., (at Block Line Rd.), Kitchener at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2009, Fr. Jerzy Tomin officiating. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Emmanuel Village for their compassion and care while Marie resided there.
