WOOLNOUGH, Stella July 31, 1916 - October 16, 2009 On October 16th our beloved Mother Stella passed away in her home at the age of 93 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1982. Stella will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her sons Gerald (Liz), Mike (Helen) and her daughter Sally (Cam). Grandchildren Elissa, Sally-Anne, Gillian, Cameron, Sean and Travis. Great-grandchildren Kaden, KaiLeigh, Zoe, Finlay, Chloe, Matthew and Reilly. She was predeceased by all her sisters and two brothers and will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews overseas. Stella cherished family above all, she was the spirited matriach of our family and lived life to the fullest. At her request a private family service will be held in celebration of her life. Victor Bergquist January 10, 1916 October 18, 2009 Victor Bergquist went gently into the arms of his heavenly Father on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Spruce Manor Special Care Home in Dalmeny with his family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Victor is survived by his loving wife, Sarah (Sadie); daughter, Elline (Dick) Johnson; son, Monty Bergquist; and grandchildren, Ryan and Kathryn Bergquist; brother-in-law, Don Cameron; sister-in-law, Eileen Abrams; sister-in-law, Ada Bentley; brother-in-law, Harvey Bentley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Magnus and Elline (Lorentzen) Bergquist; sisters, Sigrid Blackmore, Alice Bergquist, Myrtle Grasser, and Edith Mumford; and brothers, Eugene and Clifford Bergquist. We wish to thank the staff at Spruce Manor for the kindness and care that they lavished on Victor for the nearly two years that he resided there. Your actions will never be forgotten. JARVIE Reverend Doris (Peace) On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, Reverend Doris Jarvie passed away peacefully in her sleep. Doris would have celebrated her ninety fifth birthday this November. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her sister Gladi Warburton and her two nieces, Vallerie and Karia Dearden, her grand-nephew Dean McGee, his wife Rose and children Rebecca, Vanessa and Calvin, step-children Bev Ross and husband Cal, Mark Jarvie and wife Linda, Ian Jarvie and wife Val, Gordon Jarvie and wife Erika, and grandchildren Lisa, Matthew, Kenton, Mitchell, Suzanne, Jon, Geoff, Tim, Danny and Tom. Born in Calgary in 1914 Reverend Doris Jarvie dedicated her life to preaching the Word of God and helping those in need. She is fondly remembered by many as being "like a mother to me". During the course of her long and fruitful career Doris touched many individual lives both in the numerous churches she started and in her weekly radio broadcast. As well, Doris had a deep concern over the plight of orphan children in India, the Philippines and Haiti and was a long time contributor to their cause. Doris is predeceased by her first husband Norman and her second husband Fred. A funeral service in memory of Doris will be held on Thursday, October 22 at 2PM at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660 - 72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC with Reverend Jean Lind and Reverend Paul McPhail officiating. NOMURA Masao Born January 18, 1911 in Westham Island, B.C. Passed away peacefully at home at the age of 98 on October 10, 2009. Predeceased by brothers Toshikazu, Junichi and Torae and sisters Shizue Furikawa and Kiyoe Morizawa and daughter-in-law Lillian Nomura. Survived by and sadly missed by his loving wife of 73 years, Yukie, his sons Kiyoshi (Mary) Osamu, Susumu (Pauline) Brian and his daughters Ikuko (Roy) Tazuko (Joji) Akiko (Dave) Yoshiko (Bruce) Emiko (Larry) and his 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Yoshio (Sayo), sisters Tsunae Yamashita, Misaye (Suetsugu) Atagi. A private family memorial service was held on October 19, 2009 at the Richmond Funeral Home with Rev. RIVARD Soeur Denise Les 2 Rives - 20 octobre 2009 À Saint-Hyacinthe, le 12 octobre 2009, est décédée sœur Denise Rivard, en religion (Marie-Marthe) des Sœurs de Saint-Joseph-de-Saint-Hyacinthe, à l’âge de 80 ans, après 49 ans de vie religieuse. Elle laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille religieuse, trois frères et une sœur: Jeanne (feu Lucien Chauvette), René (feu Thérèse Lemoine), Lucien (Jeannine Morin) et Évariste ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Sœur Denise Rivard a été exposée le mardi 13 octobre, à 13 h 30, à la maison mère des Sœurs Saint-Joseph. Une prière spéciale eut lieu à 19 h 30. GUSHULAK, John 2009-10-20 Oct. 10, 1918 to Oct. 17, 2009 It is with great sadness, the family of John Gushulak announces his passing at Versa Care formerly of Morse Street - Current River. John was born in Gardenton, Manitoba in 1918 (he had just celebrated his 91st birthday on October 10). John was the only child of Mike and Annie Gushulak. His mother passed away during child birth and his father died shortly after of influenza. John was raised by his aunts and uncles in Gardenton. John started his working career with Armstrong Trucking; he also worked on the construction of the Prisoner of War Camp - "Pays Plat". John then began working for the CPR in the warehouse division in 1945 retiring in 1980. John was married to Sophie Dudar on October 26, 1946 and they would have celebrated their 63 wedding anniversary this month. John and Sophie have 4 children - Patricia Tibbs (Pat Danelisky), Judy Carr (Eber Gambee), Susan Rogers (Allan) and Michael (Cheryl). John also has seven grandchildren Michael Tibbs, Michelle Boucher (Joe), Jennifer Yahn (Darcy Pinch), Jeffrey Carr, Cynthia Rogers (Michael Celt), Meghan and Justin Gushulak. John also has three great grandchildren Courtney Boucher, Kailyn and Hayden Yahn. Predeceased by his parents, mother-in-law Nellie Dudar and also one grandchild Timothy Allan Rogers. John’s greatest joy was his wife and family. He spent many hours at Boulevard Lake with his children and enjoyed attending different activities with his grandchildren. John was an active member of the Strathcona Recreation Community Centre. He loved to help out the "Strathcona Teen Toppers" and the running of the weekly Bingo. John liked to garden and shared his harvest by biking around Current River delivering fresh vegetables and fruit to family and friends. John also enjoyed going to Duluth with his family and going to Bingo with his wife and sister-in-law Stella. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Current River United Church on Morse Street. Keith resided at Morningside Village, New Hamburg and was formerly of Sudbury where he worked as a building inspector for many years. He was born 77 years ago in London, England and was the son of the late William & Alice (Wilson) Anderson. Beloved husband of Jean (Schultz) Anderson with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage. Dear father of Doug & Kay Anderson of Kitchener, Dave & Denise Anderson and Patrick Anderson all of Sudbury. Loving grandfather of Kyle & Trista Anderson and Eric Anderson and specially missed by his granddog Chewie. CORBEIL (Miller), Leslie Ann - After a long and courageous battle with Leukemia, Leslie lost her fight and was brought home on October 18, 2009. RINALDO, Carlo - Passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at home at the age of 76. Beloved husband to Eila (predeceased). Carlo, born in Italy, was the eldest son of Zenone and Terisa, predeceased. He is survived by his brothers Lorenzo (Doris), Gilbert (Cecilia); sisters Lucy (Peter) and Mary (John); children Richard (Molly), David (Adrian) and Carla (Virginia). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Ethan, Aurora, Joshua, Finn, and Sarah. While Carlo spent his working life as an auto body repair man and for many years owned and operated Carlo's Auto Body, his greatest passion was aviation. He spent many hours flying his private plane, visiting friends at remote camps, touring various regions of Ontario, and attending national and international air shows. LIDSTONE, David “Dave“ - Peacefully, with his loving family by his side, Dave went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2009. Beloved husband of Rosemary for 52 years. Father of Greg (Caroline), Michael (Mary), Daveen and Rose-Anne. Grandfather of Josephine (deceased at birth), Matthew and Carla. Step-grandfather of Rachel Shaw, and Brittany Nisbett. Brother of Ellis, Carl and their families. Predeceased by his brothers Carman and Wilfred. Dave worked at the Georgia-Pacific (Beaver Wood Fibre) for 45 years, retiring in 1997. He also drove tractor trailer part time for Quinn Truck Lines. Upon retirement from the paper mill and the truck line, Dave went to work for CM Construction. He was a very well liked individual and will be missed by many of his family, friends and his canine friend Bowser. Our family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Whitty and palliative care nurse Babes Morales for their compassionate care. In accordance with Dave's wishes cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLER TIMES CREMATION CENTRE. A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thorold South Gospel Chapel on Davis Street. RANTA, Rose 2009-10-20 Mrs. Rose Grace Ranta age 72 years passed away peacefully at Bethammi Long Term Care the evening of October 18, 2009 after a lengthy illness with family by her side. Rose was born on September 3, 1937 in Port Arthur to Sophia and Fred Kozak. She attended Pine Street and Algonquin Avenue Public Schools and Hillcrest High School. Rose began her working career at St. Joseph’s General Hospital, then at the Unemployment Insurance Commission and Willson Office Specialty. Rose married Henry (Hank) Ranta on July 5, 1958 and just celebrated 51 years of marriage this past July. Rose’s main interests were her family, pets, reading and travel. Survived by her loving husband Hank, son Gary (Patti) and special son Lorne. Sisters Ann Pelletier, Kay Cerven and Gladys Kozak. Sisters-in-law Mary Kozak, Stela Brown, Charlene Kozak, brother-in-law Alf Heikkinen. Numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceased by her parents Sophia and Fred, sister Mary, brothers Paul and Sam, brothers-in-law Bob, Tony, Ted, sister-in-law Aune and niece Diane. ANDERSON , John Ronald September 17, 1929 - October 19, 2009 John passed away October 19, 2009 and leaves to mourn his loving wife Marg and sons John Jr. (Anne), Ron and Don. Kurt Zimmerman June 30th, 1923 October 19th, 2009 The peaceful passing of Mr. Kurt Zimmerman, age 86 years of Saskatoon, SK, occurred on Monday, October 19, 2009 at Luther Sunset Home, Saskatoon, SK. Kurt was born in Lotz, Poland. After the Second World War he moved to Germany, settling in Buedeningen, a small village near Frankfort. It was there he met Maria Dyck. They married on January 18th, 1947. In June 1949, they immigrated to Canada starting out on a farm at Waldheim, SK. The next year, 1950, they moved to Saskatoon. Kurt worked for Sask Power for 35 years. He enjoyed brick laying, gardening and photography. He also liked to travel and holiday. Left to cherish Kurt's memory four sons, Peter (Donna), David (Myra), Henry (Paula), Walter Zimmerman; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Fred of Germany; brother-in-law, Henry (Dorothy) Dyck; sisterin-law, Margaret Doerksen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kurt was predeceased by his loving wife, Maria and brother, Fritz. KRUEGER Bernd Joachim Bernd Joachim Krueger of Richmond, 61, died October 8, 2009, in Sandwich, Massachusetts. A resident of Vancouver since age 5, when he came with his parents from East Germany, Bernd was a gentle man committed to his daughter, Tara Leanne Krueger, and wife, Barbara Donovan Ridgway. A graduate of UBC, Bernd made his career as a chartered accountant primarily for development corporations. An only child, Bernd was predeceased by his parents, Else Gertrud (nee Lechelt) and Hans Emil Artur Krueger. He was greatly affected by the passing of his beloved dog Trebor, who passed two days earlier. He will be missed by his family and friends in the Vancouver area, who will recall his sense of humor and pursuit of knowledge and fascination of most every kind. MASON Kenneth Roy September 15, 1932 - October 15, 2009 Predeceased by his parents Oscar and Bessie Mason, his brother Edward, and his sister Olive. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean; daughters Carol and Heather; his granddaughters Stephanie and Christina. Ken is also survived by his sisters Dorothy, Jean, and brother Grenville. Ken retired from working at Canada Safeway for 38 years in 1990. He graduated from John Oliver High School in 1951 where he was a member of the first McMillan Waltz Team to ever win the Waltz Competition. Elizabeth will long be remembered for her quirky sense of humour; she loved to spread sunshine by making people laugh!
