CAPLE, Christopher Norman September 23, 1953 November 14, 2008 Born in Vancouver, Christopher died suddenly at home in Victoria, age 55, of a heart attack. Recently retired from the B.C. Ministry of Economic Development, Christopher Caple was proud to have used his intelligence and integrity in the public service over a 30 year career. Chris was a loving, generous and quietly devoted family man. His actions spoke volumes more of an enduring love and care for family and friends. We share many happy memories. Christopher Caple was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Harold Henry Caple and Barbara (nee Murray) Caple. Chris is survived by his wife Jo Ellen (nee Collins) and their daughter Mary Caple, his sister Elizabeth (Malcolm) Lower, brother Bruce (Candace) Caple, nieces, nephews, cousins, and both he & his wife's extended families. Chris will be truly missed by family, friends, former colleagues and many acquaintances. A gathering in Victoria, B.C. of friends & relatives in memorial of Christopher Caple is planned for Friday, November 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, 3475 Ripon Road, Victoria, B.C.V8R 6H1. There will be church services in Vancouver, B.C. at a later date. DEACON, Thomas Everitt Jr. On October 13, 2009 Tommy Everitt Deacon Jr. passed away at the age of 41 years. Tommy will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his Dad and Mom, Tom Sr. and Joyce; his sister, Debbie (Darcy) and brother, David (Tammy); his nieces and nephews, Jamie, Cory, Adam, Everitt and Emily. LIDSTONE, David “Dave“ - Peacefully, with his loving family by his side, Dave went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2009. Beloved husband of Rosemary for 52 years. Father of Greg (Caroline), Michael (Mary), Daveen and Rose-Anne. Grandfather of Josephine (deceased at birth), Matthew and Carla. Step-grandfather of Rachel Shaw, and Brittany Nisbett. Brother of Ellis, Carl and their families. Predeceased by his brothers Carman and Wilfred. Dave worked at the Georgia-Pacific (Beaver Wood Fibre) for 45 years, retiring in 1997. He also drove tractor trailer part time for Quinn Truck Lines. Upon retirement from the paper mill and the truck line, Dave went to work for CM Construction. He was a very well liked individual and will be missed by many of his family, friends and his canine friend Bowser. Our family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Whitty and palliative care nurse Babes Morales for their compassionate care. In accordance with Dave's wishes cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLER TIMES CREMATION CENTRE. A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thorold South Gospel Chapel on Davis Street. ODAGAKI , Torao (Bunk) August 24, 1926 - October 19, 2009 Bunk, beloved husband of Grace, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years surrounded by his loving family. Bunk is fondly remembered by his son Craig (Paula) and his daughters, Esther, Dawn (Wade) and Adele (Doug). He is also survived by his brother Earl (Sekiko) Odagaki and sisters, Miyoko Nakayeda and Yoshimi Odagaki. Bunk delighted in the company and activities of his grandchildren - Rebecca, Sarah, Ethan, Kylie, Jarrett, Sean, Taryn, Stephanie, and Brett. Born in Chemainus, BC, he settled in southern Alberta after being interned during the Second World War. Bunk's first career was as a land surveyor followed by operating a successful dry cleaning business for thirty-five years. GUSHULAK, John 2009-10-20 Oct. 10, 1918 to Oct. 17, 2009 It is with great sadness, the family of John Gushulak announces his passing at Versa Care formerly of Morse Street - Current River. John was born in Gardenton, Manitoba in 1918 (he had just celebrated his 91st birthday on October 10). John was the only child of Mike and Annie Gushulak. His mother passed away during child birth and his father died shortly after of influenza. John was raised by his aunts and uncles in Gardenton. John started his working career with Armstrong Trucking; he also worked on the construction of the Prisoner of War Camp - "Pays Plat". John then began working for the CPR in the warehouse division in 1945 retiring in 1980. John was married to Sophie Dudar on October 26, 1946 and they would have celebrated their 63 wedding anniversary this month. John and Sophie have 4 children - Patricia Tibbs (Pat Danelisky), Judy Carr (Eber Gambee), Susan Rogers (Allan) and Michael (Cheryl). John also has seven grandchildren Michael Tibbs, Michelle Boucher (Joe), Jennifer Yahn (Darcy Pinch), Jeffrey Carr, Cynthia Rogers (Michael Celt), Meghan and Justin Gushulak. John also has three great grandchildren Courtney Boucher, Kailyn and Hayden Yahn. Predeceased by his parents, mother-in-law Nellie Dudar and also one grandchild Timothy Allan Rogers. John’s greatest joy was his wife and family. He spent many hours at Boulevard Lake with his children and enjoyed attending different activities with his grandchildren. John was an active member of the Strathcona Recreation Community Centre. He loved to help out the "Strathcona Teen Toppers" and the running of the weekly Bingo. John liked to garden and shared his harvest by biking around Current River delivering fresh vegetables and fruit to family and friends. John also enjoyed going to Duluth with his family and going to Bingo with his wife and sister-in-law Stella. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Current River United Church on Morse Street. SPRINKS Neville Kerfoot June 25, 1921 - October 16, 2009 Taken suddenly into the arms of Jesus. Born near Moose Jaw, Sask., Nev married his sweetheart on December 25, 1944 and moved to BC settling in Burnaby and raising their family. Survived by his wife of 65 yrs. Joy, daughters Ruth Forst (Jerry), Donna Garrod, Linda Swindell (Tom), seven grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was also loved by many extended family and dear friends. Predeceased by brothers David and Raymond. He lived his life with humour and grace and will be greatly missed. Tears may last for a night but joy comes in the morning. Memorial service to be held at 2 pm Friday, October 23, 2009 at Heritage Alliance Church, 3440 Mt. Lehman Rd., Abbotsford. GIRARD, Godfroy - In loving memory of Godfroy Girard 75 years.The family announces with sorrow his death at Maison Vale INCO Hospice October, 16th 2009, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Ville-Marie, Quebec on December 9th, 1933. He moved to Blezard Valley in 1948 where he later met and married Georgette (nee Moncion) on December 01, 1962. Waiting his arrival at Heaven's gate were his parents Delphis and Leonna Girard (nee Carrufel). Godfroy sadly leaves behind his wife of 46 years Georgette Girard (nee Moncion). He will forever be missed by his son Lucien (Lou) (wife Suzanne) of Val Caron and daughter Ginette (husband Richard Paquette) of Blezard Valley. Upon his retirement he was very fortunate to have spent many wonderful afternoons with the two apples of his eyes, his grandsons Andre and Justin Girard, who could always make him smile. He is predeceased by his brothers Moise (Kitt) (April, 2009) wife Denise, Ludger, Alphege, Bruno, Normand and sisters Lucienne, Desneige and Madelaine. His life was made richer by his extended family, brother-in-law Hubert Moncion (wife Jeanne) and sister-in-laws Denise (husband Aurel predeceased) Caron and Therese (husband Radolphe predeceased) Moncion. We know it was his love of family that continued to give his life meaning and great pleasure throughout his illness. He was a loving man who was always happiest surrounded by his loved ones. He enjoyed his many visits with his nieces and nephews and all of our lives are enriched by having shared in his life. He had more living to do and wanted to have more time to spend with his family, however God saw he was tired and took his precious soul to his garden in heaven. The family would like to express our gratitude to Margerite Greaves and Chantal Larochelle from Bayshore nurses, the Northern Cancer Centre, the 4th floor staff at St-Joseph Hospital especially Josee Castonguay and also from the bottom of our heart a very big thank-you to all the staff and volunteers at Maison Vale INCO Hospice for making Godfroy's last days very peaceful. In keeping with Mr. Girard's wishes there will be no visitation, a memorial mass will be celebrated on October 24th at 11:00 a.m. 2009, at Notre-Dame du Rosaire Church in Blezard Valley. KYLE, Mary June 13, 1947 - October 16, 2009 On October 16, 2009, Mary passed away quietly after a long, courageous battle with kidney disease. Mary was a warm and amazing woman who devoted her life to her children, family, friends and community. She is predeceased by her son; Kevin Schmidtke, her brother; Gary Kyle and her parents; Bertha and Cyril Kyle. McDonald, Wilfred Joseph passed away peacefully in his sleep early on October 19th following a wonderful and funny evening spent with his family that saw lots of kidding, smiling and hugs being dished out. Dad was born in St. Paul's Hospital on August 15th, 1924 and raised in the Westmount area before building a home in the Mayfair district with his wife Shirley. Dad attended St. Mary's School and after serving his country in WW II as part of the Canadian Occupation Army returned home and went to work for Bowman Brothers before embarking on a 35 year career with the Saskatoon Fire Department. Dad was the recipient of the Laudable Conduct Award presented by the City for his heroic actions during a house fire in which he entered a basement and saved the life of a young girl. At the time of his retirement Dad's rank was Assistant Deputy Chief. Always a deep thinker he was often counted on to make the proper decisions, was able to fix anything, and enjoyed the simple things in life as long as they revolved around family. Events such as a family supper, Bran Flakes and Marmalade toast in the morning, watching the Roughies on TV, a slice of pie, going for breakfast with John to the Co-op or a road trip to visit relatives were always important. Dad was predeceased by his wife, Shirley; parents, Martin and Ellie McDonald; sister, Helen; and brothers, Lionel, Ron, and Ken; as well as brothers-in-law, George Janzen, Bill Marshall, Abe Fedrau; and sister-in-law, Liz Dewar. Left to mourn are his daughters, Karen (Dave) Semeniuk, Maureen (John) LeClaire and son Murray. Plus Dad's sisters, Rita Janzen, Margaret Marshall, and brothers, Mervin and Percy; sister-in-law, Johanna McDonald; numerous nieces and nephews; and our close family friend, Darlene Sellers. Dad was especially proud of his grandchildren, Ryan Semeniuk (Jodelle), Jolene Smith (Michael), Jesse LeClaire, Cameron LeClaire and great grandson, Connor Smith. As a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1517 Dad was willing to lend a hand, and his Roman Catholic faith was a huge part of his life. Although the last 12 years without Mom were especially tough, his beliefs, the K of C, and friends from the church were important to him and it was fitting that the view from his hospital bed was of St. Mary's Church. On behalf of our father, the family would like to thank the staff from St. Paul's hospital 7th floor and the Palliative Care Unit. Also thanks to the members of St. Mary's Church for bringing communion to his house every Sunday, and the Department of Veteran Affairs for their support. BABIAK, Jason Paul 2009-10-20 "Jason, your passing leaves two broken hearts – no greater man will ever be in our lives." Mom & Ashley It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Jason Paul Babiak "Babs", age 31 years, announce his peaceful passing in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Jason was born on April 3, 1978 and from the beginning he was full of life with a kind soul and a big heart. Jason loved his family unconditionally, especially his sister. Over the years they moved from siblings to best friends and could spend hours deep in conversation, or just plotting activities. After graduating from St. Patrick High School, he attended Lakehead University and later graduated from Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. Jason has made many places his home, he ventured out to live in Banff, Alberta then returned to Thunder Bay before heading to Barrie for a few years. His move to Yellowknife in June 2008 was to further his goal of becoming an electrician like his father. He was employed by Global Technical Services as an electrical apprentice and was looking forward to its completion and moving on in a few years. Jason was always true to himself and others. He loved to make people smile and enjoyed playing practical jokes on friends and family alike. Jason was often heard to say "As long as I am content with life, I don‘t need to be happy all the time.", an expression he treasured that was shared with him by his Uncle Joe. Jason also had a great love for his close friends and he truly enjoyed all the social activities, simple or grand it made no difference. Jason will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Debbie and sister Ashley; aunt Gayle (Mike) Poluyko, cousins John and Laura; uncle Joe (Cathy) Babiak, cousins Mary Beth and Paul. He will also be missed by Chris, Gary Tomcko and family who loved him like their own, many good friends, best friends and all that ever met him coast to coast. He will be especially missed by his younger sister Ashley with whom he shared many secrets, who he loved very much and always protected. Jason was predeceased by his father Frank Babiak (1999). Jason was a proud man that touched many lives with his contagious humour, charm and sarcasm. His loyalty to family and friends knew no bounds. A Celebration of Jason;s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Royal Canadian Legion ˆ Slovak Branch # 129, 801 Atlantic Avenue. PLAMONDON, Edouard À Montréal, le 11 octobre 2009, à l'âge de 82 ans, un être attachant est décédé M. Edouard (Eddy) Plamondon, époux de Mme Hélène Payette. Aimé par sa famille et ses nombreux amis. Ses enfants : Jean (Sandra), André (Christiane), Marilouise (Gilles) et ses petits-enfants : Jonathan, Laurence, Sarah, Mathieu et Kim ont perdu leur philosophe et port d'attache.
