SMITH, Anne (nee Murdoch) - “Always with that beautiful smile and everything for her family”. Peacefully, at Dorchester Meadows, Niagara Falls, on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late James “Jim” Smith (1992). Loving mother of Jayne (the late Gerry), Gayle (Jerry), Tom (Lisa), Keelee, Kyle, Elizabeth (Richard) and Joy (Wally). Nana and Grandma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren David, Chris (Julie), Tina (Brian), Shawn (Lynn), Jason (Ashley), Amanda (Bryan), K.J. (Jessica), Chad, Michael, Dana (Barry), Dean, Matthew (Mari), Robert, Brittany and Chelsey and by her great grandchildren Austin, Autumn, Triston, Daytona, Angel, Ashley, Mason, Cameron, Peyton, Rachel and Hilary. Dear sister of Jimmy (Edna) Murdoch and Charlie (Jeanette) Murdoch. Predeceased by brother Bill survived by his wife Ruby Murdoch. Cousin of Kirky (Joe) Mulligan. Beloved wife of the late Neil MacCallum and dear mother of the late Warren MacCallum, Charlene (Dale) Wilson and Lonnie MacCallum. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Brett (Amanda) Wilson, Jill (Darcy) MacNeill, Susie Wilson, Laura MacCallum, great-granddaughter Novalee Wilson, brothers and sisters Shirley Jordan, Arlene (Wallace) MacKenzie, Glenda (Joe) Gallant, Eleanor “Honey” (Ken) Campbell, Gordon “Demps” (Betty) Gregory, and Lloyd “Teet” (Mary) Gregory. JACK WESLEY WINIK January 8th, 1937October 16th, 2009 It is with sadness to announce the sudden passing of Jack at St. Paul's Hospital. Jack is dearly loved and remembered by his wife Lauraine; son, Stephen Winik (Jacquie); daughter, Deanna Kunz (Kevin); six grandchildren, Tara, Robin, Derek, Jenise, Jessica and Cody; one great grandson, Noah; one brother, Victor Winik (Janet); three sisters, Terry Sleep, Nadine Chupik (Willy); Jerry Winik (Ron), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years followed by a number of years with Federated Co-op before his retirement. Jack enjoyed the quiet times working around the yard, evening pool games with close friends, or drives out to the countryside to observe the wilderness. A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at 1:00 p.m. from the Hanley Cemetery. PEAT - Major Archie Mackellar January 28, 1925 - October 15, 2009 Archie passed peacefully into his eternal reward on Thursday evening, surrounded by his loving family. Archie was born in Winnipeg, one of three children born to Scottish immigrants, the late William and Mary Peat. Archie was the beloved husband of Eileen (Pitcher) for over 59 years, and will be lovingly remembered by Eileen and their children Sharon (Haydn), David (Robyn), Bob, Brenda (Alfred) and Doug (Karen), treasured grandchildren Rebecca, Jacob, Jonathon, Daniel, Bethany, Stephen, Karen, Andrew, Dara, Brenda, and Aaron, great-grandchildren Sarah and Emily as well as many close friends and extended family. Archie and Eileen served for 48 years as an officers (pastors) with the Salvation Army throughout Canada and Bermuda. Archie's ministry touched the lives of many people with his spirit of gentleness and generosity. As a Rotarian, Archie was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow for his community service. He loved music, and played his concertina and various brass instruments for the enjoyment of many and for the glory of God. He especially delighted in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Archie's family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Evergreen Baptist Care Home for their loving and dignified care in the latter stages of Alzheimer's disease. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at 2:30 pm at the Salvation Army Cariboo Hill Temple, 7195 Cariboo Road, Burnaby. She was born on August 14, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan. Eleanor was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She had previously worked as a seamstress - a job she loved and that showed in the many crafts she made for her friends and family. She will be remembered for the numerous stuffed animals she made for all of her grandchildren. MCINTOSH, Ora Winifred (Gable) passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at the Chatham Campus of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Ora was born in Blenheim 95 years ago to Lillian (Reynolds) and Charles Gable. She is predeceased by her husband Lyle McIntosh in 1990. Ora is survived by her sister Ruth Roadhouse of Blenheim and by her brother Jack Gable of Florida. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Verna Gable of Blenheim. Also surviving are nieces Anne Gammage, Janice Fletcher, Linda Karnas, Debbie Morrill, and nephews John Roadhouse, Garry Gable, Ronald Gable, John Gable, Clark Gable, and Allan Camp. Ora will also be sadly missed by a special friend to the family, Eric Boekhoven. In addition to her parents, Ora is predeceased by her sister Meda Babis, and her brothers Edward and Lloyd. Donald Frederick Hough October 26th, 1960 October 15th, 2009 It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our brother, and faithful friend, Donald Frederick Hough. Don was born on October 26th, 1960 in Prince Albert, SK and grew up in Saskatoon, SK. He attended Hugh Cairns V.C. Elementary School where he made some of his lifelong friends. His initials are still in the cement along with those of some of his friends. It was there that his grade seven teacher, Mr. Francis, spotted his talent and encouraged him to sing at school, giving him his first standing ovation. Don's love of singing led to song writing. He showed his natural gift for writing song lyrics and poems. Don made a career of long distance trucking and passed the many hours on the road writing his songs and poems, and like many other writers, would end up writing his ideas on napkins and bits of paper. Don also worked and lived in Calgary for many years making more lifelong friends. Don loved being with other people, he had many happy times singing karaoke and was so happy when others would ask him to sing just because they enjoyed listening to him perform for them. He gave his sisters, Laurie and Shelley, the gift of singing at their weddings. Don gave the last gift he could give by signing his donor card. Don was predeceased by his father George Hough, his beloved mother Orrell Hough and his brother Thomas Hough. He leaves to mourn his siblings; Sylvia (David) Charlton, Doris Spohn, Valerie Williams, Robert Hough, Lyle (Gail) Hough, Janis (Joe) Loseth, Shelley (Rob) Deline, Laurie (Pat) Friesen, as well as his nieces, nephews and the many friends, who were so important to him. Don gave his mom a single white rose when she passed on along with this special poem he wrote for her: While life has taken You down its troubled highway Though the road was long Now that you've come this far You followed the road to Hope, friendship, love and understanding As a seed grew into a beautiful White rose And with honesty and integrity The heavens are now blessed with One more star. As in Don's words, "the heavens are now blessed with one more star". In memory of Don, we ask you to tell your family and friends how much you love them as he so often told us. Larry was predeceased by his youngest brother Ed Buck (Melanie) of Stevensville, his parents Ed Buck and Theresa Schneider- Buck-Koabel, and his step father Leo Koabel. Brother-in-law of Jeanine Elfner (Ray) of Selkirk, Pauline Collins (Claude) of Welland, Claudette Kadwell (Glen-deceased) of Welland, Luke Bastien (Cheryl) of Fenwick, Gerald Bastien (Joan) of Wainfleet, Gerry Bastien (Darlene) of Port Stanley, Paulette Patterson (John) of St. Thomas, Victor Bastien (deceased), David Bastien, and Clarisse Beauregard (Roger) of Port Colborne. Larry was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Alice and Donat Bastien of Port Colborne. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Katelyn and Chase Winfield, José Teal, and Eric Buck, as well as long time friend, Frank Blackley (Lynn) of B.C. He is also survived by aunts and uncles of the Schneider family, as well as many nieces and nephews. Larry was employed in the lab, at Robin Hood Multifoods in Port Colborne for 38 years. He enjoyed boating in his 1957 Chris Craft antique boat, swimming, bike riding, cross country skiing, antique cars and tractors, reading novels (especially his sister Marianne's), and taking care of his gorgeous homestead. He loved his 22 year old cat Snuggles, and most of all just spending time visiting with his family. He was always building something new, or making something more beautiful, but he always had time to help others when they needed him. He was very hard working, never missing a day of work in 38 years, and a devout Catholic, never missing Sunday Mass. Laurence's family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at St. George's R.C. Church (56 Ridgeway Rd., Crystal Beach, ON) at 11:00 a.m. with Father Stanley Ksciuk officiating. WYLIE, Dorothy - Dorothy Irene Wylie nee- McKenney of Cornwall in her 72nd year passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1:30pm surrounded by her loving family at the Carefor Hospice in Cornwall after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Smiths Falls and was the dear daughter of the late John McKenney and the late Etta Hamilton. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Ron Wylie. Loved mother of Rhonda Byrgess (Bruce) and Greg Wylie (Lynn) all of Cornwall. Dear sister of Glen McKenney (Marg) of Boston and Mary McKibbon (late Harry) of Renfrew. Sadly missed by her four grandsons Denis, Bradley and Chad Orchard, Benjamin Wylie and her step grandson Lance Burgess. Survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all. BAKER, Claren - Of Lion's Head and formerly of Wiarton passed away with his family by his side at Golden Dawn Nursing Home, Lion's Head on Friday, October 16, 2009 in his 96th year. Cherished father of Ruth (Dave) Munn of Kenora and Mary (Ron) Demers of Thessalon. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jeanette (Jamie) Wisnoski, Tracy Munn (Jon Hensrud) and Andy Demers and great grandchildren Jenna, Jessica, Gracie and Shayna. Claren will be fondly remembered by his sister Verniece Baker of Wiarton. Mr. Linus Wilfred Conway, Charlottetown The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Saturday, October 17, 2009, of Mr. Linus Conway of Appin Road, in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Bernice (nee MacKey) and dear father of Barb Conway (Pat Murphy), Dale (Tanya) Conway and Paul (Denise) Conway.
