PROIETTI, Antonio (Tony) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio Proietti on Thursday October 8, 2009 at the age of 78, after a short but difficult and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of the late Alfonsina Proietti (nee Cerasuolo). Loving father of Dolores and Joseph. Son of the late Domenico and Antonietta (nee Merolla) Proietti and loving brother of John (Rosemarie), Romolo (Maria) of Montreal, the late Giuseppe, the late Alberto and the late Anna Tira, all of Italy. Dear brother in law of Orlando Cerasuolo (Isabella) ,Angelo Cerasuolo (late Anne), Elena Gallo (Luigi) and Alessandro Cerasuolo (Maria). He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Antonio immigrated to Canada in 1951 from Mignano Monte Lungo, Caserta, Italy. He was a gentle and kind man with a passion for living. He loved and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed. JOHNSTON, Lucille A. (Kelley) - It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Lucille at Hotel Dieu Shaver on October 9th, 2009, her 91st birthday. Predeceased by her husband Doug (1988). Loving mother of David and his wife Anna, and Sheila Petrie and her husband Gord. Beloved Nana of Jennifer Leaver (Jay) and Kate Petrie (Mike Bzowski). Predeceased by her sisters Cleora Kelley, Leone O'Mara, Elvira Gibbard, Vivian Wedsworth, Evelyn Holmes and brother Courtney Kelley. Lucille was a long time member of Memorial United Church, the UCW and had recently become a member of First Grantham United Church. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at First Grantham United Church on Saturday, October 17, 2009 for a celebration of Lucille's life, time to be announced. A reception will follow. KENNEDY, Lila (Lee) - On October 6, 2009 in her 97th year, Lila walked through the gates of Heaven where she joined her dearly departed husband Jack (1981). Also predeceased by her sisters Evelynn Kennedy, Mary Simmons & brother George Lee as well as special friends & caregivers Ruth & George Hiebert. Lila is survived by brothers Wes, John (Iola), Jim (Muriel) & many nieces & nephews. Lila will be sadly missed by the Bundy, Hiebert & Beyer families. Special niece to Lila was Doreen Koenig (Waterloo) who sat with Lila during her final days. Lila was a long time member of Central Gospel Temple where she had many friends & served in many capacities over the years involving, music & the library & youth ministries. FABIANI, Oreste - with heavy and broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our cherished husband, father and nonno, at his home on Friday October 9th, 2009 at the age of 75. A beloved husband to his wife Teresa for 53 years, a devoted father of Tom (Sarah) and Mary Mancuso (John) and a loving and proud nonno to Olivia, Vanessa and Kyle Fabiani and Alicia and Andrea Mancuso. He will be remembered with love by his sister Caterina Fabiani of Torino, Italy, sister-in-law Caroline Merante of port Colborne and by his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Tomasso and Raffela Fabiani, sister Maria Fabiani and brother-in-law Giuseppe Merante. Oreste was born in Gimigliano, Italy and came to Canada June 11th, 1959, where he worked for Inco in Port Colborne. He was an avid gardener, and will be missed in the soccer and hockey community where he was a Number 1 Fan to his grandchildren. Oreste was a friend to all, his home was their home. BLAESER, Francis Mr. Francis Sylvester Blaeser of Breton, formerly of Lacombe passed away on October 5, 2009 at the age of 88 years. FRENCH, Isobel August 27, 1912 - September 20, 2009 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Isobel in Victoria, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Freeman French after 58 years of marriage. She leaves behind her two loving sons, Jack (Bette) of Victoria, BC and Dwight (Olwyn) of Calgary, AB. In addition, she leaves numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as her sister-in-law, Irene Huffman of Vernon BC. Isobel and Freeman raised their sons in Vermilion AB where Isobel taught school and Freeman was a livestock broker. In their later years they moved to Edmonton and Isobel continued to teach until she retired. In 2006, Isobel moved to Victoria to be with her son Jack and his new wife. Isobel made many friends and was happy residing there until her passing. She made an impact on everyone she met and was a very refined and dignified lady who was well dressed and always coiffed (she loved her lipstick). She will be remembered for her friendliness, quick smile, talent for knitting great sweaters, her love of sweets, hospitality, generosity and the love of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts. HORCH, Richard Of Abbotsford passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the age of 77. Richard was born June 30, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and retired to Abbotsford, B.C. in 2000. He was a realtor in Edmonton, Alberta for more than 25 years. Music was his passion and as an organist he blessed others in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Abbotsford as well as singing in the Richard Eaton Singers in Edmonton and numerous church choirs. He had a deep commitment to God and cherished his family. Continuing to live life to the fullest as Richard did are his wife of 56 years, Betty; daughter Ruth Horch, daughter Heather (Dan) Janzen, son Richard (Colleen) Horch, eight grandchildren: Rachel (Jeff), Ben (Melissa), Jenn (Dan), Jessica (William), Jared (Becky), Katrina, Nicole, Jeff and one great-granddaughter Linnea. He will be dearly missed by his four sisters: Clara (Jake) Froese, Doris (Lloyd) Scott, Lorna (Jim) Morris and Carol Budde and many more family members and friends. Mary will be remembered by many for her zest for singing with the Sweet Adelines, the love of her grandchildren and her interest in her nieces and nephews. LESTER, Gladys Ethel nee: Woodman Gladys passed away peacefully at the Zetter Care Centre in Edmonton on October 6, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Gladys was born in London, England on January 28, 1919 and moved to Edmonton as an infant. She grew up in the Westmount area, the eldest child with three younger brothers. Gladys went to Westmount School and then Victoria High School and upon graduation attended the University of Alberta where she successfully earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in May 1939 at the age of twenty - a rare accomplishment for a woman of that era and one of which she was quietly proud. Gladys enlisted in the Canadian Army at the outbreak of World War Two and was stationed at the Mewata Armoury in Calgary. It was during her time in the forces that she met her future husband, Eugene "Jeep" Lester, also stationed in Calgary. They were married in 1945 in a full military ceremony in Calgary. The couple moved to Red Deer and raised a family of two sons and a daughter. An early working mother, Gladys enjoyed her career as an accountant for more than twenty-five years. In 1986 Gladys retired and returned to Edmonton to be near family. Predeceased by her husband Gene in 1978 and her brother Gordon Woodman in 1996, she is survived by her brothers Stan and Jack (Rosemary) Woodman, sons Gordon (Marie) and James, and daughter Joyce (Sean), six grandchildren (Amy, Aaron, Kelin, Topher, Max, Doug) and three great-grandchildren. Bonnie Dodds It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Dodds of Saskatoon on October 2, 2009 at the age of 67. HUNT, Ruby H. William Hunt, Hildred Richardson and Leslie Ann Hunt are saddened to announce the death of their mother Ruby Hunt who passed away peacefully in White Rock British Columbia October 6, 2009. Ruby was a member of the first graduating class for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree offered by the University of Saskatchewan. Ruby loved music and while in Saskatoon sang in both the Third Avenue and Grosvenor Park United Church choirs as well as the University Chorus. In addition to her children above, Ruby is survived by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ruby's ashes will be interred in Vancouver beside those of her husband, Dr. Talmadge E. Hunt. OBRIGEWITSCH Germaine M. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Germaine Obrigewitsch on October 8, 2009 at the Watrous Union Hospital following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Verne; parents, Julius and Margaret Vanthuyne; and by a sister, Gail. She is survived by her two children, Trevor (Susan) Obrigewitsch and Michelle (Ian) Richardson; and also by her grandchildren, Shelby, Dallas, Jordon, Stephanie and Kyle; sisters and brothers, Julius (Ina), Eileen (Al), Blanche, Gary, Wayne (Joan), Kurt (Lois), Wendy (Doug), Bev (Magnus); many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held in the Simpson Community Centre on Monday October 12th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Wolffton Cemetery. Ernest William Rae The family of Ernie announces his death on Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Dr. A. Hogg Pavilion, Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC. He is survived by his wife, Hilary; his three children, Raymond, Leslie and Elaine; ten grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Ernie was born on February 18, 1918 on a prairie farm in Viscount, SK. During his early years he moved with his family to Kerrobert, Edam and Prince, SK. When war came Ernie joined the RCAF enlisting in 1941. He served on several stations in Canada eventually going overseas. He served in North Yorkshire, England and Belgium. Whilst in England he met and married Hilary Nelson. After his return to Canada he and Hilary raised three wonderful children in 64 years of marriage. His working career was in the sheet metal industry and he was a meticulous workman. He and Hilary had many trips to England and drove coast to coast in Canada. They took a trip by car the entire length of the Alaska Highway before it was paved. He loved fishing and in his later years, golf. He and Hilary moved to White Rock five years ago to escape the Saskatchewan weather. His last year was spent in care at the Hogg Pavilion. A Memorial Tea will be held on October 13th 2:00 4:00 p.m. in the Eagleview Room at the Willows Golf and Country Club, 382 Cartwright St., Saskatoon.
