Originaire de Dégelis (Témiscouata), elle était la fille de feu M. Léon Dumont et de feu dame Marie-Louise Guérette. DUBOIS, Sylvie - est décédée paisiblement, le samedi 5 septembre 2009, à l'âge de 48 ans, dans son beau chalet au bord du lac, entourée de sa famille et ses proches tous réunis à ses ctés. Chère épouse de Normand Gareau de Verner. Mère de Alexandre Dubois-Gareau et belle- mère de André Gareau (Nathalie Gingras) de Lavigne et feu Ginette Gareau. Grand- mère (Tatie) adorée de Cynthia et Jason. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses parents, Georges et Henriette Dubois de Limognes en Quercy, France, ainsi que ses frères et surs feu Georges, Nellie (Olivier Roland) de France, Sonia (Denis Gagnon) de Hull, P.Q., et Erick (Suzanne Gammon) de Sturgeon Falls. Belle-fille de feu Paul Gareau et Léonie Gareau de Verner ; belle- sur de Laurent (Linda), Clément (Penny), Denis (Pauline), Lise (Gerry) Smits, Laurraine (Marc) Bartalouchi, Gerald (ami Johanne), Sylvie (Rob) Jones et feu Ronald. Sylvie a enseigné à de nombreux élèves des écoles de langue française dans la région, et elle gardait de chacun d'eux un souvenir affectueux. Elle était une amie dévouée qui pensait toujours à aider les autres dans leurs moments difficiles, même au cours de sa propre souffrance au cours des derniers quatre ans alors qu'elle luttait courageusement contre le cancer. Aujourd'hui, elle s'est libérée de ce corps souffrant pour aller rejoindre ses guides et ses belles libellules. Parents et amis se sont réunis au SALON FUNÉRAIRE THÉORT BOURGEOIS à Verner, le dimanche 6 septembre, pour honorer Sylvie. KNUDTSEN , Kenneth Alan March 18, 1942 - September 4, 2009 With heavy hearts, the loving family of Ken, announce his passing after a short battle with cancer. Ken is survived by his wife, Beryl; sons, Mark of Robsart, Saskatchewan and Keith (Carm) of Calgary; and cherished grandsons, Korey and Kelly. Ken is also survived by his mother, Thelma, of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his father Norman. Ken was an accomplished car salesman in Calgary for more than thirty years. Ken was devoted to his family and enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey, salmon fishing, traveling to Arizona with Beryl, reading and relaxing with friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME. Interment to follow at a later date. BONNIE FAYE JOHNSTON Wednesday, 2 September 2009 - 1:23pm With sadness in our hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Bonnie Johnston (Hoard), on July 7, 2009 in Fernie, B.C. at the age of 59. She was born July 10, 1949 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late William and Mary Helen Hoard. Bonnie is survived by her children, Kirk (Kirsty) and son, Miles, of Fernie, B.C., Alvin (Corin) and sons, Jack and Breckin, of Nelson, B.C., and Sherri Lakey (Joel) and children, Garrett, Kyra, Cristan, and Justin, of Kimberley, B.C. Also left to mourn Bonnie’s passing are her brothers, David (Danila), Dale (Darlene), and Stan (Linda) of Fort Frances, Ont., Dennis (Gloria) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Lyn (Darlene) of Perch Lake, Ont., and Ken of Winnipeg, Man.; sisters, Phyllis Mongrain of Sudbury, Ont. and Cindy Stuart (Ron) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Bonnie was predeceased by her father and mother, William and Helen Hoard; and nephew, Darren Mongrain. Bonnie loved her children and grandchildren, and this is most evident in how she gave to her family. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her children and grandchildren. WILLIAM EDWARD ALLEN COLLETT Wednesday, 2 September 2009 - 1:22pm William Edward Allen Collett passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 with his family at his side. Bill was born April 14, 1932 in Fort Frances, Ont. He married his first wife, Darlene, in 1957. He went to the United States in 1963 with his family, residing in Bloomington, CA. He worked at Bennett’s Radiator Shop, servicing radiators, and then started doing brakes and alignments, starting his own business, Collett’s Brake & Alignment, in 1980 and retiring in 1998. He married his current wife, Marcia, in 1990 at the Fern Grotto on the island of Kaui. Over the years, Bill has enjoyed scuba diving, biking, gardening, four-wheeling, travelling, and anything that was adventurous. Bill was predeceased by his father, James; mother, Mamie; first wife, Darlene; son, Guy William; and twin sisters, Bernice and Berdell. With loving memories, he is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia; brother, Gerald (Bev); son, Roderick; daughter, Patti; stepsons, Richard Skolmowski (Michelle), Donald Skolmowski (Winnie), and John Skolmowski; and stepdaughter, Carol Nevins. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Linda LaBlanc (Ken); mother-in-law, Joyce Ranville; sisters-in-law, Judy (Al) Schaarschmidt and Kelly (Hamid) Eydgahi; brothers-in-law, Art Erickson and Pete Warkentin; and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada. Bill accumulated 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with another expected in December. Bill was our “Sunshine.” He gave his family, neighbours, and many friends his love, his laughter, his joking and teasing; but most of all, he always gave us that beautiful smile. Those things will be truly missed, but always remembered to keep him a part of us. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life was held Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Bridge Church of the Nazarene, 9904 Bloomington Ave., Bloomington, CA.

OBITUARY FRANCESCO SCALIA March 23, 1932 - September 4, 2009 It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Francesco (Frank) Scalia at the age of seventy-seven on September 4, 2009. He left peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. He was cherished by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Giovanna (Vaccaro). He will be deeply missed by his children Stella (Santo), Giuseppina (Nino), Angela (Michael) and Salvatore/Sam (Annamaria). Treasured Nonno of Angela, Nino, Joanna, Melissa, John, Francis-Alexander, Sofia and Olivia. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, sister, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. Born in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, Francesco was the first member of his family to come to Canada in January 1952. Thanks to him, other family members later followed. He was a well-known and respected businessman in the Italian community. He will always be remembered for his love and strong devotion to his family. He was looked upon as a peacemaker and had a tremendous love of life. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, poetry, photography and painting. The family will receive condolences at Complexe Loreto, 4975 Boul. des Grandes Prairies, St. Leonard on Monday, September 7 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m and on Tuesday, September 8 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9 at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Church, 7645 rue Dumas, St. Leonard. GARDNER, Carmen (née Gravel) - Passed away in Sudbury, on September 5, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Daughter of the late Charles Edward and the late Juliette (née Brosseau) Gravel. Wife of the late Arthur Robert Gardner. Sadly missed by her children Michael (Lise), Terry both of Sudbury, Brian (Carol) of Toronto and Norman (Fred) of Ottawa. Loving grandmother of Christian (Angela), Jonathan, Melanie and Geneviève. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Rita (late Stephen) Oreskovich of Copper Cliff and Jack (Sylvia) Gravel of North Bay. Pre- deceased by her brothers Robert (Nicole of Montreal) and Léo Paul. Carmen was avid curler and loved the outdoors, spending her time at the cottage and fishing. COLLINS, Donna Marie (nee Cameron) At home with her family by her side, on Friday, September 4, 2009 leaving an indescribable void in their lives. Donna's fight with Cancer was short, but spirited. At the same time her grace, courage and gentle humour cushioned the dismay for all who watched her decline. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Edna Cameron. Lovingly remembered and forever missed by her husband Ray, her sons Geoffrey (Sharon), Cameron (April) and daughter Susan (Blair) Johnston. Donna was devoted to her grandchildren Kyle, Kelson, Maclean, Emma and Will. She was deeply interested in each of their young lives. Donna also leaves her brothers Dr. Campbell (Mary) of Guelph, Ontario, Colin (Joyce) of Calgary, Alberta and Keith (Mary) of Collingwood, Ontario. A gifted teacher, Donna taught English at Bayview Public School for several years leading to her retirement. The family wishes to thank the nurses who helped Donna through her last weeks, and are especially appreciative of the care and compassion provided by Drs. Farid Shamji and Louise Coulombe. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, September 9 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. He was cherished by his daughter Jane and her husband Al Proulx of Manotick, his brother George (Agnes) Diceman of Yorkton Saskatchewan and his sister Florence Parno of Winnipeg and their families; he was predeceased by two sisters. REVICZKY , Joshua Aaron December 19, 1977 - August 31, 2009 Josh slipped from the bounds of this earth on Monday after one of his many adventures took a wrong turn. Everyone will miss his mischievous smile, enormous heart and giving nature. He was fortunate to have found his life partner, Rhonda. Together they enjoyed many travels around this country that he so loved. Josh grew up on the east side of town and was very proud to have come from "The Hood". He was happiest with a beer in one hand, cigarette in the other and surrounded by friends. He loved his little princess Anna and all babies were his to spoil. In spite of his protests, animals and children were always drawn to this child, disguised as a man. Josh is survived by his soulmate Rhonda Camplin, his parents John and Birgit, his siblings Rachel (Mike), Megan, Raman Cecconi (Amanda, Anna and Donevan) and John (Sonya, Alex, Alyssa and Colin), Baba Pauline and Oma Anita. She worked as cosmetologist before attending school for bookkeeping in Moorhead, Mn. She later moved back to International Falls after becoming ill. Marilyn enjoyed playing golf and cross-stitching. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Larry “Skinny” Hanson. MAE ARMSTONG Wednesday, 2 September 2009 - 1:23pm After a long and very brave struggle with pancreatic cancer, Mae Armstrong passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009. Mae will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Patricia (Bill Knight) (and extended family Wylie (Sharon) and Joshua Knight and Perry (Stacey) and Lily Knight), Nancy Poirier and her children, Mercede and Taylor, and Vicki Poirier (David Grant) and son, Ted. The eldest of 10 children, Mae always will be remembered by her mother, Margaret Gladu; four sisters, Joan (James Marchand) of Saskatoon, Sask., Nancy (Len Noonan) of Fort Frances, Ont., Lorranine (Rod Cupp) of Stratton, Ont., and Yvette (Marcel Adams) of Terrace, B.C.; as well as four brothers, Joe (Annie) of Winnipeg, Man., Ray (Randi) of Fort Frances, Ont., Jim (Barb) of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Fred (Sonny) of Victoria. B.C. and their families. In 1983, Mae was predeceased by her father, Ted Gladu; her sister, Yvonne in 1967; husband, Don K. Armstrong in 1987; and her only son, Jim Poirier in 1991. Some of Mae’s favourite memories include numerous trips to Fort Frances, a trip to Hawaii, and a trip to Victoria, where she was a welcome guest of her brother, Fred’s. Other trips include ones with The Fife & Drum of Khartum Temple. Mae had fun wherever she went. Mae was born Nov. 21, 1933 in St. Boniface and was employed for 50 years before retiring in 2000. She devoted more than 20 years with Mutual of Omaha. Previous to that she was with Columbia Pictures. Mae started work in 1950 with C.R. Fitch, Barrister, in Fort Frances. Mae became a foster parent and was “Mom” to more than 20 foster children over the years. DEBORAH LEE INKSTER Wednesday, 26 August 2009 - 12:56pm With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and cherished friend, Deborah Lee Inkster. After her long battle with cancer, this beautiful, talented, and strong woman took her last breath on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at the Marjorie Snowden Willoughby Hospice in Kamloops, B.C. with her children, mother, and a few close friends by her side. Born to Bud and Elaine Hebert on March 21, 1952, Debbie is survived by her children, Jimmy (Laura), Jody (Scott), Jen (Andy), and Jackie (Dexter); as well as her grandchildren, Haley, Luke, Camryn, and Julia. Also left to mourn Debbie’s passing are her mother, Elaine; brothers, Rod (Deb), Brian (Cindy), Bob, and Stan (Jill); sister, Barb Beck (Bob); as well as many nieces and nephews. Debbie was predeceased by her father, L.A. (Bud) Hebert; grandparents, Larry and Nora Hebert and Stan and Annice Allen; and nephew, Jamie Onichuk. During Debbie’s journey of life, she was well-known by many in Kamloops for her talent as a seamstress, dedication as a teacher’s aide, and her special touch in the kitchen. All who knew her will remember this “Sunshine Girl” as a warm, caring, and generous woman. Debbie will be greatly missed by all the lives she has touched. Andrea O. Poulin 1921 – 2009 LEWISTON – Andrea O. Poulin, 87, of 26 Magnum Dr., Turner, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Saturday, Sept. 5, at CMMC surrounded by his family. Born at Notre Dame des Pins P.Q. Canada, Nov. 12, 1921, the son of Napoleon Poulin and Alexandrine Begin, eighth of 11children. He was a member of Sacred Heart and St. Philip’s Churches of Auburn and prior to his retirement he worked as a builder of numerous homes in Lewiston, Sabattus, Turner and Moody. He and his wife lived in Deerfield Beach, Fla., for 10 years. His hobbies included gardening, playing cards, swimming and listening to music and going out to eat. RAMSAY , Mary Elinor October 1, 1920 - August 31, 2009 Mary Elinor Ramsay of Calgary, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, August 31, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Mary was born in Purley, England on October 1, 1920. Mary returned to the family home in Montreal at nine months of age. She worked at the Montreal General Hospital as an X-ray technician where she met her beloved Don. Mary and Don were married April 18, 1942. They moved their young family to Calgary in 1946 following Don's service in the Canadian Army during World War II. Mary was an active member of the Junior League and worked for years volunteering her time at the Well Baby Clinic and the Next to New Shop. She also devoted her time to the United Church Women association. Mary created many memories throughout the years at their treasured cottage in Windermere, B.C., where she golfed, knit, worked in the gardens, and played with her grandchildren. Mary and Don spent their retirement winters at their home in Sun Lakes, AZ, golfing and entertaining good friends. Mary thoroughly enjoyed knitting and spoiled the family with gorgeous and thoughtfully knit sweaters, baby clothes, Afghans, and other treasures. Mary appreciated the fruits of Don's gardening labours, including fresh vegetables in family meals, and often displaying bouquets of sweet peas and pansies to compliment her own African violets. She enjoyed family gatherings, and spent hours in the kitchen and in the background, just listening to the banter and revelling in the ambience created. Mary will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her caring, loving, and giving nature. Mary is survived by her five children, son Jim (Sheryl) and children, Shannon (Mike) and great-grandson Matthew, Todd (Ashley) and great-granddaughter Addison and Kate; son Bob (Diane) and children, Janice Lochhead (George) and great-grandsons Eric and Alex, Brock (Kristen) and great-grandson Ben; daughter Trish Guenette (Roland) and children, Paul, Genevieve, Emily and Madeline; son Allan; and son Ray (Shelley) and daughters Brittney and Breanne. Mary was predeceased by her husband and best friend Don on August 15, 2005 after sixty-three years of loving marriage. Mary - Embraced by Love; loved the people close to her and demonstrated it through her giving nature and unwavering help. We returned her love and thank her for being the best mom and loving grandmother anyone could ask for. A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
