BELLEMARE, Gaëtan 1919 - 2009 Paisiblement, le 29 juillet 2009, s'est éteint Gaëtan Bellemare, époux de Madeleine Dyotte, « sa Mado », fils de feu Roméo Bellemare et de feu Jeanne Viviers. Il était le père de Marie (Normand F. Legault), Danièle (feu Robert Caron), Lucie (Robert Morel) et Josée (Geraldo Vivanco). Il était également le grand-père d'Étienne Bellemare-Racine (Marianne Lapalme), Tomas Marte-Bellemare, Stéphanie Bellemare Caron, Myriam Bellemare, Louis et Alexis Morel. Il laisse aussi dans le deuil plusieurs belles-soeurs, beaux-frères, nièces, neveux et amis. Il nous a quittés sur la pointe des pieds nous laissant le souvenir d'un homme bon, sage et plein d'esprit. DEWHURST, Tony - passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2009 at his home in Collingwood. Beloved husband of JoAnne. Cherished Papa of Matthew and Eric Andres, Campbell, Graham and Maleigh Henderson, Benjamin and Adam Miller. Forever remembered by his sister Jane Dewhurst of Milton. Through his work and community involvement, Tony touched the lives of many people and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. PERKS, David Marshall July 23, 1941 - July 30, 2009 As constant as the North Star. - David's beautiful, strong soul has left this earthly place and traveled finally, to his true home. Husband, partner, friend and love of Deborah (Hickey) Perks of Meaford. Brother of Joan (Roger) Webb of Barrie; Doug (Linda) Perks of Peterborough; predeceased by sister Ann Fair of Owen Sound. Brother-in-law and mentor of Wendy (John) Shopland of Missouri and Michael Hickey of Toronto. Loved and respected son-in-law of Mona (Ed) Fortune of Meaford and Allan (Shirley) Hickey of Florida. David was born in Meaford but spent 40 years in Toronto working for TD Canada Trust. David and Deborah retired early and moved to the nearness and the blue of Georgian Bay in 1999. PENFOLD, Ruth Mitsuko (nee Nishino) - Passed away peacefully at Meadows of Dorchester Nursing Home in Niagara Falls, on July 23, 2009, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Frank Penfold. Loving mother of Jeff Shimotakahara (Joanne), Laurie Barker (Phil) and grandmother of Leslie Shimotakahara and Kenzo Saito. Stepmother of Wayne (Anne) Penfold. Dear sister of Robert (Grace) Nishino and sister- in-law of Sachi Ota and Sachi Shimotakahara. Special aunt of Laura, Bobby, John, Mike, Chris, Sandy, Lisa, Steven and David. Ruth was a dignified and modest lady who loved opera, theatre, bonsai, gardening, cooking and baking. She was a member for many years of the Hamilton Ikenobo Ikebana Society. In earlier days she enjoyed camping with her family and traveling with her husband Frank. One of her proudest accomplishments was returning to school in the late 1970s and completing her Bachelor of Sociology degree at Brock University. She was a Board member of the Women's Institute, Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre and Nipponia Home. Ruth will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Special thanks to the staff of the Spring Gardens wing, Meadows of Dorchester for providing Ruth with excellent and compassionate care. In accordance with Ruth's wishes Cremation has taken place. DYNE, Peter John With sadness the family of Peter John Dyne announces his passing on July 21, 2009 at the age of 82. Born in Wallington, England, received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from King's College, London. In 1950, he received a fellowship at the National Research Council in Ottawa working with Gerhard Herzberg (recipient of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1971). Peter worked for Atomic Energy of Canada at Chalk River and at Whiteshell in Manitoba. He became the Director General of the Office of Energy Research and Development with Energy Mines and Resources, Canada. Colleagues found him fair-minded, insightful, and amusing and he brought clarity and integrity to any project he undertook. He understood science and how to make it work in the real world. Upon retirement he became a Master Class Photographer and worked with the Consumer's Association of Canada and the Consumer's Council of Canada, who awarded him Volunteer of the Year Award for his contribution to creating fair energy rates for Ontario consumers. Peter's family and friends will miss his keen intellect, dry wit and passion for science, the arts and the world around him. A scientist to the end, Peter donated his body to Queen's University. A memorial will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 3:30 at the Queen's Faculty Club. All are welcome to attend. FRISCH, Gerda Caroline (nee Hellwig) May 8, 1907 - July 28, 2009 Peacefully, on July 28, aged 102. Predeceased by husband Harald (1970) and son Robert (1985; Juliana). Survived by daughter Anita Galitzine (the late Nicholas) of Victoria, B.C., and son Thomas (Wendy) of Ottawa; grandchildren Alexander Galitzine (Kelly), Marina Classen (Kurt), Peter Galitzine (Suzanne), and Sylvia Frisch (Berwyn); and eleven great- grandchildren. Gerda was born and raised in Riga, Latvia, and married there (1929). She brought her family safely through the upheavals of WWII and after a brief spell in Denmark, settled in London, England. The family emigrated to Canada in 1954. Gerda spoke four languages, was a passionate music-lover, took a keen interest in politics, and was resolutely "old school". Possessed of a will, as well as a constitution, of iron, she was still living independently at home in Old Ottawa South on her 101st birthday. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Extendicare Starwood, Ottawa, for their care and attention during Great Omi's last year of life. OBITUARY GERALD EDWIN BISAILLON April 16, 1940 - July 29, 2009 Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at sixty-nine years old. He will be greatly missed by wife Joan (Candy), daughters Sherry (John Kennedy) and Carol, and son Gerry (Stephanie Bisaillon). Grandfather to Nicklaus, Kaitlyn and Alexis. Son to Ruth (Goodfellow) and Gerard (predeceased), son-in-law to Austin and Irene (predeceased) Candy, brother to Robert and Ron (predeceased) and uncle to David, Lianne, Robert, Scott, Lynn, Gary, Brad, Jaime, Christopher and Andrea. Gerry was an innovative entrepreneur who established various businesses over his lifetime. He was known for his exacting standards, but he also knew when and how to help and support family and friends. He will be remembered as generous and kind and for the genuine interest he took in people. He was a lifelong member of the Masons and Shriners. Gerry was an avid fisherman and boater and enjoyed many other things such as travelling, hockey, cards and cribbage. He was immersed in the horse world for a time, supporting his daughters in Pony Club and importing horses from Europe. Although he is no longer with us, he is ever near - he will live on in our hearts and memories. Private family service on Saturday, August 1, 2009.
