Marilyn Joyce Weatherbie, Charlottetown Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Thursday, July 30, 2009, of Marilyn Weatherbie (nee McGee) of Charlottetown, age 63 years. Beloved wife of Blaine Weatherbie and loving mother of Peggy Mahar (Wade). Marilyn is also survived by her sisters, Colleen McGee, Marie Murphy (Albert, deceased) and Denise O'Hanley (Jim) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Margaret McGee; brother, Harry McGee; and sisters, Peggy Kimball (nee McGee) and Shirley Chalkey (nee McGee). Elsie Mary Molyneaux The death occurred at the Garden Nursing Home on Friday, July 31, 2009, of Mrs. Elsie M. Molyneaux (nee Villard), formerly of Douglas St., Charlottetown, in her 87th year. Wife of the late Basil Molyneaux and beloved mother of Dianne Peters (Greg) Charlottetown; Frank (Sheila), Calgary, Alberta, and Marlene MacLean (Donald) of St. Lambert, Quebec. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Maureen and Stephanie Peters, Cheryl Molyneaux, Derek and Andy MacLean, Lindsey and Stefanie Jenkins, and sisters-in-law Irene Villard, Marion Molyneaux and Mary Agnes Molyneaux. KOLODA, Joseph 2009-08-01 Mr. Joseph Koloda, age 64 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, died in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Joe was born in Austria, and as a young boy, he moved to Brazil with his family. Several years later they moved to Fort William, where he has lived ever since. Joe attended Lakehead University. His working years were spent at the CPR, where he worked until illness forced him to stop. His recent passion was exotic birds. He was part of a group of people who started a local foundation for exotic birds, “Flight of Fancy Exotic Bird Sanctuary”. He presently was the President of the foundation. Joe was always willing to give a hand up to anyone, especially his family whom he enjoyed spending many hours with. People in need always came first. Joe is survived by his cousins Walter Warywoda, wife Marika and family, Myron Warywoda, wife Pat and family, Peter Bamburak, Myron Bamburak and their families, aunts Mary Warywoda, Olga Bamburak, good friends Jim and Mitchell McIlwain, Lang and Carol McNally and Jane Peloquin. He was predeceased by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 when family and friends will gather for Liturgy in Church of Transfiguration at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Vladimir Chvets. Interment will follow in Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Flight of Fancy Exotic Bird Sanctuary would be appreciated. ELVISH, Thomas David 2009-08-01 Apr. 2, 1948 – July 27, 2009 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father and Brother, Thomas (Tom) David Elvish, in his 61st year with his Family at his side in St. Joseph‘s Hospice after a brief illness with Liver Cancer. Tom‘s strength and sense of humour never left him during even his most difficult days. Tom was born April 2, 1948 to John and Eleanor Elvish (nee Hogan). He was raised in a loving home with his 4 sisters. At the age of 20 he began his employment with Abitibi (Mission Mill) in the woodroom. Over his many years of employment he worked his way up to the position of Boss Machine Tender on the paper machine. He retired at the age of 58 in 2006 after 38 years of service. During his lifetime Tom enjoyed golfing, bowling and in these last years playing pool. He belonged to the Senior Pool League and finished first in his division this past year. One of his greatest joys was his almost daily pool games with special friend Ken Marks. These were enjoyed by both with a certain amount of rivalry. Another special time for Tom was the many summers spent at friend Brian Pellizzari‘s Shebandowan camp. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years Sharon, sons Thomas (Cassandra), Michael, David and daughter Jennifer, his sisters Gayle (Tom) Vondrasek, Lynda Vibert (Walter Kocuba), Val (Phil) Matthes, Loretta (Kevin) Elvish-Kivisto, brothers-in-law Robert (Joanne) Kannegiesser and Glen Kannegiesser. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive. Tom was predeceased by his father John in 1980, mother Eleanor on January 16, 2009, father-in-law William (Dick) Kannegiesser 1968, mother-in-law Alice Kannegiesser 1994 and sister-in-law RoseMarie Perron 2001. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5th, 2009 at St. Agnes Church, 1019 Brown Street, celebrated by Father James Panikulam. Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. OJANPERA, Stanley Lester - In loving memory of Stanley L. Ojanpera, 62 years, who passed away Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 at the SRH - St. Joseph's Health Centre. He was born in Sudbury and married Karen (Anderson) in 1972 in Whitefish. A well known and liked life resident of Whitefish. He had been a machinist at INCO for 33 years retiring in 1999. An inspired builder he embraced building projects being an active volunteer. He was especially proud of the construction of the Helipad with the Panache campers association. Stan loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be remembered as a very knowledgeable person who was quick to help others. He had a great love of the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and flying his plane. A determined person he was articulate and passionate about his values and opinions. He was happiest in the company of his friends whether playing broomball or preparing a dinner. The focus of his life was his loving family especially his precious grandchildren who he loved to tease. His light and love will continue to inspire and influence all he knew. Beloved husband of Karen (Anderson) Ojanpera. Loving father of Dawn (husband Greg MacDonald), Cheryl (husband Buzz Luck predeceased), Lori (husband Jason Rietze). Cherished grandfather of Kyle, Caitlyn, Malcolm, Emilia and Alexander. COCHRANE, William J. Passed away in hospital, Smiths Falls on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 William James Cochrane in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Helen (Jay). Devoted father of Sandra (John) Taylor of Smiths Falls, Charles (Tammy) of Nanaimo, BC and Penny Ritskes (Paul Harris) of Brockville. He was predeceased by his brothers Vincent, Donald, Stuart, John and James Cochrane and his sisters Patricia Laing and Winnifred Cavanaugh. Bill will be fondly remembered by his 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Special thanks to the Medical Staff in B2 of the Ottawa Civic Hospital and the Smiths Falls Hospital for their tremendous care and concern for Bill over the last number of weeks. Norma Bourque 1927-2009 À l’Hôpital Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont, le vendredi 31 juillet 2009, est décédée Norma Bourque, âgée de 81 ans. Née le 6 août 1927 à Cap-Pelé, elle était la fille de feu Alphonse Cormier et de feue Mathilde Landry. Elle laisse dans le deuil trois enfants: Dianne LeBlanc (Victor) de Dieppe, Louis (Barbara) et Mona Hébert (Johnny) avec qui elle a demeuré pendant 28 ans, tous deux de Moncton; un frère, Siffroid Cormier (Edna), de Bouctouche; trois demi-sœurs: Rose Cormier (Ulysse), de Cocagne, Donalda Doiron (Jean-Louis) et Fernande Comeau (feu Peter), toutes deux de Cap-Pelé; trois demi-frères: René Cormier (Linda) de Cap-Pelé, Valéri Cormier (Rosie) de Petit-Cap et Arcade Cormier de Moncton; quatre petits-enfants: Manuel, Luc, Rachel et Robin (Jon). Dans ses temps de divertissements, Norma adorait jouer au bingo. Outre son époux Léo, trois sœurs: Marguerite, Lorraine et Olivine ainsi qu’une demi-sœur, Délia l’ont précédée dans la tombe. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée au Salon funéraire Frenette, 88, rue Church, Moncton (858-1900) le dimanche 2 août de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h; lundi, dès 9h jusqu'à l'heure du départ (10h15) . Les funérailles auront lieu en la Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption le lundi 3 août à 10h30. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire à Dieppe. McINTOSH, Lois Mary Lois was born on 28 May 1916 in Verdun, Quebec, the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles William McIntosh, and died in Ottawa on 23 July 2009. She is survived by her beloved family: sister Jean Switzer (the late Gordon), nephews David (Carolyn) and Bruce (Robin) Switzer, grandniece Jennifer Willgos (Dave), grandnephew Stephen Switzer (Meghan) and her pride and joy great-grandnephew Owen and great-grandniece Brooke Willgos. Lois' career in the Department of External Affairs took her to postings in Washington, D.C., Warsaw, Poland, Stockholm, Sweden and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. GALKA , A. Yvonne (nee Landels) With sadness we are announcing the passing of Yvonne Galka, beloved wife of Ken Galka. After a brief and valiant struggle with cancer, Yvonne passed away July 28, 2009 at the age of 53 years in the company of her family. During her thirty-two years in insurance, Yvonne made many good friends and was known throughout the industry. Yvonne was born Agnes Yvonne Landels in St. Andrews, Scotland. She and Ken married December 29, 1984, in Winnipeg moving to Calgary in 1990. Yvonne is loved and will be missed by her family, good friends and co-workers. She is survived by her husband Ken Galka, mother and father, John and Lillias Landels, sister Jackie (Gord), brother Craig (Kori), sister-in-law Marilyn (David) and nieces and nephew, Melissa, Tanya, Birklee, Tierney, Sara, Ryan, Savannah and Shaina, as well as a large and extended family in Canada and Scotland. Yvonne loved life, her winter vacations with Ken and their friends in Maui, doing her crosswords and crafts. She will be missed for the many things she did for others, helping with family gatherings, dog sitting for friends, her energies were numerous. MAYER , Anton John (Tony) July 2, 1936 - July 29, 2009 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Tony Mayer after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Tony was born in Ajkarendek, Hungary, on July 2, 1936. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus for forty-five years, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 285. He was a master electrician and a jack of all trades. Tony is the loving husband of fifty-one years to Adeline, father to Terry (Murray Strang), Joe (Chris Graff) and Tony Mayer; amazing grandfather to Amy, Holly, Courtney, Josh, Tricia and Tyler...The Best Grandpa Ever! SKODE , Bernard (Bernie) Thomas (Major Ret.) December 19, 1923 - July 28, 2009 Bernie Skode, beloved husband of Margaret Skode of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the age of 86 years. Bernie was a member of the RCAF and flew as a bombardier navigator with the Iroquois Squadron during WWII. Bernie also graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from UBC. After university Bernie reenlisted with the RCAF and following his military career he spent time working for the Federal Government. Even though he has been taken away from us so soon, his legacy will live on forever. Besides his loving wife Margaret, Bernie is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lorne and Liz, Greg and Lisa, David and Karen; six grandchildren Elyssa, West, Cole, Matthew, Shawn and Layne. Bernie was predeceased by his brother Alvin and sister Evelyn. STEVENS , Charley (C.H.) September 2, 1921 - July 28, 2009 Charley Stevens, beloved husband of Helen of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Charley (C.H.) Stevens was born in Winnipeg on September 2, 1921. As a young man he moved with his parents and sister Gwen to Regina. He served his country through WWII as a radar technician in the RCAF, stationed in Newfoundland. He married Helen Koepke on September 7, 1946, graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1948 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and became a Chartered Accountant in 1950. Charley moved to Calgary in the early 1950's with his wife and young son to pursue a career in the emerging oil and gas industry, joining Canadian Pacific Oil & Gas in 1958. He retired from Pan Canadian Petroleum Ltd. in September of 1986 as Senior Vice President of Finance. As an active member of the Salvation Army in Regina, Saskatoon and Calgary, Charley's greatest privilege was to serve on the Board of the Calgary Grace Hospital. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Florence Stevens of Vancouver, he is survived by Helen, his loving wife of sixty-two years; his sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Nelson Weir of Langley, BC; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Diana Stevens of De Winton, AB; his daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Glen Jolliffe of Kaleden, BC; as well as six grandchildren, Andrew, Julie (Jake), Karen (Dan), Andrea (Hector), Steven (Lori), and Cathy (Matt); and six great-grandchildren. Charley lived a full and rewarding life and was ready for his Master's call on July 28, 2009. KENNEDY, Rendell Gary - August 25, 1942 - July 28, 2009. It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Rendell, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, on July 28, 2009, at the age of 66 and after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 42 years to Glenda, cherished father of Donna Jankovic (Frank), Jamie (Laura), Steven and Cody. Loving and devoted grandfather of Evan and Mathew. Over a period of 28 years Rendell was a caring foster father to many special needs children. Rendell was a member of Pioneer Memorial United Church in Hamilton. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by family and friends. SILVELLO, Louie (1931-2009) - peacefully, at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in his 78th year. Best friend and loving husband of 59 years to Lucy (Franceschini) Silvello. Louie will be sadly missed by his daughters Linda (Chuck) Turton and Gina (Pat) Monachino and by his grandchildren Amy (Andrew) Symes and Adam Stephenson. Survived by brother Bruno (Eileen) of Hanover. Louie will also be fondly remembered by his family, including many nephews, nieces and his friends. A resident of Thorold for his whole life, Louie was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Domtar Paper Mill in 1996. Louie will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to others and his witty sense of humour.
