Beloved husband of the late Eleanor Giles. Much loved father of Donna Timmins (the late Alvin), Shirley Madden (Ray), Patricia Albert (Peter), Bonnie Armstrong (Cliff) and David Boal. Proud and loving Grandfather of 9 grandchildren and great-grandfather (GGP) of 14 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brother Clarence (the late Marion), twin brother Harold (the late Vera) and sister Kathleen Melanson (the late Joe). HUDSPETH, Adrienne Marie (O'Rourke) Adrienne was born January 18, 1921 in Byng Inlet (Britt) Ontario and died peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Kingston, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Lewis Adam Hudspeth, her father Herbert Duncan O'Rourke, her mother Marie Jeanne (Roy) O'Rourke, her sisters Aileen Tidy and Theresa Bruneau, and grandniece Emily. Adrienne leaves to mourn her brother John (Geraldine) O'Rourke, nieces Christine and Lyse Bruneau, grandniece Lindsay, great-grandnieces AlessAndra and Emily Patricia, nephews Mark, Peter and Kenneth (Carolyn), grandnephews Shawn, Andrei and Scott, great-grand nephew Aidan, cousin Ronald (Patricia) Gourley, as well as many other cousins and many many good friends and associates. Adrienne enjoyed working with Air Canada, Air France and Canadian Marconi. While at Canadian Marconi in 1968 she co-founded the Canadian Business Travel Association, it was then called the Montreal Passenger Traffic Association. The following year Toronto created it's Chapter, then known as the National Passenger Traffic Association (NPTA) was founded in the USA. Adrienne was the first Canadian to sit on the original Executive Board of NPTA. Since that time many associations have been formed in Major cities across Canada as well as at the National and International Level, with conferences being held at yearly intervals. September 30, 1998 a celebratory dinner was held in Montreal for its Montreal Members and Adrienne was invited to be its guest of honor. Unfortunately she was unable to attend due to poor health. Following her retirement at 65 years of age, Adrienne, always eager to learn, completed a Degree at Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec and attended classes at Queen's University, Kignston, Ontario. She was a member to the Canadian Federation of University Women Kingston and District. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. James Chapel of St. Mary's Cathedral in Kingston on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 2:00pm. WILLIAMS, Williamina (nee Robb) At home on June 24, 2009 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of William (That Gorgeous White-Haired Man), loving mother of Wendy (Hans Odermatt), Laura, Dawn (John Pilcher) and Danny (Tracey McCunn), proud grandmother of seven grandchildren. Loving sister to Betty, Jackie (Mel), Ruth (Rob), Margaret, Wilma (Bobby), and Alexander (Stella). Predeceased by brothers Iain and Campbell. Wilma's last weeks were spent in the comfort of her own home, saying goodbye to her family and friends with dignity and grace. The efforts of her family to provide this environment were greatly supported by the exceptional staff of the C.L.S.C. and Mount Sinai Palliative care teams (Sylvaine, Stephanie, Marthe, Johanne, to name but a few), who came into her home each day to help make this a very loving and memorable experience. DADSON , Helen May 8, 1909 - June 20, 2009 Born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, to John and Edith Ingraham, Helen is the eldest of four sisters. She graduated from Acadia University in 1928 in Mathematics and French. In 1941, Helen married Alexander Stewart Dadson. Helen is survived by her son Peter and daughter Joan MacQueen, her grandchildren Drew and Allison MacQueen, her great-grandchildren Caelan and Duncan MacQueen, and also by her sister Ethel. She also leaves behind cousins, nieces and nephews. For Helen's 100th birthday, she rode on a motorcycle. She was healthy in both mind and body, going peacefullyin her sleep. THORPE , Leslie "Les" Walter Les Thorpe, 89, of Brentwood Bay, BC passed away peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, BC, on June 22, 2009 after a short illness. Les was born in Toronto on September 20, 1919 and moved to England at an early age with his mother and siblings following the death of his father. As a teenager, Les won a coveted scholarship to a technical college and later, as a young man, was a member of the Home Guard in defence of Great Britain during WWII. In 1950 Les returned to Canada, settling in Calgary, where he was Chief Draftsman at Pacific Petroleum, and for many years volunteered as a Boy Scout leader. Les was also an enthusiastic amateur "HAM" radio operator, call signs VE6ARD and VE7FX, and built much of his own highly-technical, electronic equipment. Les is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Lena "Lee"; sons Peter (Laura) and Michael; daughter Sheila; sisters Betty and Pat; grandsons Paul, Jake and Luke; and great-grandchildren Jayden and Taylor. No Service by request. Les was a man who could be relied on to lend a hand to anyone, and those wishing to remember him might do so by doing a helpful deed for someone. VICKERS , Elizabeth (Peggy) May 26, 1930 - June 21, 2009 Peggy Vickers of Calgary passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the age of 79 years. Peggy was born in Calgary on May 26, 1930. She then moved with her family to Cramon and then back to Calgary. Her biggest joy in life was the time she spent each week with the In-definite Arts Society where Peggy enjoyed painting and the fellowship she had with the staff and fellow artists. In-definite Arts was like family to Peggy. Peggy was a long-time member of Pleasant Heights United Church which later became Wild Rose United Church. During her stay at Brentwood Care Centre she was surprised to learn that her father was living there. The staff helped to reunite Peggy with her father during the final months of his life. LINDLAND , Lawrence George September 15, 1915 - June 18, 2009 Lawrence George Lindland, beloved husband of Muriel of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the age of 93 years. Born September 15, 1915 in Jenner, AB, George was the eldest child and only son of Jakob Tobiasen Lindland and Ellen Tomina Vika originally of Haugesund, Norway. George was brother to Gudrun Merkel of Seattle, WA, Esther Weiseth of Swift Current, SK, and Ruth Svenson of Ponoka, AB (deceased). He left the family farm in Jenner at seventeen years of age to work on a farm in Tilley for five years. At twenty-two, George returned to Jenner to assist his family with moving to a new farm in Ponoka, AB. He remained on the farm until he enlisted in the army at twenty-seven years of age. George was a proud veteran of World War II, serving three years with the South Edmonton Regiment Tank Corps. He met and later married Muriel Fitzpatrick in London, England. Thereafter, he was stationed in Holland and Germany. George was honoured to march in the Victory Day parade in Berlin. After returning from the war, George worked for Veterans' Affairs, helping to settle veterans in the Eastern Irrigation District of Alberta. In 1950, George moved his young family to Calgary. He then worked as a day trader with James-Richardson & Sons and spent the next several decades raising his family. Besides his loving wife of sixty-four years, Muriel originally of Dublin, Ireland, George will also be mourned by his sons, Larry, John and Kevin; daughter Pauline; son-in-law Ben; daughters-in-law, LaDonne, Kim and Lisa; grandchildren, Warren (Cathy), Angela, Shauna (Bruce), and Jerad; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Maya, Shaelyn, Seth, Finn, and Mara; also by his surviving sisters Gudrun and Esther and his surviving brother-in-law, Sven Svenson and their children and grandchildren. LOCHHEAD, C.H. (Howard) Veteran, WWII, RCAF Retired Teacher, McArthur High School Peacefully at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on Wednesday June 24, 2009 at the age of 85. Devoted husband for 56 years of the late Alice (McKim). Beloved father of Brian (Marg), Kim (Nancy), John (Ann) and Debbie (Les Mayo). Adored Grandad of Andrew and Sarah Lochhead (Chad Webster); Lesley-Anne, Taryn and Allison Lochhead; Johnathan and Bradley Mayo. Special Uncle Howard to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by Joyce Smith of Victoria, B.C. Predeceased by brother Glenn Lochhead. Howard was born in Newburg, Ontario in 1923. He joined the RCAF in 1942 and served overseas as a pilot until 1945. He then attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a BA Honours in Geography in 1950. He returned to the RCAF as an education officer until he retired in 1971 with the rank of Major. He became a teacher of geography and special education classes at McArthur High School for 17 years, retiring in 1988. He spent many happy years cottaging at Little Green and Black Lakes, wintering in Florida, and lastly in Victoria, B.C. Howard's friendly, cheerful and always optimistic approach to life had a most positive and lasting effect on all who came to know him. Our Dad will be remembered for his devotion to Mom, love for his family, sense of humour, generosity and love of life. We will miss him. A private family service will be held at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Friday July 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family. Lina Richard - À l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncton, le dimanche 21 juin 2009, à l’âge de 57 ans, est décédée Lina Richard. Elle demeurait à Aldouane. Née à Saint-Charles, elle était fille de feu Patrick et Marianne (Ouelette) Chevarie. Lina manquera à son conjoint de fait, Adrien Robichaud; à sa mère, Marianne; à sa fille, Monique Richard (Shawn Guimond) de Saint-Charles; à son fils, Pierre Richard de Moncton et leur père, Fidèle Richard; à ses quatre petits-enfants: Zacharie, Samuel, Colombe et Mathieu; à ses trois soeurs: Sylvie Smith (Allen) de Saint-Jean, Rose Marchildon (Guy) de Richibouctou et Geraldine Carr (Ricky) d’Orillia, Ont.; à ses deux frères: Patrick Chevarie Jr de Black’s Harbour et Leonard Chevarie (Joanne) de Saint-Charles, ainsi qu’à plusieurs neveux et nièces. Un frère, Louis Chevarie, l’a précédée dans la tombe. Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Thompson de Richibouctou, le mercredi 24 juin, de 19h à 21h et le jeudi 25 juin, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague de Richibouctou, le vendredi 26 juin, à 18h30. BOUCHARD Mme Annette 1919-2009 Au Centre hospitalier de Granby, le 24 juin 2009, à l'âge de 90 ans, est décédée Mme Annette Bouchard, demeurant à Granby, fille de feu David Bouchard et de feu Exilda Déragon. Elle était la soeur de feu Roméo Bouchard (feu Cécile Lamothe), de feu Armand Bouchard (feu Lucienne Chagnon et de feu Anita Bouchard. Elle laisse dans le deuil de nombreux neveux et nièces, cousins, cousines, autres parents et ami(e)s. Sincères remerciements au Docteur François Roy, aux médecins et à tout le personnel du CSSSHY, du CHUS de Fleurimont et de la Résidence Le Riverain de Granby où elle comptait plusieurs ami(e)s, pour leur dévouement et les bons soins prodigués à tante Annette. Margaret Laura Kelly Peacefully at Park West Lodge on Thursday, June 25, 2009, of Margaret Laura (Mar) Kelly (nee Corrigan) of Fort Augustus, age 94 years. Beloved wife of Peter Kelly for 69 years and loving mother of Edna Kelly (Maurice) and Jerry Kelly (Susan). Mar is also survived by her grandchildren, Steven, Pat (Marsha), Thane (Janice), Lisa (Billy), Lynn, Amy (Trevor), Ashley (Ben), Alyssa (Jimmy), Andrew (Brittany) and Alex. Great-grandchildren, Eric, Laura, Reese, Nikeda, Tristen, Dennis and Jorja; sister, Teresa Corrigan; sister-in-law, Mrs. Eddie (Edna) Corrigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Roseanne Corrigan; sisters, Catherine Beagan (Herb), Mary Kelly (Reg) and Annie Hughes (Henry); and brothers, Bernard, Maurice (Etta), Jim (Nellie) and Eddie Corrigan. John J. Rioux Peacefully at the Garden Home on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, of John J. Rioux of Charlottetown, formerly of Bathurst, N.B., age 100 years. Loving husband to Rachel (nee Sirois) Rioux of Mont-Joli, Québec. Loving father of his two daughters, Gisèle (Dr. José N. Matta) of Arizona and Suzanne, formerly of Montreal; and of his three sons, Guy, Serge Donald of Québec and Andre (Eileen Murphy) of Summerside. He is sadly missed by his two grandsons, Sebastien of Montréal and Philip of Edmonton, AB. Also surviving are his sisters, Agnès, Antoinette (Louis Aubé), Thérèse, Bathurst; and Elzire, Moncton; and his brothers, Napoléon (Zita Doucette), Moncton; Cléophas (Evelyn), Charlottetown; and Roland, Fredericton, N.B. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Margaret Cripps, St. John, N.B.; Thérèse Langlois, Québec; Therese Belland, Québec; by his brother-in-law, Paul Sirois (Jeannine Marcheterre) of Quebec and a number of nieces and nephews. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment later in Bathurst, N.B. No visitation by request.
