Fille de feu Gaspard et de feu Délicia (née Savignac) Perreault. Épouse bien- aimée depuis 55 ans d'Ernest Levac de Sturgeon Falls. Mère de Jacques (Claudette) de Huntsville, Marc (Diane) de Sudbury et Réjean (Shannon) d'Edmonton. Grand maman de Mélanie, Gilles, Nicole, Danielle, Eric, Justin et James. Arrière- grand-mère d'Alex et de Seanna. Lui survivent également ses frères Maurice (Ginette) de Montréal, Vital (Laurence) de Sturgeon Falls, ses soeurs Simone Valade (feu Johnny) de Sturgeon Falls et Solange Perreault de Sudbury. Prédécédée par ses frères Roger (Rose de Sturgeon Falls), Rhéal (Evelyne de Windsor), Léonard (Denise de Chelmsford), René (Cécile de Montréal) et par sa soeur Thérèse Lavergne (Aldebert de Sturgeon Falls). Germaine était une enseignante et directrice d'école dans la région de Sudbury pendant de nombreuses années, entre-autres à l'école Nolin, Sudbury et l'école St. Marc, Markstay. Dans ses moments de loisirs, elle aimait jouer au bridge et pratiquer la danse en ligne. THERRIEN, Rene Joseph - In loving memory of Rene Joseph Therrien, 83 years, who passed away Monday, May 11th, 2009 at the SRH - Laurentian Site. Rene was born in Mattawa. He was a longtime Cartier resident where he married Kathleen (Bentley) in 1947. He had been a carman with the CPR for 43 years retiring in 1991. He was an avid sports fan especially for the Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Canadiens. A proud Canadian, he served his country in WWII. Rene will be remembered as a kind, gentle and caring gentleman. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Bentley) Therrien predeceased 2007. Loving father of Marlene Landry (Rene) both predeceased, Phyllis Bujold predeceased (Donald of Ottawa). Cherished Poppa of Derek, Perry, Craig, Jody, Darin, Shane, and great grandchildren Kayla, Kory, Erin, Carson, Brianna, Tristan, Callie and Gage. The death of Ambrose Clair McCullum, companion of Millie Dickie of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at his late residence at the age of 79. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Clair and Memory (Muzzerall) McCullum. Ambrose was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and was retired from City of Miramichi as a heavy equipment operator. Besides, Millie, Ambrose is survived by: two daughters: Shirley Saunders (James) of Nelson,NB; Brenda Kelly (Arthur) of Toronto, ON; one son: Ross (Violet) of Toronto, ON; four sisters: Evelyn Sherrard of Strathadam, NB; Veronica Verriski, Carol Lee (Robert), Rose Campbell all of Miramichi, NB; two brothers: Joseph of Miramichi, NB; Eric (Joanne) of Salisbury, NB; grandchildren: Emmanuel, Sonia, Kimberly, Danny, Shauna; great grandchildren: Cody, Sophie, Rebecca, Matthew, Madison, Kamryn, Dax and Jett and many other extended family members. Besides his parents: Ambrose is predeceased by: sister: Susan; brother: James and brother in law: Allan Sherrard. The family received visitors at Bell's Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, on Wednesday at 11 AM with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Organist Mary Butler was assisted by the Church Choir. Readers were: Erica McCallum and Megan Dickie; Prayers of the Faithful by Candance Sherrard and Rebecca Stewart. Eulogy was given by Jimmy Dickie and a poem was read by Kelsey McEachern; Guitar duet; Megan and Rebecca Stewart. Honorary Pallbearers were: Phyllis Vick and Stewart Thompson, Mary and Royce Clark, Eleanor Furlotte and Randy Hoffman, Marion Breau and David Tompkins, Tom and Marg McLenaghan and Elaine and Eric Lavoie. Active Pallbearers were: Billy Sherrard, Jimmy Dickie, Christopher Stewart, Jim Dickie, Mannie Saunders and Mike Lavoie. Burial followed in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. Raymond Gamblin Raymond Gamblin of Perth-Andover, NB passed away at Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital on June 14, 2009. Born in Carlingford, NB on October 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Samuel and Laversa (Philbrook) Gamblin. Raymond leaves behind his wife of 60 years Madeleine (Theriault) Gamblin; his daughters Mary (Ed) Heacock of Edmonton, AB, Ann (Jon) Tait of Woodstock, Edith (Terry) Doucette of Burntland Brook; his sons Terry (Kris) Gamblin of New Maryland, John (Brenda) Gamblin of Jasper, AB, Douglas (Mary Ella) Gamblin of Victoria, BC; sisters Mary, Edith, and Phyllis; half-sisters Sonya and Laurie; half-brothers Sam, Winston and Maurice and several grandchildren, great grandchildren. Funeral service was held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 11 am from Trinity Anglican Church. Rev. Bonnie LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. Loving father of Carmel (Gary) Tudhope of Niagara Falls and Mona (Tim) O'Brien. Loving grandfather of Ashleigh, Meaghan, Lindsay, Patrick and Michelle. Bernie will be sadly missed by Gisele (Roland 2004) Boudreau, Denis, Sylvie (Carlo) Geonet, by his nephew Urban, his nieces Nancy and Betty O'Brien and by his family in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Montreal, Boston and Welland. Predeceased by his brother Howard (Martha) Breen and his sister Doris O'Brien all of Nova Scotia. Bernie was born in Havre Boucher, Nova Scotia. Dear son of the late Joseph and Florence (DeCoste) Breen. Bernie was a Royal Canadian Navy Veteran. He served five years in Canada and over seas in the Second World War. Bernie was a Master Mechanic at Domtar Fine Paper in Toronto for over 15 years and at Domtar St. Catharines for over 18 years. Bernie was also a long time parishioner at St. Alfred's Church. LONG, Lola Margaret - After a long full life Lola passed away in her 76th year on June 19th, 2009. She was a pioneer of the first ladies rowing team of St. Catharines, leading the way for many young women to follow in her footsteps. Lola was a long time member of St. John's Anglican Church in Port Dalhousie prior to moving to Niagara Falls. Lola will be forever in the heart of her little sister LeRoyna Crawford (Leslie) of Tennessee. Lola was involved in the raising of her lovely niece and nephew and was often referred to as their second mother. She will be sadly missed by the two of them and their families, niece Robin Orlikowski (Billy) and their daughter Payton of Grand Rapids, MI., and nephew Darren Crawford (Kim) and their son Carson and daughter MacKenzie of Goodlettsville, TN. She is predeceased by her parents LeRoy and Margaret (nee Conlon) Long. According to Lola's wishes, a private service will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold where she will be in her final resting place with her father. LUMSDEN, Peter - Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, June 22, 2009 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. After a long and storied life, and some recent health struggles, Peter was overcome by a week long illness and passed suddenly and peacefully. Peter was 70 years old and is survived by his loving and caring saint of a wife Delia (Susan - to many), son Jeff (Cindy) of Chicago, and daughter Jennifer (Blair) Katool of St. Catharines. Peter was extremely proud of the exploits of his four grandsons, James Lumsden, Ryan Lumsden, Kurt Katool and Kevin Katool. Peter is survived by his brother Walter, sister-in-law Helen Lumsden and brother-in- law Ron Ralph. Predeceased by his sister Joyce Ralph of Ancaster. After many years in the automotive sales business, Peter developed a local Car and Truck Rental business in the Niagara area. Peter was known to many as a helpful, generous and sincere friend that was always true to his word. He was a dedicated and recognized Rotarian and a member of the St. Catharines Club. He led a truly happy life and could not go anywhere without meeting and greeting a familiar face. Cremation has taken place. Arthur Frederick George of Sackville, NB announces his passing on Sunday, June 14th at the Moncton City Hospital. Artie was born in Midgic, NB, April 29th, 1922, the only son of the late Alice (Cook) and Russell George. He was a World War II veteran having served with the 65th Tank Transport in England, France, Belguim, Holland and Germany. Returning home in 1945, he was a guard at Dorchester Penitentiary until 1950 when he joined the C.N. Police in Moncton retiring in 1979. An active member of the Sackville Legion and C.N. Pensioners Club, he enjoyed many lasting friendships. His love of people, travel and adventure saw Betty and he travelling across Canada and many other countries, always returning with great stories. His family will cherish memories of his love of life, humour and infectious laugh. PURDMAA , Johannes (John) March 25, 1923 - June 22, 2009 Johannes (John) Purdmaa of Calgary passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009 at the age of 86 years. John died peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in the presence of loved ones. John was born in Estonia. He met his beloved wife Senta in wartime and they were married in England before coming to Canada in 1951. Here they raised three children. John worked at Field Aviation for thirty-six years before retiring. A highly skilled craftsman and perfectionist, John was passionate about rebuilding cars. A strong but gentle man, John will be lovingly remembered by all those who knew him. John is survived by his children Tom (Jolanta) Purdmaa and Ellen (Larry) Murphy. BROOKES , Roy Boulton January 4, 1926 - June 20, 2009 Roy, a devoted father, grandfather and great- grandfather, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the age of 83 years. Roy was born in Lethbridge, AB but, was raised in the Fort Macleod area living on an L.N.I.D. farm. After graduating from High School he joined the Armed Forces in WWII in Canada. After the war he graduated from Garbutts Business College in Lethbridge, he then moved to Calgary to pursue his lifetime career in the investment business. Roy worked for Royal Securities, Merril-Lynch and then, with Wood-Gundy until his retirement. Roy was well-known and respected in the business community for his integrity. Having enjoyed his youth in the Boy Scout movement as a Cub and Scout, he spent over fifty years volunteering for Scouts Canada in many capacities, the highlight being National President from 1982 to 1984. The Scout Motto "Be Prepared" was upheld throughout his life. Roy was a past president of the Calgary Gyro Club, enjoyed playing golf as a member of Canyon Meadows, fishing, travelling and winters in Indio, California. He was a "country boy" at heart and he spent many happy days in the country with his buddies hunting upland game birds. The "Shack" at Patricia, AB could tell many stories. Roy's fondest memories were those of his family. Roy is survived by his loving wife of twelve days short of sixty years, Margaret (Peggy); his children, Janice (Dwayne) and Richard (Dawn); grandchildren Margaret (Michael) Kelbert and Penny Walker and great-grandchildren David, Sammuel and Amelia Kelbert; his sisters Audrey Kneale (Harry) of Sechelt, B.C. and Barbara Brookes of Calgary and many extended family. Roy was predeceased by his parents Walter and Bertha Brookes. "A loved one from us has gone, a voice we love is stilled, a place is vacant in our home, which never will be filled." GARSIDE, Sophia - We regret to announce the passing of Sophia, May 28, 2009 in Kitchener, ON following a lengthy illness. Sophia was cremated in Kitchener as she requested with interment of her ashes in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery with her twin sisters to take place at a later date. OXLAND , Eleanor Marcia Eleanor Evans was born in Bellingham, Washington to Millard and Edna Evans May 17, 1917. She grew up on the Evans homestead three miles west of Acme. When she was five years old, she started school at Lorne, later attending at Lilydale and Acme schools. She finished high school and completed two years of Normal School in Calgary, later teaching in some of the same schools she had attended as a child - Lorne and Lilydale. She also taught at Irricana and Delburne and it was while she was in Delburne that she met Victor Oxland. There they enjoyed skating at the local rink and on Pine Lake. Mom and Dad were married on October 9, 1943 and lived on Dad's family farm near Delburne for three years. They moved to Acme in 1946, just at the time when their first child, David, was to arrive. Twin girls came along in 1949. In addition to caring for her young family, Mom studied and taught music. When, in 1963, a teacher was needed for her favourite age group, Grade One, she filled the vacancy. She especially delighted in teaching the little ones to read. She taught for nine years in that position. Later, she and Dad went on some wonderful trips - to Europe many times as well as to Australia and the Orient. Mom loved birds and the beauty of nature and was an avid gardener. She was a life-long Christian Scientist, attending services since she was a child. Later she taught and played hymns in the Sunday School and served a term as a reader. She is survived by her children David (Jane), Sidney, B.C., Joy (Glenn) Sawyer and Gay (Richard) Farmer and four grandchildren, Tobi Danford, Matt Sawyer, Jordan (Bonnie) Farmer and Carsen (Evie) Farmer. She passed away on June 19, in the Linden Nursing Home where she had been living for the last four years. A Memorial Service will be held on July 2, at 11:00 a.m., Acme Anglican Church.
