RIDEOUT, Ernest (Ernie) E. Veteran RCAF, 1941-1944 Nov 2nd, 1920 - June 9th, 2009. Passed away peacefully at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre in Ottawa. Ernie was born in Grand Falls, NB, the eldest of eleven children. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary (Hitchcock) Rideout, his sister Mary Emily and his brothers Walker, Samuel, Hallam, Hurlow, Frank and David. Survived by brother Donald and sister Elizabeth (both of Fredericton, NB.) and sister Roberta (Erdenheim, PA.) Remembered with love by his many nieces and nephews and their children and by his many friends and acquaintances. Ernie served in England with the RCAF from 1941 through 1944 as an aircraft mechanic with the 406 Lynx squadron. After the war he graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bch. of Science in Forestry and worked as a forester until his retirement from the federal government. His interests included hunting and fishing and he was past director of the Ottawa Bridge Club. His greatest pleasure in life was the company of others and will be fondly remembered as a kind and caring friend to all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ottawa 2 East at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre for their excellent compassionate and supportive care. A memorial service will be held at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, 1750 Russell Road, on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 1:00 pm., followed by a visitation at the Guy L. O'Regan Funeral Home Grand Falls, N.B. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Baptist Cemetery in Ortonville, N.B. CYPIHOT, Gloria 1934 - 2009 We regret to announce the passing of Gloria Cypihot, at the age of seventy-five years at the Lakeshore General Hospital. She graduated from the Ste-Mary's school of nursing in 1956 and was evening supervisor until her retirement. She was well respected by her peers and will be deeply missed by her friends of Holy Family Church. Gloria was the daughter of the late Helene Trudeau and the late Henri Cypihot. HAWKINS , Harvey May 24, 1921 - June 9, 2009 In May, 1940, at age nineteen Harvey joined the Army Calgary Highlanders. He was discharged in 1946, he served overseas in the 11th Provo Corp. in England, France, Belgium and Holland until June 1944, remembered as D4. Many have said he was the kindest man they ever knew. He devoted his entire life to doing for others especially his twin daughters, the freedom of his country and all those he knew. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by too many to mention. He is survived by his daughters: Sharon Hawkins and Sheila Seweryn, two brothers: Norman (Joan), Ken (Joyce) and their families. Harvey was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bernice, his parents Albert and Dorothy and his younger brother Earl Hawkins (WWII Italy 1943). Born August 19, 1919 in La Union, Philippines, Caridad immigrated to Canada in 1981. McAULEY , Ardele Leone September 21, 1944 - June 10, 2009 Ardele Leone McAuley, beloved wife of Bob of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the age of 64 years. Ardele grew up in Pincher Creek, AB and obtained her Grade 10 in piano while going to school there. She attended the Banff School of Fine Arts and received her B.Ed., majoring in Music, from the University of Alberta in 1968. She taught school in Edmonton and Calgary and was loved by her students, coworkers and many friends. Her piano playing, both classical and popular, was a joy to listen to and her cheerful laugh made everyone around her happy. She volunteered as a piano player in the kindergarten at Captain John Palliser School where her children attended, and at other functions when needed. She liked to garden, knit and was a great homemaker. She will be sadly missed by her loved ones. Ardele leaves to mourn, her husband Bob; sons, Robert, Christopher and Jonathan of Calgary; sister Jean (Hank) Kirby of Comox, BC; cousins Ginny (Norm) Reed of Pincher Creek, AB and Jo Anne (Wally) Momsen of Nanaimo, BC; and numerous extended family and friends. Well loved, admired and respected, Ruth Neustadt left this earth quietly September 27, 2008. She leaves behind her children Beverley (Bob) Galamaga, Janis Ansell, and her son David Neustadt. Ruth was very fond of her grandchildren Jason (Alexis) Galamaga, Chelsey and Amy Ansell and Ethan and Noah Neustadt, as well as her great-grandchildren Matthew, Bennett and Claire Galamaga. Ruth was an endless source of encouragement and advice to all of her family and she always had kind words for everyone. Throughout her later life she often spoke of her wonderful husband Frank who passed away many years earlier. Ruth had a full life. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto, being President of the National Council of Jewish Women in Calgary, a Life Master of Bridge, an accomplished pianist, and an avid reader, she kept herself busy. She loved her winters in her beautiful condo in Florida and enjoyed many simchas with family and friends. Her family will always miss her, remember her, and love her. PETONJIC , Nevenka March 5, 1946 - June 10, 2009 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Nevenka Petonjic of Calgary, passed away at Chinook Hospice surrounded by her family on June 10, 2009 at the age of 63 years. Nevenka was born March 5, 1946 in Bosnia. She immigrated to Canada in 1967 to make a new life for herself. She married her husband Luka in 1969 and they had just celebrated their fortieth anniversary in February. Together they had one son Frank, and two daughters, Janet and Rose. Her passions in life were always for her family, cooking, gardening, walking and swimming. She fought her battle with cancer with strength, determination and the will to live. Nevenka is also survived by her granddaughters Madison and Jadzia; son-in-law Jack Rogers; brothers Bogdan Vasic of Nanaimo, BC, Dragan Vasic of Calgary, Stevo of Bosnia; sisters Borka and Sava of Serbia; and nieces and nephews of Calgary. SHANTZ , Dorothy December 16, 1909 - June 5, 2009 Dorothy Shantz, born in Didsbury, December 16, 1909, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on June 5, 2009. Dorothy grew up in Acadia Valley and began teaching in 1935 near Sibbald as well as Rosemary, Peace River, Edmonton, Calgary, England and Brazil. She retired in Calgary in 1971 after forty-six years. A life-long teacher, her fondest memory was teaching children to read. She gave many years to summer camps teaching crafts, Bible and nature studies. Along with her pursuit of her BEd degree, she was very involved in her church, teaching Sunday School and Pioneer Girls. Her garden in Briar Hill won trophies and prizes and she was very generous with the results of her work. After retiring Dorothy traveled extensively, was very involved in volunteering with hospital visits and driving patients for cancer treatment. Throughout her long life, she exemplified a life of giving and service. She was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Katie Shantz, sister Loretta (Lew) Baillie, brother Harold (Zita) Shantz, sister-in-law Adeline Shantz and brother-in-law Lawrence Richardson. She leaves to mourn, her sister Violet Richardson, brother Glen Shantz, and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Bow View Manor for their excellent care. SINCLAIR , John Cameron (Cam) July 20, 1957 - June 8, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Cam Sinclair at the Palliative Care wing of the Foothills Hospital, Unit 45 on Monday, June 8. A proud Calgarian, Cam grew up in Spruce Cliff. He attended Spruce Cliff Elementary, Vincent Massey Jr. High, Melville Scott Jr. High, Ernest Manning High School and the University of Calgary, in all of which he excelled academically. During the past thirty years he was involved in various applications of the survey business throughout N.W. USA and Canada with his CBS Survey Company. Cam was predeceased by his grandparents Cameron and Agnes Sinclair and John and Tina Andruschuk, his mother Irene Sinclair and her birth mother Nell Filipenko, his uncle Douglas Sinclair and aunts and uncles, Tom and Lil Andruschuk and Hilmer and Ann Heggen, and nephew James Nicholson. Cam is survived by his father Donald C. Sinclair, sister Jan Nicholson and brother Scott Sinclair and wife Marie, much loved niece and nephew, Celina and Lachlan. He is also remembered by cousins Dave and Dawna Sinclair and family, Rob Sinclair and Nick and Heather Wieler and their mother Clementine; cousins Rick and Pat Andruschuk and family and Mike and Sue Ridewood and family of Invermere and Calgary respectively; joined, with the extended family of Filipinkos, Robertsons, Hendersons, Booths, Hunters, Robostans and Sinclairs to complete the cousins picture. CHARRON, Florence (nee Lalancette) - In loving memory of Florida (Florence) Charron (nee Lalancette) who passed away on Monday, June 8th at the age of 95. Daughter of the late Marguerite (Belanger) and Elzear Lalancette and stepmother Denise Auger. Predeceased by her husband Albert Charron, brothers Ed, Eugene (Pete), Fred and Bill, sisters Lucille, Lorette, Emma and step-sister Simone. Florence is survived by her loyal and loving daughter Jeannine McGauley (James predeceased). She is also survived by her step-brother Gaston Lalancette (Pauline) and her step-sister Renee Cholette (George predeceased). Lovingly remembered by her four devoted grandchildren: Laurie, Lisa (Gerry), Vickie (Scott) and Chris. She was extremely proud of her seven great-grandchildren: Jesse (Colleen), Meghan, Kyle (Brittany), Josh, Jenna, Max and Sam. In the last two years of her life, Florence was blessed to have made the acquaintance of her great-great granddaughter Madeleine. Florence was born in 1913 and raised on a farm on Lasalle Blvd and she loved to tell stories of her life back then. Florence was only 5 when her mother died in the flu pandemic of the early part of the century. She remembered as a small child being amazed at the number of horses and cutters winding down what is now Lasalle Blvd., bringing friends and neighbours to the farm to pay their respects at her mother's funeral. She was one of the last of a generation of hardworking pioneers who saw so many changes in their lifetimes. She and Albert were married for 66 years and they spent many fine summer days at their camp on Lake Penache trolling for lake trout. Florence will be remembered for her great strength and generosity. The family wishes to thank the staff on the 5th floor of York Extendicare for their care and kindness. We salute you and the wonderful and important work that you do everyday. A private family service will be held this summer to honour Florence's life. Friends and family may make a donation to the Salvation Army on her behalf. CLAVET, Denis - In loving memory of Denis Clavet, 46 years, who passed away after a valiant 4 year battle with cancer on Thursday, June 11th, 2009 at the SRH - Laurentian Site. Beloved husband of Angela (Chauvin) Clavet of Sudbury. Loving father of Renee (friend John) of Iqaluit, Andree and Manon of Dowling, and stepfather of Justin of Sudbury and Richard at home. Dear son of Jeannine (Simard) Clavet of Gatineau, QC and the late Herve Clavet. Dear brother of Joanne Demers (husband Guy) of Gatineau, QC and Alain Clavet (Chantale) of Chelmsford. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews and many friends. Born in Geraldton on December 21st, 1962, he worked for many years as a miner with FNX Mining retiring in 2004 due to health reasons. What brought the greatest joy was the time he was able to spend with family and friends fishing at Penage. Another passion of Denis' was fast and beautiful cars - especially his own. STUART, Flora Macdonald (nee Cockburn) - Peacefully at St Josephs Villa, Sudbury on Wednesday, June 10 at the age of 92 years. Flora married John “Jack” Stuart, (predeceased) o f North Bay, in 1940. Dear mother of Peter, Susan and Ruth (Peter Moore) and loving Super Gran of Calum and Heather (John Panteleit) and Great Gran of Ryan, Jack and Kate. Born in Sturgeon Falls to Roy and Agnes Cockburn, and sister to Lois (Vern Hopper), Jack (Mickey), George (Yvette), Isabel (Pat Merchant), Walter (Lena), Angus (Laurette), Malcolm (Kip), and Bill (Carmen). She is survived by her loving brother Jack, and in- laws Lena, Yvette, and Pat, and will be sadly missed by many dozens of nieces, nephews and extended family. Flora actively supported John in his work with the Credit Union movement around the world. She travelled extensively, both in her early marriage and later in life, and greatly enjoyed living in London, England and roaming Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. At the same time she held close her family, and loved her home in Sturgeon Falls, Sudbury and the islands of Lake Nipissing. Along the way she became a great hostess and a heck of a cook. Les funérailles auront lieu le lundi 15 juin 2009 à 14 h à l'église St-Dominique. Les cendres de Mme Laforge seront déposées au columbarium St-Dominique. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Maude Gagné, Claude (Hope Renes), Jean-Paul, Bertrand, Céline, Denise, feu Maurice, feu Normand, feu Denis; ses petits-enfants: Denis (José Perron), Isabelle, Nathalie; ses arrière-petits-enfants: Audrey-Ann, Félix, Justin, Raphaël, Rebecca. Elle était la soeur de: Marguerite Laforge, Mathilda, feu Léontine (feu Elie St-Gelais), feu Jeanne-d'Arc (feu Charles-Henri Corneau), feu Raoul, feu Jean-Baptiste, feu Albert. Elle était la belle-soeur de: Jean-Marie Gagné (Thérèse Morin), feu Roland, feu Sr Lucille Gagné, feu Yvette (feu Pierre Fortin), feu Madeleine (feu Antoine Ferris), feu Marthe. Elle laisse également dans le deuil de nombreux neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Au nom de la famille, un merci spécial à Mme Marcelle Beaulieu pour sa présence avec Denise dans les derniers moments de Mme Laforge ainsi qu'à Jean-Paul pour avoir donné son soutien quotidien dans les dernières années de sa mère. Une personne bénévole sera présente au salon afin de recueillir vos dons en faveur du Fonds de dotation Santé Jonquière.
