PRIDHAM, Walter Howard RAF Veteran WWII Passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the age of 85. Howard was born in Ottawa, graduated from University of Toronto and practiced optometry for almost four decades. FORD-ROBICHEAU, James Wayne James Wayne Ford-Robicheau born June 6, 1947, in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Passed away peacefully at home in Ottawa on April 4, 2009. His wife Elizabeth was at his side. He is predeceased by his father James Cecil Robicheau, mother Virginia Robicheau (nee Blades) and sisters Mildred and Yvonne. He will be missed by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Alys Ford and son-in-law Eric Struxness. Wayne's four legged "fur baby Sparkey" the dog, is also missing Wayne. There are many family and friends in Nova Scotia and Ontario who will miss Wayne and his love of life. BONALDO, Gildo - Passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, May 28, 2009. He was surrounded by the love of his beloved family and is now with God and with his dear wife Graziosa who predeceased him 15 months ago (Feb. 2008). Gildo was in his 86th year and was the loving father of Marcella and her husband Brian Mulligan of Niagara Falls, Marisa and her husband Dave Phillips, Rick and his wife Michele Bonaldo of Guelph. His grandchildren meant the world to him and Nono will be dearly missed by Jeffrey and his wife Melissa Mulligan, Jennifer Mulligan, Michael and Kyle Phillips, Gabriel, Andre and Nicole Bonaldo. Gildo was the son of the late Secondo and Marcellina Bonaldo, eldest brother of Gianni and his wife Lidia Bonaldo, Anna and the late Angelo Guerin of Niagara Falls, sisters Aurora and her husband Santin Pinton, Angela and the late Carlin Petrin and Teresa and her husband Benito Bressan of Italy. Gildo was the brother-in-law of, Joe Bellon and his wife Deloris Gino Bellon and his wife Lidia of Guelph, Gabriella Bonaldo, Assunta Passinato and her husband Carlo, Angela and the late Severino Bellon, Albino Bellon and his wife Bruna of Italy. He was predeceased by his brother Marcello Bonaldo and by his sister Suor Fiorenza Bonaldo. Special cousin of Luigi and Bernardina Bonaldo of Guelph. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, special friends and family in Canada and Italy. Gildo will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Nono and dear friend and neighbor. He worked hard his entire life beginning at the early age of 12 years old in Piedmonte, Italy. Gildo immigrated to Niagara Falls, Canada with his new wife of one year in 1951 where they began their life together. He moved the family to Guelph in 1959 and was the first to settle on the unforgettable Joseph Street. He dedicated his life to his love of family, his amazing garden and wonderful “eggs“. He reduced his carbon footprint long before it was in fashion to do so . . . reducing, reusing and recycling everything!! He will be forever remembered and loved. SIMONEAU, William 1921 - 2009 Born on May 19, 1921 in Rockland, Ontario, Bill passed away peacefully at Heritage Village in Chilliwack, BC on May 21. CLANCY, Lydena Jane 2009-05-30 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lydena Jane Clancy. Dene was born April 5, 1918 in Stoughton, Sask. She completed public and high school in Stoughton and then moved to Port Arthur, Ontario in 1938 where she found work at the Can Car Foundry and was a riveter (Rosie the Riveter Gals) during the war years. It was there she met and married Melville Rogers Moore, in 1948 with son Douglas and daughter Karen they moved to a new pulp & paper town, Terrace Bay, Ontario. There was no highway to Terrace Bay and at the time everything was brought to the town by railway which bonded all the early families together. In 1952 she lost her husband Mel Moore and later met and married Jim Clancy in 1956. Upon their retirement in 1982 Jim & Lydena moved to Kelowna, B.C. where they resided until Jim‘s passing in 2007. Lydena was an honorary member of the Terrace Bay Curling Club, Royal Canadian Legion and the Ruby Rebecca Lodge. Dene is survived by her son Douglas Moore of Thunder Bay, Ontario, grandsons Peter and Charles (Kyla) and great granddaughter Carmen; sisters Edna Maitland and Ruby Coombs both of Calgary; brothers-in-law Bill (Elaine) and Don Clancy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John & Margaret McGregor, husbands, Melville Moore and James Clancy, daughter Karen, sisters Venus and Madia and by her brothers Roy, Ken and John. A Memorial Service will be held at Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Road, Kelowna on Monday, June 1st, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. PATTERSON, Maynard H. “Pat” - age 93, of Roseville died on May 20 after a brief illness. He was a lion of a man who will not be forgotten by any who knew him. Maynard was born on February 24, 1916, in the remote village of Gaspe, Quebec. His father was a woodsman and fisherman, and the family used a horse or dogsled for transportation. Maynard excelled in everything he undertook. After his father's untimely death when Maynard was 7 years old, he earned his keep with relatives during the summers by tending their gardens, where his hard work and attentiveness made him a welcome visitor. Upon taking his first fulltime job as a messenger boy at AT&T headquarters in New York in order to support his mother and sister, he was quickly promoted to page in the office of the president who, impressed with his young employee's acumen and diligence, arranged for Maynard to receive a full scholarship to Lehigh University. Maynard never forgot that gift, passing it along to others whom he assisted in obtaining education or employment. After earning his B.S. in metallurgical engineering, he was employed by Crucible Steel Company, where he supervised the forging of battleship gun barrels and other critical ordnance. In his later years, he reminisced about romance of this job more than any other. He soon joined the the U. S. Army as a Second Lieutenant. Rising to the rank of Captain, he served at the Philadelphia Ordnance Depot, distinguishing himself as chief of the Tank- Automotive branch, responsible for production and shipping of tanks for the European theater. His commanding officer thought so highly of him that he convinced Maynard to come to work for him at Canadian Durex Abrasives in Brantford, Ontario after the war as chief engineer and Secretary. When Durex became part of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, Maynard became Vice President, General Manager and Director of 3M Canada. During the 25-year span of his 3M career, Maynard rose to the position of Vice President and General Manager of all 3M international operations. He was elected to the 3M board of directors in 1965. He traveled extensively throughout the world, exploring market opportunities and opening 3M subsidiaries in 14 countries. At the time of his death, he was the last living person to serve in an executive capacity with 3M founder William McKnight. Maynard retired from 3M in 1971 and with his wife, the former Irma Lanterman, built his dream home on Big Bass Lake in northern Minnesota, where they lived until 2006. A passionate outdoorsman, he knew every inch of his woods, where he hunted grouse and deer. Maynard was an avid fisherman, a sport he and Irma enjoyed together for many years. (Irma would like to add that she always outfished him.) He made annual fishing trips to Canada with Irma, son Bruce and friends Dan Peterson and Boyce Hardy, stocking the family freezer with walleye and northern. Maynard was also an accomplished cabinetmaker, furnishing the lake house with many beautiful and finely made pieces. His mind was as active as his hands, driven by an ongoing curiosity about world events, new technologies, and the behavior of the fauna and flora inhabiting his property. In addition to Irma, Maynard is survived by his sister, Audrey Mullison of Charlotte, NC; daughter Donna Long; sons Brian (Denise Wilder), Steven, and Bruce (Mari Zarcone); grandchildren Douglas Patterson, Becca Justiniano, David Long, Jeffrey Patterson, and Alexander McHugh; and four great-grandchildren. GASH, Georgina 2009-05-30 It is with heavy hearts that we are sad to announce the passing of a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Mrs. Georgina Marie Gash (Perrier) on Friday, May 22 at the age of 78 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a long term illness. Living life to the fullest was Mom‘s goal. She always believed that you should “Live, Laugh & Love” to keep your heart full. Mom was a great cook, from her shortbread cookies at Christmas to her perogies and cabbage rolls and would always cook for an army. She was a true lady, always taking pride in whatever she was doing. Always willing to give a helping hand even when she really couldn‘t. Always thinking of others before herself. She was a hard worker from a young lady waitressing at the Princess Hotel to being assistant to the Cook for the men at the bush Camps. She was a very gifted lady in working with Flowers & Crafts. In the late 60‘s she worked for LeCoques Florists. She left as Head Floral Designer to raise her family. She always enjoyed being Hostess to family and social functions, cooking big spreads, having family BBQ‘s. Family was very important to mom, she was close to everyone. She touched many peoples hearts, we are at a great loss. Mom was an angel on earth, now she is an Angel in Heaven watching over us. Georgina is survived by her loving husband Tony Gash, daughter Charlotte (Bougie), son Anthony Gash, grandchildren Charis & Cody Bougie, brother Ron (Rika) Perrier, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Georgina was predeceased by her father Leo Perrier, mother Lorretta (Berube) Perrier, by sisters Marjory Schumacher, Phyliss Stokes, Dorothy Morriss, June Klimkowski, Bernadette Soares and brothers Peter Perrier, Donald Perrier and Leon Perrier. Cremation has taken place. Interment to take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
