TITUS, James “Jim“ - passed away Thursday April 30, 2009 at the Chatham- Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus. Jim was born in Chatham 61 years ago to his parents Lorne and Mae (Siddall) Titus. He is survived by his loving wife Carmen (Harris) Titus of Blenheim and by his children Eric and Marla Titus of Ottawa, Daniel Titus of Michigan, David Hunter and Andrea Gunraj of Toronto and Susan Hunter and Craig Cybulski of Ottawa. Also surviving is a grand daughter Kate-Lin Osborne of Courtland. Jim is also survived by his sister's Patty Caissie and Cathy Mills and by brothers Larry Titus, Lorne Titus, Jack Titus and Tom Titus. In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his sister Tammy Titus. JOHNSTON, Lawrence Stanley Clarence - Passed away peacefully at Chateau Gardens in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Thursday, April 30, 2009 in his 90th year. Husband to Ruth for 56 years, father to six (Faye, Margaret, Bill, Janet, Doug and Gord), and grandfather to Donald, Duncan, Tom and Cameron, he will be missed. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Lawrence worked for most of his life in the refrigeration/air conditioning field, a career that found him residing in several locations in southern Ontario, including Niagara Falls from 1952-63, and Brantford from 1969- 2006. He was a Flying Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII as a bomber pilot, and flew missions overseas. While he rarely spoke of his experience in the war until his later years, by all accounts, he was very highly regarded by those who served under him. Even as he struggled with the effects imposed by Alzheimer's over the past decade, he will always be remembered for his quick sense of humour, his love of music, his dancing skills in earlier years, and his ingenuity with all things mechanical. He leaves behind a rich lifetime of memories. The family thanks the staff of the 3rd floor at Chateau Gardens for all their compassion and care shown to Lawrence. Jacqueline "Jackie" Johnston July 25, 1935 - April 27, 2009 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Jackie Johnston at the age of 73 years on Monday, April 27, 2009 with her family by her side. Jackie was predeceased by her parents Germaine and Dominique Monette. Jackie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Allen of 53 years, and her wonderful children, Dale (Karen) Johnston, Sam (Brian) Young, Deborah (Trevor) Wenzel, Roger (Judy) Johnston and Scott Johnston; brothers Art (Cindy) Monette, Romeo Monette and her sister Sr. Jocelyn Monette. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, great grand children, niece’s and nephews. Jackie was born at Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan, July 25, 1935. She was educated in Gravelbourg. Jackie and Allen moved to Saskatoon in 1955. She worked at the Saskatoon Club for 23 years. Jackie loved family get togethers. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and reading romance novels. Jackie was an Avid Roughrider fan. There will be a viewing on Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th street turn right before railway tracks). Mr. J. Leandre " Leon" Cormier February 10, 1930 - April 27, 2009 J. Leandre “Leon” Cormier of Shediac passed away at the Villa Providence on April 27th, 2009. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Alyre and Nelida Cormier. Leon retired as an air traffic controller, he loved to travel and was a well known musician, having played in many bands throughout New Brunswick. He is survived by his first wife Stella Cormier (Gould), daughters; Gisele Goguen, Claire Robichaud (Norbert), son Charles Cormier (Monique), sisters; Gloria Cormier, Rosela Melanson (Norman), Lucielle Robichaud (Felicien), Angela Trueman (Bernie Plumber), brothers; Gerald Cormier (Leontine), Clarence Cormier (Gloria), Emery Cormier (Susan Skerry), step-daughter Anne Duplessie and grandchildren; Christopher, Paul, Alec, Michelle and Martin. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Dr. Jean Guy Cormier and his second wife Doris Cormier (Duplessie). Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30th, from 7-9 PM. Mrs. Juliette Marie Anna Huot - April 28, 2009 - Peacefully, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, Heaven has reclaimed an angel. Juliette was predeceased by her son Edouard in 1968, her husband Adolphe in 1989, five siblings; Thérèse, Jules, Marcel, Pierre, Marcien and Maurice (in infancy). Juliette leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jacqueline, Denis (Kathe), Marcel (Sylvie), 7 grandchildren Emily, Robert (Laura), Ryan, Danielle, Christian (Kristin), Jocelyne (Mike) and Adam (Amanda), 5 great grandchildren, she is also survived by her sister Lucille (Georges) Gauthier, brother Paul as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Juliette devoted her life to family and friends. She spent 35 summers at her cottage at Albert Beach and many called her the "Lady of the Lake". Her last five years were spent at L'Accueil Colombien which she enjoyed very much. The family would like to thank the staff at HSC, GD5 ward for their care and compassion. BRISSENDEN, Daphne Joan Passed away with her family by her side at the Carleton Lodge on Thursday, April 30th, 2009 at the age of 81. She will be dearly missed by her loving and devoted husband David. Proud and loving mother of Mark (Lisa Barnes) and Karen Will (Kevin). MAHONEY, Ernest Lorne March 29, 1931 - April 28, 2009 Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, 2002 Past President Gatineau Valley Historical Society Ernie was born in Ottawa and he passed away peacefully in hospital, in Hull, Quebec on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, after a short illness. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Edward Godfrey Mahoney and Freeda Ernestine Mahoney (Larocque) and previous wife Eileen Anne Withers (Traynor). His partner, Deborah McLachlan, was a companion on Ernie's journey for many years. He will be forever missed by the families he linked together: first wife Heather Mahoney (Ottawa), mother of Robert Mahoney (Tracey Sliter, Ottawa); second wife Helen Brennan (California); Eileen's children Sarah (Keith Bennett, Toronto) and Adam Mahoney (Kendra Hurshman, Windsor, NS); and grand-children Dylan, Garrett, Connor and Sharlea Mahoney in Ottawa. He will be deeply missed by William and Phyllis McLachlan, Jan and Jon Purcell, Devon and Julianne. He attended the University of London School of Economics. He worked for the Canadian Construction Association as a senior staff member. He was the Intergovernmental Officer for the City of Ottawa and Queen's Park. His true career path blossomed as a journalist at the Low Down To Hull and Back News and the West Quebec Post. He cared deeply about his community of Wakefield and about Canada. Miss Stella "Zap" Zaporozan April 3, 1927 - April 27, 2009 82 years passed away peacefully after many challenges over the years on April 27, 2009 at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus. Survived by her beloved sister Lena Prestanski, Windsor and "Sweetie". Predeceased by parents Anna and Stephen Zaporozan, brother John and his wife Anne, and brother-in-law John Prestanski. Dear "Auntie Stella" of Dennis, Cathy, Carole, Bill and Steve and their families. Stella was a highly regarded nurse for many years, having graduated from Grace Hospital 60 years ago. In true "Zap" fashion, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Florence was a long time member and supporter of the Mindemoya United Church, a member of the UCW, the Women's Institute and the Horticultural Society. Florence was predeceased by her first husband Charles Grant Bayer in 1979. She then married Kenneth Hagen who also predeceased, in 2003. Loved and loving mother of Leila Thureson and husband Peter of Mindemoya, Karen Van Zant, husband Clyde predeceased, and Harley Bayer, wife Lorraine of Mindemoya, and predeceased by daughter Shirley Phillips and her husband Andy. Also survived by step children George Hagen and his wife Sharon of Lively, Bob Hagen and his wife Linda of Mindemoya, Don Hagen and his wife Suzanne of Alberta and Mary Beaulieu, husband Guil of Toronto and predeceased by step daughter Susan. The death of the late Dr. Charles McCammon Allan occurred on April 24, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital at the age of 81. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he was the only son of the late James and Margaret (McCammon) Allan. Charles earned his undergraduate degree in science, his medical training and a subsequent Masters in Science from McGill University. While at medical school (Class of '52), his academic achievements were recognized by the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Society, the only national medical society in the world. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). He completed his residency at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, prior to training in vascular surgery. He received further clinical training at the Montreal General Hospital, the Montreal Childrens' Hospital and the Royal Infirmary in Preston, England. Charles practiced vascular and general surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Montreal until his move in 1983 to Miramichi, NB where he continued his surgical practice until his full retirement in 2005. Upon his retirement he moved to Sackville, NB. Charles was an avid reader with wide and varied interests. He was a life long learner, with an unsurpassable quest for knowledge that sustained him throughout his lifetime. He was a talented and prolific painter and loved to share his work with family and friends. He enjoyed working with wood, initially in large construction, then more recently with beautiful heirloom dollhouses and model ships. He enjoyed the many visits from his family, and his friends and colleagues from the Miramichi and beyond during his retirement years. Survived by his five children: Nancy Burridge (Ed) of Sackville, NB, Charles (Chip) Allan (Jennifer) of London, ON, Margaret Eddy (J. Allan) of Dartmouth, NS, James Allan (Elaine Beaudoin) of Montreal, QC and Mary-Lou Sauro (Stephen) of Newton, MA. and 16 grandchildren: David, Emily and Will Burridge, Lindsay, Jacqueline, Brooke and Jamie Allan, Charles, Katherine and John Eddy, Charles, Simon, Nicholas and Melanie Allan, Abigail and Benjamin Sauro. Charles was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his five children, Joyce (Gair) Allan (1991) and his second wife, Jane Morrissy Allan (2004). Mrs. Ruth Emily Leslie October 12, 1922 - April 27, 2009 Halifax, passed away on April 27, 2009, in Northwood Centre. Born on October 12, 1922, in Grand Desert, she was a daughter of Mary Jane and Elias Conrod. She was a woman of great faith, loved bowling, crocheting, crafts and going to "T.O.P.S." with her friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Arnold; brothers, Reg, Wallace, Bertram, Clyde, Roy, Cameron, Warren; sisters, Roxy, Dora and Lucy. She will be missed by her sister, Lottie (Canning); her children, Linda (Rick), Winnipeg; Jessie (Mark), Lower Sackville; Marilyn (David), Fredericton and David (Rose), New Minas. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mrs. Dorothy Evelyn Weston April 25, 1921 - April 27, 2009 WESTON, Dorothy Evelyn 88, of Halifax, passed away peacefully Monday, April 27, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with her loving family by her side. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Ethel (MacDonald) Brunt. A faithful member of Bayers Road United Baptist Church, she was active in various church groups and a past member of West End United Baptist Church and also an active supporter of the Salvation Army. She volunteered at the old Halifax Infirmary and various other organizations. Women for Music of the Nova Scotia Symphony was also very important to her. A loving mother, grandmother and friend, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are sons, Kenneth "Ken" (Margaret) Weston, Everett "Harold" Weston, both of Halifax; brothers, Roy (Dorothy) Brunt, Edward (Phyllis) Brunt, both of Halifax; grandchildren, Tara (Dwayne) Isenor, Halifax; Holly Weston, Chicago; Cory Weston, Halifax; great-grandchild, Noah Isenor, Halifax. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Everett Weston; son, Brian in infancy and brother, Harold. Visitation will be held today from 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, at 1 p.m. in Bayers Road United Baptist Church, Rev. Mr. Albert Edward Corkum February 7, 1924 - April 26, 2009 CORKUM, Albert Edward 85, Halifax, while surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Stephen and Bertha (Oakley) Corkum. Albert was a dedicated employee of Coca Cola Limited for 43 years. Upon retirement, he chose to become involved with the Salvation Army Boothe Center, serving the homeless and less fortunate. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and a creative cook. His greatest delight was spending time with his family. After the passing of his wife Rose, and daughter Nancy, Albert continued to be the guiding support to his family. He will always be remembered as an outstanding father and friend to his daughters and their families. He is survived by daughters, Marlene (Rob) Anderson, Prince Edward Island; Kathleen (Andre) Leclerc, Charlene (Arthur) Corkum, all of Halifax; and numerous loving grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loyal pet Jessie. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Rose Corkum; daughter, Nancy Lynn Shiers; son-in-law, Gary Shiers. FLANAGAN, Joan Shirley (nee Roberts) March 31, 1935 - May 1, 2009 After a lengthy illness fought with grace, courage and dignity, we regret to announce the death of our beloved mother; wife of 46 years to the late James Flanagan, dear mother of Colleen Flanagan (Peter Maika), Karen, Ray, Patrick (Judy), Michael (Jo-Ann Kennedy), Nana to Tucker. Sister of John Roberts of Hamilton, Leslie Roberts of London, Jean Buchanan of Toronto, Gordon Roberts and Rozan Roberts both of Kingston. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Elsie Roberts and brother Raymond. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Mom was loved by many people. She shared a special relationship with Fran Stickle (nee Flanagan) and was a loving friend to Irene Kraglund and Sharon and Orville Burrell.
