MOIR, Susan G. (nee Bellinger) Passed quietly in the company of her loving husband Bryce, children Lisa and Jimm, and daughter-in-law Mandy on Wednesday morning, April 29th 2009. Little sister to Clarke and Brian Bellinger, and loving "Gamma" to Finley and Jet, Sue will be forever remembered in the stories told by the people who loved and were loved by her, and through the laughter of her grandchildren playing amongst her gardens of wildflowers at Lac Bernard. Her family would like to extend their thanks to all of those people who have helped both medically and spiritually over the years. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue, (at Richmond Road), Ottawa from 2 pm - 5 pm on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday May 3. Mr. George Martin January 23, 1938 - April 27, 2009 MARTIN, George 71, of Dartmouth, passed away on April 27, 2009, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Gertrude (Saunders) Martin. He was retired from the Boilermakers, Local 73, and Imperial Oil. He was active in the Knights of Columbus Council 11456. He volunteered at Woodside United Church Food Bank. He was a friend of Bill W. He is survived by his wife, Norma (Leger); son, Danny (Sheryl), Kingston; daughters, Vicki (Dave) Ellis, Etobicoke, Ont.; Kelly (Shawn) Doyle, Dartmouth; five grandchildren; brothers, William (Mary) Martin, Ottawa, Ont.; brother, Joe (Norma) Martin, Bridgewater; sisters, Dorothy Kiley, Ketch Harbour; Norma Thompson, Spryfield. He was predeceased by infant son, Darryl; brother, Jimmy. FLANAGAN, Joan Shirley (nee Roberts) March 31, 1935 - May 1, 2009 After a lengthy illness fought with grace, courage and dignity, we regret to announce the death of our beloved mother; wife of 46 years to the late James Flanagan, dear mother of Colleen Flanagan (Peter Maika), Karen, Ray, Patrick (Judy), Michael (Jo-Ann Kennedy), Nana to Tucker. Sister of John Roberts of Hamilton, Leslie Roberts of London, Jean Buchanan of Toronto, Gordon Roberts and Rozan Roberts both of Kingston. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Elsie Roberts and brother Raymond. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Mom was loved by many people. She shared a special relationship with Fran Stickle (nee Flanagan) and was a loving friend to Irene Kraglund and Sharon and Orville Burrell. She was a long term employee of Stenson's Grocereria and Pat's Grocery. Our heartfelt thanks to our dear cousin Joanie for her kind and compassionate care of our mother. ARMSTRONG, Dennis 2009-05-01 Dennis Armstrong, 92 years, passed away peacefully on Apr 27, 2009, joining his beloved wife Evelyn who passed away Apr 4, 2008. Predeceased by his sister Teresa, several sisters in law and brothers in law. He leaves behind 7 children, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous in laws, nieces, nephews and 2 sisters, Evelyn and Eileen. His daughter Mary Jane Safronyck resides in Thunder Bay, daughter Karen in Burlington, his sons Mike and Alvin in Dryden, Jack in Fort Frances, Dan in Alberta, and Wayne who took over the family farm in Stratton. Known as the oldest farm in the region, Dennis farmed into his 80’s, with his loving wife Evelyn always at his side. In earlier years, he played the fiddle and saxophone in the family band The Armstrong Orchestra, known to be very popular in the region during war time, where often there would be a wedding every night of the week. Music continued to be a passion throughout Dennis’s life, an enjoyable pastime for him and Evelyn. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Funeral will take place Mon May 4, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Way Parish in Pinewood Ont. Prayers on May 3 at 7:00 PM.

Born in Saint John West on Oct. 4, 1921, Peggy was the daughter of the late Frank & Alice Swain (Carson). Peggy was a charter member of the Wm MacIntosh Chapter of the IODE, past president and member of the Carleton Curling Ladies Assoc. and former member of Westfield Golf & County Club. She also enjoyed many wonderful summers at Epworth Park and traveling. Peggy is survived by daughter Sue, Saint John, son Phillip (Christin), grandson, Armstrong and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Aldrin all of Toronto; her sisters, Katherine Powell and Frances Urquhart, nieces, nephews, cousins as well as her beloved Rosie. Bob passed away peacefully on April 20th 2009 at the West Nipissing General Hospital in the arms of his soul mate of thirty eight years, Juliette (Paquette). Bob lost his courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his loving children Carole Gagnon (Gilles) and Guy (Janus Borton). Greatest pepère on earth to Alyssa, Mathieu and George. He was predeceased by his parents Rene and Ethel (Major) and two brothers Rheo and Jeannot. Also survived by his brothers and sisters Yvon (Irene) of Verner, Urgel (Monique) of North Bay , Germain (Jocelyne), Lorraine Paquette (Michel) and Diane Ethier (Guy) all of Field, Ghislaine Bazinet (Michel) of Sturgeon Falls and Micheline Gaudette (Robert) of Kipling. At Bob's request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive family and friends from 10 am until time of funeral mass at 11 am at Resurrection Church in Sturgeon Falls on Tuesday May 5th 2009. DOUGLAS , Jacoba August 17, 1918 - April 28, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Jacoba Douglas, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, announce her passing in Calgary on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the age of 90 years. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Margaret (Frank) Van Der Meer; sons Tom (Gerry) and Jack (Carol); three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbours. REAGAN , Lisa Jean Lisa passed away at the Peter Lougheed on April 25, 2009, at the age of 24 years. She is survived by her uncle Murray Reagan, aunt Laurie Reagan, cousins, Brady, Devin and Landan Regan all of Okotoks, and aunt Judy Reagan of Calgary. She was predeceased by her mother Sandy Reagan, her grandparents Lloyd and Jean Reagan. Lisa attended Emily Follensbee School, then later attended Christine Meikle School. BUFFET, Marie Joy (nee Heard) - passed away peacefully Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre, surrounded in death, as in life, by loving family and friends. Born Armistice Day, November 11, 1918 (hence the middle name Joy), to Myrtle and Frederick Heard, Marie moved to Dryden with her widowed mother and brothers Carl and Jack. Upon their arrival in Dryden, the Heard family took up residence on Albert Street school property, where Myrtle taught school. As a youth, Marie enjoyed outdoor sports from hunting and fishing to cross country skiing and swimming. Marie was employed as a clerk at Pitts, Wabigoon Drugs, Beath's Jewelry store, then at the Dryden telephone department as a switchboard operator. Marie joined the war effort in 1943, enlisting with the Canadian Women's Army Corps, serving until 1946 and was stationed at head quarters in Hamilton, as a telephone operator, until discharge at the end of the war. Upon discharge, Marie went back to school in Thunder Bay and was studying to become a beautician when she met, and in a remarkably whirlwind romance, married Clifford Earl Buffett. Cliff and Marie were introduced at their boarding house in Thunder Bay on Marie's birthday, November 11, 1946, and were married on Boxing Day, December 26, 1946. Together Cliff and Marie raised four children. Throughout her life Marie involved herself with various artistic styles, including painting, pottery, weaving and ceramics. After her children became self-sufficient she went she went back to work teaching arts and crafts at Cassellhome Nursing Home in North Bay, Ontario until she retired at 65 years of age. Marie, intrepid, voracious traveler, traversed the globe with an unflagging zest for life. From Alaska to Australia, Europe to the Asian rim, the globe was no stranger to her. Wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, dearly loved by all. Marie returned home with Cliff to Dryden in 2002 to take up residence. Predeceased by her parents and siblings, Marie is survived by her entire loving family: life friend and partner, Cliff, son Bryan Clifford Buffett (Barb); daughters Sherryl Colleen Beauregard (Gerry), Dawn-Marie Bonany (Jim), Sandra Gail Buffett (Holger), grandchildren Melanie Gauthier, Marnie Buffett-Pitt, Kara Bellman, Crystal-Leigh Bonany-Bolduc, Juli Potter, Brandon and Brittany Buffett-Schur; grandchildren Trinity and Shayla Bonany-Bolduc, Alexander Bellman, Riley Potter, Joshua Pitt, Claudia Bellman, Claire Gauthier, and Georgia Buffett. The celebration of Marie's life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 63, Dryden, Ontario at 11AM, Monday May 4th, with Padre Mary Mennell officiating. Internment of ashes to follow at the Dryden Cemetery. McCOLL, Agnes Napier Sadly on April 25th, 2009, she was the wife of the late Hugh McColl. She will be deeply missed by her daughters; Jacqueline Joynt (the late Ronald) and Eleanor Collins (Lawrence). She was both a proud and devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren; Ryan, Jordan and Chelsea. Mr. Donald Saxon McColl September 9, 1933 - April 27, 2009 - Donald Saxon McColl On April 27, 2009 Don passed away after a prolonged illness in Edmonton with his adoring wife Phyllis (Clark) holding his hand. He was the beloved father of Andrew (Julie) and Bev (William) Winn all of Ontario. Don was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Melissa, Malcolm and Graham McColl; Zachary, Bennett and Lukas Winn. Don is also survived by his siblings Bill (Fran) of BC, Jean (Colin) Campbell, Pat, Kae (Moe) from Ontario, and many nieces and nephews. Don enjoyed several careers as “Cash McColl “with the Royal Bank, as a Senior Civil servant at the Province of Ontario and in retirement, as Santa Claus for charitable institutions. Don and Phyllis moved to Edmonton in 2002 from the Toronto area where Don as an accomplished cook provided stalwart support for Phyllis working at the University of Alberta. Don was an engaged, active listener and conversationalist with everyone he met. To the end, he treated people with interest and respect; he knew all his care givers names, backgrounds and interests. The family would like to express our appreciation towards all the staff at the Good Samaritan Zetter Care Centre, the Grey Nuns hospital, the University hospital for the care and compassion he received. A private celebration of his life will take place at a later date in Ontario. Flowers gratefully declined .Memorial donations would be appreciated directly to the Don McColl Graduate Scholarship at the University of Alberta.

VARGA , Joseph September 19, 1936 - April 23, 2009 Joseph Varga passed away on April 23, 2009 at the age of 73 years. Joe had a great sense of humour and was a generous hard-working man, who provided a comfortable life for his family. Joe was a very tough guy who cheated death on several occasions to continue his home construction projects and his independent lifestyle. He will be sorely missed by his daughter Kathy (Shane) and his two young grandsons Matthew and Henry, his best friend George, and his family back in Hungary where he was born. Joe is now at peace and reunited with many people he loved, including his late wife Mary. Joe is also survived by two sons Joseph (Teresa) and Steve (Sandra).
