BENOIT, Pierre “Peter” - After a lengthy and courageous battle with many illness, at the Mattawa Hospital, on Friday, April 24, 2009. Pierre was the beloved husband of Jackie (nee Levesque). Dear father of the late Paul Benoit. Proud grandfather of Brennan & Kyle Benoit. Survived by his daughter-in-law Colleen and brother-in-law George Flynn. Mrs. Wilma Louise Thompson January 15, 1927 - April 20, 2009 Wilma Louise Thompson January 15, 1927 - Monday, April 20, 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Wilma Thompson on April 20, 2009 at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre. Wilma was born in Radisson, SK on January 15, 1927 to Roy and Amelia Girling, married Harold Thompson March 2, 1944 and moved to Saskatoon in 1956. Wilma is survived by her caring husband of 65 years, Harold; her loving daughters, Terri Thompson and Carole (Larry) Whyte; son-in-law, Jack Justason (†Faye); her six grandchildren, Trevor Whyte, Kelly Kielback (Ken), Shannon Whyte, Dean, Kathy and Dale Justason; her ten great-grandchildren, Paige, Brett, Taryn, Chase, Jorden, Jesse, McKinley, Miranda, Michael and Yvonne; and other members of her extended family. Wilma was predeceased by her mother and dad; her five siblings, Lilly, George, Ivan, Viola, and Margaret; and her eldest daughter, Faye Justason. Wilma enjoyed dancing, curling, golf, darts, playing cards, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the many friendships she made through curling and golf; her winters spent in Yuma, Arizona and through the Unit 38 Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans Club. OBITUARY Dr. CHARLES McCAMMON ALLAN The death of the late Dr. Charles McCammon Allan occurred on April 24, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital at the age of eighty-one. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he was the only son of the late James and Margaret (McCammon) Allan. Charles earned his undergraduate degree in science, his medical training and a subsequent Masters in Science from McGill University. While at medical school (Class of '52), his academic achievements were recognized by the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Society, the only national medical society in the world. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). He completed his residency at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, prior to training in vascular surgery. He received further clinical training at the Montreal General Hospital, the Montreal Childrens' Hospital and the Royal Infirmary in Preston, England. Charles practiced vascular and general surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Montreal until his move in 1983 to Miramichi, NB where he continued his surgical practice until his full retirement in 2005. Upon his retirement he moved to Sackville, NB. Charles was an avid reader with wide and varied interests. He was a life long learner, with an unsurpassable quest for knowledge that sustained him throughout his lifetime. He was a talented and prolific painter and loved to share his work with family and friends. He enjoyed working with wood, initially in large construction, then more recently with beautiful heirloom dollhouses and model ships. He enjoyed the many visits from his family, and his friends and colleagues from the Miramichi and beyond during his retirement years. Survived by his five children: Nancy Burridge (Ed) of Sackville, NB, Charles (Chip) Allan (Jennifer) of London, ON, Margaret Eddy (J. Allan) of Dartmouth, NS, James Allan (Elaine Beaudoin) of Montreal, QC and Mary-Lou Sauro (Stephen) of Newton, MA. and 16 grandchildren: David, Emily and Will Burridge, Lindsay, Jacqueline, Brooke and Jamie Allan, Charles, Katherine and John Eddy, Charles, Simon, Nicholas and Melanie Allan, Abigail and Benjamin Sauro. Charles was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his five children, Joyce (Gair) Allan (1991) and his second wife, Jane Morrissy Allan (2004). Special thanks to: Dr Tom McAvinue, Dr. Suzanne Hall-Losier and the nursing staff of the Moncton Hospital Geriatric Rehab Unit. Mr. Waldermer Majcher September 20, 1934 - April 20, 2009 MAJCHER, Waldemer "Mike" Lt. Cdr. (Ret'd) 74, of Dartmouth, passed away April 20, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Born in Alonsa, Man., he was the son of the late William Robert and Maria (Kozyr) Majcher. Raised on the family farm in McCreary, Man., he joined the Air Force at the age of 17 in 1952. He was an air weapons tech in his early years and while stationed in Cold Lake, Alta., he became an early member of Canada's Para Rescue Team in 1964. While doing a second tour in Germany he was commissioned into the Navy in 1969 and was posted to HMCS Saguenay in Halifax. Following his years at sea he became a computer programmer at CSD. He retired from the military in 1988 after 37 loyal years of service. For the following eight years he taught computer programming for TUNS. Mike was a dedicated volunteer in the Dartmouth sports community. He was an active director with Shearwater East Dartmouth Minor Hockey Association, President of Bel Ayr Minor Baseball Association, including many enjoyable years as a coach. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Isabel (MacDonald); daughters, Karen (Carl) Noseworthy of Greenwood; Patricia (Joe) Martin of St. Catherine's; sons, William (Janet) of Vancouver; Gordon (Cisela) of Ottawa; granddaughters, Emily, Joanna, Annika; grandsons, Robert, Chris, Niklas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Marshall and sister, Wanda. He is survived by brother, Leon of Winnipeg. He had a great love for his grandchildren and patience for his in-laws. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 35 Colby Dr., Cole Harbour. Burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mrs. Gladys F. Lussier June 16, 1918 - April 19, 2009 - After a long and wonderful life, with her family around her, Gladys Lussier passed away at her residence on Sunday April 19, 2009 at the age of 90 years. She will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gladys was pre-deceased by her husband Edward and her grandson Robert. She is survived by her children Raymond (Alice), David (Sandra), Anne (Dale), Cathy (Barry), Patricia (Barry), Christine (Darrell), Brian (Ingrid): her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mark (Tonya - Storm, Trinity) Lussier, Leanne (John) Yule, Gregg (Tara - Tyler, Jordan, Jack) Lussier, Krista (Todd - Beckett) Smigielski, Craig (Lisa - Neeve) Reynolds, Lisa Reynolds (Kevin Angel), Jenn (Doug - Brayden, Luke) Tumber, Stephen (Claire) Russell, Stacey (Chuck - Logan) Lang, Katherine Rae, Brittany Rae, Cole Fornwald, Blaine Fornwald, Kevin Lussier, Derek Lussier. Gladys was born in Reading England on June 16, 1918. She received her teaching certificate after graduating from Brighton College in 1938. Gladys moved to Canada after World War II and married Edward on Dec 29, 1945. They started a family and Gladys spent her time raising her children and volunteering both in her community and at her local church. She was an active member of the CWL and had recently received her 50 year pin. Gladys returned to teaching in 1966 and taught school in Lampman, Sask. until her retirement in 1980. After moving to Winnipeg she became active in her local parish. She was also thrilled to be able to take in many arts events, enjoying symphony, theatre and the ballet right up to the time of her passing. Gladys loved to travel and she especially enjoyed numerous cruises and trips to many parts of the world. She also enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, watching figure skating and singing in community and church choirs. As Gladys was a war bride she was an active member of both the Saskatchewan and Manitoba War Brides’ Associations. Gladys’ family was her pride and joy. She spent much of her time visiting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were very special to her. Gladys had a love for life and a zest for learning, which she instilled in her children. She also taught them to see the good in others and to see the positive in every situation. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Sharkey who provided excellent care to our mother over the past 28 years and was a tremendous source of strength to her. We would also like to acknowledge the Home Care Palliative care nurses, especially Janet, who provided support and care to her and her family throughout her brief illness. Funeral services will be held at St. Timothy’s Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd. on Friday April 24 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Richard Edmund Jablonski August 28, 1928 - April 21, 2009 - JABLONSKI, Richard Edmund After a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the age of 80.
