Loving wife for more than 48 years to her late husband John Graham. Cherished and loving mother of Ruth and David. MURRAY, Jonathan Eric Michael - After a year and a half battle with cancer in the form of an inoperable brain tumour on Monday March 16th 2009 just shy of his seventh birthday. He was in the company of his loving parents Howard and Cathy, his stuffed kitty was in his arms and he had a picture of his beloved big sister, Emily, clutched in his hand. Jonathan was a warm, caring child and was always ready to share anything with anyone, be it toys or his favourite food. He will be deeply missed by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. His passing will also be felt by the community of Alcona and all the many friends he made amongst the students and teaching staff of Goodfellow Public School as well as at Alcona Glen where his mother teaches and was known to bring him on occasion. Jonathan's favourite colour was yellow, his favourite season was summer, his favourite activity was swimming, his favourite movie was Alvin and the Chipmunks, his favourite food is hard to pick but it would likely be a tie between Caesar salad and veggies with dip. Anytime you run across these things, think of him and remember his smile and infectious laugh which could get a whole room going without knowing why. LINDSEY-POWERS, Sheila Ruth - On March 20, 2009 Sheila Ruth Lindsey- Powers was called home to be with her Lord in her 65th year after a short illness. Predeceased by her father Herm Lindsey (1988), her mother Ruth Lindsey (1998) and her cousin Kaye Dunslow (2008). An infant son and brother also predeceased. Sheila will be remembered as a very special lady. She loved and served her Lord, always striving to honour and glorify Him. She, countless times put others before herself. Sheila was a precious treasure to many. As a physiotherapist, she touched many while working at Thames Valley Children's Centre, SPRI, Southwest Regional Centre, and the Prism Centre. She volunteered as often as she could, working to enrich and improve the lives of others. She was a valued member of the Church family of St. James Presbyterian Church. RUDDY, John Peter Peacefully and with the ever-present love of his family on Sunday, March 22, 2009 in his 87th year. Predeceased by his daughters Julia in 1983 and Christina in 2007. John is survived by his wife Georgie of 58 years, his daughter Gina (Fred) and sons John (Jennifer), Michael (Cathi) and Joseph as well as his sister Helen (Robert) of Montreal. John was also the loving grandfather "Bompa" of Jennifer and Michael (Christine), Nikola and Sonya and Amanda, Samantha, Rebecca, Jake and Alexandra and Jack and Joe. He was the great-grandfather of Georgie, daughter of Michael and Christine. John will be missed by several nephews and nieces as well as his many good friends. Sister Helen Maminimini, LCBL Tragically on Thursday March 18, 2009, in their homeland of Zimbabwe, Sister Helen Maminimini and two of her siblings, Florence and Winnifred were involved in a truck/car collision. Sister Helen and Florence died at the scene. Winnifred is in hospital with serious injuries. They are the daughters of Agnes Chinombe and her late husband, of Harare, Zimbabwe. A fourth sister, Margaret Shatei and her three children reside in Hamilton, Ontario. Several other relatives live in Harare. Sister Helen spent several happy years in Ottawa while attending St. Paul's University. She earned her Masters Degree in 1998 and her PhD, both in Canon Law, in 2001. Sometime after her return home she served her religious community, "Little Children of our Blessed Lady" as Superior General for six years. At the time of her death she was vice rector, registrar, adminstrator and part time lecturer at a theological college in Harare. Lovingly remembered and dearly missed by Sr. Helen's proxy mother, Bernice (B.) Brown and her "sister in spirit" Karyn Brown both of Ottawa.A double funeral was held for Sister Helen and Florence Saturday March 21, 2009 in Harare. Rest Gently With God. KRAVITZ, Socher 1917-2009 Socher Kravitz, of blessed memory, beloved husband of the late Sonia Kravitz of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the age of 92. Socher is the loving father of Hindy and son-in-law Izak Paul, and Riva and son-in-law Abe Ber; he is also survived by six grandchildren, Jason (Orly), Karen (Eli), Mark (Shiran), Aliza (Paul), Dahlia (Kevin), and Jeffrey; great-grandchildren, Noa, Eli, Adam, Sarah Gila, Chaya Bracha, Moshe, Ben and Sonia. Socher was born in Gonyenz, Poland, and he was one of the few survivors of a very large family that perished in the Holocaust. He moved with his wife Sonia to Montreal in 1948 to start a new life, and in 1986 retired to be with his children and grandchildren in Calgary. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and zaidy. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
