PODDUBNY, Walter Michael "Walt" 2009-03-24 Mr. Walter Michael "Walt" Poddubny age 49 years, a resident of Thunder Bay passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Born in Port Arthur, ON, Walt was educated at Algonquin Elementary School and Hammarskjold High School. He was an accomplished hockey player who played 11 seasons in the N.H.L. Following his playing years Walt coached professional hockey for another 8 years. Walt returned to Thunder Bay in 2003 to spend time with his daughters. He was involved in benefit hockey with the Avenue II Avengers in support of Adults with Developmental Disabilities and volunteered with the Shelter House Relay Committee and the Salvation Army. He also enjoyed spending time fishing, bear wrestling and barbecuing for his family and friends. Walt will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Jamie and Jordan; mother Nadia; sisters, Mary LaBelle (Marcel) of Ottawa, and Irene Poddubny; brother Peter (Catherine); nephews Joseph LaBelle, Jacob and Carter Poddubny; and wife Tammy. He was predeceased by his father Michael in 1995. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:00 pm in St. Paul’s United Church (Waverley Street) with Rev. Lloyd Ivany officiating. Gerard Judge of Osgoode at the age of 68 years. Devoted husband and best friend of Dolores Judge (MacGregor). Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland where he met the love of his life. Gerard and Dolores immigrated to Canada on June 6, 1966 and eventually settled in Osgoode where they raised their four children. GROVE, Elsie Margaret (nee Mohr) June 13, 1932 - March 20, 2009 It is with sadness to announce the passing of Elsie after a short battle with cancer. Elsie leaves behind her loving husband Stan, of fifty-seven years, her sons: Ken and (Kathy); Bill; John and (Sandy); grandchildren Erin and Morgen; sister Emma Axleson and brother Carl. Elsie was predeceased by her parents; Fred and Mary Mohr and sister Adell. Loving her Lord, Elsie is now at home with her Heavenly Father. She was born in Regina SK, at the age of eight, her family moved to Calgary. Elsie had fond memories while attending Western Canada High School where she was an extraordinary athlete. Once retired, Stan and Elsie wintered in Yuma, AZ, and spent their summers at the cabin in Water Valley, AB, where she would crochet, knit and enjoy cooking on her prized wood burning stove. She often had a big pot of soup or stew simmering for hungry stomachs to enjoy. Elsie was surrounded by her family until her passing. Alexander D. McLean Alexander D. McLean of Jacksontown, NB, passed away at the Central Carleton Nursing Home in Hartland, NB on March 4th, 2009, at the age of 96 years. Born at Upper Woodstock, NB, December 31st, 1912, son of the late Miles and Ellen (Harris) McLean. Alex is survived by three brothers - Miles McLean, London, England, Donald McLean, Jacksontown and Angus (Carol) McLean, Woodstock, Ontario and nieces and nephews. Alex was predeceased by his parents, Miles and Ellen McLean, brothers, Irvine, George and James, sisters, Pauline (Bell), Chrissie (Small), Helen, sister-in-law, Mildred (Cox). Funeral service was held March 7th, 2009 from the Carleton Funeral Home, Jacksonville, NB with Rev. Matthew Little officiating. Pianist was great niece Elaine Durling, Fredericton, NB. Eulogy was given by Ernest Ebbett, Jacksontown and great nephew Richard Bell, Fredericton, NB. The 23rd Psalm was read by great nephew Rev. Kevin Culberson, Fredericton. Musical selections by Rev. Garth and Mrs. Liane MacKay and Sue Ellen Derrah of Hartland were: "He Touched Me" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". Closing hymn by the congregation was "The Old Rugged Cross". KLOMPS, Hermann 2009-03-24 Mr. Hermann Albert Klomps, age 79 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep from complications following surgery for lung cancer. Hermann immigrated to Canada from Bremen, Germany in August of 1951 at the age of 22. He then worked for the Ministry of Transportation for 29 years before retiring in 1989. He is survived by his wife Olive Klomps (Dawdy), only child Crystal Kormos from Saskatoon, grandson Zachariah - age 12 years, 2 step children Lyle Dunning and Della Lauersen. Hermann will be greatly missed by his many friends. Cremation has taken place and according to his wishes, no service will be held. Larade est décédé à l’Unité des soins palliatifs de l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont, après une brave lutte contre le cancer. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Louise Aucoin; leur fils, Michel; ses frères: Jules (Brenda) et Raymond (Belinda); ses soeurs: Judy LeBlanc (Bertie), Anne-Marie Croft (Rod) et Lucille Timmons (Roger); ses neveux, nièces, ainsi que de nombreux parents et amis. Simon était diplômé de l’Université de Moncton et de la St. Francis Xavier University. Il travaillait à la Banque de développement du Canada (BDC) à titre de directeur au Développement de solutions et initiatives d’affaires nationales. Une liturgie de la parole sera célébrée à sa mémoire, le lundi 23 mars, à 14h, en l’église Saint-Pierre de Chéticamp, Nouvelle-Écosse. Les parents et amis de Simon lui diront un au revoir, par la suite, à la Salle des retraités de Chéticamp. Sincères remerciements au personnel de l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont, surtout le département d’oncologie et l’unité des soins palliatifs. LOROFF, Mary 2009-03-24 Mrs. Mary "Ada" Loroff, age 66 years, passed away peacefully in hospital with her family by her side on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Ada was born on August 6, 1942 in Fort William. She was raised there and has lived in the area her entire life. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing hand held games and going to Grand Portage Casino with her friend Gail McEachern. She loved her granddaughters and spending time with them was very important to her. Ada is survived by her son Wesley Loroff; daughter Loretta Ristola (Patrick Mahoney); granddaughters Kirsten Ristola and Courtney Mahoney and brother Harvey (Betty) Wright. Many other relatives also survive. She is predeceased by her husband Clifford (1983); son Stephen (1972) and her parents Charles and Joyce Wright.
