LANG, Marie Victoria January 1, 1940 - March 19, 2009 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Marie passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer with her family by her side. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Earl with whom she celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on September 20, 2008. She is also mourned by her children and their families, Linda, Lloyd, Russ (Amanda), and Karlea, Wanda, Tim, Matt and Paula, Darcy, Agnes, Thomas, Scott and Rebecka, Tena, Lorne, Marina and Kolt. She is also survived by her siblings, Mike, Eleanor (Walter), Nick, Victor (Liz), Vicky (Bill), Alfred (Rose) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Rose Kwasnycia and her brothers, Roy, Peter, Walter and Bill. Marie was born in Rocky Rapids, Alberta, raised her family in Calgary and retired to her beloved farm in Raven, Alberta. There she used her green thumb to grow beautiful flowers and trees, and grew enough fruit and vegetables to feed herself, Earl and her entire extended family. A celebration of Marie's life will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Innisfail United Church (4720 - 48 Avenue, Innisfail). MALINOWSKI, Henning (Heinz) July 21, 1941 - March 20, 2009 Henning (Heinz) Malinowski of Sundre, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on March 20, 2009 at the age of 67 years. Henning is survived by his children, Aaron, Patti (Jay), Lorelie (Kurt) and Jason (Hedy); step-daughter Kelli (Brett); grandchildren, Jennifer, Danielle, Sarah, Sidney, Jackson, Sabrina and Gustav; sister Lydia; brother Leon and as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved companion "Buddy". STEFANIC, Derrien Chris August 11, 1970 - March 20, 2009 Derrien Stefanic of Calgary, AB, passed away suddenly at the age of 38 years. Derrien is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Karen, children Cassandra and Abbigale, parents Jerry and Christine, brothers Dean (Brigitte), Donavin (Denise), nephews Noah, Nate, Tyler and Brandon, and in-laws Betty, Lloyd and Lance Kaiser. He was predeceased by grandparents Violet and Chris Arychuk, Mary and Peter Stefanic, as well as father-in-law Walter Kaiser. Derrien will be loved and missed by both family and friends. RUBIC, Lawrence “Larry“ - In loving memory of Lawrence “Larry“ Rubic, 82 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Lois and his parents Joseph and Julia (Ostovich) Rubic. Loving father of Ronald (Colleen), Michael (Shana), Richard, Robin (Cindy) and Joseph. Cherished grandfather of Pam, Lee, Amanda, Christie and Ryan. Dear brother of Agnes Kolar (Bob) and Ronald (Lilian). Dear uncle of Marty (Shirley), Diane (Luciano) and Jimmy (Trina). Sadly missed by great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Born in Schumacher, he moved to Sudbury in 1942. He was a well known local businessman, involved in car sales, towing, body shops as well as owning and operating the Frood and Belvedere Hotels. Larry was an avid sports enthusiast, soft ball, baseball, boxing and hockey. His children always came first. Whenever a coach was needed he would volunteer. He was a longtime coach of the Sudbury Oldtimers Hockey Club and of the Sudbury Wolves. In 1958 he coached the All Canadian Fast Ball Champions and was inducted into the Kinsman Sports Hall of Fame in 1975. Larry's strength of character and passion for life will be greatly missed. At Larry's request there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Frood Hotel, 557 Kathleen St., Thursday, March 26th 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and then at the Beef 'N Bird, 923 Lorne St., Thursday, March 26th, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., friends are welcome. MEARINI, Luigi - In loving memory of Luigi Mearini, 83 years, who passed away at Extendicare York in Sudbury on Saturday, March 21st, 2009. Beloved husband of Elba (nee Giardini) of Sudbury. Loving father of John Mearini (wife Monique) and Rita Robertson (husband John) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Heather, Sarah and Jessica Mearini and Miranda and Jordan McKenzie. Dear brother of Luisa Mengoni (late husband Ubaldo) of Luxemburg, Marina Mengoni (late husband Armando) of Italy, Emilia Mearini of Italy and Ida Cardoni (late husband Dolfo) of France. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Albert Giardini (wife Carmella) of Etobicoke and their son Jordan. Luigi was born in Gubbio, Perugia, Italy on October 10th, 1925. He and Elba were married in Copper Cliff in 1953. Known as an avid gardener in his healthier years, he also loved his fruit trees. He was a life member of the Caruso Club and some of his favourite pastimes were bowling, bocce, hunting and spending time at the cottage. FEHR, Mabel Harriet (Mabes) March 19, 1922 - March 21, 2009 Mabel Fehr of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the age of 87 years. She was born March 19, 1922 in Magnolia, AB. She moved to Calgary in 1942, where she met her husband John Fehr and they married in 1946. Mabel worked in Calgary for the Harse family who became lifelong friends. She enjoyed many activities, including golf, curling, lawn bowling and especially enjoyed to travel. Mabel was able to fulfill her lifelong dream of travelling to Sweden with her daughter Gaylene, where she visited the birthplace of her parents. Mabel dearly loved her family and the time spent with them was very special to her. She will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched. Mabel is survived by her loving daughters, Lynda (Helmer) and Gaylene; niece Margwin (Lloyd); grandchildren Byron (Heather), Danielle (Brian) and Stephan as well as other numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was born in Westree on March 16th, 1934, son of Joseph and Addie (both deceased). He had been a resident of Wahnapitae for well over 50 years. Known as a proud trucker, he had worked for Inter-City Transport for close to 35 years and enjoyed planning some of their events after hours. Some of his favourite pastimes were hockey and organizing tournaments, baseball, camping and ice fishing. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man, someone who always enjoyed hosting family and friends at his home. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. (at Hazel St.), Sudbury. Born at Saint John in 1954, she was a daughter of Bernadette (Christensen) and the late Frank Eccleston. Mrs. McCarthy was an LPN working at Hotel-Dieu Hospital for almost thirty years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother of Plaster Rock, three sons, Chad (Monique) of Ottawa, Brock and Kyle of Halifax, one brother, Peter Eccleston (Marcelle) of New Denmark, four sisters, Marie Harding of Fredericton, Brenda Giberson of Grand Falls, Grace Harris (Chris) of Woodstock and Betty Parsons (David) of McLaughlin Road, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father and a sister, Julia. Her funeral service was held Thursday, March 26th at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls (Portage), with Father Gilbert Doddatto officiating, assisted by Father Curtis Sappier. The pallbearers were Gerald McCarthy, Chad McCarthy, Brock McCarthy, Kyle McCarthy, Monique McCarthy and Peter Eccleston. An honour guard was formed by several co-workers from Hotel Dieu Hospital.
